Looks like the devil made a pit-stop on his way down to Georgia and he met Baxley.

Baxley sat on the roof of his house, looking up at the moon. He sighed and pulled his cloak around himself as some cold wind blew past. The black enjoyed these moments when he was alone to think. Baxley often would be throwing daggers at targets to think, but tonight he wanted to just sit on the roof. He sipped on a glass of red wine and played with his necklace that had a cross hanging from it.

"Baxley", whispered a voice. The fox looked around for a moment. "Who's there", asked Baxley, grabbing his dagger from his harness. "I'm in your house, fox, come and find out", whispered the same voice. Baxley quickly got to his feet-paws and climbed down from his roof, landing on his porch. The front door was still closed and no windows were open. The black fox gripped his dagger tightly in reverse grip technique and walked into his home, opening the door slowly.

Baxley sniffed the air, but caught no scent other than himself and his dinner which was in the fridge. He walked into his living room and looked around. Nothing. "Where the hell are you", Baxley whispered to himself. "In the hallway, foxy", hissed a voice. Baxley spun around, dagger raised and strode into the hallway. The fox stopped in the hall and stood there in shock.

A red dragon with a black underbelly wearing a white t-shirt, a black short-sleeved, black dress shirt and black jeans was standing by the front door smiling at Baxley. "Hello there, fox, life been treatin' you right." Baxley just stared at the dragon. "How the heck did you get in my house and who are you", asked the black fox. The dragon crossed his arms and smirked, snorting smoke out of his nostrils.

"I'm the devil and I hear you are a pretty good assassin and thief, Baxley", said the dragon. "Now how about we get to business, I'm on a very tight schedule and you will need your sleep." Baxley nodded and slowly lowered his dagger. "Okay, we can get to business, but what kind of business are we talking about here." The devil smiled, eyes glowing white and pulled out a contract with a picture of a cheetah on it. "This type of business is what I'm talking about. I need you to hunt and capture this man and bring him to the cemetery where I will be waiting." Baxley nodded. "Okay, what's the deal that you offer", he asked.

The devil smiled. "You are as they said you would be. The deal is that if you bring this man to me you will have access to guards and weaponry and you will be granted the ability to speak to the afterlife, from heaven or hell and more", he said sticking his paw out for a shake. Baxley hesitantly shook the devils paw and was caught off guard as he was pinned against the wall and a black collar was strapped onto his neck. "What the hell are you doing", growled Baxley.

The dragon let Baxley drop to the floor. "You'll see when you wake up tomorrow. The targets coordinates are on your kitchen table", he said, disappearing in a swirl of black smoke. Baxley hugged his sides in pain and breathed fast as his heartbeat sped up. The fox's eyes started to glow red and he screamed as he felt something flow through him, and then passed out.

It was daylight by the time Baxley woke up. He struggled to his feet-paws, still in pain from what occurred last night. The memory still fresh in his mind, Baxley stumbled into the kitchen and looked on the table. The paper was still there and Baxley snatched it up and started to read over it. He nodded and ran down to his basement to get supplies.

Baxley put on a different harness, one that would hold two pistols, six throwing daggers, and a sword or a fighting dagger. He grabbed two 9mm's and adjusted them to fit his harness. Once his weapons were equipped and sorted out Baxley grabbed a dagger that had a steel handle with fabric wrapped around it and had a curved blade. The black fox fixed his purple jacket and black t-shirt. He put his phone in his pants pocket and ran up the stairs and then outside to his purple trail blazer.

Baxley started the truck and drove to town, heading for the apartment complexes. He turned on the radio and the song 'Dirty Diana' by Michael Jackson was playing. Baxley smiled as he drove through town. He came to a stop a block away from his target's place and got out of the truck to walk. Baxley felt his body tingle as he got closer to the building and wondered what was wrong. He pushed the thought aside and walked into the building, then to the stairs.

When Baxley reached the right floor and found the man's apartment he drew his pistols. The fox knocked once and got an okay from a voice inside. Baxley nodded and kicked the door in, scanning the room for the cheetah. He felt a barrel on the back of his head and a knife at his back. "I knew the devil would get his ass in gear and try something", whispered a voice behind Baxley. "Drop the guns and walk forward." Baxley did as he was told a raised his paws in the air while he walked.

