#6 of Rebirth Pt2

You can all relax now, the next installment of the Rebirth series has come to pass. I know that I'm leaving you all off on a bit of a bad cliffhanger, but know that each of the dreams/chapters that I do are supposed to be read one after the other, almost like they were only parts of one chapter, but due to their length and effecting different characters I decided to have them as chapters instead.

For those of you who are the grammar focused people, sorry but I'm running out of time to edit this chapter and had to post it a bit more hastily than the others (Reason=journal)

REBIRTH

CRESSELIA'S NIGHTMARE

Pt. 2 Ch. 6

Ever so slowly Trisha's eyes began to flutter and after a few more moments, they finally opened all the way. "Welcome back. How do you feel?" I asked her as I knelt down next to Trisha and gently caressed her head.

'Is this...'

"Real? Yes." I interrupted her and smiled down to her. Trisha looked about for a while and after seeming to confirm my words were true she slowly rolled herself so that she was lying on her stomach and looked up at me for a moment, but I didn't meet her eyes. Following my gaze she stared at the two other unconscious forms near her.

'I take it that the same thing that happened to me happened to them.' To which I nodded. 'What about you; were you under the same effect as us?'

Turning back to look at her I sighed but nodded. "I was. Though, unlike you, I dreamed of something that I knew wasn't real much less even possible and was easily able to break free of the effect/spell/or attack that hit us." I wanted to elaborate further, after seeing Trisha had moved a little forward and had an inquiring gaze in her eyes, but I just sighed once more and stood. "I would like to apologize for intruding on your dream Trisha." I said as I turned to face her and lowered my head in shame. "It's a violation to have one's mind intruded upon or probed into, and for that I ask your forgiveness."

Trisha sat up so that she was sitting upon her haunches and raised up a paw to place said paw on my leg. 'I am sure that you only did it with the purest intentions Genii, but I thank you for the apology and you have my forgiveness.' I raised up my head and smiled down to her as she returned the smile back up to me. After a moment or two of awkwardness she replaced her paw on the ground and turned to look at the others. 'I guess you should wake up the others. Have you given any thought as to whom you're going to awaken next?'

I looked over at the two other forms and slightly shook my head. "As far as this moment...no." I waked over and gently placed a hand on both Lady Suicune and Lady Cresselia's head and sighed. "For reasons I can't really explain, I feel it an even more of a violation to intrude upon either whilst they dream."

'Yeah, right. I bet you are nervous about what you might find if you were to go tramping around in eithers dreams.' I looked over and saw that Trisha had moved over and had a bit of a mischievous look upon her face. 'You know how both of them feel about you and you also know that they are most likely dreaming about you.' She walked over and lightly nudged Lady Cresselia with her paw. 'Though I do not need to be psychic to tell as to what she is dreaming about, especially with all that moaning she is doing.' Trish giggled a bit at that and as she did so I turned and then noticed that she was right. Lady Cresselia was indeed moaning and by the very pleased look upon her face it caused a deep green blush to spread across my whitish face.

I coughed a bit at that, hoping to cover up how uncomfortable I was feeling at the moment. "Be as it may, I still need to wake them up. I just...don't know to go about it." I guess Trisha was finding all this incredibly funny, as just as I finished saying that I heard her snicker a bit, only to fall onto her back a moment later in a full blown/howling laughter.

It was eventually decided that I should enter that of Lady Cresselia's dream like state and awaken her. I wasn't really sure if it was Trisha who convinced me or not, but once I'd knelt down in front of her and was about to jump into her dream, I paused and looked over at Lady Suicune. 'I guess the old saying comes into play here; 'It's best to save the best for last.' With that I turned back to Lady Cresselia and pushed my mind into hers.

(Lady Cresselia's dream)

Upon opening my eyes, I found myself standing just outside that of a large white building. Not really understanding what was going on or what kind of dream this was I decided to have a quick look around and see what kind of dream Lady Cresselia was having. Using my psychic abilities I teleported myself high into the sky and took a look downwards, and gawked at what I saw. Unlike what I'd thought, the white building actually turned out to be some kind of mansion, complete with a long walkway that led up to the place with large ornate/fall seasoned trees that were slowly dropping their leaves onto the path, gardens in full spring bloom that covered three quarters of the property, and finally a large hedge like maze just in the back of the home. All in all it looked just like the type of place one would find in some kind of romance novel home that belonged to some high aristocrat/wealthy man's estate/home.

