A Quick Short
Hello everyfur! As I'm currently having a little bit of troupble with my other works, even the between project project that i started, I'm going to post a few one shots that might turn into a bigger story if I get enough intrest or just get bored. this time it's the story of a young tabby who also happens to be a fairly good duellist in the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. I thought it might be fun to play out a duel with a couple of my own decks and then write the story as the duel played out. Even I didn't know what would happen. I do give a brief rundown of many of the cards in the duel, but only those that are activly actually played to the field. enjoy...this short is rated G
The crowds began to roar as the two duel finalists entered the stadium for the final duel of the tournament. Of the two of them, one was a young cat femfur and the other a male teenaged dragon. Both had fought hard to make it this far, but the young tabby knew that this would be her hardest fight yet. Still, she straightened the embroidered Japanese jacket she wore and pulled her deck from a pocket in her silk pants as she approached the duelling arena. She smiled as she thought of her cards, she had a thing for mecha, and being from Japan, mecha and kaiju just went together really well in her own mind so it was only natural that she would run a Machine Deck.
Sakura largely ignored the crowds though, as that wasn't why she was here, instead, she focused on her opponent. She had heard a great deal about this American born dragon, his many business conquests had earned him a great deal of wealth but also the hatred of many of his workers and subordinates , as he was as hard and brutal in the boardroom as he was on the duelling field and almost as heartless. He had a well-founded reputation for ruthlessly crushing his opponents in both settings. If fact, the speed and decisiveness with which he duelled ensured a speedy victory and as a result, much of his deck's true power was an unknown, but it seemed to be some kind of Dragon Deck. The young tabby took a deep breath before studying her opponent.
"So...we finally meet Jason-san, I am looking forward to our coming duel." Sakura bowed in respect to the black-scaled dragon. He was dressed as he normally was when duelling; a long, open front, white leather coat with golden accents over a tight black shirt and pants that showed off his muscular body to its best effect. The only thing to mar his attractiveness was the near permanent sneer he customarily wore.
"A dumb kitten like you made it to the final round of this tournament? I was expecting a challenge, not a cute fest..." Sakura silently bristled at the insult, though outwardly showed nothing. She knew that this was part of the reason that Jason was so frequently victorious, he was an expert at playing head games and getting his opponents to make the moves he wanted, moves that lead to openings he could exploit.
"I respect you as a duellist Jason-san, but I am not so foolish as to fall for your various tricks. We will settle our differences on the field of battle." Sakura activated her dueldisk and stood ready as Jason did the same. "Now, I will show u the power of mecha kaiju, let's duel!"
LP Sakura 4000 / Jason 4000
Sakura drew her five card hand and looked at her cards, smiling faintly as she drew her first card. "I will start with a defence monster, and then play three face downs..." she quickly slipped the cards she wanted into her dueldisk, activating the corresponding holograms to appear on her field. "That will end my turn, but only for the moment..."
Jason also looked at his cards and sneered as he normally did. "After all that talk, I expected more from you, but it seems you're nothing but a third rate duellist who made it this far by sheer luck rather than skill. So I think it's time I put you in your place..." he drew a card. "I'll also throw down two face downs, but I'm summoning my Jain, Lightsword Paladin in attack mode." (LIGHT, lvl 4, ATK 1800 DEF 1200) "Now attack her pathetic monster and open her field..." Sakura grinned a little as her Machina Defender (EARTH, Lvl 4, ATK 1200 Def 1800) was revelled.
"Sorry, but my Defender has 1800 DEF points, and its special ability has been activated by you attacking it, now I can add a Commander Covington from my deck to my hand. In addition, my Defender is safe from your attack." Even as she finished speaking though, her monster was reduced to a pile of scrap by his Paladin's attack. "What? But its attack points are equal to my kaiju's defence points..."
"That just shows what an amateur you really are, otherwise you would have known about my Paladin's special ability that lets it gain 300 ATK points when it launches an attack against my opponent's monsters. More than enough to turn that machine into nothing but spare parts..." (Paladin's ATK now 2100 during Attack Phase due to card effect) Jason pulled two more cards from his deck. "Now that my turn is over, I need to send the top two cards in my deck to the Graveyard due to my Paladin's effect, but I think I've done enough damage to you for now." The dragon actually smirked as he added the two cards to his graveyard.
Sakura gritted her teeth and drew a new card. "I will now call Machina Soldier to my field (EARTH, Lvl 4, ATK 1600 DEF 1500), next I play the Spell, Solidarity. With this card in play, so long as I have only one type of kaiju in my Graveyard, all kaiji of the same type gain 800 ATK points. Which makes my Soldier stronger than your Paladin by a wide margin." (Machina Solder ATK increased to 2400 due to card effect) Sakura allowed herself a moment of satisfaction as Jason's Paladin was destroyed and his Life points took a hit. With an attack as high as it was, her Solder wasn't in that great a danger anymore. "Unfortunately, I can't use my Soldier's summoning effect since I don't have anymore Machina kaiju in my hand, but that is alright. Soldier, attack his Paladin with Mecha Sword Thrust!" Sakura's monster moved quickly to attack Jason's, his paladin attempted to defend itself, but her Machine monster was simply too powerful and strong armed it.
