Truth or Dare

Chapter 1: I think . . .

It was so hot, so fucking hot. It was the kind of heat that sucks the very moisture from your mouth leaving it dry and parched. The windblown sand shifting so lightly in the breeze was like talcum powder or 'Moon Dust' as many referred to it with mock affection. The crap got into everything and did not come out.

Deamos shifted his body armor for umpteenth time trying to get the latches and straps in a more comfortable spot. He was not the only one doing so. "100 pounds of body armor and they can't put a fucking AC in the thing," Deamos grumbled to himself and gritting his teeth slightly. Looking over to his radio operator, he saw the Ferret give a big grin and a thumbs up. Deamos himself allowed a slight grin to show on his face,"show time."

Tapping several buttons on a small wrist pannel the H.U.D. activated and he saw everyone on his team listed on the left side of his vision. Small names hovered over everyone that was in his field of vision. His forward scouts showed up as simple green pyramids with a number indicating their distance.

"Alright fuck-nuts get off your asses," Deamos growled, "the target has been confirmed, He is there, standard procedure no hot dogging it. We grab and fly. We get this done and it is a month of shore leave."

"I can tag him from right here," a voice crackling over the internal radio of his helmet said. The owners picture showing on Deamos's H.U.D.

"Not if you feel like running for the rest of your life Andrew," Deamos cautioned he knew the Jackal would if it had been under different circumstances.

"All he'd feel would be the recoil," Nathan replied coldly, Andrews twin brother and spotter.

"Make sure your gear is good," Deamos ordered, turning his radio to mute, while checking his pulse-rifles charge one last time, "move out!"

They had only gone a few dozen meters when Deamos's Threat Assessment System (TAS) started pinging like mad. Calling the team to a halt everyone laid down in the prone position. Once down the armor they wore automatically engaged their optical camouflage; effectively making them invisible to the naked eye and most forms of scanning equipment. Frowning Deamos scanned the area ahead not seeing anything. Tapping the side of his helmet his vision change to shades of black and white, the sand showing up as bright white and various shades of grey while the sky remained an ominous black.

"Anyone see anything?" Deamos hissed, tapping the side of his helmet again, returning his vision to normal. When no one answered Deamos swore under his breath, something was very wrong and they all knew it. A sonic boom caused him to look skyward and his stomach dropped. Arcing across the sky was a bright glow with a smoke trail following behind it. He watched at the bright glow went past the horizon before impacting causing a nightmarish cloud of hate and discontent to rise upwards. Of the two triangles that had been visible to him only one was still visible and it was no longer green but red. It flickered for a moment before disappearing completely.

"They have a fucking orbital defense platform?!" a feminine to his right snarled, Deamos identified it as Jess a she wolf, "how the fuck di-"

Her voice was cut off abruptly as the shock wave from what hit the ground reached them with an overpowering roar. Even from the distance they were at, all could feel themselves lifting slightly from the ground and carried for a moment. This brought several startled cries from the team came out as they felt themselves being dragged across .

"We just lost our sniper team," Demos relayed to everyone, "I think we have been sold out."

The sound of a second sonic boom caused everyone to look up. It was a surreal moment above them they could see the angry red glow bearing down on them. Everything seemed to have slowed down Deamos tore his eyes away and started barking orders, all around him his team was scrambling to their feet and running. To him it appeared as if the air around them had suddenly become thick because all around him his team was moving agonizingly slow. Flipping a small panel up on his arm he hit a button that he had hoped to never use.

Each combat suite was designed to protect the wearer from small arms and most medium caliber weapons as well as nuclear, chemical and biological threats. They all came with a life support system that would administer nerve blocks and stimulants as required. It had the ability to suppress bleeding for most traumatic injuries. It also enhanced the wearers speed and strength by a factor of 4. It also came with a onetime use nerve stimulant; this would cause a short period where one could move faster, react quicker, and ignore pain. The down side to this was it caused extensive muscle damage, minor nerve damage, and in some cases death due to artery blow out.

Depressing the button the effects were instant for Deamos, everything became mush sharper. Turning around Deamos ran over to his radio operator scooped him up under one arm before turning back and running the way he had just come. The radio was there life line and he was going to do what he could to protect it. Running hard he saw Jess stumble and nearly fall, reaching out with his free hand he grabbed the back of her armor and yanked the grey wolf to her feet. He had just a second to get eye contact from her when everything went to hell.

A jarring thud.

Earth thrown skyward.

A muffled roar.

Someone screaming.

A sickly sweet smell.

Darkness.

