#4 of Life Goes On Sidestory: Fantasy #1 - Floating in the Sea of Love

'He's really gonna kiss me! I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet! We just met yesterday!' I am broken out of my panicked thoughts by the sound of my cell phone ringing. 'Oh, thank god!' I think to myself as I quickly turn away from Xander and dig my phone phone out of my pocket. When I see "Mom" on the caller ID I think to myself, 'Huh, I never thought I'd be relieved to have mom interrupt me.' As I open my phone I take a quick glance at Xander who looks disappointed before I say, "Hey mom! What's up?" She sounds a bit agitated as she says, "Hi Joey. Sorry to bother you, but Miguel has been sitting here in the living room crying since you left. He said that you promised to help him build something today and it really upset him that you ignored him as you were leaving." My could feel my ears flattening against my head as I recalled my promise yesterday. I sighed and rubbed my forehead as I said, "Look mom. Just put him on the phone and let me talk to him." "Alright dear. Here he is."

I could hear Miguel lightly sobbing through the phone before he shakily said, "Hello?" His sad tone made me feel even more terrible before I said, "Hi Miguel. I'm sorry for forgetting to help you with your sword today. I'm really sorry." He sniffled as he said bitterly, "You didn't forget to go see your friend." I felt like an asshole after that comment, but I held strong as I said, "I know and I'm really sorry. Look, I'll make it up to you. You remember how I said I'd take you to the pool next week?" He seemed to have calmed down as he said, "Yeah." I tried to sound as excited as possible as I said, "Well, you know what I'll take you tomorrow instead!" I heard him gasp in joy as he said, "Really Joey! You mean it!?" I smiled widely as I said, "Yep! Just you and me at my school's pool tomorrow." He yelled for joy as he said, "Thank you Joey! Your the best big brother ever!" I couldn't help but blush as I rubbed the back of head and said, "No problem Miguel. Now I gotta go cause I'm with my friend right now. I'll see you when I get back home alright?" I could practically see the grin on his face as he happily said, "Alright Joey! See you later, bye!" and hung up.

I stretched my arms and legs out before laying against the bench. As I pulled my head back up I glanced over at Xander who was staring at me with his head tilted and a blank expression on his face. I smiled awkwardly as I said, "Um, what's up?" He grinned as he said, "Oh nothing. Just amused by how easily you went from being a terrible big brother to the best one ever in your little brother's eyes." I gave him a questioning look as I asked, "You heard all that!?" He pointed up at his ears and flicked them as he said, "A dog's hearing is better than most remember?" I laughed as I rubbed the back of my head and said, "Guess I forgot about that." He just chuckled as he said, "No problem. It's not as fun as it sounds though. I wish my hearing wasn't as good as it is sometimes." I looked at him curiously as I asked, "Ohhh? And why is that?"

He blushed a little as he said, "It's a little embarrassing to have to hear things you don't really want to hear in public bathrooms, I always end up eavesdropping on phone calls when I don't mean to, and it's the worst when you have to hear your parents going at it in the middle of the night right next door." I grimace as I think about what that would be like and give his shoulder a good rub as I say, "Sorry to hear that. Guess I should count myself lucky my hearing isn't THAT good." He chuckles and shrugs his shoulders as he says, "Yeah. Luckily I have ear plugs to deal with that last one." I laugh at that before he says seductively, "Now where were we?"

I get nervous again as he looks at me with a predatory glint in his eye. I just sit there twiddling my thumbs for a second before I decide to bite the bullet and tell him the truth, "Um uhh, I-I've never really... kissed... before." His eyes widen as he says, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know." I just blush and nod my head before looking down at the ground. He rubs the back of his head before saying, "Sooo, that does explain why you looked kinda relieved when you got that phone call." I slump forward as I feel the embarrassment weigh down on me even harder. I jump a bit as I feel him put his arm around my shoulders before saying, "It's alright. I'm not mad." I nervously say, "Your not?" He shakes his head as he says, "No. It's your first kiss. I understand you being nervous about it. Hell I was nervous when I had mine." I looked up at him in shock as I said, "You were nervous!?" He rubbed the back of his head as he blushed and said, "Well, yeah! It was my first time doing anything like that. Of course I was gonna be a little nervous."

I looked back down at the ground for a second to summon up my courage before I said, "Um, if you don't mind. Could you maybe tell me about it?" He grinned and chuckled as he said, "You really wanna hear about my first kiss?" I blushed as I slowly nodded my head and said, "Yes. If I'm not being too nosy?" He let of a big laugh as he said, "No not at all. But I have to warn you that it's kind of a long story that may be more boring than your expectin." I nod before he takes a deep breath and says, "Okay, so it happened when I was livin back in Tennessee four years ago." 'Tennessee huh? That explains the accent.' I quickly think to myself before he goes on, "I was fourteen and I'd been hangin around this mouse named Issac who was two years older than me. We'd know each other for a while cause he lived next door. He was kinda like a big brother to me. We went everywhere together; the mall, the beach, the park you name it. We were pretty close. So anyway, one day we were eating at the mall when I spotted this really cute older raccoon. Who now that I think about it kinda looked like you." He chuckled as I blushed and looked away, but kept going.

