Flesh and Blood: Act 3

Ana gazed at her newly repaired skin and fur. Professor Solaski had done a wonderful job of fixing the damage that had been done, but her left hand was now a bit stiff to move. Still the damage to her mind was far worse; she was even loathed to look at herself in the mirror imagining a mesh of artificial veins under her light tan fur. The door to the chamber opened up and Lucas walked in and sat next to Ana, stroking her hair lightly.

"Feeling better?" Lucas asked her with genuine concern. Ana didn't say a word.

"Look I know you might think your something terrible, but your not. You're someone beautiful and wonderful." Lucas kissed her on the cheek. Ana looked up to him and then looked down.

"Ana, please don't act that way." Lucas pleaded with her.

"Well how would you feel if you found out that you were not flesh and blood? I feel like some kind of sick joke, or a puppet with twisted strings!" Ana said, her voice trembling, she turned away from him hoping that he'd leave her alone. However, Lucas gently took her hands in his.

"It doesn't matter if your flesh and blood or not... what matters is that you have feelings, and feelings make a person real." Lucas hugged the lapin, at first Ana was hesitant but she eventually hugged him back gently.

"I've convinced the professor not to erase your memory; this should be a learning experience for you. In a way I envy you Ana. You are innocent and lovely, those made of flesh and blood are sometimes corrupt and ugly, but you might as well be considered and angel." Lucas kissed her on the lips tenderly and smiled. Ana thought about it for a moment.

"Will you tell anyone...?" Ana inquired.

"Not another soul Ana, you are real to me and that is all that matters, and as long as I have you, I promise I'll never die." Lucas said and with that Ana hugged him tightly nuzzling her cheek to his chest listening to the vulpine's beating heart.

At first returning to the apartment was awkward for Ana, however she could not deny that she felt that she now belonged there. Lucas had already cleaned up the place; but refrained from making any sexual advances towards Ana, especially after this incident. However, he did show her all the gentle affection her could, he comforted her and talked to her. At first Ana would just muse over the words and nod or shake her head.

Soon though it was apparent that Lucas was quite enthralled with her and Ana started talking to him again. It would be a rough road ahead, but it was one they would brave together. The next day Lucas walked down to the apartment manager's office in order to pay the rent. He made sure that Ana would not do anything rash and that if she had an issue to call Lucas first.

"Good morning Alonzo." Lucas said, the kangaroo looked up nervously and smiled

"Oh! G-good morning there, came to pay the rent?" Alonzo seemed jittery and nervous. Mostly it was the fact that he was on the verge of loosing his apartment complex. Vulcan-Tech was making it more difficult for land owners to hold onto property. Three other apartments had already been arbitrally demolished. Vulcan-Tech was muscling in on the private sectors.

"Yep!" Lucas responded swiping his card through the payment machine. It beeped and accepted his transaction. Lucas waved to the kangaroo and then returned back up to his apartment. When he opened the door Ana was on the couch watching the T.V. specifically about music. Lucas sat next to her and gently pulled her close to him.

Ana lay her head on his shoulder as before but sighed softly.

"Lucas do you really believe I am real?" Ana asked, a slight tremble in her voice.

Lucas nodded and kissed her on the head. Lucas had an idea and he picked up the remote switching on the music center. He shuffled through the songs before he found the one song that was written quite some time ago by a cat named William Joel, it was called "The Way" and it was a love song of some classic sentimental proportions.

"Care to dance?" Lucas said standing up and holding out his hand. Ana took his hand and hugged to him as they danced to the song. Ana was puzzled why Lucas chose that song, but the words to that song soon became very apparent that it was all Lucas wanted to say to her. He did know the lyrics and he whispered along with them, whispering them to Ana softly.

Ana could not deny that Lucas made her feel safe and secure and she pressed against him with a soft smile. Was she happy? Wait, being happy was a real emotion right? Not just some kind of fabricated programming? Ana felt more than alive at that moment. Her joy was more than she could describe, she had just realized that she wasn't just some emotionless doll. That if a being, any being had feelings they were truly alive.

