His legs began to shake wildly as he moved closer towards the door. He began to feel lightheaded as his hand pushed the door allowing it to swing open. His eyes immediately shut as his heart rate increased in speed. One eye slowly found its way open.

A huge sigh was let out as Finnick was nowhere in sight. Maddox was unsure why he felt so relieved he could not find Finnick, most likely due to the fact that he was probably captured rather then beaten to death. He must have been hurt pretty badly to have left those blood stains.

His eyes began to water again as he ran out of the house nearly full out bawling. He collapsed to his knees and smothered his face in his arms. He was lost without his family. Not once in 5 years had something like this ever occurred. What was he to do? He did have the ability to take care of himself, but what was the use when he would be alone for the rest of his life.

From that point he had his mind set to search for his brother and sister and return home. He knew it was going to be a dangerous journey, but with nothing else to lose, he had to go.

The rest of the day was spent preparing for the journey. Most of the supplies had been destroyed so he packed very lightly. This wasn't terrible since the only bag they had was roughly bigger then a small backpack. He made sure to bring the necessities such as the last canned food he could find, a sleeping bag, and hunting and fire starting equipment.

Maddox had remembered that the man had talked about taking Zephyr to Feros. He had never been there, but he his fantasy of traveling there had caused him to remember it was about 10 miles north. He would be able to make it there in about 2 hours so he decided to spend the night at his torn up camp.

He slept outside that night since the bedroom made him feel uneasy thinking about what went on in there with his brother. Half the night was spent awake fearful of the journey that awaits him.

He awoke shortly before sunrise, gave his place of residence of 5 years one last nod and headed off. Walking through the serene forest helped calm him down, however seeing the place where the man was buried give him a slight shudder.

The forest seemed to last forever, eventually after about an hour of walking Maddox reached a clearing. He had never seen so much open space in his life. The light breeze, the clear blue skies, it was all too much for him. Without even thinking, he burst out into a full sprint into the field swirling and dancing.

The fun soon ended as Maddox fell to the ground in exhaustion. His eyes slowly closed as he fell into one of the most soothing naps he's ever taken. He awoke well rested and with a huge smile on his face. It was about noon and he knew he didn't have much left to go, so once again his journey began.

Another hour passed when Maddox finally caught a glimpse of something. Society, people, communication, more then he could handle. His pace slowed as he approached the city. He was about 10 feet from an alley that led to the streets of the city. As he proceeded, the shadows from the buildings seemed to almost startle him. His heart began to race as he reached the edge, the sounds from the streets now blasting in his ears.

He took his last step, the rays of sunlight hitting his face causing him to squint. It was amazing! Everywhere he looked people were walking and talking. There were mostly humans, but Sothren were around. He had never felt so free to make his own choices and travel wherever he wanted.

He remembered living here, which helped his confidence a little bit, but he was still nervous about the whole ordeal. He began to stroll down the street looking left and right at every building or stand. His eye caught notice of one apothecary merchant. The man noticed Maddox staring at him, gave a look of confusion at first then eased into a smile. The last thing the man did was give a wink before turning his head the other way to help a customer.

Maddox ambled down the street some more before he stopped dead in his tracks. He knew this street. Memories began to flood into his head as he shakily moved ahead. The image of that fateful day at the orphanage pounding in his head. He stopped, his head staring at the ground. He knew he was in front of it. His head slowly tilted upward to find the building, tattered and torn, windows broken, and not a soul in site.