Deamos stat up sharply, the sheets he had been under slid down, pooling around his waist. His breathing was coming in ragged grasp, lungs screaming for air. It took several moments before he got his breathing under control. He ran one hand down his face in an attempt to clear his head, claw tips unconsciously tracing an ugly burn scar on the right side of his face. Taking several more deep breaths the Black Dragon got up from his bed.

As he moved towards his bathroom, still rubbing his face, he took a split second to look at himself in a full length mirror. Pausing he dropped his hand from his face and just stared at his reflection. His reflection stared blankly back at him partially obscured by the lack of light. "Almost look normal," he commented under his breath.

The light from a passing vehicle destroyed the illusion. The room was lit up for just a second as the white light washed through the room. Staring back at him he could see the burn scar running from the right side of his face and down his neck. His right eye did not match his left; instead of a gold iris staring back the subtle glint of metal indicated the false optics. Trailing even further down dog-tags rested between his pecks. The tags did not bear his name but those of five others. His chest had a smattering of smaller scars, none larger then quarter but no smaller then a dime. A six inch scar that was two inches wide ran just below his solarplex, the grey tissues standing out starkly against the black. With a resigned sigh Deamos turned and continued his journey towards the bathroom, the receding light just glinting off the metal of the last third of his tail.

Entering the bathroom he shuddered slightly as his left foot came in contact with the cold tile, the claws on his toes lightly clicking on the surface; and winced visibly when the distinct sound of metal against tile when his right foot came down. Continuing for a few steps he stopped in front of the bathroom sink and leaned against it. Looking up at the mirror he was once again reminded of how he looked.

"I'm way too old for this shit," he groused under his breath.

Turning on the water he splashed his face a few times, the cooling water helping to clear his head. Drying himself off he took one more look at himself before shaking his head, "way too old for this."

* * *

The sound of dance music was quite audible as the elevator doors opened. Twitching her ears in annoyance Katlin shifted the paper bag she was carrying and walked briskly to her apartment. As she drew closer the music only intensified and had a very distinct techno beat to it. Pausing in front of her door she balanced the bag in one arm and with her free hand she fished around in her pocket for her keys. Being jeans they were not difficult to find but they were a bit of a pain to get out. Letting out a small bark of triumph she opened the door to her apartment and was blasted by a rather loud and fast paced beat. Lowering her ears slightly and scrunching her face up in annoyance she went in and kicked the door closed, she could barely hear the door slam.

Walking directly to the kitchen she dropped the bag on the nearest counter and stormed off to her front room. Upon entering she was greeted by her roommate, who was at the moment bent over so that her head was by her knees. Growling Katlin marched over to the stereo and turned it off. The abrupt silence only served to prove how loud it had been.

"What have I said about this?" Katlin inquired angrily, her hands on her hips and head cocked slightly.

The snow leopard slowly stood up, raising her hands up over her head and arching her back slightly so that her rather large breast stood out more. Looking over at Katlin, her sky blue eyes twinkling mischievously she slowly brought a leg up so that her foot was above her head.

"I'm wearing clothes," Diana replied in a lusty tone, "I don't know what the problem is."

"The music? Hello?" Katlin replied, one hand waving towards the sound system while blood slowly went to her ears blushing at the sight of her roommate as well as the tone.

"Awwwww, wittle fowksy is blushing," Diana replied giggling, "besides I was practicing. The music is louder than that and Diamond."

"Wearing a thong and . . . one of my sport bras!?'

"I needed something that would hold them in place, don't be so squeamish."

"I am not squeamish!"

"Oh?"

"Don't you-"

Katlin was cut off as Diana walked over to her grabbed the front of her shirt and pulled the surprised vixen into a passionate kiss. Her tongue forcing its way into Katlin's mouth, Katlin's eyes going wide with sock. A surprised squeak was all that she managed to get out when she felt one of Diana's paws gently grasp her left breast, kneading her through the material causing a small moan from Katlin. Breaking the kiss Diana pulled away a small string of spittle connecting the two briefly before breaking.

Leaning in so her mouth was next to Katlins ear she whispered in a husky voice, "do you like it when I do this?" squeezing her left breast for emphases, "I know you do, I can smell you." Hearing this Katlin blushed so hard it could be seen even against the red of her own fur, this of course only made Diana continue her actions, becoming bolder. Pushing Katlin gently Diana forced her roommate to take several steps back until she was up against the wall. Moving in close so that her body was pressed firmly against Katlin's. Letting go of her shirt Diana was beginning to get more physical, grinding against her friend slowly while the hand that had been holding Katlin let go and wast on her belt fumbling with the clasp.