LP 4000 / 3400
Jason scowled and drew a new card. "Well, I'm impressed that you managed to damage me, but your luck is about to end. One of the secrets to being a success in business is knowing how to build your assets quickly. By banishing one DARK monster and one LIGHT monster in my Graveyard from the game, I can Special Summon my Chaos Sorcerer (DARK, Lvl 6, ATK 2300 DEF 2000) from my hand in ATK mode, so I banish the Axe Dragonute and Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress." Sakura took a firmer stance, she knew this monster, and knew how dangerous it could be, but it looked like Jason wasn't done yet. "Next I discard the Prime Material Dragon in my hand to my Graveyard to activate my face down Spell Card, Different Dimension Reincarnation. This will let me bring my Axe Dragonute (DARK, Lvl 4 ATK 2000 DEF 1200) back into the game on my side of the field in ATK mode." Sakura was getting a bit worried, Jason was loading his field up with monsters fairly easily, and he still hadn't normal summoned yet. "Now I'll summon the Herald of Creation (LIGHT, Lvl 4, ATK 1800 DEF 600) in attack mode and activate the effect of my Chaos Sorcerer. Once per turn, he can banish one face up monster on the field from the game, he may not be able to attack in the same turn he uses this effect, but who cares? Now, Chaos Sorcerer, rid the field of her pathetic monster and open the way for the others...to attack her Life Points directly!" Sakura cringed as Jason's Dagonute's and Herald's attacks slammed into her.
LP 200 / 3400
Sakura didn't know what to do, she had monsters that could deal with the kind of fire power that Jason now boasted on his field, but the odds of drawing them...it was almost more than she could take. Still, she bit her lip and drew her next card, almost afraid to look at it. "If this is to be my last card, my last chance to turn this duel around, then so be it. Ancestors on high, guide my paw..." She looked at the card she drew and nodded. "I summon the Kenetic Soldier, and due to Solidarity's effect, he gains 800 ATK points. (EARTH, Lvl 3, ATK 1350 DEF 1800, ATK boosted to 2150 by card effect) I'm also activating a Trap card called Metalmorph to add another 300 ATK points to my kaiju as well as the effect of absorbing half his attack target's ATK points and adding them to his own total. (Kenetic Soldier base ATK now 2450 due to multiple card effects, further boosted to 3600 with Metalmorph secondary effect during Attack Phase) Now, attack Jason-san's Chaos Sorcerer!" Jason grunted as his Sorcerer was wiped out, now he looked pissed.
LP 200 / 2100
"You will pay dearly for that, Cat..." He drew another card. "Now, just like with my Chaos Sorcerer, I can banish one LIGHT and one Dark monster in my Graveyard to special summon and grow my assets even more, so I banish my Paladin and my Sorcerer in my graveyard from the game to Special Summon my Darkflare Dragon in DEF mode. (DARK, Lvl 5, ATK2400 DEF 1200) I'll also switch my other monsters into DEF mode and play the Spell Charge of the Light Brigade. By sending the top three cards of my deck to the Graveyard, I can add one level 4 or lower Lightsworn Monster to my hand from my deck..." Jason smirked again as he was left holding only one card In his hand. "I'll summon this monster to the field in DEF mode" Sakura really didn't like this, Lightsworn Monsters could be tricky. Still, she drew her next card, hoping it would be a game changer. It came up as her Red Gadget so it wasn't, but she had a trump card already in play so she wasn't really that worried.
"Jason-san, I would like to thank you for an entertaining and challenging duel. You are a worthy opponent, and I will remember this day fondly regardless of the outcome. That being said however, I believe it is time for the curtain to fall on this performance, and so I activate my final Trap Card, Ceasefire..." Jason's eyes bulged as the card was reviled.
"Ceasefire?! Impossible! How could you even have that card, let alone know how to use it?!" Sakura smiled shyly.
"In my country, I studied under many great masters, but my greatest of teachers was to be found within the pages of Sun Xu's 'The Art of War', I have found that many situations in the world of duelling mirror these ancient teachings. In this case, the words 'know your enemy and know yourself, and you need not fear the result of a thousand battles'. Your own hand was your undoing Jason-san, and my trap will deal 500 points of damage to you for every effect monster on the field after all face down DEF kaiju are flipped face up, without having flip effects activated I might add. May the Gods and the Ancestors guide you on your way Jason-san." Sakura bowed again as Jason's Life Points dropped to zero. All told, he took 2500 points of damage in her final attack for the five effect monsters on the field, his four and her one monster. As she turned to leave, the crowds exploded into cheers and clapping that followed her out of the arena.
And there we go, a Short to chew on white i get my tail in gear on other writings. I think im going to be a busy dragon for a while. Comments and pointers always welcome and every comment I get will get a reply, as per usual.
