#7 of Time of War

well what's this I see? could it be a new chapter? Well I guess it is. Took me almost three months but this thing is finally out, I hope you all enjoy.

"Where is- ow." Rachel said after stepping on one of Celty's carelessly placed toys on the living room floor. After some stumbling and knocking over of items, Rachel was able to find the ever elusive TV remote. Rachel gave a cute, little victorious chuckle as she hit the power button, illuminating the dark room with a faint bluish glow.

Once her eyes had adjusted to the sudden illumination, and the stinging pain in her swollen foot had lessened enough for her to put weight on it, she walked over to Arada's recliner and sat down. She began to rock the chair gently as she rubbed her hand over her swollen belly in an attempt to calm her fussy infant, whom was the reason Rachel was up at three in the morning.

"Just a few more weeks little one, just a few more weeks." Rachel said in a whisper as she looked down at her belly; a large smile on her face. It had been close to nine months since Rachel had found out that she was pregnant with hers and Arada's second child, and now she was close to her due date.

"let's see what's on, little one." Rachel said, reaching for the remote and flipping through a couple of channels. After a bit of searching through mindless reality TV shows she finally settled on a show about two guys who buy storage units and sell the items inside them.

"Oh you're father loves this network," Rachel said softly, "if it were up to him this network would run non stop with action shows all day." She finished with a giggle. "And if you're going to be like your father, which I know you are," Rachel laughed quietly to herself, "then your going to be an action movie know it all." Rachel finished with chuckle and gentle caress of her abdomen.

When the show ended, Rachel could still feel her baby, moving around, and kicking her constantly. With a sigh, Rachel placed her hand over to stomach, "I guess I should just get to bed and try to ignore it, the doctor told me the baby would be getting restless in there." She said quietly to herself.

While Rachel was attempting to stand from her husbands chair, the difficult part being: not being able to bend forward because of her stomach. Rachel was knocking down items that were on either side chair. Nothing important or valuable, just a few knick knacks that could stay down until she could ask Celty to pick them up later.

"looks like nothing valuable got knocked down," Rachel said softly before taking one final look. That's when she saw it, the picture frame that Arada kept on a small table next to his chair had been knocked over onto the floor.

"I probably knocked it over when I was getting up." Rachel thought to herself as she carefully got down on her knee's to pick it up. Inside the frame was a photo of Celty sitting on Rachel's lap and Arada sitting next to them with his arm around Rachel. It was a photo from Almost two years ago. It was taken inside an amusement park that Arada and Rachel had taken Celty to for her fifth birthday.

"We'll have to update this picture when you get home." Rachel said as she began to focus on Arada in the picture. "We'll have to update a lot of pictures when you get home." Rachel began to get a little teary eyed as she continued to look at the image of her husband. "I know you're coming home, you always come home." Rachel kissed the image of Arada in the picture, and held the framed photo close to her chest as she began to sob.

Walking down the dark hall way, guided by the faint glow of the TV, a very sleepy and groggy Celty walked into the living room. "Mommy? are you in here?" The young pup asked as she rubbed her eye and yawned.

"Over here honey." Rachel did her best to answer Celty without sounding sad or show that she was about to start crying. "What's the matter honey, you can't sleep either?" Rachel asked when she had Celty in front of her.

Nodding to her mothers question the young pups eyes began to water as she began to sob. Before Rachel could say anything or put her arms around Celty and try to sooth whatever it was that was making her want to cry, Celty leaned in and wrapped her arms around Rachel. "I....I....I miss daddy. I want him to come home." Celty managed to say between sobs.

Rachel's eyes began to water again as she listened to her daughters crying. "I know baby girl, I miss him too." Rachel said before bursting into tears with Celty. Rachel wrapped her arms around Celty and brought her into a hug as the two continued to cry.

"Hey, I'll tell you what," Rachel said as she pulled Celty back a bit to look at her, "how 'bout you come lay down with me and keep me company, and I'll get up and make you your favorite pancakes because you've been such a good little helper in the house while daddy was away. Deal?"

Celty gave a sniffle but agreed with Rachel and gave her another hug. It was only after Rachel had scooted back a few inches, so as to use the couch as leverage to stand up, that Celty noticed an unusually dark spot on the carpet where Rachel had been sitting. Moving her foot over, and giving the spot a feel with her bare foot, she realized it was a wet spot. "Ew mommy did you pee?" Celty asked as she watched her mother stand up.

