(Kaiba Dome - 7 pm)

The stadium was crowded with people. Most of Duel Monster fans in the world had gathered here, at the legendary Kaiba Dome, to witness the World Championship's final battle. Two great competitors, two great duelists, and two best friends, but there was only one who could claim himself as the world champion. Let's wait and see who that person would be.

(The waiting room - 7:15 pm)

There was no one in the large room but only two young man. One of them was leaning againts the wall with both arms behind his head and closed eyes, while the other was sitting on a sofa, looking at his cards.

"So, you ready to do this, Satoshi?", asked the one who was leaning againts the wall.

"More than I've ever been, Ryu.", replied the other, "Still, I just can't believe my greatest rival is my best friend. But I don't regret this, because I know you're a great duelist, and I've been waiting to duel you since the day you taught me how to play this game.", Satoshi grinned.

"It is so. Then, don't hold back when we fight.", Ryu smiled.

"Don't worry, I won't."

A knocking sound drew their attentions, "Are you two ready. Checking your duel disks one last time and head down to the stage door!", the referee asked.

After placing their decks to the duel disks, Ryu and Satoshi looked at each other, both smiling.

"Let's do this!", they shouted, clashing their fists in a friendly way.

(Kaiba Dome, main stage - 7:30 pm)

The crowd was getting impatient as they kept cheering and yelling both Ryu and Satoshi's names.

"And now...the moment you are waiting for! The World Championship's finale!", the announcer shouted, "Get your hands up for our 1st finalist, Takahashi Satoshi!"

Satoshi walked out to a round of applause, waving to his fans.

"And his opponent, the 2-times World Champion. Please welcome...Ryu Ikenami!"

The stage exploded with a thunderous applause as Ryu took the spotlight, smiling confidently.

"Now, before we begin, you two will shuffle each other's deck.", the ref said.

"Right!", they replied at the same time.

...

"Are you ready? It's time to duel!", the announcer yelled, and was replied by a loud cheering sound from the audience.

"I'll go 1st. DRAW!", Ryu declared and drew a card from his deck. He added it to his hand and looked at his cards for a while.

"Alright, to start it up, I'll play this monster face-down", Ryu placed the card in the monster card slot. The hologram of the face-down card appeared before him, "I set 2 cards, and end my turn!"

"Then my turn! Draw!", Satoshi shouted, "Alright, I summon [Elemental HERO Stratos] in Attack Position!"

Elemental HERO Stratos - WIND /Lv 4/Warrior/Atk 1800/Def 300: When this card is Summoned, you can select and activate 1 of these effects: ? Destroy Spell or Trap Cards on the field up to the number of "HERO" monsters you control (except this card). ? Add 1 "HERO" monster from your Deck to your hand.

"I use Stratos' effect to add [Destiny HERO - Malicious] to my hand."

Destiny HERO - Malicious - DARK /Lv 6/Warrior/Atk 800/Def 800: You can remove from play this card from your Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Destiny HERO - Malicious" from your Deck.

"I then activate the Spell [Destiny Draw], discard Malicious and draw 2 cards!"

Satoshi drew the cards from his deck. He looked at them and nodded slightly, "I activate Malicious' effect from the Graveyard: By removing it from play, I can play another Malicious from my deck", he searched his deck and summoned another Malicious, "Then I play the Spell [Emergency Teleport] and special summon the Tuner monster, [Krebons] from my deck!"

Krebons - DARK/Level 2/Psychic/Atk 1200/Def 400: When this card is selected as an attack target, you can pay 800 Life Points to negate the attack.

A small portal appeared on Satoshi's side of the field, and from that portal, the hologram of [Krebons] jumped out, giving a creepy laugh.

"Now because I have a Lv 2 Tuner and 1 Lv 6 non-Tuner, I can synchro summon my Lv 8 monster, [Red Demon's Dragon]

Red Demon's Dragon - DARK/Lv 8/Dragon/Atk 3000/Def 2000: If _ __ this card attacks a Defense Position monster your opponent controls , destroy all Defense Position monsters your opponent controls after damage calculation. During the End Phase , destroy all other monsters you control that did not declare an attack this turn._

[Krebos] body became 2 Synchro Rings and covered [Destiny HERO - Malicios]. A pillar of light appreared and shone brightly. After that, [Red Demon's Dragon] showed up in front of them, and let loose a mighty roar.

