Discovery

"come on spike darling i need more gems for that dress" rarity commanded the purple baby dragon. "alright alright i'm comming, you know its hard for me not to start munching on these tastey treats." spike said lifting a bright red ruby out of the cart and holding it up, licking his lips. "spiiiiike? i told you dear, i'll give you another gem later." "awww i know i know." the unicorn and the dragon continued to walk together with rarity's horn glowing lightly. using her magic to look for gems in the ground. her eyes lit up when she spotted an odly shaped teal gem under the ground. "OOOOH! spikey hurry and dig that one up, right here!" she eagerly squeeled, pointing to the ground where the gem was burried. spike, with his tounge to the side, began to use his claws to dig into the earth. rarity stood back so as spike threw dirt up so she didn't get dirty. "SPIKE! careful your gonna get dirt in my mane."

spike was waist deep with his tail up in the air when his claw hit something hard. he jump up out of the hole will a shreik of pain, holding his claw as he ran around. "spikey what did you-..."rarity stopped when she looked down into the hole with her mouth agape. "ooooww... ooh man that hurt, whats down there?" spike asked holding his claw in his other. spike walked up to rarity and looked at her face and giggled. "rarity your look funny." but rarity continued to look down into the hole. spiked followed her gaze into the hole and his eyes went wide as well. "is that...? is that a dragon claw...?" "I-... I don't know." rarity responed. Spike jumped back down into his hole and felt the exposed peice of the dragon looking hand. it was grey colored but a little whiter than the ground itself. spike felt the claw and he looked suprised. "its stone!" "you think it might be part of a statue?" rarity asked "mmmaybe, lets see." spike said beginning to dig around the claw.

soon after a bit more digging, spike uncovered an arm and some spike like features, soon a head was uncovered eplaining the spikes as the statues long hair flowing infront of its head. "wait, dragons have hair?" spike asked rarity. the unicorn just shrugged, i wouldn't know, ive only seen a few, but non of them had a mane like what this statue has." rarity said as she examined the statue. as spike continued to dig out the statue, he exposed the face of the statue and indeed it looked very much like a dragon, but had its eyes shut closed and its mouth agape as if it was yelling, like in pain. soon there was a good sized pile of earth behind them from all the digging. now the upper body of the statue was uncovered, revealing a second arm that went even further down into the earth. the statue was wearing armor over some clothing, a long sleeved shirt sleeve over his left arm with a single peice of sleek armor over his wrist, going down his arm just before the elbow, with a couple spikes in the armor. its claws were open as if it were trying to catch something in it. up to the top of its arm there was no shoulder armor, but there was a rounded armor peice on its right shoulder spikes ran down the back of the statues head and down its neck and back. statue's chest and back was covered with armor like plates, continuing still into the ground

"keep it up spike, looks like you almost got it out." rarity urged him on. as spike continued to dig, he exposed more of the statue, revealing now legs and a large sword in its right claw, its legs were covered with some kind of pants with pockets on the lower hips, with more armor over the bends of the legs, which had more scratches on them, "well it definantly doesn't a very great taste in fashion." rarity spoke up when most of the statue was exposed. spike just rolled his eyes and stopped to examine the statue. "it kind of looks like an old guard or warrior statue, like what might go into a castle." spike said with his hand on his chin, thinking. "hmmm, maybe. lets leave it here for now and get Big Mac to help up carry it back into town. there is no way i am getting my mane dirty again, i will already have to get another spa treatment after this. my hooves are getting rather rash." rarity whined. "good idea, i'll stay here and continue to dig it out, when you get back maybe twilight will know what this weird kind of dragon is. its more pony like than any i have ever seen." alright spikey. be back in a jif! she yelled beginning to trot away. "be back soon! shouldn't take me long!" he yelled back with a wave.

as spike turned back towards statue again and examined it a little closer. he noticed more details in it such as some scars and scratches the statues body had. "well, what ever you are, you look like your really torn up. like you have been through alot" spike spoke to the statue, placing a claw on the statues chest. he quickly jerked his claw back and looked at his claw. "did i just feel a heart beat?"slowly the dragon placed his claw back onto the chest of the statue and tilted his head curiously. he sighed and slid his hand off the chest. "but, i swear i felt something. with a shrug, spike continued to dig out the statue.

rarity arrived at the nearby Apple Acres Ranch. she decided to head to the house first. rarity knocked on the door to be welcomed by the aged ol' granny smith. "hello my dear granny smith, is Apple Jack and Big Mac here?" "why, i believe theyre both in the barn sweetie." granny smith replied with her usual shakey aged voice. "why thank you granny, i'll head over there now." rarity nodded to granny smith before taking off in the direction of the barn. when rarity arrived at the barn she poked her head into the barn to see Apple Jack and Big Mac lifting some hay up onto the loft. Apple Jack spotted Rarity and waved over to her. "why Hi there shuga cube. what ya'll doin here?" Apple Jack asked her friend."Apple Jack, Big Mac, do you mind helping Spike and I with something?" "sure thang darli'n. i'll help, but where's spike?" Apple Jack asked. "well, while looking for gems for a faaabulous i'm making, spike and i discovered an old Statue, but we don't know what it is of. we want to talk it to twilight to see if she may know something about it." rarity explained. "a statue huh? sounds interestin. whad'ya say Big Mac, wanna help?" Big Mac nodded with a simple, "Yeap." "alrighty, Big Mac want to grab a cart? this thing sounds mighty heavy." again with a nod, Big Mac simply says, "Yeap." as he walked to the back of the barn.