He took about three or four steps before a searing pain went up his spine, causing him to fall over. His skeleton started to shift frame and change. Baxley's eyes turned red again and he growled as he convulsed and twitched on the floor. He shut his eyes tight as he yowled to the sky. The cheetah was shocked, but then saw the cause of Baxley's actions and shook his head, waiting for the fox to gather his bearings.

Baxley got up and was surprised that he was only slightly taller than the cheetah's knee. "What the fuck just happened and why are you taller than me", asked the fox in anger and confusion. "You made a deal with the devil didn't you, fox", asked the cheetah who was sitting on the couch drinking some soda. Baxley nodded. "Yeah, but I didn't think..." The cheetah laughed. "You didn't think that he was actually who he said he was and that was just a name he went under to so people couldn't track him." Baxley shrugged and nodded again.

"Well, I don't blame you for that. You're young and you probably didn't think anything of the name he gave you", said the cheetah. "I didn't and all I thought was that he put some drug in me to make me pass out", replied Baxley, now lying down beside his jeans and jacket which were in a pile along with his guns and harness. The cheetah smirked. "You want to get back at him", he said. Baxley grinned. "I'd love too, but I have a question", he growled. "Shoot, foxy", purred the cheetah. "Why is the devil after you", asked Baxley, sitting up. The cheetah sighed.

"Well to make a long story short; I'm one of the few angels to foil more than one of his schemes to invade heaven's castle. I was a spy and my job was to get information from the devil's fortress", explained the cheetah. Baxley nodded and padded over to the couch and let the cheetah pet his head as he looked out the window. The cheetah snapped back to reality and smiled down at Baxley. "Okay, let's get some revenge on our friend the devil", he said as he got up, grabbed Baxley's things and headed out of his apartment. Baxley followed him.

The trail blazer pulled over at the curb. Baxley had turned back to his old self and walked into the cemetery, pushing the angel, cheetah in front of him. The dragon and two other demons, who took the shape of cats, were standing in the center of the cemetery. "Ah, you found him; now hand him over and you shall have all I promised you", said the dragon. Baxley smiled and nodded. "I will, but I have a question for you", said Baxley, calmly. The dragon nodded. "What is it you wish to know?"

"Umm... why can I change form, sense when a demon or angel is near, my eyes turn red and go into a blind rage when pissed off, oh, and my strength, speed, powers, and senses are enhanced", Baxley listed every new thing that he had discovered. The dragon just stood there smiling. "You're welcome, now hand over the cheetah", he said. Baxley smiled, slipped a dagger to the angel cheetah and pushed him forward.

The two demons took the cheetah while Baxley stood there. The devil walked over to Baxley and took the collar off. "You now have the freedom to change your form at will and you have everything I promised you." Baxley smiled. "You might regret what you just promised me", he said drawing a pistol and shooting the two demons holding the cheetah. "Now, Brian." The cheetah named Brian dashed towards the dragon and tackled him.

"What", snarled the dragon, trying to get away. "You're not the only one who can spring a trap", growled Baxley. "I'm a pretty good improviser so this was a little different from my style, but if it gets you out of my life and others then so be it." The devil smiled. "You can't stop me so easily, fox, I will always and forever never be captured", he growled. "I think you're in no position to talk like that, because if you haven't noticed I have a dagger at your throat", said Brian. "Not for long, kitty", smiled the devil as he blew a puff of smoke in the cheetah's eyes and kicked him off. Baxley ran over, but was sent sprawling backwards from a whip of the dragon's tail.

Baxley sat up only to see the devil disappear in a ball of fire. He got up and walked over to the cheetah. "You alright, bro", he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine, Baxley, and thank you for your help", meowed Brian. "What do you mean; the devil got away", barked Baxley, confused. "Yes, but now I can give my lord some information we didn't know", purred Brian. "And what is that", asked Baxley. "He can walk freely on earth and take many forms, but is not as powerful", smiled the cheetah, handing the dagger back to the fox, and disappearing in a swirl of white smoked.

Baxley shook his head and smiled, eyes glowing red and sprinted back to his truck so he could go to an alcohol store. He needed some champagne for this eventful day.