"There it is, Satoshi's greatest monster: Red Demon's Dragon!", the announcer shouted.

"Here I go, Ryu! Red Demon, attack the face-down monster!". A powerful flame covered Red Demon's claws, and the mighty dragon swung its claws at the face-down card, making the card shattered and revealed the monster, it was...[Dandylion].

Dandylion - EARTH /Level 3/Plant/Atk 300/Def 300: When this card is sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 2 "Fluff Tokens" (Plant-Type/WIND/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position. These Tokens cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon during the turn they are Special Summoned.

"You triggered [Dandylion] effect, so I get 2 [Fluff Tokens]", Ryu exclaimed. The remainings of the shattered plant monster gathered together, forming 2 fluffy monsters on Ryu's side.

"No problem, since Red Demon destroy your defensive monster, all of your defensive monsters are goners!"

"Not exactly. I reveal 1 of my set cards, the Trap [Starlight Road]. Since Red Demon's effect would destroy 2 cards on the field, this Trap card will negate it, and destroy your dragon. Go!". The card hologram popped up, and a beam of light shot out from it, covering Red Demon and slowly made the dragon vanished.

"Afterward, I get a bonus. I special summon [Stardust Dragon]. Come on out, pal!". Ryu slapped the card to the slot, and Stardust emerged, shining brightly.

"So this is your Stardust huh. I'll deal with it later. Stratos, attack 1 of these Tokens!". The wheels on Stratos' wings started spinning with a great speed, creating 2 tornadoes and aimed at 1 [Fluff Token]. The Token was blown into pieces.

"I set 2 card face-down and end my turn!"

"My turn! I draw!", Ryu said, "I summon the Tuner monster, [The White Stone of Legend] in attack mode."

The White stone of Legend - LIGHT/Lv 1/Dragon/Atk 300/Def 250: When this card is sent to the Graveyard, add 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your Deck to your hand.

"I tune Lv 1 White Stone with Lv 1 Fluff Token to synchro summon the Lv 2 Tuner Synchro monster: [Formula Synchron]!"

Formula Synchron - LIGHT/Lv 2/Machine/Atk 200/Def 1500: When this card is Synchro Summoned, Draw 1 card. During your opponent's Main Phase, you can Synchro Summon using this face-up card you control as a Synchro Material Monster.

The Synchro ring and the flash appeared again, from which [Formula Synchron] showed up, "With Formula's effect, I draw 1 card.", he drew the card, but not even bother to look at it

"Now the real fun begin. Because I have Lv 8 Synchro Monster [Stardust Dragon] and Lv 2 Tuner Synchro [Formula Synchron], I now synchro summon the Lv 10 Accel Synchro: [Shooting Star Dragon]!!!". (I'll pass the 'ring' and 'flash' part, in case you get bored ^.^)

Shooting Star Dragon - WIND/Lv 10/Dragon/Atk 3300/Def 2500: Each of the following effects can be activated once per turn: · Reveal the top 5 cards of your Deck. Shuffle them back in, and this card's maximum number of attacks this turn is equal to the number of Tuner monsters revealed. · Negate the activation of an effect that would destroy a card(s) on the field, and destroy that card. · When your opponent's monster declares an attack you can select it, then remove this card from play and negate the attack. During the End Phase, Special Summon this card that was removed from play by this effect.

From the sky, the majestic dragon descent, shining brightly over the entire dome. The audience were speechless as they were astounished by the dragon's beauty.

"At this moment, I activate my face-down: [Compulsory Evacuation Device]. So that means your Shooting Star gets sent to your Extra Deck!", Satoshi shouted.

"He's not going anywhere, cuz I chained [7 Tools of the Bandit], so your Trap is negated" (Ryu's Lp: 8000 -> 7000).

"Damn it!", Satoshi cursed angrily.

"I'm not done yet! I play [Ancient Rules] to special summon a Lv 8 normal monster. Come forth! [Blue-Eyes White Dragon]!", which that, the legendary dragon appeared.

"Now go, Shooting Star! Attack Stratos!", Ryu shouted. Shooting Star unleashed a powerful aura that just looked like it, and the aura blasted Stratos into dust. (Satoshi's Lp: 8000 -> 6500).

"Blue-Eyes, direct attack!". A sphere of light formed in Blue-Eyes' mouth and from that sphere, it shot a beam of light energy which hit Satoshi (Satoshi's Lp: 6500 -> 3500).

