Chapter 6

Daniel was a casual driver. He didn't do anything too extreme. Such as gunning the engine, or driving the car off the street into some helpless fur. Kilik coul have fallen asleep but Daniel allowed a paw to wander off of the wheel to rest behind the drugged fox's head.

"Hey. You hungry?"

Kilik shook off drowsiness and looked at Daniel with a weak smile.

"Nah. Just tired. Let's get home. I'll make something for us when we get there."

Daniel took a left turn and continued the leisurely drive towards their apartment complex. It wasn't too much longer and they had arrived. Kilik lazily opened his door as the car pulled to a stop. Daniel moved over to Kilik with a chuckle. His mindless stumbling must have been a side effect of his queer prescription. The fox started to fall over his own footpaws but Daniel stepped in the way and caught him. He looked at the delirious vulpine and laughed again. He was asleep!

He hoisted the slumbering fox into the apartment complex and saw the elevator wasn't operational that day. "Wonderful." He said with a sarcastic shake of his head. So his only other option was the tiring, always annoying, staircase. "Hey, it'll be great excercise."

Daniel crossed the lobby area to the stairway door and opened it with extreme care as to not drop his unconcious bundle of love. "30 stairs. Not too bad. It'll be over with in no time." These were the shepherd's words as he started his ascent of the stairs. 30 stairs later, he was exhausted and sweating a little. "Damn this kid is heavy." He exited the stairwell and looked around.

Daniel had forgotten something so he gently shook his adorable parcel and whispered, "Which room?"

"Mmmm...3...2..8..mmmhhhhhhhmmm...."

Daniel made his way around the level and finally found the door. Sliding a hand into Kilik's pocket, he groped for the key. "Aha!" he exclaimed. He clasped the card in his paw firmly and removed it from the confines of the fox's pants. He slid the card into the lock and opened the door and the boy squirmed and whimpered like a new born kit. The older male smiled and walked inside.

The apartment was small enough as it was. Though most wouldn't say that. There was a small area with a couch and a little niche in the wall with a foyer towards the bedroom. Exactly opposite of that was a kitchen. Attached to the living room, yes, but convenient nonetheless. The bathroom was across from the kitchen so if you had forgotten your clothes and didn't want to be seen by any prying eyes, you were shit out of luck. Since the apartment was small, Daniel's personal items cluttered the housing.

The shepherd crossed the room and shifted his lover and rested him on the couch. It was at this time Daniel finally realized how cute and funny sleeping furs could be. The canine leaned forward and laid a gently peck on his carelessly napping mate's forehead. Kilik murred and shifted a little.

Daniel rose and looked around. His clothes were still in his suitcase and his bag had yet to be disturbed. He grabbed both and walked into the bedroom. It was comfortable and the bed topped it all off. The boy stared with a thought, "How long before we share it?"

Daniel allowed himself a smirk as he slipped off his jacket. For the first time that day, he felt girmy and remembered, "I haven't had my shower today." He peeled off his shirt and rolled it into his jacket, which he placed in a bag for room service to pick up. Making his way to the bathroom, he strung up a stream of wonderful thoughts about his mate.

What the shepherd didn't know was that the fox was just as sly as the rumors said his species had learned to be. Kilik had shaken off most of the drowsiness so now he could pull off the illusion of sleep. His eyes were cracked ever so slightly so that he caught a preview of a one fur premier. If Daniel had stood there forever, Kilik would have been content. Blue orbs traced ever muscle that he could see. His abs were cut in such a fine definition that even Leonardo Da Vinci would have marveled at the sight. "Ah, man. Look but no touch rule. Damn it all." Daniel's chest was as strong as they came. Even though no contact was made, Kilik could just feel those warm pecs pressing against his shoulders. His arms are what the fox stared at most. Firm, defined, gentle, loving. Those four characteristics deciphered from just his arms. The energy coming off those furry guns almost had the fox creaming his jeans right there. "Just think," he said to himself, "those arms will hold me forever."

The fox drifted blissfully on the sight of his lover until the bathroom door shut off his eye candy. He whined as he heard Daniel's pants hit the floor. "Oh well. I'll see it sooner or later." He looked around and forced himself into a sitting position and half-way listened to the running shower water. "Mmmmm. Can't wait for that."

