A Jaws/ Deep Blue Sea Crossover

Chapter 2

'...this is where you'll be staying,' Janice stated, stepping aside after opening a door. 'I know it's not much, but it's the best we can do...'

'No,' Sean interrupted, stepping past her. 'This will do nicely.'

Janice nodded. 'Alright. I'll let you settle in.' With a small smile, she closed the door behind her.

Sean relaxed as the quite settled in around him. The room was circular in shape, and fairly large at that. A bed was pressed to one side of the room with a locker for his things at its end, a crescent-shape desk complete with computer and test equipment stood opposite it. The main feature of the room, and the only one that Sean had a problem with, as the window that rand from ceiling to floor that made up a third of the rooms wall.

Settling his duffle bag down on the bed, he moved over to the window and stared out into the murky water. If he squinted hard enough, he was just able to make out the boundary fence.

'It would have to be a Great White,' he muttered to himself. A brief thought flashed through his mind, but he forced it away. 'No. it could be the same one.'

He glanced up, body tensing as he noticed the dark shadow that swam into his line of vision. It was large, almost as large as he remember the Shark from Amity to be. He watched as it swam towards him.

It had to be the Great White. Janice had explained that his room faced out into it's pen, and that It was the only one in it. Something about the shark being vicious towards others of its own kind. He watched it, his unease growing as it kept coming towards him. It was huge, dwarfing him. But what caused his body to lock up and his blood to freeze was what he saw on the right side of its snout. It was the exact scar.

'No,' he murmured. 'It can't be you. It can't be.'

The shark continued to swim closer. Sean scratched at the back of his head, unsure of where the sudden itch came from. Be backed away from the glass as the shark swam along its length. The itch intensified as those black eyes locked in on him, becoming a throbbing before something foreign invaded his mind.

:. Sean. It is good to see you again. .:

Startled, Sean glanced about. 'Who's there?' he demanded.

A tap on the glass, making Sean look back. The shark had turned, swimming back along the glass. Those black eyes were focused on him, making him shiver--for what reason, he didn't know.

'It was you, wasn't it?' he asked.

The shark seemed to nod his head. :. Indeed. It is good to see you again after so long. You have grown. .:

Sean shook his head, closing his eyes and turning away. 'This isn't happening. This isn't happening,' he muttered to himself.

:. Hardly. You cannot shut me out, Sean. Especially when you are to be "looking after" me. .:

As much as he hated to admit it, but the animal was right. He opened one eye, glancing back at the window. If he didn't know any better, he would have sworn the shark was smirking.

The great beast's eyes narrowed on him. :. I have a name Sean. .: it growled. :. It's Jaws. .:

'Jaws,' Sean muttered, testing the name out. Somehow it was fitting for the creature. 'It wasn't you who attacked Amity, was it?'

No response.

Uncomfortable, Sean decided to move on. 'How can you be talking like this?' he asked.

:. It is because of all the experiments your kind did on me. .: the shark turned and swam along the glass once again. The eyes shifted, and Sean got the impression he was looking towards the surface. :. It seems the other humans are gathering above the surface. I believe you should be heading topside. .:

Sean blinked at the dismissal. He watched as the huge fish turned and began to swim off into the gloom of the pen. 'Jaws?' he called out.

The huge fish turned, looking back at him. :. Yes, Sean? .:

He knew it was a stupid question, but he had to ask it. 'Will I see you later?'

Those shark teeth, larger than his hands, flashed as the shark turned and continued to swim off. :. You can count on it. .: the response faded the further the shark got.

.o.O.o.

The birthday party of Susan McAlester was winding down, several of the other scientist almost drunk. Sean played with the glass of water that sat in front of him. He wasn't in a partying mood. He was thinking about what had transpired an hour earlier.

'Dr Brody.'

He glanced up, unsurprised to see the woman of the hour standing over him. Susan McAlester was an imposing woman when she wanted to be. Heck, when he was younger, she might have been the type of woman he and his brother would have chased. That is, until he came out.

'Dr McAlester,' he greeted back, glancing up at her briefly. 'Happy Birthday.'

She nodded. 'Thank you,' she said before taking a seat at his table. He watched her from beneath his particualy long eyelashes. 'I hope you are ready for tomorrow. I know it is short notice, but the experiment tomorrow--'

'Is none of my concern,' Sean interrupted. 'Dr McAlester, I'm not here to impede with your tests, though I don't agree with them.' The woman spluttered. Sean help up a finger, letting her know he wasn't done. 'I'm just here to look after the sharks.'

'I beg your pardon?' she choked out, staring at him in shock.

Sean stood, leaving his drink where it was. 'You don't have it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare for tomorrow.'

As he descended the stairs to the sea-level catwalks, he spotted Carter Blake applauding him out of the corner of his eye. He smirked back at him, nodding. Carter was cool. Sean had heard about him, that he swam with sharks with little to no protection gear. The man was friendly enough, if not a little gruff.

:. Sean. Causing trouble with the boss already? .: Jaws's voice floated through his mind. For a moment, Sean felt as if he was immersed in water, powerful muscles shifting to propel that massive body through the water.

Sean wasn't sure how to respond. He didn't want to sound crazy in talking to himself.

:. Just think what you want to say, Sean. I will hear you. .:

Really? Sean thought.

A chuckle filled him mind. :. Of course. .:

His mischievous side rising, Sean decided to put it to the test. Jaws is a... he started to think, using a sing-song tone to his thinking.

:. Shut up. .:

Sean chuckled, stepping into the elevator as the doors slid open.

:. You are going to regret that. .: Jaws growled as Sean only continued to chuckle. :. I promise you. .:

'I'd like to see that,' Sean muttered now that he was by himself in the elevator.

:. Don't worry, Sean, .: Jaws whispered, sending shivers racing through the young man's mind. :. You will. .:
