My name is Jonathan I'm a very skinny human, I don't have any muscles in me, in a sixteen year old human having a hard living in New York. In New York City were people say is a paradise, well part of it is but where I live isn't. we'll I don't really live anywhere I usually find an abandon building to sleep in, I have been living like this for three years I ran away from my real home it was just too hard to live there. I ran away for a reason that is just too painful to explain but were home was in Missouri. I know you're thinking how in the hell does a sixteen year old get from Missouri to New York but I had friends that help me.

It was December and New York was starting to get windy but I knew spots were we could stay warm. Oh and one more thing I forgot to say I took my little sister with me to make sure our father wouldn't hurt her. I have been always using money to give her food and clothing, since I was sixteen I was able to get a job in Apple Tree Grocery store it made plenty of money but it was hard to work with furs making fun of your kind they would push me in the streets and theirs time when they come to where I sleep and try to hurt my little sis. I might look skinny but I'm strong for an average human. Now on with today, today was Tuesday which was the days I worked my little sis is in school thanks to the bribe to the Principal, but my job in the store was being the janitor I had to mostly clean up messes and mop the floors after the store closes. I was walking around the store and checking to see if products needed to be organized, nothing much was really happening till a group of teen furs looked at me. There were four of them a lion, wolf, coyote, and I rhino as they came to me I went to my regular routine act like there not there and go back to work.

"Hey tree branch." Lion said, they gave me the nickname Tree branch due to what I really did look like... a tree branch. I didn't speak to anything they said I just kept ignoring them.

"Tree branch answer me." The lion waved his paw in front of my face and I ignored it once again.

"Well looks like he's blind and deaf all the hobo shit finally got him." The group laughed at the joke but it didn't affect me. I went to the pickle jar and reorganized them to the right spots they were supposed to be then the lion spoke again. "Hey guys he has a little sister that had a really great body." Whispering to the group but making sure I heard to I froze he knew it pisses me off when he talks about my little sis. My anger began to rise I just the pickle jar and it shattered into pieces pickles going everywhere as I turned around and gave the Lion an uppercut to his face. The lion back away looking at his wound but it was a only a bloody nose they he told hid group. "Hold him down guys." the rhino and the coyote grabbed my arms and I tried my very best to get lose but it was completely hopeless. The lion came closer and kicked my knee making it go sideways they let go of me. I fell on the ground the glass of the pickle jar puncturing my skin causing more pain the lion came closer and then close his face almost touching my then spoke. "know your place tree branch."

"Hey!" I heard someone yelled then they left, I got up and then fell again on the glass and yelp again.

"Hey are you ok?" he came closer to me and he handed me a hand and I took it and he pulled me up to my feet I looked at the person and he was a Doberman at least 6'9 feet tall. He was wearing an officer uniform and apparently he was a cop. I looked at him ignoring the pain on my back with glass in my back. 'Yeah......im ok."

"Jonathan to the office please." The intercom said,

"I gotta get going hope you find everything you need here." I said and walked to the office. The office wasn't far from where I was I went inside the office and saw my boss he was an elephant I chubby one too. "I was just scanning through my window and I saw you getting to a fight on the job!" he yelled pointing to where I was fighting. "Im sorry boss they got me really mad and the pickl.." he interrupted me.

"I don't give a rats ass who fault it was you just wasted a jar of pickles." He said to me.

"Im sorry ill clean the mess it won't happen again." I said to him then walk out, half way out the door he spoke. "I know it won't cause your fire." I stopped at the door and turned to look at my boss. "What?" I asked hoping I misheard him. "You heard me your fire" I walked to his desk and started to plead. " nononononon no please I need this job, how am I suppose to feed my sis with any money?" hoping my little sis would give him the heart of letting me keep my job.

"I don't care now beat it." He said turning his desk around to look at his computer. I stood there thinking about my future my sis is going to starve because I was being an asshole in work. I began to tear up a lot and walked out the office and then out side of the store and went down the street I kept walking still bursting into tears. I cant believe it, everything went so well till this happen. I heard a honk of a horn and turned around to see a cop car coming towards me. The passenger window went down for me to see who it was and then I saw him, it was the Doberman.

"Need a ride home kid." He asked kindly with a smile on his face,

"No thanks im...." I looked up ahead and saw the lion with his group down the street so I changed my mind, " im mean yeah thanks." I opened the door and sat in the seat and closed the door then put my seatbelt on. He drove off then asking me "Where do you live?" he asked I was trying to find a way for him to drop me off then get were my sis is right now. "Down the street at stoney brooks." I told him and he droved down it was a quiet ride there then he spoke again. "Im Khile By the way" he said.

"Im jonathan." I said to be nice,

"I know I heard your name on the intercom at the store." He said giggling I got sad again and he noticed. "Whats wrong?" I looked up at him and he was looking at the road and me. "Well thanks to my action I got fired and now I have no money for food or clothing." He then looked at me confused.

"Don't you have parents to live with?" he asked

"I live with my grandmother and she doesn't make a lot of money so I got a job to do that." I lied. My left eye twitching.

"well here we are." He Parked the car in front of the building I told him that I lived I got out of the car and I came to his window and spoke. "thanks for the ride Khile."

"Any time" he said and drove off, I walked a few buildings from where Khile dropped me off the build was abandoned and there was a broken window me and my sis new about to let us in the building I went upstairs and saw my little sis drawing on the walls again. She saw me and came to hug me. "babba your home!" I hugged her back in return she was 13 years old and was tan her name was Jackie I was tanner though she had brown eyes like mine, the room we slept at had one bed I let my sis sleep on it while I stayed up and watch in case of intruders. She asked me a question. "Babba your home early what happen?" we promised each other to never lie to each other no matter what so I told her. "I got fired"

"What why?" she asked

"I was being an ass at work and messed up." Then we heard a voice that scared the shit out of us as Jackie ran to another room like I told her before. "So this is where your really staying." It was Khile.

"How did you found me?" asking shackily

"don't worrie im not going to tell anyone I knew you were lying by the way your left eye was twitching in the car so I followed you."

"What you going to do now?" I asked about ready to head to the fire exit outside of the window .

He got a piece of paper out and wrote something on it and handed it to me. I looked at it and I saw it was a number.

"if you ever need anything just call me." He walked off but I stopped him,

"wait why are you doing this?" Khile came to me and then spoke.

"Because behind that thin body your strong and If I took you two to a orphanage you would be separated and never see each other again so consider this a gift from me if you need food or clothing or even a house to stay..im just one call away." He walked down the stairs and out the window. I went to were Jackie was hiding and told her what happen. "Do you think we need him?" she asked,

"We been doing fine without him we are going to be ok. Now lets get to bed you still got school to go to tomorrow." She groaned and half an hour later she was asleep I watch her fall asleep the went to a whole in the wall and grabbed a .22 pistol out and took the safety out and held it in my hand then sat down next to Jackie she was warm with all the blankets I bout with the coat I got her. I was wearing just a coat it was the bigginig of winter and I had a bad feeling that this winter was going to be a cold one. During the night I kept thinking. Am I going to die? How am I going to get money? But most importantly. Can I trust Khile?
