Poem #69: Inside of a Box
#70 of Poetry
With the recent move, it's no wonder I wrote a poem about it. Enjoy. :)
Inside of a Box
Batches of boxes,
Packing peanuts and tape,
Gasoline and cash,
Fill up the week to come.
Packing away things
Used everyday fills
The day and passes away.
Keys, cleaners and sweat
Could fill the rooms and
Hallways of each new place;
Leaving the old empty.
Discovering forgotten things
For a brief window of time
Only to lose once more.
Forward and back
And back again
Distance between place and place
Becomes staggering.
It makes me happy and sad
And tired
To see my life put in
And reduced to
A bunch of cardboard boxes.