"Anyway, I'm sitting there checkin out the raccoon when Issac coughs and says casually, "Didn't know you swung that way." I got a little nervous cause at that point in my life I wasn't as open and confident as I am now. He just grinned as he put his hand on top of mine and looked me in the eye before saying, "You don't need to look so worried. Between you and me, I like guys too." I perked up at this before saying, "Really!?" He just nodded his head and said, "Yep." I was overjoyed to finally be able to talk to someone about these things. We spent the next two hour just walking around the mall talking about boys and pointing out different guys we walked past to rate them on their looks. I had so much fun that day."

"Moving on to the actual kiss. About a month after we came out to each other I had grown even more attached to Issac, following him around all the time and just admiring him. I guess after finding out he was gay too I sort of developed a bit of a crush on him." Xander blushed a little at this before he coughed and continued, "Anyway, we were hanging out all the time and one day we were in his room when I just threw out the question, "What's it like to kiss someone?" I don't exactly know why I asked that, but I did and he just looked at me curiously before saying, "You mean you haven't done it yet?" I just sat there and nodded. He chuckled and said, "A cute guy like you? That's a little hard to believe." It took a second for my brain to register that he had just called me cute, but when it did I blushed HARD. I just sat there blushing for a while staring at him before I stammered out, "Y-Y-You think I'm cute?" He got a big grin on his face as he said, "Well, yeah! Big soft tail, a nice body with a cute ass and those big blue eyes of yours. Any guy would be drooling over you." I couldn't believe my ears as he said these things, but there they were."

"As I sat there with my mouth gaping he surprised me even further when he rubbed the back of his head and asked, "Um, you maybe wanna have your first kiss... with me... right now?" It being my first kiss I was pretty damn nervous to be propositioned out of the blue like that, but being young, dumb and having that little crush on him I quickly got over it. I nodded my head excitedly and Issac quickly walked over to where I was sitting. He kneeled down until we were face to face and just smiled at me. We were both completely silent as he leaned forward to kiss me. I did feel a bit of the nervousness come back as he leaned in, but I just closed my eyes and let it happen. Despite it being my first kiss it was actually pretty good. I mostly just let him do all the work for a while, but after a few seconds I ended up trying to mimic him and did pretty good. When we broke the kiss I was panting for breath. As I recovered he smiled at me and said, "Not bad for your first time Xander. With a little practice you'll be having guys begging you to kiss them." I just sat there grinning for a couple minutes before his mother came in to check on us."

I sat there stunned for a bit before I said, "Wow. That was a sweet story." Xander rubbed the back of his head as he grinned and said, "Yeah. I guess it is now that I think about it. It could have been worse." His smile faded and he shrugged his shoulders before saying, "Well, of course things kinda fell apart with Issac when I had to move here to California for my dad's work." My own smile dwindled as I said, "I'm sorry that happened." He just chuckled awkwardly before saying, "Oh well. I guess that's life for ya. It does make me feel better to have told you that story. I hadn't told anyone that story before." I grinned as I said, "Really? Well, I'm honored you trusted me enough to tell it." He grinned back at me as he said, "Well, we may have just met yesterday but already I feel like I can trust you with anything. That's not creepy is it?" I laughed as I shook my head and said, "No not at all. I actually feel like I can trust you too." He smiled warmly as he said, "I'm glad you feel the same way."

He took his cell phone out to take a look at the time and said, "Huh, time sure flew. It's already 5 o'clock." I gave him a surprised look as I said, "Wow. I guess time really does fly when your with someone you like." When he turned to me with a big happy grin on his face I quickly looked away to avoid him seeing me blush again. He chuckled at my reaction as he said, "Awww. It makes me feel really good to hear you say that." He put his thumb under my chin and turned my face to look him in the eye as he said, "You don't need to look away from me when your blushing. I like seeing you blush. It's just so adorable." I blushed even harder as I unthinkly grabbed his hand and pulled him off the bench while saying, "Alright! I've had enough of the park. Lets go check on those movie times." He was caught off guard by this, but quickly recovered when he realized I was holding his hand. He looked back and forth between our hands and my face before gripping my hand back and pulling me along while saying, "Whatever you want Joey." I looked up at his smiling face and couldn't help but smile myself as we walked to the theater.
