My Brother's Family

________________________________________________________________________

Supper, for the most part, was an uneventful display of a silient family pretending the lack of words didn't bother them. As they sat noisly eating the steamy bowles of soup Leon clanked his spoon on the porcline dish in bordem. Resinating a thought boiled over in his brother's head, forcing the pale dragon teen to speak up. "I... havta' tell you guys sumthin." He slurred out nervously pushing the food away from him. Naturally Leon froze in terrored panic and their parent suddenly held undivivded attenetion towards their adopted son. Instantly he regreted speaking up at all.

"Mom, Da...Dad; I don't think it's fair how Leon's being punished for..." He stopped short, very reluctante to actually mention his older brother as being 'gay.' Still the unescapable fact, that Rues was too. The eldest wolves gave a glance at each other, their mother surely looking for direction from their father. Leon no longer could remain quiet either. "Come on guys, I could understand if I was out drinking or something but this is rediculus! I come home after therapy every day and get the cold sholder treatment while you look at me like I'm a criminal. The only thing I did was come out to you guys, it's not like I suddenly changed myself entirely!"

It wasn't the dinner conversation that they had planned for, to say the least. The silience had returned and the eldest male of the family looked to be genually thinking the entire situation over. "Leon, we're a family who are raised on faith and our beliefs." Infuriatted their birth-son slammed his paw down on the table while standing. "Don't give me that religous crap! I'm not perverted and I'm not a mistake, all I want is to be seen as normal as Rues or Jack sees me; is that so much?" He didn't mean to but some of the focus now fell back onto the mammilian dragon who's heart raced at the same speed of his brother's. "He's really the same, guys..." added the smallest male, a timid stirring of a voice. The entire faimly was on the brink of either tears or shouting. Though it burned his pride, Leon's father let a single drop slide from his brilliant yellows and down his thickly brown fur. "Boys, it's just not how I expected my son to live his life, but you're right. It isn't fair to persecute you for who you are."

Judging by his words it sounded like their parents had been talking to Jack. Still his some-what-apology was take in with a smile of grattitude. "You're not grounded anymore BUT you still aren't allow going out on... dates" Now that must have been a hard thing to say Leon thought smugly, sitting back down calmly.

"Can I have my wheels back?" he asked, nudging Rues's hindpaw with his own in celebration. They agreedd that he would have to report exactly where he was going and for how long but was permitted to come and go as freely as before, mostly. "Oh and another thing, don't think you're gonna' pop us attitude without getting some in return mister." His mother warned pointing her finger naggingly. He said the usual 'yes, mom,' and took a healthy slurp of his now room-tempature soup. "Manners!" she nagged agian bringing the family to laughter.

Finally being so at peace with all his family over his sexuality was a bliss the young wolf thought he could never know. After supper was finished the two secret lovers excused themselves from the table. "Me and Rues, I mean Rues and I are going to out for a ride; if that's alright?" he said over his sholder, using an infliction to turn his statement into a question. "For an hour. No funny buisness, either Keep it simple and Rues be sure to take your phone." Warned their father, piling up the dishes and helping his wife to the kitchen. Not a second passed after he left did a white and brown flash make its way for the front door; stopping only to snag a set of keys from the wall hanger.

"Wow, look at that one!" came a youthfully peppy voice from atop of the mustang's cherry red hood."Yeah, you can see for miles out here," Leon piped back, following his brother's out-streached paw to a star in the heavens above. "Shame we have to get going so soon, huh?" Rues nodded, not taking his eyes off the distant ball of light yet drapping his arm across his brother's chest as it slowly rose and fell with each heavy breath. "Awe, lets stay just for a bit more, please?" Four frizzy white fingers gingerly gripped cotten below. A way of begging the wolf to remain a little while longer.

