ENJOY THE LONG AWAITED... Nothing

Huwwo everyone! Sorry for the never appearing ever.

This was a story I wrote back a few years ago, back in my secondary school. So I apologise if it is awful, I haven't edited it.

Strange Meeting

Snow covered the cobbled road in a thick blanket of coldness, with my feet stepping on it making a brand of my shoe print in the snow. Brushing the strand of blonde hair from my face, the town square came into view. The square being revealed in a mix of light and snow, a mystical feeling blew through the wind into my clothes, flowing into my soul. The town centre was the only beacon of light in the black streets. In my head I thought of all the monsters and ghouls lurking in the shadows waiting for a weak hearted victim to fall into their claws, like sailors to sirens. I walked into the main square, immersing myself in brilliant light, my cyan coloured jacket lit up. 'Is it worth meeting up again' I thought. 'Our last meet wasn't exactly harmonious ', moving my hand over my cheek to feel the scar.

A figure immersed in the shadow of the street, began to take form in front of me. It felt like I was watching the cycle of a butterfly fast forwarded, watching it change from a caterpillar to a cocoon. I slowly stood up on demand, as if a puppeteer was controlling my actions with a mystical feeling. Pointed ears and a cat tail began to form before my eyes, flash backs of my experiences of our first meeting scratched at my mind. In a split second, he appeared in front of me, my words were stuck in my throat, my mouth left open.

"Is it normal for you to respond like this... meeting someone who saved your life?" he smiled at me, twitching his ear and his tail swaying side to side gently.

"I...uhh..." my words seemed to close up in a nervous fright. He slowly pressed himself up against me, wrapping his arms around me.

"You shouldn't be scared of a kitty like me, I am not all bad" he said, licking my cheek in an affectionate manner. I blushed helplessly, embracing him tightly.

"I... I am so happy to see you". I looked up to him with my rosy cheeks, admitting I was embarrassed. His ear twitched gently, so cute... I couldn't help, but to reach up and rub them.

"Gah...my...ears..." he winced. His wincing turned into purring, hugging himself closer to me. I couldn't help but giggle; it wasn't exactly normal behaviour to hug someone while purring at the same time, even for a human.

"Uh...Sorry" I said, while wrapping my arms back round him

"How is the scar...?" he asked, his gentle green eyes looking down to me.

"It's fine, I was mainly worried about you" he snuggled himself closer to me. He began to lick my cheek again in the same affectionate manner.

"So... what was your name?" I blurted out

"Cain... Cain the Cat Guardian" he said very gracefully.

"A Guardian, and yet your so... Cuddly..." Cuddly!! I couldn't believe that came out, second impression is going very... very badly. He giggled cuddling me a little tighter.

"Thank you" he purred into my ear, I couldn't help but to think how cute and adorable a cat-boy is... and he acted so much like a real cat. I noticed his short sleeved top blowing in the cold wind; I would imagine that he would get cold.

"Aren't you cold...?" I asked, trying to protect his arms from the attacking cold

"Nah, used to this sort of climate, besides... Anything to see your blue eyes again" he walked us to the bench brushing it clean of snow.

"So..." he started, snuggling into me, warmth radiating from him.

"What is your name?" His ears turned towards me attentively, twitching soon after. I was waiting for this question, it felt like a goal I had to achieve to feel a little more relaxed.

"Lexi... Lexi Starlight". Damn... It felt like I was in an interview.

"Cute name... Who do you live with? He asked, wagging his tail in a slow steady rhythm.

"My mum and little sister, Sonia"

"How old is your little sister?"

"She is three."

"Aww, but if I actually was a cat, she wouldn't mind me snuggling up close." He said with a giggle. I can't believe a guy can be so cute... It is so silly.

"Mind if I ask you a question Cain?" looking up at him

"Yeah?" he looked down at me, with his admiring eyes looking straight into mine.

"Do you have any family or friends?" His eyes going soft and slightly hurt.

"S...Sorry" I stuttered, that was so insensitive...

"It is fine, just... Don't usually think about them is all... Probably the only time I think about them is when someone asks me about them anyway" He closed his arm round me; I felt an emotional punch landed on my heart.

"If you don't want to-"

"No, no... It's fine" he interrupted, bringing out that bouncy kitty side.

"I have a little brother, last time I saw him he was 6 years old... That was 11 years ago... He'll be seventeen in two days." Two Days!!! Has he counted every day he has been away?

"You... You've been counting the amount of days you have been away from your family" I asked in a gasping manner. His mouth slowly made itself into a smile.

"I became a guardian to protect humans, and occasionally saving them from being hurt in any form." He must be good then, watching him fight before was like watching a movie, all his moves calculated and performed like it was choreographed like a dance sequence.

The morning began to creep over the buildings round the square, consuming the shadowy monsters in the light. His head turned towards the sun, the sun glistening in his eyes. My heart sunk deeply, I felt the tears rolling up in my eyes.

"I got to go..." he said, in a sad manner, standing up. As he began to walk away, I automatically gripped his hand.

"Don't go... there is still so much I want to know about you". Tears began to erupt from my eyes. He turned to me; licking my tears as they went down my face. I couldn't help but, to feel like my chest was being consumed by emptiness which came to be called 'hurt'

"I can give you two gifts which you can remember me by..." His eyes went gentle and innocent. He ran his hand down into his pocket and pulled out a picture of him in a black long sleeved top and black trousers, his cute ears and tail showing, the outfit looked like he was in school uniform. I grasped it gently, like I was being given a precious ornament.

"This was when I was 17, kept it with me to keep me focused whenever I was away from my hometown". He ran his hand down to mine, grasping it with a loving touch.

"And what is the other..." I stopped in mid-sentence, when I realised I had stopped talking, all I saw was his closed eyes. The feeling in my mouth regained and I felt his lips on mine. I closed my eyes, wrapping my arms round his neck with his arms round my waist. He slowly moved his head back a little; the tears began to erupt from my eyes.

"Don't be sad, we will meet again... I bet on it" His eyes which were so gentle and innocent began to turn sad and upset.

"I will miss you, Lexi Starlight" He hugged me so tightly that morning, I felt like it was imprinted on my body like the scar on my cheek.

"I'll... Miss you" I said with an upset voice, letting his hand escape from mine.

He walked off into the street, slowly vanishing by the sun's light. I brought the picture he gave me to my face, admiring his face, examining all his facial details. I walked off home, creating more imprints in the snow, imprints that will mark a historic event in my life, when I met the man who saved me... My strange meeting was unfortunately... Over.