"What do you?" She cut herself off when she felt the soaked hem lining of her night gown touch her leg. "Oh my god." Rachel said in a whispered, shocked voice. She reached down to feel her crotch, and felt how soaked her panties were. "Celty, be a good girl and go get the cordless phone for mommy."

Obeying her mothers request, Celty went over to the cordless phone and brought it back to Rachel whom was now sitting on the couch, with the same shocked expression on her face. "Here mommy. What's wrong?" Celty asked placing the phone in her mothers lap.

"Nothings wrong dear." Rachel said, shock still present in her voice as she quickly dialed the phone and brought it to her ear. "But what you felt on the floor means the babies on it's way."

"Shade report. What does it look like from up there? Over." Zero said spoke into his headset as he, Tech, Jayden, and spark kept low in a field of tall dry grass.

"It's not looking too good up here sir." Shade responded into his own headset as he adjusted the scope mounted atop his riffle. "I have a visual on six centuries patrolling the roof top. One snipper in the northeast tower, and one, no; two fifty Cal. turrets facing the southern entrance. Over."

"Copy that. Rendezvous with the team. Seems the Recon info was wrong, we need to rethink our strategy. Over."

"I read you sir. Regrouping now. Over." Shade responded as he stood from his position and made his way back to his squadron.

"Where do you think the best possible entrance to the compound would be?" Zero directed the question to Spark.

"Well the southern entrance is out of the question. As is the north eastern, unless Shade is able to take out the sniper with out drawing attention." Spark said as both he and Zero surveyed the area using high power binoculars.

"It doesn't seem we will be able to take out any of the centuries on the roof without alerting the others." Zero said, lowering the binoculars. "We should have anticipated this; normally there is not this much heightened security."

"It's because Vladamire is coming to the compound. They increased security patrols to give themselves a look and feel of strength." Jayden chimed in from his crouched position; covering the rear. "Aziz needs to keep up an appearance of power in order to maintain his friendship with Vlad. Right?"

"Exactly right." Zero said with a nod, never taking his eyes off the target at hand. "Regardless," Zero said finally lowering his optics and turning to face his team. "no matter what element we posses, this mission may come down to a fire fight. And with heightened security our long range cover," Zero looked to Shade, "is vulnerable to attack from patrolling guards."

"What's our plan of attack, commander?" Spark spoke up after a few moments of silence. "We can't afford to loose the tactical advantage of long range attacks, if so we'd be sitting ducks down there."

Giving a sigh and a nod, Zero looked to his second in command, "I know, and that's why you're going to stay with Shade and provide cover for him while Jayden, Tech, and I infiltrate the compound and complete the mission."

"What? Zero, think about this for a minute."

"I have," Zero interrupted Spark before he could finish his argument, "you're a good soldier Spark, but if this does turn into a firefight, I'm going to need someone who can fight close quarters with an assault weapon."

Lowering his head, Spark could only nod and apologize for his questioning of Zero's decision. "Alright, Shade, Spark," Zero started as Tech handed him a small tablet with an overview map of the area already on the screen. "I want you to set up position here on the west side of the compound." Zero said as he zoomed in on the are. "There is a ridge with two large tree's perched on it, this will give you the best cover in this desert. This ridge is almost two stories high off the ground, so with the combination of elevation and distance, I say you're going to have a pretty good vantage point from up there."

"Sir, not to question your logic but, the west end is where the loading docks are located if I'm not mistaken. Won't there be surveillance and posted guards?" Tech asked.

"Yes, but those can easily be detected and evaded, and if need be disabled. Plus a loading dock means there will be empty and open crates, good places to hide bodies." Zero Answered.

The rest of the plan was discussed and the team of five began their fast march to the western side of the compound. Once there the team split, Shade and Spark moved to the high ridge they were to take up position from. Jayden, Tech, And Zero began to move towards the loading bay.

It was an area filled with shipping crates, not to mention the large eighteen wheeler flat beds and trailers everywhere. "Well, well, looks like It wasn't just Vlad that was coming to this party." Zero said as he over looked the trucks and trailers with his night vision monocular. "Those are Russian trucks." Zero said as he zoomed in on some men pulling crates from the trailers. "Vlad isn't just coming to see how things are going, he brought more weapons with him." Zero said as he lowered his optic. "Shade do you have a visual on the contents?"

"Oh yeah." Shade almost said with a chuckle in his voice. "Zero if you could see what I see you would call in an areal strike and not even think twice of failing the mission."