They waited another five minutes or so before climbing down from the perch in the wilderness, hanging legs over the front end f the car. "They'll skin us if we're much later, ya'know?" Rues sighed despite wishing that through some miricle he could hang onto the moment a tiny bit longer. "You know what else they'd skin us for?" Leon chuclked and pulled the smaller male closer, looking deep into those crystal eyes. He didn't have to wait for Rues to guess what the motive behind such an encrochment was. Leon merrily enshourded his brother's body with open arms. Hot breath poured in turrents from the canine's mouth dreanching his brother's face and soon their lips found each other trembling. A subtle, soft kiss left them both hazy-eyed. "That... They'd skin us down to the bone for that too." Funny how such a beautiful thing could be so trouble-some. "Shall we then?"

Driving back Leon felt as if his hindpaw was a lead brick on the gas pedal. Slowing only for turns he couldn't help but to glance at the clock every few minutes, neurotically checking to see the deaddline drawing helplessly near. "Aren't we going just a tad fast?" Rues asked softly while twiddling his fingers. It was only five or six miles over the speedlimit bit it made him uneasy all the same.

"Dude we're done for if we get home a second later than what they said. They'll ask us each a thousand questions anyway so I rather not have to answer while defending my honor... or some crap like that." Turning on the main road Rues fell back into his seat wordlessly. A few seconds passed before worry seeped away and bordem set into its place. As a joke he slowly (and noticably) reached for the radio dial, expecting to be swatted away. "Anything but country," Leon advised keeping his eyes dead-set on the road. Rues hadn't really expected to listen to the radio and his bluff being called made him pause clumsily. On the home streach of road there was no reason to turn it on, they'd be in the driveway in a matter of minutes.

Buckles snapped open and the two boys pratically flew out of the vehical, sprinting for the door. On the way there, due to his shorter legs, Rues fell behind a few steps. When the brothers had reached the door they slowed considerbaly and tried to catch their breath. "Psst, you have a nice tail, bro." Rues whispered in a silly tone, swhishing his own back and forth playfully. "Hush!" scolded the timber, pressing a finger sterly angainst his own lips before opening the door. "Hey guy's we're back, Just gonna' head to bed now!" It was announced as loudly as possible but also as quickly as the wolf could spit it out.

Some response of afframtin to his plan was given from another room. From there Leon, followed by his brother, walked at a quickend pace through the house. As they made the trek for their rooms a familiar feeling fell upon the young dragon as his eyes fell upon his brother's swaying rump. He had been so mezmried by it that Rues failed to notice his brother had stopped in front of his own door. No doubt wondering why the juvinelle dragon had followed him there the older wolf spoke up with his inquiry. "Dude, why are you being a stalker?" He asked in a humorus tone, turning to catch just how transfixed those blue eyes were. It was no challange to put the peices togther. "Oh, right. I have a nice tail... ANYWAY it's bed time, in seprate beds, for the whole night." With that Leon justled inside his room and closed the door.

Shocked at the reaction he had just recieve Rues stood there in disbelief. His maw felt like it reached the floor below him and let a gasp escaped. Slowly, reluctantly he started a slow pivot, turning himself from the bedroom before him. About that time Leon popped the door open once more. "Wow you're a dope," he snickered, a look in his eyes that poured over his brother's body with wanting. "Get in here before somebody notices you."

Led into the room by one paw, Rues found himself being pushed onto the bed with another. His body landed with a soft thud as he bounced lightly on Leon's spring mattress. "Now how many times have me made love here?" Asked the colourless dragon, wearing a warm smile "Plenty of times. Espically to know that right now you're currently thinking about me... naked... from the waste down. Sound about right, huh?" Rues was doing just that, and his face told it too. But he'd never give his brother the satisfaction of admiting that. Well at least not right away. So instead of a verbal answer the younger teen gave a sweet pair of eyes, invinting the wolf to join him on the bed.