'Not exactly unexpected, but I wonder where Lady Cresselia is in all of this?' Ever so slowly I drifted down and began to hover over each of the areas in turn. 'She's not walking down the fall/tree lined path with anyone....not picking flowers in the spring like gardens...and not running about the hedge maze or sitting prettily upon the lip of the fountain in the middle.' That left on the inside of the mansion and with another quick teleport I found myself once again at the place I'd first opened my eyes to see the white building.

Slowly turning about I found that I was actually standing just outside the building and in perfect view of a window that showed some kind of strange interior. Upon closer inspection of the place I found that the place I was looking in on was that of an enormous ball room. The place looked like it took up at least a quarter of the mansion and seemed to have been made to be the main attraction of it. The floors were made of some unknown wood that seemed to have been polished to a high sheen, large pillars lined the place with ornate candleholders three quarters of the way up them, and what appeared to be some kind of white chandelier hung from the ceiling with white pearls strung between each branch of the thing. All in all it was a ball room straight out of a women's dream, just as expected from the legendary Pokémon of dreams.

'Either dream big or go home, seems to be her motto.' I thought with a bit of a laugh as I stopped admiring the décor and focused on what else occupied the room. Along one corner of the room sat a group of several different instruments playing, but the strange thing that made my eyes widen was, instead of their being people or Pokémon playing those instruments there sat no-one. It was as if they instruments were suspended in mid-air while they played themselves. Another oddity was that the pictures upon the ceiling were that of cherubs, that seemed shy about peaking around the edges of their clouds, and darting out of the ceiling to disappear back into the ceiling and behind another cloud to which I had to guess, getting a better view of what was going on beneath them.

After staring at the whole spectacle for a while longer I decided that if I continued to stare that I'd be caught up in just the scenery and not upon the reason I was here. With a sigh I tore my eyes away from the room and focused upon finding Lady Cresselia. Lady Cresselia was dressed, yep, in a pink like outfit that clung to a humanoid figure and very much pink in color. The dress she wore looked to be the typical ball room gown, but with a few exceptions/alterations. The first thing I noticed that the outfit seemed to have several transparent/shimmering pink layers that grew more transparent with every outer layer to the lower part of the outfit, the upper portion was cut slightly low to how off a generous amount of cleavage but remained just shy of being indecent (As if cut so that it would attract the attention of someone that she wanted and to keep that attention solely upon her), a few decorative necklaces that seemed to be made up in gold and appeared to have cost several thousands of Pokédollars, and finally an ornate/shimmering pink tiara upon hear regal head. 'If I didn't know any better, I'd say that she was trying to pull off some kind of princess look.'

Once I'd taken in her image, which had a very nice appealing/alluring taste to it all, I turned my gaze to see who/m it was dancing with her. Instead of being me, as to which I thought it would be since I'd thought/knew she had a thing for me, it turned out to be an utter surprise when I saw a dark clad figure dressed handsomely in a perfectly tailored black suit. 'Darkrai.' He in a humanoid figure like that of Lady Cresselia, long white hair that reached fairly far down his back that was held back by some kind of ornate clasp, a white/button down undershirt, and a midnight colored jacket and slacks that seemed to be creased to such a degree that made them look almost dangerously sharp.

'In the name of the almighty one, what in the world is she doing dancing with a guy like him?' I wondered in shock and horror as I watched them dance to the music within the place. 'They are practically polar opposites of each other, and here I see them dancing together.' As I watched on for quite some time I thought about it some more and in a strange way I guessed that I could understand it. 'I guess for her, it's an attraction of the bad boy image that she likes.' As I looked on I began to become a bit confused as I looked at each of their emotions and saw that just like their types each of them had polar opposite emotions. Lady Cresselia seemed to be elated at dancing with the king of dark types/dreams while Darkrai seemed totally impassive/unimpressed with everything that was going on at the moment.