"That the champion for you! He turned the table around in only 1 turn!", the audience cheered.

"That's a great move. Too bad you couldn't finish me off. And I make sure that you'll pay for this mistake, draw!". Satoshi looked at the card he just drew, and his lips curved into a smirk.

"Here I go. Since I have exactly 3 DARK monsters in my graveyard, and can special summon [Dark Armed Dragon]!", a mass of darkness emerged under Satoshi's feets, and from the darkness, [Dark Armed Dragon] rose.

Dark Armed Dragon - DARK/Lv 7/Dragon/Atk 2800/Def 1000: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by having exactly 3 DARK monsters in your Graveyard. You can remove from play 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard to destroy 1 card on the field.

"The famous D.A.D. Great!", Ryu muttered. (D.A.D shorts for D ark A rmed D ragon)

"Now I activate D.A.D.'s effect. I remove Malicious to destroy your Shooting Star!"

"What are you thinking? I activate Shooting Star's effect, so it would negate D.A.D.'s effect and destroy it!", Ryu said in amusement.

"Not so fast. I activate my Trap card, [Divine Wrath]. Now by discarding [Dark Resonator], your dragon's effect is negated, and you can say good bye to it!", Satoshi replied, grinning.

From the sky, a lightning bolt hit [Shooting Star Dragon] and destroyed it.

"Now I use D.A.D.'s effect again on your Blue-Eyes. I remove Red Demon from play."

Ryu couldn't do anything but stood there and watched his Blue-Eyes being blown away. Now his field was completely open for a direct attack.

"Go D.A.D.! Direct attack!". Ryu was hit by a dark energy beam, and his Lp dropped by 2800 (7000 -> 4200).

"I end my turn."

"Draw!", Ryu exclaimed. He drew [Polimerization]. Taking a deep breath, he slowly began, "I activate [Monster Reincarnation], and discard White Stone to add Blue-Eyes from my graveyard to me hand. At the same time, I get another Blue-Eyes with White Stone's effect."

"Now I activate [Summoner's Art], and use it effect to add the 3rd Blue-Eyes to my hand."

"Three Blue-Eyes...that can only mean...", Satoshi stammered, his eyes were full of fear.

"That's right! The final and greatest weapon of my arsenal. I activate [Polimerization], fusing 3 Blue-Eyes in my hand to form my ace monster: The [Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon]".

Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon - LIGHT/Lv 12/Dragon/Atk 4500/Def 3800

The holograms of 3 Blue-Eyes appeared, and they merged together, forming a giant dragon with 3 head - [Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon]. It let loose a thunderous roar as it hit the field.

"Attack D.A.D.!"

Three spheres of light formed from each head's mouth, and soon they were joined together, creating an enormous source of light. As the 3 headed dragon lauched its attack, D.A.D. literally disappeared in the powerful light, not leaving even a trace. (Satoshi's Lp: 3500 -> 1800)

"I end my turn!"

Satoshi felt a little dizzy because of the light, but soon pulled himself together. The fear had vanished from his eyes, and there was only determination now. He knew this was his final challenge, and it was the time to show all the people there, including his opponent, that he can suprass him.

"I draw!", Satoshi shouted. He looked at the card and smiled, "I activate [Card Destruction], so I discard my entire hand, and draw 3 new cards.", he sent 3 cards from his hand to the Graveyard and pulled out 3 new ones from his Deck.

"I activate the Spell card [D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation], and discard [Krebons] to special summon back my removed from play [Red Demon's Dragon]. Next, I summon the Tuner monster, [Deep Sea Diva]."

Deep Sea Diva - WATER/Lv 2/Sea Serpent/Atk 200/Def 400: When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monster from your Deck.

"...with her effect, I special summon another [Deep Sea Diva] from my deck! Now, because I have 2 Tuner monsters and Red Demon, I double tune them into the mighty [Scar-Red Nova Dragon]!!!!!!!!!"

The 2 [Deep Sea Divas] became the Synchro rings again, but this time, they were rings of fire. The rings covered the body of Red Demon and formed a sphere of fire. The sphere exploded, and from it, [Scar-Red Nova dragon] appeared, baring its powerful claws.

Scar-Red Nova Dragon - DARK/Lv 12/Dragon/Atk 3500/Def 3000: This card gains 500 ATK for each Tuner monster in your Graveyard. This card cannot be destroyed by the effects of your opponent's Spells, Traps and Effect Monsters. When an opponent's monster declares an attack, you can select it and remove from play this card to negate the attack. During the End Phase, Special Summon this card removed from play by this effect.