The fox saw the bedroom door ajar. He leaned his head to the side and thought, "What is that boy planning?" He rose with a slight groan and walked slowly down the hall to the bedrom, running his paw along the wall for support. He breathed a sigh of fatigue as he propped himself under the threshold of the room. The bed was empty and the drugs were kicking in again. Kilik thrust himself away from the door and landed half-way on the foot of the cushy piece of furniture. Amid grunts and groans, he managed to pull himself all the way into tonight's resting place. He fumbled with the covers and finally immersed himself in the warm fabric. His eyelids felt as though weights were tied to them. As his vision blurred and his eyelids fell, he felt a shadow come over him. "Daniel," he spoke, "please stay with me." His eyes shut but he maintained conciousness. He felt the comforter shift and a body settle next to him. He let himself drift off to sleep with the warmth of his companion's strong body engulfing him.

Kilik landed right on his furry tail. 'Where am I?' His surroundings were that of his hometown. He believed that there was somewhere in Canada like home and apparently, he had found it. He stood and looked around before calling, "Daniel?" There was no reply. No movement. Nothing. He took a step forward and began calling out for his mate again. This went on for what seemed hours.

The fox stood in front of his house before a strange fog began to fall. It was thick and heavy. It began to darken and Kilik ran through the thick, suffocating fog to his front door which dissapated before him and fell into an empty room.

He pulled himself up and found himself surrounded by the cultists again. He opened his mouth to speak but was silenced by a familiary voice.

"Kilik, why aren't you here with us?"

He spun around to see one of the figures remove its hood to reveal his father's worn face.

"I needed to get away."

"Why do you defile what you call yourself?"

He whirled around again to see his best friend Christian remove her hood.

"I can't control what I feel for others."

Kilik's body was no longer his own. The next voice shot all commands that he possible could've used on himself.

"Why did you lie to us?"

He turned slowly to see his mother. Expressionless.

"I thought that was what I had become, but now I know that I'm more than that."

All of the figures started speaking at the same time. The voices became mixed and he turned to every figure only to see those he loved, all the while, losing his sanity and letting his emotions run wild. He looked back to his mother and saw only the back of her robe. Tears welled up and the dam broke as she walked away. He ran after her, calling her, the tears flying off of his face. His siblings stepped in and blocked his path and drew swords. The emotion-wild fox never noticed and his haste created his own demise as the swords pierced through his back. Breath left him. The pain stifled all noise. The blades were withdrawn slowly and he was pushed back into the center of the circle. He eyes became glazed as he collapsed and rolled onto his back. His family stood over him, each drawing his or her own sword. They set them before his bleaching gaze and formed an odd symble. l_l_l His sight became dark and he sighed one last time as he died.

"MOM!" This was the word that brought Daniel from his slumber. He looked to Kilik first and was tackled by the crying fox. The vulpine clung tightly to him. His only source of comfort. The shepherd held his mate warmly, trying his level best to calm him. "It was just a dream. I'm here."

Kilik buried his face into Daniel's chest. "I know but you weren't there and I was surrounded by cultists again. They were my friends and family from home." He started choking up, "Mom abandonded me." Tears matted his light tan fur as they slowly rolled down his face. "Please don't leave me Daniel."

The shepherd madea move to retrieve a glass of water for his lover but changed his mind at Kilik's request. He reposition himself and embraced the shaken fox. He put a paw on the small of his back, just above the belt line. "I'll make you a deal. As long as we can be this close, I'll never leave you." He pulled back some and erased a tear with his thumb. The fox sniffed and nodded. "Deal."

Daniel smiled and pulled Kilik down to the bed. "Let's try and get some sleep."

The shaken fox rolled over so bis back faced Daniel and pressed against him. The shepherd obliged by wrapping his arms around the smaller male and softly began to sing a lullaby. The smooth rythym and tone of Daniel's voice soon had Kilik sleeping.

When I see your smile

Tears run down my face I can't replace

And now that I'm strong I have figured out

How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul

And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.

Seasons are changing

And waves are crashing

And stars are falling all for us

Days grow longer and nights grow shorter

I can show you I'll be the one

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Cuz you're my, you're my, my, my true love, my whole heart

Please don't throw that away

Cuz I'm here for you

Please don't walk away and

Please tell me you'll stay woah, stay woah

Use me as you will

Pull my strings just for a thrill

And I know I'll be okay

Though my skies are turning gray

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven
