#11 of Spyro: Light shall triumph

In our last story the Darkmaster had returned. A vicious battle ensued. Galinoth had been beaten back by the ferocity of the Darkmaster. He then tried to attack Spyro and Cynder but Galinoth pushed him off a cliff where the fight continued in the sky.

But he was beaten yet again and knocked unconscious. Meanwhile at the temple the others were shocked to learn the Darkmaster had returned. But while they were talking, the Darkmaster had attacked. As he was going to kill everyone Galinoth had showed up and got the Darkmaster to fight him again. Just as Galinoth was about to land the finishing blow the Darkmaster launched a dark energy ball at Galinoth. As soon as it dissipated everyone noticed that the Darkmaster had fled.

Chapter 11: A dark secret unfolds

After the battle at the temple everyone has been training harder and harder in order to become strong enough to at least face the Darkmaster. While the others trained at the temple Spyro and Cynder had been training with Galinoth. He was very impressed with the pair's progress and skill with guardian manoeuvres.

But ever since that day that the Darkmaster had escaped from the temple nothing but rage filled Galinoth. He also noticed that some of his scales were turning red. He thought nothing of it.

"All right you two, that's it for today." He said.

"How did we do?" Cynder asked.

"I'm amazed at your progress both of you, your both quick learners." Galinoth replied.

After a quick rest and some food the three of them decided to return to the temple. But as soon as they landed they knew something was wrong. It was too quiet. They could usually hear Volteer blathering on about something. They could hear nothing but an eerie silence. There were no signs of battle, nothing that would indicate an attack.

They decided to split up. Cynder and Spyro would explore the eastern and western sides of the temple while Galinoth would explore the northern and western sides of the temple. They had agreed to meet in the western side of the temple when they had finished exploring. After an hour Spyro and Cynder had found nothing in there searches and began to go to the rendezvous point in the western part of the temple.

"I don't like this." Spyro said.

"Neither do I." Cynder replied.

"Cynder, Spyro I have found something in the northern part of the temple, get here now." Galinoth said.

Ever since he found the talon he has been given new abilities including been able to talk directly into the minds of other creatures.

Spyro and Cynder made their way to where Galinoth had indicated. He was kneeling over a large pool of blood. His scans indicated that it was at least 3 hours old.

"The scanner indicates that the blood is not dragon blood." He said with evident relief.

"That's a relief." Spyro said.

"That's not the only blood pool you've found is it?" Cynder asked.

"No, it isn't." he replied.

"Were any of them from a dragon?" Spyro asked. He was afraid to ask that question.

"No." Galinoth replied. He was relived that there was no dragons blood.

"Whose is it then?" Cynder asked.

"All the blood belongs to dark apes." Galinoth replied.

"I thought I killed them all at Mt Malafor." Spyro said.

"Some managed to escape the destruction of the well of souls as you call it." Galinoth replied.

"Where are the elders?" Cynder asked.

"They have been captured." Galinoth replied.

"Where have they been taken?" Spyro asked.

"That I do not know, give me ten minutes and I will try to find where they are being held." Galinoth replied.

He then entered the room where the pool of visions resided. Spyro guessed that Galinoth could use it. After ten minutes he emerged with a crestfallen face.

"I'm afraid I couldn't locate them." He said.

"Can't you use your scanner to locate them?" Cynder asked.

"I'm afraid its range is very limited, these scanners are for scientifical use only." He replied.

"That's a shame." Spyro said.

"I will try to use........." He cut off in mid sentence.

"What's the matter?" Cynder asked. She was nervous when this happened and so was spyro.

Galinoth was experiencing visions. They showed him the elder dragons, they were in pain and shackled. The Darkmaster was torturing them. With an almighty roar, Galinoth collapsed to the floor. Blood was seeping from his mouth, nose, ears and eyes as the visions finally faded.

When he finally woke up he noticed that Naomi was crouched over him. He could tell she was worried.

"How long have I been out?" Was the first question Galinoth had asked.

"About three hours, you had us worried." Cynder replied.

"What happened?" Naomi asked.

"I had some visions." Galinoth replied.

