This was a small project i did back in the day as part of a writting exercise. I cant remember exactly what rules i had to follow in the exercise but ultimately i feel it came out rather well. Next story i have the intention of involving furries. somehow i fell i've neglected them in my short skits :P.

REALITY CHECK

By Nathan Glen Iverson

I stared out the window through a pair of dingy blinds looking into the street below. It was midnight and the darker more dejected part of society had emerged to make their living in whatever shameless and offensive way that was marked in their trade. A neon sign above a bar across the street flickered on and off casting an eerie glow into this dull and ill-favored abode of mine. The sidewalks and streets were illuminated by only a couple street lamps, casting off enough light to guide the feet of those crestfallen individuals.

Within an ally a couple bums kept each other company around a lit barrel, providing a comforting warmth against the chill wind within the night. A few feet away, underneath one of the street lamps, stood a hooker ready to turn a trick for one of her next eager customers. Despite her trade, she was well dressed and her looks were even to match. Her hair was black and bowl cut, reflecting like onyx beneath the artificial light. Her face was pale white with blue lipstick to compliment her monochrome features. Her neck was adorned with a black fur scarf complimenting her black elbow high gloves and short form fitting dress. In her right hand she held a lit cigarette, the filter tainted blue from her lips. She took a short drag and exhaled, the smoke dancing around her and slowly drifted away as it was caught on by a light breeze. Her standing there was almost artistic and beautiful in its own shameful way. A car pulled up, and after a short conversation with the driver she disappeared into the night, the Mona Lisa of the projects.

This is entertainment to me, the way one should view life. Not rotting on a piece of furniture in front of some electrical device infected by the media but instead by personally experiencing it, having the chance to touch it if you so desired. At least in life you can control the destiny of the next, seemingly insignificant minuet if the current events aren't turning in your favor or you can just sit back and enjoy watching other people's problems unfold. If you think about it, some of the greatest things we see are unscripted.