It was right after this that my curiosity got the better of me and I found myself teleporting into the place. Once I'd realized what I'd done, I quickly looked about and dashed behind a set of long curtains by the entrance to the ballroom. I wasn't sure why I was hiding, but for some reason I felt a bit ashamed at being here, almost as if I were trespassing into someone's inner most mind to see all their secrets bared for me to see. It wasn't long after I'd hidden behind the curtain that I began to relax and heard the music playing for the first time. The music was some kind of haunting melody that seemed sad but at the same time fitting for the setting of a ballroom. The music never really seemed to stop and as I began to wonder if it ever would I began to feel the music take some kind of toll upon me, almost as if the sad melody was making me sad at the same time.

Wondering how this was affecting both the dancers within, I slowly peaked around the curtain to see. I was surprised to see that neither of which seemed to be listening to the music, as Lady Cresselia seemed lost in her own private/happy world dancing with someone that she cared deeply for, and Darkrai still had on his impassive facial expression. Being a bit confused by this I began to edge a little more out from behind the curtain, only to quickly hide once more as the music finally came to a crescendo and eventually stopped. Peeking out from behind the curtain once more I saw that Lady Cresselia had on some kind of dreamy expression as she slowly looked up at Darkrai and smiled happily up at him. "If only this dream could never end." She said in a dreamy voice as she slowly raised herself up on the tips of her pink high heeled shoes and slowly began to inch her way forward to kiss Darkrai.

Though before her pink shaded lips could actually meet that of Darkrai's, he pulled back and looked down at her. "Do you love me Cresselia?" He asked, and I shivered at how cold his voice sounded to my ears.

"What kind of question is that? Of course I love you Darkrai, nothing could ever change that."

"Then...If you love me...then will you do one thing for me."

"Anything for you love." A creepy/dark smile spread across Darkrai's face and a shiver ran up and down my spine at seeing it.

'I don't like that look.' I thought and a scowl quickly began to form across my face as I awaited his knowing answer.

"Then if you truly love me, give yourself to me." This got Lady Cresselia's to look up at him in confusion. Just then his smile spread impossibly wide (Essentially from one side of his face to the other) and an evil twinkle could be seen in his eye.

"What, I don't understand? What do you mean give myself to you? I already love you, what more can I give?" Lady Cresselia was obviously confused by this and I wondered myself how far this was going to go.

"What I want is your body. I don't care about your love; all I want is your body. Now give your beloved a nice big kiss." This time Darkrai's smile opened slightly and rows upon rows of needle sharp teeth could be seen filling the overly large mouth.

It was at that moment that something must have snapped/realized, as Lady Cresselia tried to pull away from Darkrai, but at that same moment did he grab both her upper arms in a his claw like hands and hold her fast. Not wanting to see her hurt I quickly poured energy into my blades and got ready to release a Psycho Cut, but stop when I realized that a psychic type move would have no effect against a dark type and changed to a more effective move, my Fury Cutter attack. It seemed almost fitting that I used this attack, feeling furious myself, and didn't notice the color change from the purple of my psychic powers to that of the gentle forest green of a bug type attack.

As I was about to step out and quickly deliver my attack, I was suddenly stopped in my tracks when one of the doors swung wide and slammed into my face, effectively slamming me into the wall itself. The force of the blow was so strong that I blanked out for a bit and somewhere I could have sworn I was seeing some kind of bird type flying circles around my head.

"Hold fast nave, you shall not harm a single hair upon her royal highnesses head!" Someone shouted aloud, which in effect helped me to shake off the effects of getting the door slammed into my face and sandwiched between the door and the wall behind me.

Fortune must have been smiling down on me at that moment, or maybe I just didn't realize it before, as I wanted to see who this new person/arrival was I noticed a hole in the fabric. The image I saw before me of the new arrival was one that caused one of my eyes to quirk up in confused/disbelief. The new arrival looked very much like that of a human dressed in some kind of noble/Victorian garb, but the garb bore striking resemblances to that of a Gallade. Hi green hair that had a light streak of bluish/green was cut just above that his shoulders; a light green cape adorned his left shoulder that came down just above his elbow while on his right was a silver plate that looked to be able to protect the shoulder-joint, a white button down long sleeved shirt that had several ornate green stitching here and there at the seams, a forest green belt held up a light green pair of trousers, and finally light greenish blue gloves that matched a pair of gloves that completed the look. Needless to say I was surprised to see someone who'd looked as if they'd stepped out of the medial/Victorian time line here, but in a strange way it all seemed to fit, in its own strange/romantic setting kind of way.

