In our last story Galinoth had finished paying penance for his sin. But an urgent matter had arisen. The Dark master was performing some sort of ritual. The results of the ritual were unknown bur he must be stopped. Our heroes arrived too late as the ritual was already complete. Gaul and Skullblaze had risen from the dead and were hungry for blood.

Chapter 13: Their doom descends

"I killed you before and I can kill you again." Galinoth sneered.

"Not likely, my powers have been enhanced thanks to the Dark master!" Skullblaze retorted.

"Why don't you prove it then?" Galinoth challenged.

"Gladly!" Skullblaze bellowed.

Within seconds the two enemies were fighting like there was nothing else to do. Striking left and right hoping in vain to strike a killing blow against each other.

They began to circle one another to try and find an opening. Skullblaze struck first with frightening speed and ferocity to match. He sent Galinoth reeling and went in for another attack. But Skullblaze didn't realize that it was a ploy to get him to lower his guard. Galinoth lashed out with his left leg and kicked Skullblaze right on his right temple with a sickening crack. Skullblaze fell to the floor but to everyone's surprise he got back up again.

"Nice try, but that won't kill me anymore." Skullblaze said. It sounded like he was mocking Galinoth.

"I'll have to try something new then." Galinoth replied.

To everyone's surprise Galinoth grinned.

"What's so funny?" Skullblaze demanded.

"Nothing, well while we were fighting I was analysing your weaknesses." He replied. His grin got even wider. But by now his armour had turned grey.

"Why is his armour grey?" Cynder asked.

"I bet we are going to find out." Naomi replied.

No sooner had she finished speaking a giant gust of wind blew Skullblaze of his feet and sent him flying into a wall with bone crushing force.

"What was that? Spyro asked.

"I can control other elements beyond the known four including wind." He replied.

"Wow." Was all Cynder could manage to say before Skullblaze struck back. The blow sent Galinoth skidding across the room.

"You still don't get it do you?" Skullblaze asked.

"Get that you are a complete and utter jack-ass?" Galinoth retorted.

Skullblaze roared and charged at Galinoth.

Predictable fool thought Galinoth. He knew if he pushed Skullblaze he would get this reaction. This was exactly what he wanted to happen. Galinoth raised his gun arm and unleashed a barrage of storm bolter and plasma blaster fire upon the thing. Mere seconds later Skullblaze was reduced to pulp and no magic's in the universe could revive him now.

"My turn!" bellowed Gaul.

Before Galinoth could turn he was struck in the side of the head by the dual blades on Gaul's arm. Although they didn't penetrate the armour they did knock him flying. He ended up halfway across the room when he landed. To the surprise of Gaul, Galinoth just got up.

"I hope you're not going to be as easy as that mess on the floor." Galinoth said.

"Oh im far worse than him" Gaul replied.

"Yeah right." Galinoth said.

With that done they lunged at each other with unmatchable ferocity. They fought for ten minutes to find a weakness in each others guard. But to no avail. Not one of them was letting down their guard for one second. But then Galinoth slipped on an ice patch. This was all that Gaul needed. He slashed left and right hoping to penetrate this warrior's armour. Then he was rewarded with a howl of pain as his blades found a weak spot in Galinoth's armour and dug deep within his skin.

"I'll make you pay for that!" Galinoth bellowed.

With a left hook to the temple Galinoth had sent Gaul sprawling across the floor. He charged at Gaul again who brought up both his bladed arms. Galinoth noticed this but couldn't react in time. With a look of triumph on his face Gaul shredded through the breastplate of Galinoth's armour and opened up huge gashes along his sternum which caused Galinoth to blackout.

"Now it's your turn spyro!" Gaul bellowed.

The vile ape lunged at the dragon who unleashed of lightning attacks that would have made any creature great pain. But Gaul just shrugged it off and sent a kick aimed at Spyro's face. Spyro managed to dodge it in time and he lashed his tail out and hit Gaul right in the face.

While the fight was going on something was happening back at the temple.

"What's that noise?" Terrador asked.

"I don't know." Ignitus replied.

Then the temple began to rumble violently. Then to the east they noticed something was coming out of the ground. When it had fully risen the dragons went to investigate. When they arrived at the construct they were baffled as to what it was.

"What are these things?" Cyril asked.

"They look like squids of some kind." Replied Volteer

Then all of a sudden the *squids* began to glow a luminescent yellow.

"What is happening?" Ignitus asked.

Before anyone could answer the things zipped of with frightening speed. But one seemed to be ill and went into the side of the mountain. With a huge explosion the side of the mountain came clear off.