A slight cough caused both girls to freeze, eyes snapping open Katlin saw a very strong looking male horse standing just outside of Diana's room clad in only in a bath towel. He was not bulgy as some of his species were but he was in very good shape as most of the muscle groups were clearly defined under his fur. Diana for her part slowly looked over her shoulder before grinning wickedly when she saw the horse.

"Like what you see?" Diana asked while wiggling her rump and holding her tail straight up.

"Um . . .," the horse began to say, looking away as one of his hands ran over his head and down the back of his neck before stopping just above his shoulders embarrassment clearly showing on his face.

"Who's that?" Katlin asked meekly, embarrassment clearly showing as the skin inside her ears had turned beet read.

"Oh my new boy toy."

"Yeah . . . I came out to ask if you . . . uh . . . had any other soap beside that . . . um . . . fruity stuff."

"I n-n-need to g-g-o," Katlin managed to stutter, squirming away from Diana and quickly making her way to the kitchen her tail fur completely poofed out. Making it to the kitchen she leaned up against one of the cabinets both hands going to her face as a silent sob escaped her lips. Feeling her eyes beginning to tear up she quickly snatched her keys up from the counter, where the bag of groceries still sat, and made a beeline for the door.

"Where you going Kat?" asked Diana in a joking tone, "don't be like that, you can play with him too." The horse's ears perked up upon hearing that statement. The sound of the door slamming was the only response she got.

Storming down the hall of the apartment complex Katlin tried to regain her composure, but was failing miserably. She was not actively crying but tears of anger were in a constant flow causing the fur under her eyes and down her face to become matted. Looking at the floor and trying to concentrate on the pattern of the carpet and not the fact that her roommate had been kissing her, feeling her up and had been seen for who knows how long by some random guy clad in a towel. She could not believe that she would go that far, it was bad enough when her roommate borrowed her clothes without asking, brought all sorts of guys back to their place on a weekly basis none hanging around longer than a few days, but having a make out session and getting caught that was something else all together.

'I'm not gay,' Katlin thought to herself, 'yes I experimented a little in collage but . . . fuck. I have yet get laid, and my roommate fucks anything that looks at her twice!' she let out a silent scream. Her hands balled up into fists and pressed tightly against her face. Still not looking up from the carpet, her forward movement came to a sudden and jarring halt as she ran into a wall that should not be there.

Landing on her butt Katlin let out a painful yelp before her hands went to her head, "ouch-ouch-ouch, where the hell di-", her voice caught in her throat when she opened her eyes and slowly looked up and saw a pair of black steel-toed boots that had the steel toe guard visible and polished to a brilliant gleam. Black pants were bloused over the top of the boots. Her eyes traveling further up they came to a silver belt buckle connecting a grey belt, further up they traveled up a dark grey shirt, black scaled arms clearly showing well defined muscle groups, a broad chest connected to a thick neck and finally stopping at the owners face.

The first thing she noticed was the discolored grey scales on the right side of the dragons face. The second thing she noticed was the unusual green sun glasses that hid his eyes. The finial things she finally noticed was that he was holding a empty coffee cup the contents having been unceremoniously spilt against him. His left eye ridge was slightly raised behind the green lens.

"S-s-s-so sor-r-ry," stuttered Katlin, realizing that the Black Dragon was twice her height and looked like he could have ripped her limb from limb without batting an eye, "I didn't see you."

"I gathered that," the Dragon replied sounding both amused as well as irritated, "are you ok?"

"I . . uh, yes?" Katlin replied scrambling to her feet. Once on her feet she realized that he was taller than what she had originally thought. She was not short standing at 5'10" not counting the tips of her ears, and her head barely reached below his ribs, "I can get you some m-more coffee for you if you want," she said wring her hands slightly.

The dragon let out a soft snort, and was that smoke?, before speaking, "I'm Deamos and you are?"

"Who, I, wha?"

"Your name, or do you want me to refer to you as fox lady?" he replied cocking his head to the side slightly.

"Katlin," she replied her ears laying flat in embarrassment.

"Ok Kat, I bought this over at the stand on 22nd you know the one?"

Katlin nodded vigorously, she didn't know why but she suddenly felt like she was back in high school.

"Good, you go get me another cup bring it to 355C within the next hour and I won't have you pay for the dry cleaning bill."

"A-a-any particular type?"

"Just tell them it's for Deamos and they will do the rest," he replied while pulling out a wallet and thumbing out a few bills, "this should cover it."

Katlin took the money from him, her hands hardly able to hold the money as they were shaking so bad.

"See you in a bit Kat," Deamos said as he walked past her, "45 minutes to be exact, don't be late."

