Gravity

This is another something I found laying about on my unfinished scarps pile, thought it was a nice little scene worth at least sharing.

It features Randal, an engineering officer inspired largely snirk by the Hellhounds in the "Chronicles of Riddic", and Degandis "Gobbs" Tiberius Linden, the chief science officer of an unidentified canine species who through some horrible accident was transformed into a sentient slime creature.

basicly it's a brief interlude into their 08:1E wake up call.

thank you for your patronage.

A soft tone broke the silence of the room, a single annoyed eye opening to peer over the edge of a blanket. The violet eye and its owner glared at the green display " 08:1E" it flashed (Hexadecimal for 08:30). With several soft clicks, the blanket was freed from its clasps and floated gently away from the bed, revealing a rather sleepy looking, razor scaled, canidae. Randal yawned widely, jaw unhinging to reveal the three terrible rows of razor sharp teeth. Smacking his lips he used both hands to give a generous scritching to his exposed gut before kicking off away from the wall. as he floated to the wall opposite he tugged at his tight undershirt pulling it down over the softer scales covering his ponderous belly, only to snort in frustration as it once more slid up to reveal a three inch band of charcoal scales, belly button framed dead center.

Randal narrowed his eyes at the shirt, the scales on his fat back standing as though they were fur, ripping fresh holes in the dingy white fabric. His scales flashed red briefly in anger, then faded to grey as he sighed and wiped the chrome prosthetic scales on his face and up over to the back of his neck (most people would think losing nearly a third of your head would render an engineer useless, but Randal just got up, scratched his butt, and returned fire). Still floating lazily towards the rooms control panel, the weightless mongrels ears swiveled actively, listening for problems in the ship till the augmented displays built into his ocular prosthesis finished booting, the soft pink flesh of his right ear tattooed with an screaming angels head, the leather prosthetic left carved with the words "Fat kids love cake" the cake being in the speech bubble of an anthropomorphised earth fox. Too distracted by his shirt to notice where he was going, his belly impacted the wall eliciting a soft *Wurff* from the porky canid as his brief flight was over.

Righting himself in the upward orientation of the room, he pushed himself down to the floor and worked the gravity and light sliders. His implant finished booting as his real eye adjusted to the light, and he took notice of how much more gravity was affecting him these days. The blue and yellow OLED "iris" on his K-69 slid around the lifeless grey implants surface as he scanned the various systems and readouts of the ships vitals augmented onto the walls of the room, before coming to rest on a glass cylinder in the corner opposite his own bed. *Sighing again he thudded heavily over the the barrel of red goo and thudded his fist twice on the lid "Hey Gobbs... It's time to wake up..." he waited a moment before thudding the lid again, the red goo within stirring like the lava of so many 70's lamps. "Wake up... 'M not explaining to the captain why you're still sleeping.

As Randal made his way into the pressure showers, the lid on the glass life support barrel opened with a generic pressurized *Woosh* and its lone occupant oozed his way upwards to peer over the edge of the cask. Tumbling over the edge with an almost comedic *Gloop*, Degandis "Gobbs" Tiberias Linden was once more pryed from a pleasant dream of a solid body to the waking horror that was his life. The mound of iridescent goo stretched vertical with relative ease, two tentacle like tendrils forming into what one would assume were arms, with a canine head yawning into existence. Gobbs quietly slid about through his morning routine, logging into the comm station and checking the various experiments under his care, being the most unusual science engineer was a never ending job.