They danced for a while then when it was time to go to bed Lucas waited for Ana to snuggle up to him. Lucas did not care if it was silly to love a synthetic being, he respected everything about her. He was about to drift off to bed when Ana embraced him and moved over him, giving him a tender kiss as her hands wandered his body.

There was no doubt what Ana wanted, and Lucas was all too happy to oblige as they made love gently under the covers of the bed. In the morning they both awoke and smiled to each other before they got up to have breakfast. Ana was now much more conversational in demeanor. Lucas was glad that she was feeling better about herself. Little did they know the disaster that was about to befall their humble residence.

"Mr. Jones I must object!" said Alonzo crumpling and tossing the paper statement on the ground in defiance. The kangaroo seemed to growl at the wolf standing before him.

"Sorry Sir but you are unable to maintain the price of this property and since this is a free market you are still under the rules of business. Accept our proposal and you will get a handsome amount for your land, you will have ample time to have your residents find new dwelling." Jones adjusted his tie and grinned.

"And if I refuse?" Alonzo said glaring at the wolf, who was at the moment, trying to strong arm him.

"Then we will have it sanctioned to remove you and your occupants by force." Jones said his expression turning to one of hostility. Alonzo did not know what to do. He didn't want to give into their demands and yet he didn't want Vulcan-Tech's puppet to deploy the Keepers. Vulcan-Tech's private army had a bad habit of leaving behind corpses by accident. Alonzo made his decision when he saw the wolf making a smug expression.

"How about I give you the finger, and tell you evil bastards to fuck off!" Alonzo said extending his right middle finger in the ever insulting gesture.

"You disappoint me..." Jones said before turning and leaving. Alonzo uneasily made his way for his office. He would warn everyone tonight that they needed to leave; he sat at his computer and quickly typed in his access code. He began refunding the money that the residents had paid yesterday morning. He would not take their hard earned money and run, he would make sure Vulcan-Tech got no pleasure from evicting his occupants.

Alonzo had just finished the last transaction when he heard the heavy stomping of boots on the tiled floor. He could not believe that Vulcan-Tech had already deployed their mercenary forces. Alonzo was about to pull the fire alarm when one Keeper kicked in the door to the office and raked gunfire across the kangaroo's chest. Alonzo fell to the ground in a bloody mess and the Keeper turned and walked out.

Once the Keeper was gone Alonzo stirred, he was a bloody mess, but he was not dead yet. Weakly Alonzo reached for the fire alarm.

Ana gasped in surprise as the fire alarm went off. Lucas looked up and scratched his head lightly.

"Is Alonzo performing a fire drill? Or did some cubs pull the switch?" Lucas mulled, suddenly there was a scream from down the hall and the sound of kinetic energy weapons firing. Lucas grabbed Ana's hand and hurried leading her to the bedroom.

"Pack quick, we have to go!" Lucas had heard of this before, it was the topic of massive controversy and numerous violation of rights. Vulcan-Tech's Keepers would evict residents from condemned buildings. It took no more than three minutes for them to pack up some clothes and they headed for the door.

Yet, before they could get to the front door it burst open by itself and two Keepers clad in armor came running in. Lucas barely had time to thrown himself on Ana to keep them from getting hit by gunfire. Lucas rolled with Ana to protect her.

"The emergency exit! That way!" Lucas yelled pointing to the back hallway of the apartment. All apartments were now built with an emergency escape route in case the front door was blocked. Ana scrambled to her feet and Lucas followed looking over his shoulder as one of the Keepers peeked around the corner and began to take aim. Ana flung open the emergency door and Lucas dove onto her again as shots whizzed by them.

Lucas kicked the door closed and started getting to his feet, but he staggered back down to one knee. Ana looked with concern to him, but he grabbed her hand and ran for the elevators at the other hallways end. Luckily for them once the door was used the lock fused to prevent fire from entering the hall, it even kept out pesky soldiers.