"What in the world was that?" Terrador asked.

"They are a kind of weapon that was used by Galinoth's people." Ignitus replied.

"How do you know that?" Volteer asked.

"It says what they are on this panel." Ignitus stated.

Everybody was looking at the panel when a voice began speaking out of nowhere.

"Class 5 ballistic drones, used for sieges and ship to ship engagements, when they contact the target the energy core inside detonates and causes catastrophic damage, their shape allows them to breach any shielding" the voice said.

"That was interesting." Volteer said. Wonder was evident in his voice.

But the voice continued.

"This is weapon platform ZETA-5, Function: defence and emergency, can be operated manually by remote terminal at the outpost at Dante's freezer, please state request." The voice said.

"What does it mean state request?" Cyril asked.

Before anyone could reply the voice spoke.

"This weapon platform is also a repository of knowledge, please state request."

It said.

"What is the target for the drones that have just been launched?" Ignitus asked. Grasping what the machine meant.

"Processing request, one moment........... Target is Guardian outpost at Dante's freezer, launch authorized with security code *ALPHA GAMMA 543*, code belongs to Soldier Galinoth of the third battalion"

The dragon's breath caught in their throats at this development.

"Why would he do that while they are there?" Cyril asked. The confusion he felt was evident.

"He must have wanted to do this as a last resort." Ignitus suggested.

Back at the outpost everyone was unaware of the sudden development and the fight was not looking good for spyro. Gaul's strength was beyond what he could handle. The battle had raged for a full hour before Gaul got the upper hand and knocked spyro to the floor. But before Gaul could strike the killing blow Galinoth said something.

"It is done." Was all he said.

"What do you mean?" Cynder asked.

Before anyone could there was a tremor that shook the whole room.

"What was that?" The Dark master asked.

"Your death." Galinoth replied.

A huge explosion ripped through the compound which flattened several towers.

"You really didn't know what this place was?" Galinoth asked.

"Yes, it was a fortress belonging to my forces." The Dark master Replied.

"No, it was an outpost that belonged to my people." Galinoth corrected.

"Why was there no sign of your people then?" The Dark master challenged.

"Because most of it is now underground." Galinoth replied.

Then another explosion ripped apart the old Fortress that was used to imprison Volteer al those years ago. Shrapnel from the fortress impaled Gaul through his head, killing him instantly while some shredded the wings of the Dark master.

"What is happening?" The Dark master bellowed.

"I've ordered the destruction of Dante's freezer." Galinoth stated.

"But how, there are no weapons that could do that?" Cynder stated.

"That is where you are wrong Cynder; I have activated a hidden weapons platform that was armed with class 5 ballistic drones that are more then capable then levelling half of this world." Galinoth said.

Before anyone could reply Galinoth and the others were beamed aboard a shuttle in the underground hanger. With haste Galinoth activated the shuttle and flew away just in time as dozens of the drones impacted on Dante's freezer at the same time causing a massive explosion which caused the ground to give way and collapse.

"Lets just hope the Dark master didn't survive that." Galinoth said.

By know the whole of Dante's freezer had disappeared. There was nothing left of the ice land.

"How did you do that?" Cynder asked.

"While Gaul was fighting spyro I noticed the console, I managed to get to it unnoticed and activated it, when I found that the console controlled a weapons platform I ordered it top destroy Dante's freezer." Galinoth replied.

It only took them ten minutes to get back to the temple. The others were waiting for the group at the entrance to the temple.

"Welcome back young dragons." Ignitus said.

"It's good to be back." Spyro replied.

Then the elders glared at Galinoth.

"Why did you risk the lives of Spyro and Cynder at Dante's freezer?" Cyril asked.

"Wait he......" Spyro began to reply but was cut off by Galinoth.

"It's a fair question which deserves an answer." Galinoth said.

"Well?" Cyril asked impatiently.

"The Dark master was using the fortress as a base for his rituals, I couldn't allow him to desecrate it any more then he already had." Galinoth replied.

"But you risked the lives of Spyro and Cynder." Terrador said.

"I knew what I was doing, before I ordered the weapons platform to destroy Dante's freezer I first located any possible escape route, I found a shuttle bay which contained several shuttle's, we used this one to escape." Galinoth said.

"As long as they were safe then that seemed only a fair thing to do." Volteer said.

"What of the Dark master?" Ignitus asked.

"He was trapped under some debris, he couldn't move, but I have the feeling that he managed to escape." Galinoth replied.

"Lots hope he didn't." Cynder said.