"Know your place you insolent cur! These matters concern you not!" Darkrai said as he slowly turned and scowled over at the arrival with that of one of his cold/dead eyes.

The effect didn't seem to faze the new arrival and for some reason I was glad for that. 'He's going to have one heck of a time fighting against Darkrai. Heck, if I were to fight him, I'd probably get creamed since I've got such a type disadvantage.' As I thought about that for a moment I realized that Darkrai didn't have any sword to combat against the new arrival. 'This is going to be a really quick battle if Darkrai plans on fighting against this new guy.'

"I won't tell you again, peasant. Leave now or face my wrath." And with those words, Darkrai reached behind himself and pulled out a long/blackened blade from which looked quite menacing. It was made even more frightening as I saw that unlike most long swords, his had the heart/center of the blade removed. To which if the blade were to pierce the body of someone it would not only allow the blade to easily be removed from the suction that occur from a regular/whole blade. The other advantage was not only a lighter weight but if left within the body it would allow the blood to easily drain from the pierced flesh.

A shiver ran down my spine as I thought about dueling with a person who could actually fight with such a weapon, but at that thought I wondered how the arrival was taking in the sight of the menacing black long sword. Turning to look through my whole ridden tapestry, I saw with surprise, that the arrival wasn't effected at all by the sudden appearance of Darkrai's blade. 'I wonder if it's due to him knowing his skills are far superior to that of Darkrai's or maybe he has an even better weapon/sword than him.' Just then the arrival reached on over to his hidden side and revealed that instead of having a very impressive weapon like that of Darkrai's blade, he had a simple Rapier. 'It has to be his skill then. While not being the most strongest of fighting weapons, Rapiers are known for being used for speed and dexterity. This guy's probably betting on being faster and more accurate than Darkrai's strength. The arrival has speed and dexterity on his side, but all Darkrai's got to do is get in one lucky strike and it's all over.'

I smirked at it all and thought about the duel soon to come, but stopped in my reverie and caught my eyes glancing over to Lady Cresselia to see how she was taking all of this. In her eyes I could see a swirl of emotions and just as many through her facial expressions. Through all those I could easily make out fear, elation, pain, and surprise, but to who each of those emotions were based or came from I couldn't tell. 'I hope she's happy to see the arrival, but I'd best watch for my moment to strike if the duel goes south and the arrival can't take on Darkrai.' With that I poured the energy into my blades for a Fury Cutter attack and awaited the telling signs of this new guy losing the fight. And the fight did turn south.

The new arrival put up one heck of a fight, being much faster and better at hitting vital points, but Darkrai eventually did get in that one lucky hit and that hit proved to be too much for him. "GENII!" Lady Cresselia cried out but when she'd leapt to her feet to run to him, she was stopped by Darkrai grabbing her arm and throwing her to the ground.

"Sit Down!" Holding onto his arm where the new arrival or apparently Genii had stabbed him; Darkrai walked over to the fallen body and gave it a final boot to the head. "You should have heeded my warning fool." He then spat into the face of the fallen/would-be hero and the turned back to smile evilly at Lady Cresselia. "Now where were we...?"

"About where you're about to get your backside handed to you by the real Genii." I said as I quickly flung aside the curtain and charged the king of nightmares with both my elbow blades fully extended, glowing a faint greenish color, and pulled back to deliver a critical hit to him. For the next few seconds the two of us exchanged blows, but due to Darkrai's condition, he didn't put up much of a fight and was defeated in short order.

Standing over Darkrai I finally let out the breath that I'd been holding and stared down at his defeated form. Even though Darkrai had been stronger than me, a longer sword that proved slightly difficult to deliver my attacks to his actual form, and a dark type; but I'd finally chiseled away at him until I'd been able to delivery my blows directly to him. After getting through his defenses it'd been fairly easy to defeat him and as he knelt down, holding his sides to try and staunch the flow of his black blood, he looked up at me and scowled. "Just, who are thou?"

"I am myself, but you may call me, Genii. The one and true Genii." I raised my right elbow blade and made to deliver the final blow, but just before I did so, Lady Cresselia quickly moved forward to spread out her arms and stand between both him and myself.