Ana then noticed that Lucas had been hit in the lower flank of his abdomen. He was bleeding badly, but the fox just clutched the wound and pressed the button for the elevator. Suddenly the door burst open in an explosion of flames; the Keepers came through just as the elevator doors opened. Lucas tackled Ana into the elevator and rolled to the side with her to avoid them shooting into the elevator.

The elevator doors started to close. One of the Keepers desperately fumbled for something from his belt and slid it across the floor. It was some kind of grenade that was shaped like a hockey puck. Lucas and Ana both gasped as it beeped skidding towards them. Then it went off and the world went black to both of them.

Ana opened her eyes, it was hot, quickly she tried to gather her wits, she was now more aware than ever of her artificial nature because now she was getting all kinds of bells and whistles telling her that her systems were damaged. She did an internal check most of her mobility was functional. Then she realized that part of her head was on fire, she rolled around as her pain sensors shouted warnings to her. Eventually her rolling around smothered the flames against the elevator floor and after a few seconds she had the fire completely out.

Ana looked around shaken; then she realized that Lucas was laying there and not moving. Ana's vision was starting to glitch, but she forced herself to move. Her limbs responding to her neural core, she got to her hands and knees and crawled over to Lucas. The vulpine was in bad shape, his back had been peppered with shrapnel and the bullet wound oozed out blood. Ana turned him over and pressed her still functioning ear to his chest.

His heart beat was erratic and his breathing was shallow. Ana heard the elevator chime and the doors opened exposing the first floor. Ana grabbed Lucas by the belt and started to drag him to the doors. Suddenly she felt something grab her ankle and Ana looked down to see Alonzo gasping in his last dying breaths.

"Shot gun... in... the office... under desk..." the kangaroo gasped and then collapsed to the ground dead. Ana hated to do so, but she left Lucas laying there as she ran into the office and retrieve the double barreled sawed-off from under the desk. Another warning flashed in her mind telling her that her memory core was corrupted and that her systems were shutting down. Ana desperately forced her systems to stay online, she had no choice but one. She began to overwrite her own logic kernel, she began to compress any functions and reprogram them over the useless data first, then any secondary sub routines.

Ana had only one priority in mind; she had to get Lucas to someone that could help. She walked out of the office and back to Lucas who was still lying injured and unconscious on the floor. Ana grasped him by the belt with her left hand and held the shotgun with her right hand. The regular elevator doors open and Ana swung the shotgun around.

A single Keeper came out of the elevator and had a stunned look on his face. However Ana, like everything that was created in the sense of artificial intelligence, had programming that prevented her from harming a living being. Ana could not pull the trigger and the Keeper fumbled to pull up his gun. Ana adjusted her aim to the right and pulled the trigger.

She scored a hit on the fire extinguisher with a blast of twin buckshot and it exploded knocking the Keeper off his feet and back against the wall, the gun skittering from his grasp. Well technically it had not harmed him. Ana continued to drag Lucas dropping the shotgun, she hauled him out to the car. She fished in his pocket for his car keys and opened the backdoors hefting him onto the back seat.

Ana did not know how to drive, but she was a quick study finding out which was the brake when she pressed the gas and backed the car up into another parked car with a gentle crunch. Ana held down the break and grimaced, she had to overwrite more of her functions as another corrupt data warning flashed in her mind. She compressing more data and was running out of space; an expanding balloon in a shrinking box.

Ana had to uncompress some data causing another error in order to remember the way back to the R & D facility where they had been the previous day. When she arrived at the facility she deleted that data and compressed even more information and overwrote more functions. Ana was having more trouble controlling her body as she dragged Lucas from the vehicle.