"What kind of visions?" Spyro asked anxiously.

"The elders are shackled to walls, the Darkmaster is torturing them." He replied.

"HOW DARE HE DO THAT!" Spyro bellowed.

"Do you know where they are?" Naomi asked.

"Yes, they are at Cynders old fortress." Galinoth replied.

"What?" Cynder exclaimed. Her voice was trembling.

"When shall we go?" Naomi asked.

"We must go immediately; the elders will not last much longer." He declared.

With a grim finality they headed to Cynders old fortress with the utmost haste.

After an hour of travelling they arrived. But on there way Galinoth had noticed that more of his scales had turned that same sickly red. With horror he realised what was happening to him. He feared telling Naomi so he decided to keep it quiet.

"Be careful, who knows what kind of traps the Darkmaster has set for us." Spyro announced.

After another hour of walking they heard a scream and recognising it as Volteer. Galinoth led the group running to where they had heard the scream originate. It seems as if they were expected as an army of apes had descended upon them. Everyone took on the army with great ferocity. It only took minutes to defeat the pitiful resistance. Everyone was unnerved at the ferocity Galinoth had shown. It was as if he took pleasure in killing now. They put that aside and burst through where the scream had come from. What they saw shocked them to the core. The wounds on the dragons were horrific.

"So you've come to see the dragon elders die have you?" The Darkmaster said.

"We've come to set them free." Naomi retorted.

"Good luck......." He replied.

"ENOUGH!" Galinoth bellowed.

"My my, aren't we the little angry one." The Darkmaster replied. It sounded like he was mocking Galinoth.

Before anyone could reply, Galinoth had lunged at the Darkmaster and landed a nasty right hook below the Darkmasters jaw. Reeling in pain, the darkmaster didn't notice Galinoth was readying himself for another attack. With ferocity unmatched by any living being in existence Galinoth had beaten the Darkmaster to the ground in a matter of seconds.

"Have you ever seen him like this?" Cynder asked Naomi. Her voice was loaded with fear.

"No." Naomi replied. Fear was also present in her voice.

"What is that?" Spyro asked. He was pointing to where part of Galinoth's armour was missing.

"His scales are red, but he isn't a red dragon." Cynder replied.

"Oh no......" Naomi stuttered.

"What's the matter?" Cynder asked.

"We thought this condition was a myth." She replied.

"What Condition?" Spyro asked.

With a blood curdling laugh that made even the Dark master shiver Galinoth replied.

"THE BLOOD FURY!" he shouted at the top of the voice.

With another roar he lunged at the Darkmaster. This time he missed as the Darkmaster anticipated this and moved before he could get hit. And with a flick of his claw he sent Galinoth across the floor and smashed him into the wall. But this made Galinoth even more ferocious and violent. After ten minutes of intense fighting the Darkmaster was on the floor again, bleeding from many cuts and gashes all over his body. But then everyone noticed that Galinoth had not struck the blow that would end the Darkmasters life.

"He must still have some self control." Naomi said.

Naomi and the young dragons had freed the elders during the fight. They too were shocked at this sudden ferocity.

Many of the wounds that were inflicted upon the Darkmaster had healed. He rose back up and struck Galinoth down.

"I hope we can fight like that again." He said.

With the sound of thunder clouds clapping the Darkmaster vanished. There was no trace as to where the Darkmaster had gone to. Then they heard something crying and noticed that it was Galinoth crying.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Naomi asked.

"I couldn't, I was afraid of what might happen." He stuttered.

"I could've helped you." She replied in a soothing voice.

"You couldn't have helped me!" He shouted. "No on could've helped me!"

"We could try to help you control it." Ignitus chipped in.

"How?" Naomi asked.

"Something similar happened to me at the well of souls, I was touched by darkness and it consumed me, when I gained control of myself I also felt like you but Ignitus and the others managed to help me control it." Spyro replied.

"Is it possible?" Galinoth asked.

"Your condition is similar to the darkness that consumed spyro; I don't see why the same techniques that we used to help him shouldn't help you as well." Volteer replied.

"Thank you." Galinoth said before h blacked out from exhaustion.