"Please Genii; do not kill him, I..." The rest of her words were lost to my ears, but by the way her eyes were tearing up I could tell that beyond the hate that she had for him and his twisted/black heart, she cared deeply for him.

Taking a deep breath as I prepared to try and talk some sense into her, but instead I froze up and felt my eyes go wide as I caught something out of the corner of my eye. 'Wait a minute, did that shadow just move on its own?' I thought to myself as I saw the shadow of my defeated foe slowly shift/settle behind him and quickly resettle itself. I really didn't understand if what I'd just seen was just some kind of illusion due to my fatigue of fighting the legendary Pokémon of nightmares, but as I focused on the shadow and the hairs on the back of my neck tingled as the shadow moved once more and changed into what appeared to be some kind of smoke that writhed and moved on its own accord. Several thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to make sense of what I'd just seen, but when a pair of dark blue eyes opened in the smoky darkness, I knew that things were about to get a whole lot worse.

With that realization I fought with myself whether to quickly pull Lady Cresselia away from the imposter Darkrai, lunge past her to deliver the final blow to the fake, or just get the heck out of there, but as my eyes slowly settled on the imposter Darkrai I could see his form shifting and the smoke that made up his shadow quickly congeal about his body and sink within his body. Not knowing what this could mean I look on in stunned/disbelief as the fake's whole form began to pulsate. Once the pulsations had finally settled with whatever they were doing I noticed that the imposter Darkrai was gone and in his place was that of a kneeling/true Darkrai.

"I thought that someone was dreaming of me." He said as he slowly raised his head and stared dead eyed at me with a smirk upon his face that would send shivers/fear down/through anybody's body.

The desire to flinch just at meeting those steely/dark/haunting blue eyes was nearly enough to not only finch but also run for the nearest hills screaming, but knowing that Lady Cresselia was here and that no knight in their right mind would turn and leave a lady defenseless to a would be predator, I squared off my stance and began to pour bug type energy back into my blades.

"Admirable, but overall...foolish." Darkrai said as he slowly rose to his feet and took on an arrogant stance, as if I didn't pose any threat to him at all. "Do you truly believe that one such as yourself could truly fight one such as I?" I didn't answer him as I tried my best to keep my arms from shaking and showing to him that I was truly frightened of the night walker.

"Be as it may...Darkrai, I will still fight and protect Lady Cresselia." I said but in my mind, it sounded like I was truly fearless but what came out was a broken/weak sounding Rattata like voice. Darkrai threw back his head and let out a barking like laugh that quickly fell into a full bodied/shaking laughter a moment later. It was at that that I lost what little restraint that I had left on my sanity and quickly leapt forward to begin my attack.

"GENII...STOP!" At those words I quickly stopped dead in my tracks to find that my right blade mere inches from connecting with that of Darkrai's chest, but as I looked down at where my blade was I saw that Darkrai hadn't been idle and had his right clawed hand mere inches away from my neck. Ever so slowly, as not to give the night walker an opening, I slowly turned my head to the side and saw Lady Cresselia slowly approaching us. Once she'd reached the two of us she placed a hand on either one of our attacking shoulders and lowered our arms to our sides. "Please stop Genii. I don't want to hurt him."

Once my arm lay at my side I slowly turned and watched as she stepped between us and faced Darkrai. The two stared deeply into each other's eyes and then she did something that I never thought she'd do, she reached up and with a gentle hand brought Darkrai's face to hers and kissed him deeply. "I knew that if I dreamed of you, that you would come," she said sweetly once she'd pulled away from the kiss.

Doing a few double takes between the two my gaze finally settled on Lady Cresselia and I raised an eyebrow at her. "What is going on here Lady Cresselia? I thought that..."

Darkrai put an arm around her slender frame and turned her so that she was facing him. "It is always like this. The two of us can never truly be together except in that of dreams." I looked at him in confusion but after a moment it all makes a strange kind of sense. Darkrai was that of the Dark while Lady Cresselia was of that of light. Two sides of the same coin always joined but never truly to be together. "But if you must look at it in a simple light, in dreams, we are free to share the love that we have for one another and it is in these dreams that we are free to do so."

'I guess it's true what they say, 'Love knows no bounds.'
