A cloudy Saturday morning, alone...

I sat in the rain today and watched the falling shadows play,

making ripples come and ripples go. Standing water used to show

a reflection of who I am, but rain drops crashed and broke me down.

How can I be sure I'm me when I have no reflection to see?

Here, one thing has held in true...

I sat in the woods last night and I drank in the sick pale light:

waves of icy blue, but only vague reflections of the light of day.

I saw the moon's light is not its own; it cannot exist alone.

No, it would not be without the sun. I am not the only one.

Here, one thing has held in true...

I don't want the morning's rays; I don't need a mirror's pane.

My stellar flame in gracious thought lends me light in the darkest dark,

so my reflection will show clear on some surface, calm and near.

Here, one thing has held in true: I am not here without you.

Here, one thing has held in true: I find myself in you.