spike had finally finished digging up the statue, expopsing it fully to the air. the statue was about five feet tall and now showed a long tail with multiple plates of armor on it. its feet were also exposed showing large talon like claws, with more armor on the shins. "why do you seem so familiar, like, i feel like know what you are, yet i don't." spike said, feeling the statues figures. spike then looked into the eyes of the statue, feeling the scar over its left eye. it felt rough and unmatching to the rest of its face. "Spiiiiike!" spike heard the voice of rarity sing out his name. "were back!" spike turned and climbed up and out of the hole to see his friends walking his way with a cart behind Big Mac. "Hey guys" "Hey there shuga, heard you be needing some some help with a staute you ponies found." Apple Jack asked with a smile to her friend. Spike smiled with a nod. "Yea, i havent even been able to make it budge." spike replied rubbing the back of his neck. "No problem sweetie. just move on over there. Big Mac and i will get it out." Apple Jack said as Big Mac and her climbed down into the hole. "Alright." spike said walking up the holes bank. "Alrighty Big Mac, lets git er done!" Apple Jack said encouraging her bother to help her lift the statue. they both gave a might heave and the statue finally lifted up into the air slowly. "dear Celestia this is heavy!" "Y-yeeaap!"

Twilight Sparkle looked around the library, examining the shelves for the correct book she was looking for. "where was that book on anceint creatures." she said speaking to herself. "ugh, i wish spike was here. he usually knows where to find these kind of books. AHA!" Twilights horn began to glow while she used her magic to bring the book down to her level. the book opened infront of her eyes and she started reading while walking to a desk. just as she sat down the door burst open, startling the purple pony. "SPIKE! i told you to stop kicking open those doors." "Twilight, hurry, we got something you need to see!" spike eagerly encourage his life long friend. "what do you mea- waaah! Spike!" twilight shouted as spike grabbed a hoove in his claw and tugged her outside.

when spike had tugged twilight outside, her mouth went agape at the sight infront of her. there standing there was a large grey statue, of a lare creature that made her all the more curious. "Where in the world did you get that statue?" she asked the group, zipping up to examine the statue. "Easy shugar cube, its not tied down and might fall." Apple jack warned the eager purple unicorn. twilight gently felt the grey stone statue with a hoof. "And, it was rarity and spike here." rarity nodded and held spike close to her while she explained. "while spikey and i were looking for gems in the outskirts of town, spike dug this up out of the ground." rarity explained to her friend. "so, you just found it and brought it here?" twilight asked. "yes of course, we thought you might know something on the subject as to what it might be." rarity said. Twilight face-hoofed herself "Duh!" "Yeeap..."

twilight stood there her hoof to her chin, examining the statue. you know, it is kinda familiar, but i can't really put my hoof on it." she explained, examining the face as its mouth was open in a yell like shape. she continued to examine the body of the statue, with her mind only filling with more and more questions. "hmmm... i think i have a book on unknown creatures in the library, Spike, could you find it and get it for me? " spike slumped his shoulders, "Fine." he said as he began to slowly walk back to the library. "Oh spikey!" he heard rarity call his name. he looked back behind him to see her trot up and place a kiss on his cheek. "Thanks for helping with all the digging and saving my hooves S'pikey Wikey'." she said playfully to the dragon. Spikes eyes went heart shaped with a goofy smile on his face as he started again to the library, looking to be in a drunken state. all the girls giggled at the obvious reaction he would have since he had his big, 'secret' crush on rarity.

not long after the baby dragon returned with book in hand, lipstick on cheek. twilight rolled her eyes and told him, "you know you will wash that cheek tonight riiight?" as spike handed her the book. "his eyes went downcast at the sudden reminder of this. "yea yea i know." twilight held the book up with her magic, causing it to float infront of her as she began to flip through the pages. "hmmm... lets see... AHA!" he exclaimed while looking up from the book. everypony looked towards her with curious eyes. "wait, no... no... thats not it." she told herself, looking back into the book. she closed the book with a deep sigh. "Nothing..." she set the book down on the cart and stared up at the statue. "I't kinda looks like its fighting." they all nodded in unison. "you know, the Princess may know something bout this." Apple jack suggested. twilight gasped as she suddenly got an idea. "Your right, she has lived longer than anypony. she may know something." twilight said, formulating a plan in her head. "Spike! hurry, take a letter." spike reached behind him and then pulled out a scroll and feather. "Dear princess Celestia..."
