late, but there

Sorry about not adding for so long...a lot of real life stuff happened reasently and honestly I forgot about this story...thanks for the new watchers because the notifcations I got worked as a reminder. .................

Ghost had no idea how long he had been in that hut. All he knew is that Foxes came in, shouted at him, caused him some kind of physical damage and left, followed by Grace with some kind of meal and a quick bit if first aid.

Ghost had learnt some things from Grace but when she and the Hunter who name he picked up as Jemi and some other hunter that he did not know, Came rushing in looking paniced and shouting before slamming the door. He could hear lots of activity outside followed by screams and running feet. "what's going on?" he asked while raising his head on the chair that he was tied to.

He saw the other hunter looked very much like Jemi, only they had a gold ring on his ear and a scar on his chest running from his right shoulder down to just above his heart. This Fox locked eyes with ghost. But ghost saw pure hatred in those eyes. Without warning he stormed over and landed a hard right hook straight into Ghost's face. It was so hard that the chair toppled over and Ghost saw stars swimming around his head.

The hunter shouted with a voice full or rage "You!!! You have doomed us all!! Why did you have to come here!!! Why!!" This enraged fox was about to bring his paw crashing down onto Ghosts face but at the last possable second Grace stepped in.

She said calmly "Drop it Surki this human" she indercated towards where Ghost was, "he clearly had no idea what would have happened and if you looked past his now blood-covered face you would see he still doesn't."

The blow that Ghost had recieved had opened an old cut just above his right eye and since wounds there bleed a lot, the blood was now covering his eye and restricting his sight. He heard some movement and then felt a cloth on the wound. Someone was wiping the blood away.

As his helper came into vision he saw it was Grace. He smiled a thank you to her which got a harsh Glare from the one they called Surki. She then rightened his chair but did not untie him.

Jemi then spoke "ok hopefully the others got to some sort of cover before the darkness got here...ok you know the drill Surki so I'll leave that up to you" he turned to Grace "now Grace since I've been ordered to protect you I'm going to have to follow your tail where ever you go, but I would recomend you get on first aid duty once this is over."

Ghosts sences were comming back and he could he a loud noice outside that sounded like thousands off bees buzzing, but because there were so many it had formed into a single loud hum. It was almost hypnotic.

Then Ghost's mind snapped back into action "hey if this darkness thing is so powerful then why doesn't it just break in here?"

Jemi looked towards Surki and sighed before turning back to Ghost "we know very little about the propities of the darkness but what we do know is that it will take control of living things. Well we think it takes control, we have had the theory that it takes the mind and consiousness of the being compleatly and replaces it with it's own."

Then as suddenly as it had came...the sound stopped. Everyone in the hut tenced up as if it was listening for them. Seconds felt like minutes. Minutes felt like hours. Until finally Jemi said "ok let's do this" he then watched Ghost intently, quite clearly weighing up his options. "ok human your comming aswell. Get him off that chair but do not free his paws"

Ghost was confused with this sudden action but his training had taught him to listen and look to learn...talking would make all of those 3 L's much harder.

Grace then said "Surki can you go to the storage and get Ghost's things."

Surki raised his voice once again "why would we give him those weapons?! Are you mad?"

Grace without changing her tone replied "I never said give them to him, I simpaly said get them, we are moving and he's comming with us."

Surki Growled in anger before sharply turning and storming out.

Jemi then untied Ghost and let him stand up. But that didn't last long as Ghost's legs gave way from not being used for a while. So for about a minute he sat there streaching them before standing up again but he was still wobbly.

Jemi then pulled out his knife and put it to Ghost's back "now your going to go where Grace goes and I'll be keeping an eye on you, understand?" Ghost replied with a simple nod.

But before there was enough time to start moving, a scream shattered the uneasy quite from outside. Grace then without hesertation ran out the door to see what was happening. And was greeted by the sight of a skeleton lying on the ground about 7 meters away from the hut. The bones were stripped clean off all flesh and a few tattered bits of clothing remained alone with other various bit that they had been carrying.