As he went to sit Ruse sprung a 'sneak attack' ensnaring the canine in a head-lock and sending them tumbling backwards. The little rumble could have been easily avoided but secrectly Leon was feeling as equally playful. "You are SOOOOOOO dead, ya' dope!" Roared the falling wolf merrily, his arms wrapping intametly about his lover's chest from behind. From there the 'struggle' ensued until the two boys were rolling around, laughing uncontralably on the floor. Paws groped wildly amd occasionaly a rambuctious mouth would give a tenative nip to an exposed ear or vaulnarable neck. Their frolicsome actions soon engrosed them entirly, leaving only the gasps of passion in the space between them.

"Ruuuuuuuuueeeessss! Get your boner off my tail. That is NOT happening!" Leon hissed sharply, finding himself below the weight of a younger sibling. Doing all he could to turn the situation around the eldest son attempted to stand. "Seriously bro, I can feel your meat literally bopping against me." Braking their bodies apart the eldest wolf stood. "Okay, that was basically my 'goodnight kiss' to my little brother. We have had A LOT of fun today so we need to just chill it for a bit. No need to press our luck. With that in mind how about I give my, erm... 'boyfriend' a real kiss goodnight?" It was brief kiss but was so satisfying. Rues began to leave the room with a frail wave goodnight. One paw gently resting on the doorknob; his body slightly turned to face his brother's. "Liebe dich, Brüderlein."

Night had set in, the world around Leon's room cased in darkness. He drempt very little but was still so far under the veil of sleep that every sound around him fell upon deaf ears. That is until a voice broke into his thoughts. "Leon! Hurry, get up!" Terror was ladien deep in Rues's voice demanding the eldest wolf to rise. Springing from his bed, the older brother stumbled to a stand, eyes as wide as Rues's with panic. "What? What?!?" He harbored no aggrivation in his question. This wasn't just a 'wake up, I'm bored' morning call. Knowing all to well by his brother's tone something was drastically wrong.

Quaking with his hindpaws turned inward and his white maw to the ground, Rues stood whimpering. He even looked as if he had been crying for a long time."It's our cousins! All I know is that they're in really big trouble and mom and dad won't tell me why but Leon I know why and you know why! Why else would their parent call ours saying that they have 'a family emergancy' this late at night when nobody's hurt?!?" It took a few seconds for the reality of the situation to set in. Miles and Kodie, being how they were, the explination was easy to come across. Late at night, well past the time most teens were asleep, and pretty careless about some things... Still no-one expected that they'd be found out so easily.

"Okay... Relax, this isn't the time to fall apart. They'll need us more than ever to support them like they have backed us up in the past. Is there any chance of getting down there? Of seeing either of them tonight?" Hastily the young dragon ran through every detail he knew of. By the end of it thought they had little power to react to this tragedy. "Okay, okay, okay... Go change, nothing flambouant, I'll get my keys and we'll go there. Beyond that... We'll just handle this as we go." Quickly the dragon teen dissaperaed from his brother's room, leaving Leon the chance to dress as well. His normal trappings of fashin were forgotten and his headfur was left ruffled. In a few minutes he heard the scatter of paws rush trhough the hall and towards the front door. Heading there himself he swiped his phone from off the stand.

The brother met at the front door, each of them wearing both sleeplessness and worry on their faces. No words were exchanged between them. No matter what could be said would fail to describe their fears. If Miles and Kodie were caught... The leap to figuring out Leon and Rues's secret was that far. Now faster than ever before, Leon tore down the roadway while behind the wheel, his free paw clasped around his brother's.

To make matter worse, when Leon pulled into his Uncle's driveway he saw that all were in attendace, his parents and his relatives. "Fuck! Rues... I begging you please, don't say anything to set them off. I know how much this pains you. Even so we simply cannot afford to give away too much information tonight. I know it seems like it could help Kodie and Miles but that couldn't be further from the truth. Telling them about us in order to support our cousins is only gonna' make matters worse for everyone." Starting to oppose, Rues swiftly fell silent thinking about the consequneces of announcing their love. At first blush it did seem like it would help. But as time passed the flaw in that plan was seen. The more he considered it the more he knew all it could do was force Leon and himsel to drift apart. So their paws loosen from one anothers grip and the two brothers left the car with heads held high.