"What is this monster...I have never seen it before.", Ryu said in disbelief.

"Of course you haven't. This is my real trump card, and I've been saving it for today. Ryu, I will defeat you. I activate the effect of Scar-Red Nova, so it gains 500 Atk for each Tuner monster in my graveyard. Since I have 6, Scar-Red Nova's Atk is now 6500."

(I will explain this part in case you don't understand. Satoshi had 2 [Krebons], 2 [Deep Sea Diva] and 1 [Dark Resonator], that makes it 5 Tuner monsters. When he activate [Card Destruction], he discarded 1 [Unknown Synchron], that makes it 6, so Scar-Red Nova gains 500*6 = 3000 ATK)

"Scar-Red Nova, attack! Destroy his Ultimate Dragon!!!". After that, Scar Red Nova folded its wings and shot itself at [Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon], while having its entire body enceased in flame. With a loud clashing sound, Ultimate Dragon exploded into pieces. (Ryu's Lp: 4200 -> 2200)

"My Ultimate Dragon, no!", Ryu screamed out.

"Heh, I end my turn. Now just to make it easy for both of us, I suggest you should surrender. You know there is no cards in your deck that can defeat my invincible Scar-Red Nova, plus you don't have any card in your hand. Give up!"

The audiance were waiting in silent for the champion to make his decision. Would he gave up?

No...he didn't

"I draw!", Ryu said calmly.

"Why didn't you give up? Do you really want to be defeated by my Scar-Red Nova that badly?", Satoshi shouted angrily.

"I can't give up Satoshi, because I'm...a duelist!", Ryu replied with a sotf smile.

"I activate [Pot of Avarice], so I take 3 Blue-Eyes and 2 White Stone from my graveyard and shuffle them into my deck, then I can draw 2 cards!", Ryu shuffled his Deck and drew.

"I activate [Monster Reborn] to bring back 1 monster in my graveyard, and I choose...my [Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon], in attack position!". The holograme of [Monster Reborn] popped up, and a pillar of light appeared, from which Ultimate Dragon came out.

"I set my last card, and end my turn!"

"Fine, have it your way. I draw! The duel is already over, Ryu. My dragon has 2000 more attack than yours. Go, Scar-Red Nova! Destroy his dragon again!"

Just when Scar-Red Nova was about to destroy Ultimate Dragon, Ryu shouted, "Wait! I activate my set card, [Jar of Greed], so I get to draw 1 card!"

"Hahah, didn't I tell you. There is no card that can save you now.", Satoshi laughed evilly.

"No, you're wrong. There is one card in my deck that can save me, but...I don't know if I will be able to draw it or not. Come on deck, answer me!", he drew.

Everything looked like it was going in slow motion with Ryu. He peeked at the card, and a broad smile appeared in his face.

"No, what did he draw?"

"You'll find out right now! From my hand, I send [Honest] to the graveyard to activate its effect!"

Honest - LIGHT/Lv 4/Fairy/Atk 1100/Def 1900: During your Main Phase, you can return this card from the field to its owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to have that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.

The hologram of [Honest] showed up, and became an aura of light that covered Ultimate Dragon's body, making the dragon grow to an enormous size, and its ATK was...11000 (= 4500 + 6500).

"An Atk of...11000, impossible!", Satoshi trembled in fear, his whole body was frozen from the pressure Ultimate Dragon was giving him.

"Go, Ultimate Dragon! End this duel!". With the mighties beam of light, Scar-Red Nova was shattered into dust, and the impact was so powerful that it sent Satoshi falling on his back. (Satoshi's Lp: 0)

...

"We...we have the winner. The World Champion, no, 3-times World Champion: Ryu Ikenami!!!!!!!!!!!", the announcer shouted. The audience burst of cheering.

Satoshi was still on his knees. He just couldn't believe it. How could he lose? Everything was perfect, and he even managed to summon his secret weapon, [Scar-Red Nova Dragon]. But in the end, he still lost.

His thought was cut off as he saw Ryu offered a hand.

"That was the best duel of my life. Thank you, Satoshi!", Ryu smiled.

Satoshi was silent for a while, before taking his friend's hand and stand up, "Next time, I will defenitely defeat you, Ryu!", he smiled.