But from where she was standing she saw that one of the items was a knife with a red and White swirl pattern on the handle. "no" she said shakely. For she knew that only 1 of their tribe had a knife like that. "please no" she said as if what she was seeing was infact not there.

Jemi walked up to the body and his ears dropped. He pulled out his own knife and put a small cut in his paw to draw blood before putting the blood covered paw over his heart as a sign of respect. For the body infront of him was the body of Light claw. The leader of the Red Fire tribe.

/////////////

Hunter, Driver and Graves were still in the underground cave that they had found and were looking at the body under the shallow layer of water. Driver spoke "I wonder what got them? And how?"

Hunter confdently said "they were clearly not listening to the orders they were given and therefore made some stupid mistakes now I.D that body and salvage anything we can from aroud here"

Hunter knew that there was no way of finding out who that guy was unless he had some dog tags. But as this thought was going through his mind his tunnel training went through his mind and he had made one fatal mistake. He never even checked to see if they were being followed through the dark tunnel system. His mind flipped back to his training.

His instructor had said to him "Rule number 4. Always check for followers, set snap Ambushes, traps or even throw a flare. But always check because in that sort of place there's no way of knowing your being tailed until they strike or slip up."

Back in the cave While Hunter was going over these certain words he was also thinking of a way to do it now. So he flipped off his red light torch and aimed down where they had came. As expected he could only see blackness. So he put his plan into play. He pulled put his LED White light torch and flipped it on and shone it Down the tunnel. This would ruin his night vision but in the sudden bright light he caught the reflection of eyes...they were only there for a second but it was enough.

"Alright ladies we've been pinged. So get ready to take them out, but if you fire watch your shooting because these rocks will make those shots bounce all over the place."

The other 2 dropped what they were doing and searched around the room. They saw 3 different tunnels out of the cavern they were in. They had walked into a perfect kill zone.

Drive said loudly "Sir, we have to move, there are too many ways in here."

Hunter snapped back "I'll give the sugestions thank you! And I sugest that we get going ASAP now pick a tunnel and go!"

Driver franticly searched around and saw gleaming eyes comming from all apart from 1 of the tunnels out of there and thought it's the best one. "ok guys let's go, keep your archs covered and wa.."

Hunter cut him off "stop blabbering and get going!" he fired at one of the pairs of eyes and it was followed up with a screach of pain and the Echo of the shot which sounded as loud as a jet flying right past your head.

The glowing eyes started squeaking and screaching in anger at what Hunter had just done. And they swarmed Into the light which gave the men that were already moving down the tunnel a view if what they were.

They were like giant rats, from nose to tail they were almost as big as the soldiers. They came with black fur and teeth that looked like knives, their eyes were yellow and glowed in the light of the torches, and their tails were covered in black markings that were simlar to the design of creeping ivy.

Hunter let 2 more shots fly and the noise made his ears ring. He knew that if Graves Fired his LSW then they would probarly go deaf.

The tunnel they had gone down opened more and more until they could not see the roof or Walls anymore. It was all replaced with a never ending darkness but the sounds were ever increesing. The squeaks and screaches of the rats were all around them, echoing of the Unseen Walls, or maybe there was some rats there. Waiting in the dark.

These thoughts were some of the thoughts that had made the men break into a sprint, keeping the light infront of them so they would not run Into anything. They had a sence of running down hill sometimes and uphill others. There was plenty of turns they had to take without thinking of their actions. They had no idea where they were going and no idea where they had been.

One of the rats jumped at Hunter but he quickly ziped round and lodged a bullet in it's brain for it's troubles. He then shouldered his SA80 and pulled out his side-arm. It would be much easier to run and shoot with that. Then Graves tripped on a rock and fell hard dropping his LSW. Driver and Hunter without saying a word stopped and picked him back up onto his feet. As they were doing it more rats came into their vision. Their mouths snarling and ready to end the men's lives.