"I need more than that Shade what are you seeing?" Zero asked as he and his team moved closer and closer to the loading bay.

"Well let's just say they're that if we to blow this place up, everything in about a hundred mile radius is going to be decimated."

"You don't mean?" Zero said as he ducked behind a shipping container.

"Zero, the Russians are supplying them with plutonium, and a lot of it. I'm also going to guess these shipping containers are housing the missiles." Shade said as he fixed his cross hairs on a few men with hazmat suites on.

"This isn't good, this isn't good at all." Zero said "Spark report back to base, inform them of this new development." Zero lifted his monocular once again to his eye to examine the area. "Men, this operation has just taken a turn for the worst." Zero said as he lowered and stashed away his optic.

"Zero, this may may be too much for us to handle, I recommend mission abort." Spark stated as he too provided over watch from the ridge with Shade.

Zero pondered giving the order to abort the mission and come back with a strike team, or even call in the back up to assist in the mission. As he thought, he started to feel a sharp shooting pain in is upper left arm. 'protect the innocent, protect those you love.' "Shade, get ready to take out some targets when I call them out." Zero said as he turned to his team; the mic still active. "Team one is ago, the mission will continue. Moving to secure priority objective one."

As she laid there in her hospital bed, tears filling her eyes as she placed her hands over her flattened stomach, Rachel could not help but feel that this situation, this setting, it was all that she had experienced six years ago after she woke only to find her unborn infant daughter had died in her womb.

Though this time it was different, instead of being alone in the room, Rachel's parents, and her daughter Celty were in the room with her. Instead of looking around the room and seeing sadness stricken faces, she was delighted to see everyone with smiles on their faces and joyful tears in their eyes as the room was decorated with balloons and flowers, all with messages of congratulations on them for the new mother.

Though something was missing, and it wasn't until the door opened that Rachel realized what it was, and to her it was the most important. This time around when the door opened, it wasn't Arada walking in to tell his wife their child hadn't survived the car crash. No. This time around when the door opened, it was a nurse whom walked in, as she brought in a crib that was used in the maternity ward to put the new born's in. "Alright mommy, are you ready for him?" The female Zoroark asked Rachel as she lifted the new born Riolu from the crib and placed the healthy eight pound six ounce infant in Rachel's arms.

More tears flowed from Rachel's eyes as she gazed upon her new born son. "Hi there little guy, welcome to the world." Rachel said softly to her son as the little one slowly began to open his eyes, revealing his bright crimson red eyes. The biggest smile spread across Rachel's face as she looked at her sons eyes, "your daddy has big bright eyes like yours. When I found out you were a boy, I just knew that you were going to have his eyes." Rachel said as she gently kissed his little nose.

"you see that sweetie, he's your baby brother." Rachel's mother said to Celty whom was sitting in her grandfather's lap. "And I know you are going to be the best big sister ever aren't you?" Celty nodded to her grandmother's question and then looked over to her mother and new born baby brother.

Rachel chuckled softly as she listened to the conversation between her mother and Celty. "Well come on kiddo," Rachel said as she patted the open space next to her on the bed. "You can't be the best big sister in the world if you don't come say hi to your brother." Rachel chuckled softly as she heard her son cooing in her arms and trying to reach up to her face with his little arms and his little hands.

Zaniel, Celty's grandfather placed her on the bed where she quickly took the spot next to her mother and watched as he little brother looked around his new environment. "Hi little brother." Celty said softly as she reached a hand out to him. The infant boy wrapped his little hand around one of Celty's fingers. Celty giggled as she let her little brother hold her finger. "Mommy?" Celty asked her mother as she looked up to her, still letting her brother hold her finger. "What's his name going to be?"

Rachel looked from Celty to her son as she gave both of them a great big smile, "well your daddy got to choose the boy's name this time, and before he left he told me the name." Rachel gave Celty a kiss on the top of her head and then another gentle kiss on her son's making him smile some and causing Rachel to giggle. "His name is going to be Christopher, Christopher Michael Magari."

well, well, looky here is....is that Rachel and her new born son I see? Come on guys do you really think I was going to leave it off right as Rachel was going into labor, I'm not that much of a jerk. anyways that exerp was just a bit of a joke, cruel as it may have been, hm I guess that does make me a jerk.

well anyways, I hope you enjoyed this, because this really is the last time you will see Rachel and everyone until the end chapter.
