Immortal Season 2 - Chapter 17 - The City of Dis

Pheygulus carried the group further into the swamp. "Guys? What is that?" Katashi looked back at his friends. From the mist, a wall a mile high cut across the swamp. A deep pitted moat of magma separating the great wall from the bog. Steam pouring out as small water falls poured over the edge into the heat. Large horrific gargoyles stood tall over the walls. As gigantic torches blazed along the top. "That is the City of Dis, the ruins of all the destroyed cities of the world," Sayomi narrowed his eyes. "It's where all the demons live," Sora smirked.

Maia shivered as Pheygulus stopped as the edge of the moat and lowered his hand. Setting the group off at the edge of a bridge. Staying silent, he turned and disappeared once again into the swamp. "Thank you!" Maia yelled at the beast as he vanished. "So how do we get inside," Katashi began to walk across the bridge. Fire and ash burst up from the moat as they drew near to the door. Two massive demons stared at them on each side of the door. Narrowing their eyes, they pushed against the wall.

Slowly the two massive doors began to open slowly. Stepping inside the group laid their eyes upon the ruined city. Thousands of builds collapsed on top of one another. Mountains of rubble and different building materials everywhere. Many of the buildings still recognizable. Some of the builds tiny straw huts from the begging of the human civilization. They ranged greatly in size, shape, regional design, and age. Some very recent made of steel and cement. Others early carved stone buildings like in the days of Greece and Rome. The group entered and began to move through the buildings. Demons making homes out of all livable spaces. Small markets around selling all sorts of hellish foods. Human hearts and brains being the main source of meat. Since the demons were ordered to not attack any of them, they wandered off. Maia moved toward the far end of the city in the ruins of a Grecian temple. She stepped in looking up at a great crumbling statue. "Wow it's so massive," She stepped in.

The small dragon rested on her shoulder. It chirped and fluttered up looking over the holes in the statue. Suddenly many little black dragons appeared. These simply a different species. They chirped and examined each other before nuzzling one another. Maia smiled and sat down on the mosaic floor. It was not home but it did feel generally safe here. She heard a soft growl, which made her jump. Looking up she noticed the large three headed hellhound staring at her. At the doorway, he stepped forward and she gulped. Reaching for her knapsack just incase he was here to attack.

He moved up and lay down beside her. All six of his eyes stared up at her as he laid his heads down on the floor. "Hi there," She petted him softly. "Stupid human..." he huffed and she laughed softly. Slowly she scratched behind his ears and his leg shook. "Your just puppy aren't you," She smiled and rubbed his side. He growled and rolled onto his back stretching out.

Sora, Sayomi, and Katashi all explored around a little. This was a relaxed place compared to the rest of hell. Katashi sighed and looked up at the red cloud sky. With a sigh, he groaned and yelled tripping suddenly. With a loud oomph, he hit the ground making the other two laugh. "What hit me?" He looked up and around. The building in this are looked much different yet familiar. It was almost like they had seen them before. They were everywhere like ruins in a forest of junk. "Why do these look so familiar?" Sora touched a wall softly.

"It almost looks like Halo," Sayomi stared up at a ruined temple. Suddenly from a building stepped the succubus from Lust. Sayomi drew his sword and jumped back. She smirked and the others drew their weapons as well. "Put those toys away before you hurt yourselves," She stepped down. "I have no power outside of Lust," She explained and stopped before them. They still didn't trust her and kept their weapons out but sheathed.

"What are these?" Katashi demanded to know. "These are the first ruins to ever come to this city, their the ruins of Atlantis," She turned leading them into them. "Atlantis? But I thought Halo was all that was left," The group followed. Jezebel explained that Halo was the parts of the city spared the destruction. This was all that remained. "What exactly happened to Atlantis?" Sora asked sitting down on an old bench. The others sat down as she sat on a pillar above him. "Hm...I'll tell you what I was told," She looked out over the ruins.