Driver flipped round and fired a few bursts of his weapon at them but once those rats were dead, others started ripping at their corpses and more ran past and towards the men. Hunter shouted "it looks like they missed their breakfast so unless you want to help them with that GET MOVING!!!"

They seemed to be running into nothingness forever but as the soldiers stamina was giving out they saw a burst of light. They ran towards it with the hopes off freash air and open ground.

Driver got a frag grenade out of his poutch and pulled the pin while still holding down the trigger. A nice little farewell present for the things Chasing them.

They were getting closer and closer to the light, Hunter had emptied the mag of his pistol and now just kept on running. The rats were getting closer and closer and Graves was sure that he could feel their claws scraping his boot. They were nearly there.

20 meters their energy was draining but they pushed on

15 meters a rat dived at Graves but he smashed it's face with his fist

10 meters they could see outside, they just had to push it.

5 meters A rat grabbed Drivers ankle and he went down.

2 meters before he could react they were on him, ripping away at his body as he weakly tryed to defend himself

1 meter he screamed his last word to the other 2 men "COVER!!!"

0 meters, 2 of the men burst through the exit and heard Drivers warning and dived left and right away from the exit. At the same time a rat snapped Drivers wrist and his fingers losened, then the grenade he was holding rolled out of his grasp. With nothing to keep the trigger down it exploded.

BOOM!!!

The explotion shook the ground and a torrent of fire engulfed Driver, and all the rats near him. The fire shot both ways up the tunnel and came rushing out of the exit that Hunter and Graves had just gone through.

The exit colapsed in onto itself and sealed up acting as the final resting place for Driver. Meanwhile the other 2 soldiers got up, it took them a while to figure out what had happened. But hunter broke the confusion and realisation by saying "what a way to go...toasting the enemy more than if whitpen was on cooking duty...you did good Driver...really good"

Graves was not as optamistic about what had just befallen his Brother-in-Arms. "I...he..." Graves just could not find the words the explain what had just happened...his childhood friend. Gone. In seconds.

Hunter was scanning the area they had come to. It was halfway Down the east side of the moutain on a ledge of about 30 meters squared. There was no clear path up or down and it was doubtful that Graves would be able to climb in his situation. "ahh this sucks"

Graves was sitting on the ground starring at the distance lost in thought. He had always been told that if someone close to him dies then try not to think about it. But it was inpossable not to think about what had happened. What made it worse is that it felt like someone had hit him with a sledge hammer. No thoughts were getting through clearly. Hunter said something but he never heard it. The most important thing in the world seemed to be to stare at the horizen.

Hunter reloaded his weapon and handed it to Graves along with his last few mags "you may need this" he then went about checking that his SA80 was still in working order. But none is this went to Graves...none of it...just emptyness.

Whitpen and Segolia were discussing what to do with Snake. The sound of the darkness had stopped for now and Sam was eager to get moving.

Segolia spoke first "if we take his weapons and observe him we could learn something."

Whitpen said back "where would be observe him? Besides the man is not something to just watch."

After a long discussion they thought the best case of action would be to take his weapons and ammo but leave Snake. The idea came From them thinking that if he was still Snake inside then he would be able to survive with all of the training he had recieved. If not then he's too far gone.

Sam stayed silent the whole time because he could see just how hard this choice was to make for them. He was sitting there playing with a feather that he carried around. The feather was of multiple colours and he liked the feel of it.

Sam sugested that they go and try to find his home. "it should not take too long and there will be lots of stuff to eat"

Segolia and Whitpen had not noticed but the ration they just had were the second from last they had on them. For that reason they agreed.

Sam had led them through the maze of trees, most of the time he looked like he knew where he was going. But other times he kept on changing direction and moving off another way.

Segolia thought to himself 'no matter what he does, he's still just a kid, why was he out here?'

Whitpen on the other hand was thinking hard about what they had done with Snake 'was it the right choice? What else could they have done?'

These thoughts were flowing around his head for so long that he didn't even notice that the others had stopped. They were at the edge of a small village but it was empty.

Sam looked around then at the sky and surrounding trees. "this is the right place, so where is everybody?"