Katlin turned to follow his movement as he proceeded down the hall. She took the moment to watch him leave her eyes were first drawn to what looked like a barcode tattoo at the base of his neck, done in gold ink, just above the collar of his shirt, second thing she toticed was that he had hors that swept behind his head, the right one being broken about halfway, he also had two smaller spikes right where his jaw began to bend. The last thing she noticed was his tail, blushing she chided herself checking out his ass but felt justified due to the later portion of his tail looked almost metal but moved naturally with his gait. She continued to watch him until he entered his apartment at the end of the hall at which point she blinked a few times and stared down at the money in her hand.

***

Diana left her room, wearing a pair of loose fitting sweatpants and sweater, closing the door behind her but not before one would have seen the horse from earlier sprawled out on her bed snoring. Walking into the main room of the apartment she found Katlin sitting on the couch with a worried but distant look on her face. She also noticed two large cups of coffee sitting directly in front of her roommate on the coffee table. Intrigued, Diana walked over to Katlin and quietly sat down next to her.

"I . . .," was all Katlin managed to say.

"Sorry about earlier," began Diana, "I kinda let myself go there for a minute. I can make it up to you, how about I take you that new place downtown? Just us girls having a night on the town. We can get all dressed up flirt with some of those two wolfs there, you known the ones; we saw them last time, very fit looking and hot as hell, they gave us their numbers . . . Katlin you listening to me?"

Katlin continued staring forwards, "I have twenty minutes before I have to drop this off."

"You making coffee runs now?" inquired Diana, "who did ya get it for? You find a friend while you were out?"

Katlin's gaze dropped to look at the coffee but not before Diana could see the blush forming on her roommates face.

"Wow you did! Who is it someone in the building? It has to be you were not gone that long and I recognize the vendor of that coffee. And I have never seen you turn so red girl, so tell me who is it that caught your fancy?"

"H-h-he didn't catch my fancy," objected Katlin looking over at Diana, "I ran into him because I was not paying attention because of what you did! Now I have fifteen minuets to get this over to his room."

"It is someone in the building, I knew it," Diana squealed, "you have to tell me. It's been what four, six years since Mark broke it off with you. Finally coming out of your shell, we can share info and all kinds of raunchy things."

"I'm not like that," Katlin said meekly, "You know I haven't even, you know."

"Oh come on now just say it all ready, stop being so prudish. Yes I know you have not been fucked yet, which is all the more reason as to why I want to know who it is. I'm not letting this drop."

"He is in 355C."

Diana sat back slightly her eyes growing large before a Cheshire cat-like grin formed on her face, "oh my gosh. How the hell did you manage to strike up a conversation tall scaled and handsome"

"I ran into him and spilt his coffee all over his shirt," began Katlin in a soft voice, "I don't think he was angry, but he had me go get him a new cup and told me I had until well ten more minuets until I have to be there."

"You lucky bitch, I have been trying all year to get him to even glance my way; and here little ol' you manage to get a coffee run for him."

"It's not like that. I am just getting him the coffee that I knocked over."

"Did you get a look at his ass and tail?"

" . . ."

"And your telling me it was not like that?" crossing her arms and leaning back with a smug look on her face.

"it's not, I saw his butt only because I saw that the latter half of his tail looked to be made of flex steal."

"Right, well you better get going or you are going to miss that deadline."

Looking to the nearest clock Katlin saw she had less than five minutes to get over to 355C without spilling any of the coffee, "dang it!" shooting to her feet she grabbed the two coffees and hurriedly walked out the door. Diana could only smile as she watched her go.

Katlin reached the door one minute after the allotted time she was given. Shaking slightly she reached out and knocked on the door. Her tail hung limply behind her as she waited not knowing what exactly the situation was that she was in. The sound of someone approaching from the inside caused Katlin to tense up slightly. When the door opened she swallowed involuntary Deamos stared back at her, still wearing the odd green colored glasses.

"You are late," chided Deamos.

"Well here is your coffee so take it and I will be on my way."

"The fuck you are, get in here and put the coffee on the counter," replied Deamos in a tone that was somehow friendly. Katlin, for her part, just stood there. His reply shocked her being that she had not had never been spoken to in such a way. "Gonna catch flies if you don't shut your mouth, close the door once you're in." Turning around Deamos walked back into his apartment.

Katlin did not know why she did it but she actually obeyed, she walked into a stranger's apartment and shut the door with her foot. Walking slowly she noticed that the apartment was larger than the one she lived in. She also noticed that it was clean, immaculate to be precise. 'Maybe he is gay?' she thought. With that idea she began to relax somewhat, continuing her way to the kitchen she saw numerous framed pictures on the wall in both color and in black and white. The images featured at first glance they seemed harmless. It was when she looked closer that she realized every photo showed, for the most part, the same five individuals. All where clad in military type camouflage clothing and body armor, looking closer she recognized the armor they were all wearing. It was when she saw the unit insignia on the armor that she felt her stomach fall to her feet and a cold chill run up her spine.