In the R & D area in the building Jessica moaned as she felt Jonathan gently squeezing her breasts through her lab-coat. They had been in this secret little affair for quite some time now. Of course, it was hard to suppress the urge to be naughty when working the mid-day shift, everyone else was out to lunch, but Solaski had promised to bring back lunch for the two.

"Oh Jon... wait what if we get caught?" the lapin panted hotly as she felt the black wolf rub his leg up between her thighs.

"That's why its' so fun." Jonathan said huskily and licked her left ear which only made Jessica gasp softly in lust. Jonathan grinned as he knew that they could accomplish this quickie right in the blind spots of the cameras.

Jessica could only helplessly tremble as Jonathan reached up under her long skirt and pulled her panties down. The black wolf lifted Jessica's lab-coat and skirt while he undid his own trousers and pulled down his boxers. He was already at full raging hardness as he reached down and stroked over Jessica's little bunny mound.

Jessica could not stand it anymore and she reached back to the wolf standing behind her as she bent over the table. Grabbing a hold of Jonathan's cock and guided the tip to her slit, pressing the tip to her exposed opening. Jonathan thrusted forward and gasped feeling his cock enveloped by that wet sheath of flesh.

Jessica stifled a scream of pleasure and she gently clutched the end of the lab table as Jonathan grabbed her hips and pulled back, then thrusted forward brutally one more repeating the motion as Jessica rutted back to him. Jessica flexed her lower body making herself grasp around that pounding hard wolf cock. Jonathan grunted as pounded into the hot little lapin.

Jonathan's wolf member fucking that tight little bunny cunt; plunging it into her each time that long shaft invaded past her cervix and the tip of it bumping to the back of her womb. Jonathan savored the feel of bottoming out in his lover as he strove to release into her body.

Jessica was just as wildly turned on as he was, her body bucked and she writhed herself back against him wantonly. Suddenly Jonathan stiffened and plunged his knot into her as he softly grasped the back of her neck with his jaws. Jessica felt Jonathan's hot liquids spill into her belly, filling her chamber with hot fluids before he pulled out slowly with a moan and he let go of the back of her neck.

"Mmmm... you know that's dangerous baby, one day you're going to leave a mark and we'll get caught." Jessica said playfully. Jonathan only grinned to her as he zipped up his pants, Jessica following by pulling her panties up. Suddenly there was a knock on the security door. The black wolf and the white lapin scrambled to give the appearance of decency and Jonathan peered into the vid-screen peephole of the secret access elevator room.

Jonathan was surprised to see Ana, with a partially burnt away face and head. One of her ears hung from her head uselessly and her fur was terribly blackened. Her neuro-core brain was exposed and glowing bits of information could be seen coursing over the receptors, she frantically pounded on the door.

"H-hel-help!" She said stuttering unnaturally. Jonathan hastily unlocked the door and to his surprise it was not only Ana there but Lucas lying in an increasing pool of blood, stains from him being dragged across the floor made a messy smear. Then Ana began to twitch.

"L-lo-logic c-core over... heat... save... L-Lu-c-cas..." Ana said and slumped to the ground, the last thing she heard was Dr. Korbas shouting for Dr. Venus to call for emergency medical support and the last thing Ana saw was Lucas unconscious, bloody but still breathing.

The lights were bright and Lucas felt like he had been tossed through a wood chipper. He tried to move but only pain shot through his body. Then he heard a familiar voice, it was the voice of Professor Solaski.

"Where's... Ana?" Lucas gasped, he could barely make out the features of the male rat that was standing over him.

"She saved you; we are going to take good care of you Mr. Nelson. Ana is... indisposed at the moment." Professor Solaski frowned down to Lucas. Even though Lucas tried to get up he couldn't so he just slumped back into sleep.

When he next woke up he was in a room, in this room he was sitting in some kind of strange blue solution. He was actually feeling better and able to move. Professor Solaski then entered to room.

"Nanite solution, it can be used to dissolve or to repair tissue." Solaski said looking down at his data board.