Atlantis was once a great city. It was so great it took over most a giant island in the far Pacific. It was here the first immortals were born and lived. They were born from the two greatest immortals of all time. Yin and Yang, the masters of all. The immortals at this time were nothing more than simple villagers. They worked and kept the balance of the universe. At this time, most of the humans were extremely basic or non-existent. They would come to trade with the immortals and lived in peace. Nevertheless, at this time one immortal wanted more. Eric Konreich was the master of Oblivion. The brother of yin and yang murdered his brothers in their sleep.

In everyone's shock, they couldn't and didn't want to believe that Eric could kill his brothers. However, since the two died at the hands of another they became reincarnated. They were born in Andreas and Ligeron. Their powers were concealed in the two younglings but their minds and memories were lost. They couldn't point out there murderer. Eric soon discovered that they could only die if they destroyed one another. So later in their lives while the two trained at the great temple Eric appeared.

"You know how pathetic Ligeron is, does he truly deserve to have you?" The white mouse whispered to Andreas. "No, he's...not," Andreas looked away. "Look at the far oaf, He's a danger to everyone and anyone," The mouse spoke to Ligeron. Sowing the seeds of deceit two to began to yell. Their yelling soon moved to arguing, and from their it grew into a fight. They attacked one another their energies flaring out at full strength. Their parents rushed to see what had happened. With one attack, they destroyed their own parents and the original temple. The pieces flying off into the city.

All of the immortal screaming as the two being rose into the sky. Light and darkness warping around one another lashing out. Sparks of energy firing off destroying buildings and streets. Eric watched the two attack and fight as the sky grew dark. The sea and island groaned and thrashed about in their anger. Many of the immortals rushed to the harbor getting onto ships. Parents handing their children to the people on the ships in hopes of saving them.

As the two fought, the original commanders rushed to save the temple and other landmarks. Creating walls using all their energy they protected the great workshops, hospitals, and prisons. Suddenly two white wolf brother and sister to Luna jumped into the sky. Rushing toward their lords they hoped to stop the fighting. Suddenly Eric appeared before them and with a flick of his hand, the first let out a howl. He fell form the sky cut in half by the blast of energy. The stronger of the two rushing forward creating a storm of sword around himself. "Stupid bitch," Eric whispered and held up his hand.

The wolf whined and began to fall suddenly. His body dissolving away as he plummeted to the ground. Seeing this Andreas and Ligeron broke the spell of distrust with their love of their people. Knowing they couldn't save their rave, they knew they had to stop the rogue. Locking their hands together, they raises their opposing hands. Forcing all their energy into their palms, they made a orb of energy so great it rivaled the sun. The boats full of immortals far from shore watched in horror as the sun became darkened by comparison. With one shot, they fired the orb down into the mouse him trying to hold it back. Both of his hands up being torn away as he plummeted down.

With a yell, the orb made contact with the ground and a silent flash let out. The boats watched as the sky parted and the island was incinerated instantly. A pillar of smoke rose form where the island once stood. From this pillar two streams of smoke blasted from each side flying in opposite directions. Andreas and Ligeron were cast far from their homeland to opposite's side of the world.

The immortals hid themselves amongst the humans as they recreated their version of their homeland. The made it far from earth in a different dimension just opposite of the human world. Andreas and Ligeron woke far form home in the immortal realms. They searched for one another for centuries. Humans were still young when they both gave up hope. Ligeron stopped on a great mountain and allied himself with the angels. The angels worshipped him and built a place of ultimate forgiveness around him. For that was all Ligeron wanted to do, forgive his mate and himself so they could be happy again. Andreas on the other hand stopped in the black lands of the demons. In fear of him, they did as he ordered and dug him a great pit. A pit so deep he could never enjoy the sun again. A pit of pure punishment for those who did wrong. Andreas put himself at the bottom of this pit punishing himself. He hated himself for attacking and to his knowledge killing his mate.