Nearing the door they could hear a sound like crying. After a deep breath Leon knocked twice on the door, the first time only a tiny amount softer than the second. He didn't realize how hard he had pounded on the wooden door until a second later when his paw began to hurt. Hearing someone near the door from inside they prepared themselves. When it opened the boys were greeted by a minsiter wearing the typical black suit for his profession. A familiar face from last easter when the family attened a local church service. Presummably the only religous figure for their family "Can I help you gentl..." Leon didn't wait for the holy man to finish. Instead he pushed his way inside and let concern paint his face.

"Guys, what's up?" Leon asked in a voice cracked with sympathy. Scanning the room for his cousins he saw Miles leaning agaisnt the far wall. The yellow wolf leaned with eyes down-turned and ears poitned towards the ground like falling arrows. Kodie wasn't in the room but the assumption was the youngest pup was purposly seperated. Most likely assumed as the victim in some twisted deed. Everyone was too hesitant to make eyecontact. Rues appoligized to the preacher for his brother's action, explaining how they were feeling very distraught over the 'family emergancy;' except not in so many words. "Is everyone okay?" Leon asked trying to throw them off, avoidiong giving any hint that he knew the real reason they all gathered there.

"Leon, your cousins are in...very serious trouble. They were... 'caught' acting very inappropriate towards one another." Explained the doberman in the black garb, adjusting his white priest's collar. "Because of this we've all come together to discuss what can be done." The first thought in his head was to tell the priest that 'what could be done is for him to mind his own damn buisness' but that approach never really was a viable opption. Instead he went with a more tactful one. "So you mean they were fighting? I don't understand, Miles and Kodie love each other more than anyone. You don't honestly expect me to believe that brother's who are that close would come to blows, do you?" Leon was smart, pulling out all the tricks he picked up from Jack to lure the other side into seeing his point, empahsizing how close his cousins were. Now he knew that they would never physically fight, that was a given. If he could get at least a little attention pointing at the fact that they truley loved each other... Perhaps then an argument for 'live and let live' could be made.

"Sadly it wasn't anything so simple as just a scuffle that escalated. Leon, you're a young man so I know that you'll be able to understand the serious behind what I'm about to tell you." He rested a paw on the wolf's shoulder and wore a burdened look. His eyes floated past the teen and motioned fraily to his uncle and aunt. "Magret, would you and your husband be comfortable with me divulged the reason we have met tonight to Leon? He seems like he is close friends with his cousins and his support in these troubled times could have a great impact on the procedings."

Sitting at her husband's side Marget Looked at her son Miles and then back at her nephews. A voice too heavy from crying to object merely gave affrimation by sighing a 'yes' as she nodded. "Very well... But Rues, I do not wish to bring you into this so speedily. Perhaps it would be wise for you to wait outside. We promise your prescance here tonight is appricated but for now the best thing for you is to adjurn elsewhere." Neither brother was about to be split apart when they knew just how high the stakes were. Bravely the colourless dragon shook his head.

"If it's all the same to you sir, I'm not too young. I came here because Kodie and Miles are my friends. I don't wanna' leave them, 'sepically in a mess like this. Could I..." The elder males of the room looked as if they might object. Because of that Rues started to change his plea. "May I just wait with Kodie in his room? I know he'll be happy to see me... We're really close..." No-one with a heart could have denied the emotion-filled proposition. So leaving Leon alone the minister usherd the yound dragon pup off into the recesses of the house, returning shortly there-after with a solemn look. Leon's father spoke up, unable to put their faces level. "Son, please take a seat. This isn't going to be an easy night for any of us..."