"Did we get lost?" Deamos said suddenly from behind her, causing her to whip around so fast she almost dropped the drinks, "front room is this way, you can drop the drinks there and be on your way or stay and chit chat if you want." Deamos turned and walked the direction of the front room.

'How can someone that big move so quietly,' she thought to herself being so startled that she had forgotten about what she had just seen, 'you can do this, he seems nice enough, drop off the coffee be polite and leave.' Following after Deamos she could not help but look around the apartment, there just seemed to be so much space compared to hers. When she came to the front room she stopped and could only stare.

The room had the largest flat screen televisions she had seen. She knew what it was and how much it cost which only made her wonder at what Deamos did for a living. She saw about the room various speakers which could only be for a surround-sound system also very expensive. There were various other generic front room items scattered about the room but the one thing that almost floored her was the coffee table that he had.

"Is that real wood?!" Katlin asked in a shocked tone.

"Yeah, had it delivered last week," Deamos replied from a rather large recliner, "customs was a bitch though."

Walking over to it Katlin put the cups of coffee on the table, which she now saw had a glass laminate over the top, and ran her now free hands over the exposed wood. "You can afford something like this yet you live in moderate apartment complex. Why not the Rose Wood sector?"

Deamos only chuckled, a sound that almost mimicked a low growl.

"Well I dropped off the coffee," began Katlin, straightening herself, "It was pleasant and I need to get going."

Deamos only chuckled again.

Feeling more than a bit uneasy she began to slowly walk to the door, "Well it was nice meeting you and I suppose I will see you around."

As she turned to leave Deamos spoke in a level tone that seemed to demand one to listen to it, "I will be swinging by your place around 7:30 tonight. I like you so I am going to take you to dinner so we can keep talking. Wear something comfortable and that can be removed fairly easy. See you then Kat."

The last part of his request made Katlin's ears stand up and the fur on her tail to stand on end as she march/walked out of the apartment. Closing the door behind her she felt as if she had escaped from a dangerous situation and she did not know why. Continuing towards her apartment she wondered if he was kidding or being serious. The past few relationships she had been through they had never been so forward as to their intentions. She knew what most males wanted in the end when dating but she had never let it get that far. Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, she forced herself to walk at a normal pace back to her own apartment.

As soon as he heard the door close Deamos let out a sigh, leaning forward in his chair he rested his forearms on his knees. Removing the glasses that he had been wearing he set them on a side table next to his chair. He did not know why he had been so forward, it had been months since he had done anything remotely looking like a date or entertaining the opposite sex. Closing his eyes and pinching the ridge that was just between them he tried to figure out where the hell he could go. "Things were so fucking simple then . . . now . . . time to figure this . . . what the hell is that smell?"

Looking up Deamos tried to locate the smell that was assaulting his sense. It wasn't the coffee or the light perfume that Katlin had been wearing it was much subtler. It was a light cinnamon sent that seemed to ride the air currents and then vanish before one could locate where is originated from. Standing he grabbed one of the cups of coffee and headed over to his computer, booting it up he sat and waited for the security protocols ran their course. Taking one sip of the coffee he realized that it had gone cold and now tasted akin to burnt popcorn. Grimacing he set the cup down and logged in, he immediately went to the search engine and began pulling up local listings, "let us see what we have that won't break the bank."

Entering her apartment Katlin walked towards her room in semi daze her brain still trying to process what had just happen. She faintly heard someone speaking to her but they sounded like they were underwater and far away. Entering her own room she sat on the edge of her bed and just stared blankly, she felt a slight slap on one side of her muzzle. The feeling was not painful and before she could fully comprehend what was the cause she felt the same slap on the other side of her muzzle. Blinking the world came crashing back on her and she saw Diana in front of her with a worried expression across her face and one hand on her shoulder.

"What happed honey?"asked Diana, concern clearly evident in her tone, as she sat down next to Katlin keeping one hand on her shoulder.

"I . . . I'm . . . I'm not sure," Katlin replied her ears going back as she looked down at the floor.

"Did something happen over their?"

She shook her head.

"Honey, tell what happened," slight edge creeping into her voice.

She shook her head.

"Did that scaly bastard touch you?" sharper edge to her voice.

She closed her eyes and shook her head.

"Did that fucking male try something?" Diana asked more harshly then she had intended, causing Katlin to flinch back.

"I . . . I . . . I t-think I was just asked on a date," Katlin whispered meekly.