This was how it was until great years of the pharaohs in Egypt. Then something amazing happened. An angel and demon crossed paths and spoke to one another of their lords. With a bit of hope Ligeron traveled to the bottom of the pit and found his mate. In ecstasy, the two were rejoined once again. Their passion lasted for years, as they never wanted to leave one another. The two left their new domains to rule from afar. They stumbled upon the small few rings of Halo and saw potential. From there they began Halo ruling it as they ruled Heaven and Hell.

The hunters originated about this time as well. As religions were beginning to pop up across the world, they clashed. The few that knew of truth about the immortals set out to destroy them. Seeing them as heretics and false gods. Their hatred spread to others and soon the hunters were born. Ruled by the great being who hated the immortals most of all. Vampires, Necromancers, Dragon Hunters, Apostles, etc. all with the immortals dead.

"And the rest is history," She looked at the group. They stared at her caught up in the story. "Wow so you mean...Master Ligeorn and Commander Andreas actually destroyed their home," Sora stared down. Katashi shook slightly knowing he had to face half of that power. Sayomi stood and walked away leaving the group. He stood on a hill looking out over the much smaller pit before him. He could now see the other side of the pit it only a few miles across but still immense.

A few hours passed and Katashi stood on the edge of the pit looking down. Raising his sword, his stared at it and sighed. "Yansei!" He ordered and nothing happened. With a growl, he shook his sword in anger. "Why won't you listen to me! Why won't you say something!" He yelled at the lifeless object. A Yansei is the strongest form of anyone's Yoso and power. If he could unlock his he could at least stand a chance against Andreas. He closed his eyes remembering Commander Luna's Yansei. The great blizzard the covered almost all of halo and stopped Maia from damage the hospital. Such power, even if none of it was aggressive.

Behind him, a few hellish creatures slipped from the rubble. Sliding over to him the hissed and drooled in hunger. Katashi turned and gasped almost falling back into the pit. Raising his sword the first jumped at him and he slashed across its chest. Keeping his composure, another jumped at him and he cut across it as well. More poured from their nest in the rubble and moved toward him. "Damn how many of you are there...maybe," He looked up, holding out his sword he concentrated. "Yansei!" He ordered and still nothing happened.

He growled as a few more pounced at him and he raised his sword. It began to glow warping with black and white energy. Tossing his hands forward he let out a slash of energy. The slash cut deep into the rubble destroying the beasts nest. In fear, the other ran and disappeared amongst the ruins. He sweated and his chest heaved with his breaths. Letting his sword vanish his friends stepped up. "You ready?" Sayomi motioned to the small Elevator into the pit. With a nod, the group moved to the elevator being watched by both of the hell wardens. "Do you think they'll survive?" Cerberus growled. "Nope I think they're all gonna die," Jezebel turned and vanished.

Meanwhile back on Halo the select commanders prepared to leave to Hell. Juan stood on his perch overlooking his ring. "Master I am ready," Kanta bowed from the balcony below. Juan opened his great black wings and with a single flap took off into the sky. Gliding down along his tower, his waved around bridges and walkways. Turning his wings slightly his entire body turned and he glided out along the water. His large talons glancing along the waters top softly.

Juan turned back towards the city. Artemis stood with Un at her side in a great garden full of cherry blossoms. Cerce and Yoko stood behind them with umbrella blocking Yoko's master form the sun. Terra smiled next to them with Ishi sighing at his side. With a wave of Artemis' hand, the blossoms all fell quickly. They shifted and wisped under everybody's feet lifting them up slowly. Kanta jumped down onto the cloud of pink petals as Juan moved behind it. Flying ahead, he used his mastery of the wind to force the petals to follow him. The group set out towards hell as Ligeron watched from his balcony.

Salamander sat at his side softly inhaling from his hookah. "Come sit down darling, I'm sure they'll all be fine," Salamander blew out some smoke. Ligeron moved back and sat down at his desk. "We've doubled the guard right?" He looked at his red lizard brother. "Of course, don't fret we have everything under control," Salamander reassured him. With a sigh, Ligeron leaned back against the chair. He didn't like having his love so far away let alone half the Commanders.
