A Jaws/ Deep Blue Sea Crossover

Chapter 1.

The constant roar of the plane's engines was a constant companion to Sean Brody. The sounds of gears working was rather comforting to the young man. It drowned out the noise inside his own mind. Closing his eyes, Sean allowed the pure onslaught of sound to mask the outside world.

It had been twelve years since the incident with his older brother, the sail boats, and... the Shark. A chill racked its way down his spine when he thought about it. That... monster had terrorized his home for far too long. His father had "killed" it twice: once with an explosion, and the second time with an undersea cable. No one had seen fin or gill of the monster since that day.

That didn't stop it from killing his father. Two years after the events at Cable Junction, he had died of heart failure.

A jolt, thanks to a violent updraft, rattled the small seaplane pulling Sean from his doze. He pulled himself upright, glancing out the window. To his surprise, just below him was his destination. Aquatica, home of unique testing and the medical cure of the future.

'You might want to strap yourself in, Mr Brody. We're making our decent.'

Sean needn't worry. He hadn't bothered to take his restraints off. Even after twelve years, he still remained nervous when travelling over such vast amounts of water.

After a rather bumpy landing, Sean was grateful to once again be on a solid surface, even if it was grated and a meter above water. It was strange how his phobia worked.

'Sean Brody?' a voice called out. Sean turned towards the sound of his name, taking in the woman before him. She was young, not that much older than him. Slim figure, light blonde hair, and the most sincere pair of blue eyes he hadn't seen since his mother past on. Her clothes were simple underneath the white lab coat she wore. The smile on her face was warm and real. 'Welcome. I'm Dr Janice Higgins.'

Sean returned her smile as best he could, holding out his free left hand to her. 'A pleasure,' he responded.

Janice's left hand gripped his firmly, the sun glinting of the gold band on her third finger. 'So, your resume was quite impressive. A masters in marine biology at nineteen. You must be a smart boy.'

'Not quite a boy,' Sean answered, his smile turning into a slight smirk.

Giggling, Janice nodded as she released his hand. 'I guess you're right. I apologise.'

Sean waved away her words. 'Here is no need for that.' He started walking, falling into step with the woman who was to be his superior for the duration of his stay. 'Why don't you tell me some more about the creatures here.'

'Well,' Janice started. 'We have several housing pens, the largest one holding two Mako sharks...'

The rest of her words faded from Sean's mind. He had frozen at the word shark. His eyes darted to the water, taking in for the first time the railings sticking out of the water. They widened when the sharp rectangle broke the surface before vanishing beneath the inky surface.

'Mr Brody?' Sean forced himself to look back at Janice, the shook snapping him back to reality. Janice took in his shaken form, concern filling her own eyes. 'Are you alright?' she asked.

Taking a deep breath, Sean nodded. 'Yes, I'm fine.' He gave her a reassuring smile, or at least tried to. It was more of a grimace than anything else. 'Shall we continue?'

Janice, unsure, obliged him. 'Are you sure?' she asked once more, just to be on the safe side.

Sean nodded. 'I'm sure, Dr Higgins.'

'Please, it's Janice,' she insisted.

He nodded. 'Alright then, Janice,' he agreed. 'Which one will I be looking after?'

Janice smiled, though unsure with her choice now. 'Follow me.'

Across the catwalk they went, heading around to the back of the facility. The walk only took a few minutes, but to Sean it felt like forever. The bag in his right hand was heavy, weighing him down. When they came to the edge, Sean stared down into the liquid. He stopped, not believing his eyes.

'What is it?' he asked, hesitating to look at Janice. 'What's in there?'

'You're looking after our jewel.' Janice glance at him. 'You're looking after our Great White.'

.o.O.o.

It was a rather boring existence, swimming around inside this cage. Jaw had swum the length of his pen for... he had lost count after the 70th time. The scientists looked in on him once or twice a day, the same ugly faces peering in at him.

Nothing new ever happened in this place.

Hey Jaws!

Rolling his one of his eyes as he swam along the joining wall, Jaws watched as one of the smaller sharks swam alongside him. The young one was a pain. He was just glad that the fence separated them, otherwise he would have eaten him long ago.

What do you want Strike? Jaws asked, not really interested in what the tiny mako had to say.

Did you hear? Strike, unknowing of Jaws's resentment, continued to chatter. There's a new human in the facility.

And, that matters to me why? he questioned.

The smaller shark seemed to be smirking at him. He's from Amity Island.

Jaws paused. Amity. He remembered that little island. He had had many good meals off that little stretch of coast. One human hand been an annoyance. scarring him the first time and trying to fry him the second. Honesty. He had merely been protecting his territory.

One little human in particular, however, had caught his attention. He had been so small compared to him. So small and fragile. Soft brown fur on his head, and those bright green eyes. So innocent.

So? Interested now? Strike asked.

Jaws ignored the small guppy and instead, headed for the surface. He didn't noticed the calls either. Reaching the surface, he turned his body side on to it so his dorsal fin didn't breach the surface. Swimming closer to the iron plates above, he observed the humans above.

The female he was familiar with. He saw her every day. But he male. There was something... It was him. His little human. The boy had grown into a man. He was still smaller than himself, but that was fine. Jaws like them that way. Easier to... No. This human wasn't prey. But Jaws didn't know what he was.

He would just have to wait and see.

Concentrating, Jaws managed to pick up on some of their conversation.

'...manage him?' the female asked.

'I'm not sure,' the male responded. 'Great Whites... favourite...'

Hmm, Jaws thought, swimming a little closer. It is good to see you still have an interest in the sea, young one.

'Well, shall...inside?' the female asked.

The male--...Sean, if he remembered correctly--nodded and the two began to head towards the main building. Jaws followed along them until they disappeared inside the steel column.

Sean, Jaws murmured to himself. It's good to have you close again.
