Chapter 2 - Wondering

Ben walked through the silent hallways; it was 7 o'clock and his mom wouldn't be home till 10. Ben shuddered and quickened his pace - he didn't want to be caught by the wrong group of people. He made it to his locker and grabbed his essentials in exchange for his textbooks; he was resourceful student and took advantage of his free time during classes to finish his homework.

He grabbed his phone; house key, wallet and then put on his favorite sweater and scarf; the sweater was pure white knit and the scarf was blue, Ben's absolute favorite color. It was pure silk and always blew stylishly in the wind. It was made by his mother for his father...who was no longer with them. Ben sighed as that thought came to light, "I wish you were here with us dad...mom's been struggling to care of us both...it's hard to see her like this."

He tried to go get a job but his mother wouldn't allow it; she was type of woman who didn't like to be given things, she liked to work for what she had. Ben was shocked out of his thoughts when he heard boisterous laughing throughout the halls. "Oh...shit, their practice ended early today didn't it?!"

Panic overtook Ben's body; adrenaline coursed in his veins and his flight reaction took over. He dove into an empty classroom and hid in corner near the door out of sight. The laughter and obnoxious talking got closer; at his angle, Ben could see through the tiny window on the classroom's door. He saw Dana and his entourage of juveniles; he tried to tone them out, but that wasn't happening.

"And then I shoved the little fag into his locker. Have any of you smelled how fruity that shit smells?" Dana laughed, Ben felt his face go red...they were talking about him. "Wonder if I hurt him...?" Dana continued to say...Ben was curious at this saying, "Why would Dana be worried about me? Like he cares any...."

They stood near the door talking about girls, parties, sex...everything the typical straight male would talk about. But Ben was ever so grateful; he was able to see Dana is his full glory without him knowing. Dana was a giant; a foot and a head taller Jamal and Jamal was already a foot taller than him.

He was muscular all over; but had a layer of fat that added a sexy curvature to his body. His brown fur was short, but looked soft and shiny. The nose ring he had was golden added to his manliness, of which he was already oozing. His horns however; were his pride - they were equal in length, curves, and point. That's what days upon days of grinding them down did.

Ben knew he was hard after such an examination of his bully...even though he tortured and hurt him, he couldn't help but feel attracted to him. And it wasn't because he hurt him...something just allured Ben. After a couple more minutes, the group moved on - he waited a short while till their voices died down. He exited the classroom and began walking down the hallway...he instantly regretted it.

"Hey isn't it that fag you were talking about earlier Dana?!" one of his cronies saw; apparently Ben didn't have the foresight to look both ways. Dana didn't waste time coming back.

"So; little bitch here was listening in on us, huh?" he said, malice laced upon his voice. Ben bolted without a second thought; down the hallways and through entry ways. He didn't even bother with the stairs; he slid down the railing and dashed out the front door of the school - he could hear them behind him. He was for once glad that he exercised on a regular basis - he didn't feel tired at all.

He ran down the sidewalk in the cold fall air; multi-colored leaves were falling slowly, Ben would've taken the time to admire the scenery but right now he was running for his life. He kept running as fast as he could and took a shortcut through an alleyway. On the other side he dashed across the street, dodging cars, and quickly made his way down the stairs into a subway terminal.

He walked up to the ticket machine and fumbled around with his money; his hands shaking as he was trying to put the money in. He finally accomplished his task; exited through the turn-styles, and got on the train. He grabbed a seat and curled up into a ball; caught in a state of exhaustion and alertness.

...

As the subway went along its route, Ben felt himself drifting in and out of sleep - the shuffling of people at stops and while the train moved was what kept him conscious. The train announcer finally said in her monotone voice, "Mobia Station, Mobia Station. If you're carrying personal..." That was all Ben cared to hear.

He rose up from the seat and stretched; grabbed his belongings and exited the train when it finally came to a stop. He checked his phone and realized that it was 10:45 PM...he noticed that his mom had called him a couple of times - the thought of calling her had completely eluded him. He gulped as he walked up the stairs and down the sidewalk to his apartment complex.

He greeted the receptionist at the front desk with smile. Up the 4 stories he climbed; he unlocked and opened the door...and there his mother was sitting down a couch, she hadn't even changed from her work clothes, "Ben...where were you?! Do you realize how worried...how scared you made me?!" She shouted; Ben looked down at his shoes - trying to think of an excuse.

"Well...I accidentally got on the wrong train..." Ben said quietly.

"Why didn't you pick up when I called?"

"I was tired and it was the best I could do to stay awake enough to hear the stops being called off," Ben explained. His mother looked at him sternly and sighed. She was a calm woman; her fur was silvering and added a sort of...distinguished aura to her. She was pretty; her looks only seemed to age with her as she grew older.

"Ben," she said, making him look up, "I know it's hard for you not to want to stay home at your age...I understand, completely. But just tell me when you do so I know where you are, mmkay?" She said as she walked up to him and gave him a strong hug. Ben hugged back grabbed a small snack from the kitchen.

"Alright mom...love you," he called as ventured back to his room. He dressed down into more comfortable clothing and laid down onto his bed...thinking. His mom poked her head into the room after a short while.

"Oh I almost forgot...Sheila called and told me that Rico came by earlier and wanted to see you. You should talk to him tomorrow."

"Will do," Ben said - smiling at the thought of Rico. He was on the school's wrestling team and was very charismatic, but somehow...wasn't that popular. Rico was one of Ben's best-friends; he was a gull of incredible size - probably as big as Dana. He was nice and they both would often play video games while talking with Sheila, or go out with her to movies or shopping. The trio of friends seemed almost inseparable - and for the most part...they were.

Ben rolled over after finishing what he ate and waited for sleep to take him. "Dana...Jamal...and Rico," he thought, "I wonder..." He didn't wonder for much longer as he promptly fell asleep.
