Lives Intertwined - Part 2

Two weeks after our meeting in the club, Abigail and I were in a full-on relationship. Cuddling, kissing, sharing secrets. Even a few rowdy nights, which I must say I enjoyed a lot.

I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on the door. I stretched, yawned, stood up and pulled a pair of jeans over my boxers.

My room was a rather small three by five metres, with a bed in one corner and a computer set against the adjacent wall. The walls were covered with posters from movies, games and pictures of family. I had one wardrobe and one bedside dresser where my undergarments were kept.

The parcel I'd been expecting was a gift for Abigail, bought with cash I'd scrounged together from anything I could spare from my part time job. It took a bit of time and sacrifice, but I hoped that it was worth it.

I left my room, shutting the door behind myself, just in time to see Mike opening the door. Behind it stood the campus mailman - a cat fur wearing a red t-shirt, red baseball cap and jeans. He held a clipboard in one of his paws.

"Delivery for... James Maska?" He asked, pointing to the large box by his feet.

"Yeah, I'm here!" I jogged across the room, narrowly avoiding a collision with Samantha as she left Mike's bedroom. When I got there, the cat handed me the clipboard and his pen, pointing to an empty field.

"Sign here, please."

I scribbled my signature.

"Thank you." He took the clipboard back and gently pushed the box inside the room with his foot.

Mike allowed me to grab the box and shut the door. No doubt he'd be asking questions.

Sam beat him to it. "What's in there, James?"

My eyes settled on Samantha, her upper body covered by one of Mike's 'The Beatles' shirts. It was too big for her, but put a very nice outline on her front. Still, however beautiful a sight she was, I had Abigail, and I was more than happy with her.

"It's a Birthday gift for Abby. She loves Fallout, so I thought I'd save up and get her a limited edition of New Vegas."

Sam, no stranger to games, nodded in approval. "I heard those are expensive. A very thoughtful gift, James." She turned to Mike. "When are you going to get me something so great?"

Mike blinked. "Uhm..." He trudged over to her and kissed her cheek. "I love you?"

"Pfft. You're lucky I love you so much. Else I might just start dating your roommate." With a wink at me.

I grinned and returned to my room to unpack the cardboard. Under it, the box was wrapped in golden paper. A red birthday card was taped weakly to it, ready to be written inside.

"Go on, open it." I urged. Abby looked a little cautious at first, but settled down and poked a finger in the paper, tearing a chunk off. The Fallout title appeared, making Abigail go quiet. She proceeded to tear the wrapping paper apart, revealing the large black Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition chest.

"Oh. My. God." Abby whispered. She then turned and pounced on me, covering my muzzle with kisses. "I love it! Thank you!" She squee'd.

"You're welcome!" I laughed. Her hands were wandering all over me. And I mean all over.

"I can't decide what to play with first." Abby said, a hint of mischief in her tone.

"Play the game first. Mike and Sam are going out to dinner around nine, then we'll have the dorm to ourselves."

"I can't wait." She murmured, getting off me and sitting down at my desk. With extreme care, she opened the chest and pulled out the game to install it onto the machine.

Four hours in, Abigail was in the middle of exploring a REPCONN facility. I sat on my bed, chin leaning in one cupped paw, observing wordlessly. The thoroughness with which she played was mesmerizing, to say the least. Every nook and cranny was checked, every filing cabinet and desk cleared out of whatever useless junk lay inside.

"You're a bit quiet. Is everything okay?" She paused and swivelled around in the chair to face me.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine." I dropped back on the bed and stretched, joints crackling. "I take it that you like your Birthday present?"

Abby crawled onto the bed with me and hugged. "I love it. But you didn't need to get me anything. All I want is for you to be with me."

"Really?" Our eyes met, staying locked together.

"Yes. You're my big, strong, handsome Husky. How could I possibly want anything - or any_body_ - else?"

I came to a realisation at that point. Abigail had nothing but love for me. Utter devotion and attachment, after only two weeks of dating. What did she see in me? Asking her seemed like a risk, but curiosity was already poking into my back like an annoying shirt tag.

"Out of all the guys you could have dated, why'd you pick me?" I kept my tone neutral to stop Abby from making assumptions. I had no aim in mind - why give her the impression that I did?

"Well... I love Husky furs."

"That's the only reason?"

"No! Of course not!" Abigail looked hurt by my comment.

"Sorry. I'll be quiet." I muttered.

"No, don't be quiet. Talking to you always makes me feel better." She put one hand up my shirts and rubbed my stomach. With canine furs, that's a very obvious weakness. I felt my ears fold down a bit in pleasure. "For a start, you're smarter than everyone I know besides the professors. Heck, smarter than some of them, too."

"Thanks." I whispered, melting into the tummy-scratching.

"You're a great listener. Not like other guys. Every time we talk, all your focus is on me."

"You're an interesting girl who says interesting things." Saying that with a half-shrug.

"That's just not true. I can babble all sorts of nonsense for hours on end. Yet you still listen."

"Why wouldn't I?"

"Because what I say is utterly mind-numbing." Abby didn't let me respond, just went on. "You're always there when I need you, which is more than I can say for my last boyfriend."

"You didn't say anything about a previous relationship."

"And I don't want to. What's important to me right now is forgetting the past and focusing on you." She lifted herself up and kissed me, with heat and passion.

Just then, the door opened. Abigail immediately broke the kiss and looked up.

"Whoops, sorry, didn't mean to disturb you." Mike grinned in embarrassment. "Just came to say that Sam and I are going out now. You've got the place to yourselves."

I gave Mike a nod. "Thanks, mate."

"Any time." He shut the door.

An awkward silence took place for a while. Then;

"So..." Abby booped my nose. "Where were we?"

"Uh... About to have fun?" I guessed

"Just what I wanted to hear." She giggled, going for my belt.