"It is actually quite amazing Lucas... may I call you Lucas?" Solaski looked to the vulpine who nodded.

"Ana was mentally evolved to a whole new level. When faced with the task of saving you, she did things that no other artificial intelligent beings are capable of. She actually destroyed all her core programming in the process." The Professor looked to Lucas, the fox had a look of horror on his face.

"She... killed herself?" Lucas said trembling. Solaski cleared his throat.

"In a manner of speaking, not exactly. Damage from fire and heat started to corrupt her logic core and thus she had to overwrite all necessary information into any space she could find within her mind." Solaski sat next to the solution tub as he explained.

"We were able to salvage what was left of her logic core, but unfortunately she will not remember any previous events. Her brain, so to speak, endured too much damage. She literally hacked her own brain to preserve your life. She can re-learn skills but she has no recollection." The Professor stood up while Lucas thought it over.

"She won't remember me?" Lucas inquired feeling the sorrow welling up in his chest.

"You can make new memories for her..." The Professor smiled "After all, you're our new anthropoid councilor." And with that Solaski left the room.

A week had passed and Lucas was now back on his feet; he was nervous as ever, he was still a bit shaky from his injuries, but nothing serious. He looked at the input on his data board, Dr. Korbas, and Dr. Venus had made astounding improvements to Ana. Since she was a prototype it was easy for them to upgrade her.

First in line they had made a secondary fluid layer, if her skin got punctured she would bleed a solution that was the color of blood similar and nearly perfect in every way to real organic fluids. They had installed a new behavior program which made her breathe as if living, they even went as far as to give her a heart beat and pulse. All of the modifications made from assessed testing, and advice from Lucas.

Lucas glanced to the door in front of him and entered his code on the keypad. The door slid open and he walked in. Ana was sitting in a chair looking over some different color changing blocks with curiosity. They had done an excellent job of fixing her; she looked no different from the first day that Lucas had laid eyes on her. Lucas cleared his throat and Ana looked up to him after a bit tilting her head to one side.

"Hello Ana, my name is Lucas." He said with a warm smile. Ana imitated the smile, she had that first time blank stare in her eyes and Lucas approached and sat down in the chair next to her.

"I'm here to talk to you." He took her hands in his. Ana looked down at her hands in his and she blinked her eyes slowly.

"Listen, I don't know if you can remember... but you saved me, you are truly brave." Lucas said, he wanted to tell her that he loved her too, but it was too soon for that, she was still struggling with what she knew, but he was sure that given a couple days that she would start asking questions and he would have answers for her.

"I know you can understand me, even though right now it looks like your not paying attention. I want to let you know that I... I'll be there for you..." Lucas said, he tried to get all of his emotions off his chest and act professional to her.

Lucas wondered if she was recalling anything. He experimentally pulled her close and she seemed to automatically place her head against his chest. He let her hear his heart beating and he could also feel her heart beating as well, almost in time with his. Ana made a noise that sounded like a sigh and Lucas sighed as well before releasing her.

"Well Ana, I... I will be back tomorrow to check on you... I hope you sleep well tonight." Lucas said standing up and he backed up a bit before waving a little to her. Ana in a very zombish way mimicked his gesture. Lucas turned around to walk out the door when he heard something.

It seemed to be a very familiar tune, and Ana was humming it. As she hummed it Lucas stopped and listened. He looked back over his shoulder to her, but Ana was just smiling as she looked at the blocks turning different colors, still absent mindedly humming that little tune. Lucas began walking to the door, but as he walked towards the door he was also whispering the word to the song "The Way".

"Goodnight... Lucas." said Ana still gazing blankly at the cubes. Lucas stopped whispering the words and gave a smile; he suppressing the starting tears welling in his eyes as the door closed behind him. Ana sat there and hummed merrily to herself. Why was she so fond of this stranger that had just talked to her, she felt connected to him somehow. She watched the blocks change colors and a slight smile started to form, it was the start of a new life.
