Finally the otters are able to play a game without any interference. The playful game causes Rye's emotions to overwhelm him, making him move before he can think the action over.

Normally when walking to the pool, their conversations were light and in a joking manner but while Rye and Cloud walked toward the pool, the excitement about the midnight swim alone was easy to detect. Walking at a faster than normal pace, Rye was soon enough reaching over the counter to press the button that unlocked the door leading to the lockers.

"I still can't believe they gave you your own set of keys to this place," Cloud said, watching Rye unlock the locker rooms that the two of them had to pass through to get to the pool.

Only answering with a grin, Rye led Cloud through the locker rooms. Quickly, Rye unlocked the storage room and he pulled out two laser guns, which always looked like real military issued assault rifles. He handed one to Cloud. After turning the screen on the side of the gun on, Rye flipped through the settings for the pool until he found his favorite and the most-used setting: the coral ship-graveyard. The same setting that they had their first game in.

"We're going to use the whole pool," Rye said and clicked a button on his gun. Holograms of ships and coral reefs started to shine one by one around the entire pool. Of course, a password was needed to activate this game. "We'll throw in a few sharks too. If they attack you, you'll glow white which makes it easier for me to see you. Get too damaged by one, you lose."

"Okay," Cloud said looking at the holograms appearing all around the pool, and then the distance of the pool. "You go to the far end."

"Fine," Rye laughed and closed the holographic screen on the gun. "I'll fire a 'signal flare' into the air to start the game."

"See you soon," Cloud smirked.

Both of them went separate ways toward the opposite ends of the pool. Since Rye had to go further, it took him nearly eight minutes to reach the far end. Aiming his gun in the air, Rye pulled the trigger and a single bright flare shot into the air, and then he switched the laser gun back to normal mode.

Before the white light could static up and disappear, Rye dove into the pool. The light from the holograms didn't radiate much light which left the pool mainly lit by the moonlight. Shadows were formed when the light failed to penetrate the holograms though, which caused the pool to be even darker.

Rye kept his eyes open, searching for Cloud in the dim light as he swam toward pool end that Cloud dove in. Several minutes went by with no noise and no sign of Cloud; only sharks and ruined ships were seen. Finally, Rye heard the sound of Cloud breaking surface to take a breath, but he couldn't tell where it was from.

At that moment, Rye chose to catch his breath too. He broke the surface, inhaled and dove back toward the cover of a ship. Expecting to see Cloud come toward the noise, Rye didn't move as he looked around the area. Cloud didn't come though.

Nearly a second later, a shark decided to attack Rye. Rye swam out of the way, turned and brought the butt of his gun down on the shark's head. The hologram shuttered as if it was really hit and then swam away. Rye didn't look after it much longer.

He must be near the shallower end, Rye thought, and then started to swim toward the shallower parts of the pool. Another fifteen minutes went by of searching with no hope until Rye finally saw Cloud, only a glimpse of him as he swam behind a coral reef and into a ship. Rye followed, careful not to make too much noise.

Rye ducked around the ship's hull and looked in to see Cloud swimming toward the surface. Only if Rye was glowing red would he be allowed to go through the hologram but instead he was able to press his back firmly against the hologram.

He doesn't know I'm here, Rye thought. Perfect.

Changing his plan, Rye swam parallel to the exterior of the ship's hull toward the surface. He waited just below the surface until he heard Cloud come up for air, and then Rye climbed the exterior of the ship out of the water. Waiting at the top of the ship out of the water, Rye listened to Cloud's breathing and waited for him to go back in the water. No more than a couple seconds later, Cloud did dive back in the water and Rye waited on the edge of the ship for Cloud to come out of the hull.

The moment Rye saw a white object swim out of the ship, the blue otter dove gracefully in the water. Swimming as fast as he could, he tackled Cloud just as he turned around to see Rye coming at him. First taken by surprise, Cloud didn't react but he quickly recovered and was able to grab Rye's paw and pin it to his chest. Rye didn't give up and they wrestled for control.

They both dropped their guns in their wrestle match to gain control drifting slower to the bottom of the pool. Somehow, Cloud gained the advantage and pinned Rye to the floor by sitting on his stomach and holding his paws over his head, in a very suggestible position. Rye smiled at Cloud, almost too-friendly.

Cloud leaned closer to Rye and smirked at him, claiming his victory. Rye's smile disappeared as he felt electricity shiver through his body. Rye's next action was out of his control. Before he knew what he was doing, Rye, blushing heavily, leaned up to Cloud and kissed him lightly on the lips. Another surge of electricity went through Rye's body, speeding up his heart rate.

Shocked, Cloud leaned a bit further away from Rye. Rye's heart started to beat unevenly fearing that he made a mistake and his cheeks grew hotter. But Cloud's shocked expression turned into a smile and he leaned back toward Rye and returned the kiss on Rye's lips.

With Cloud massaging Rye's lips with his own, Rye felt the white otter slide his tongue into Rye's maw. Cloud's saliva tasted sweet to Rye, but subtle, like the taste of an apple, which made the otter eager to taste more sweetness. Lightly suckling on Cloud's tongue, Rye noticed Cloud release his paws from their pinned position. They mirrored each other's movements by wrapping their arms around one another, and squeezing tightly.

Rye didn't stop himself this time as he felt electricity go through his entire body, making his heart beat three times faster than normal. This is what Rye wanted since the moment he laid his eyes on Cloud and it made his head swim with excitement, even more so when he felt Cloud's long tongue nearly to the back of Rye's throat.

Euphoria is the only way to describe how Rye felt, especially because Cloud was just as enthusiastic about the kiss as Rye was. He didn't know what to think or how to react, but he continued to kiss Cloud at the bottom of the pool lit dimly by the moonlight.

Their kiss only lasted a few seconds before Rye broke the kiss, realizing that the holograms were disappearing. Cloud looked up, but his arms were still wrapped tight around Rye, and his face turned into a disappointed and shocked expression.

Rye looked up too, but he also didn't let go of Cloud, and saw what Cloud saw. A black figure stood at the edge of the pool, looking down at the two of them. The figure was near invisible against the black sky and shimmering water but the reflective eyes pierced through the water. Cloud and Rye looked at each other then let go of each other, both feeling irritated about the interruption.

Cloud pushed off the floor and swam toward the surface. After gathering the two guns that they dropped, Rye followed not far behind Cloud.

They broke the surface at the same time and climbed out of the pool, avoiding eye contact with the piercing eyes.

"Rye," the black figure said. The tone was as if a mother was trying to explain to her child what they did wrong. "You know how much electricity those holograms use up, and you had the whole pool lit up."

"I know Ryan," Rye said apologetically. "I'm sorry. You can take the extra cost out of my check."

"You know I won't do that, but just put the guns away and go home," Ryan ordered. Whether the manager knew or not what Rye and Cloud were doing at the bottom of the pool, Rye didn't know.

"Right away," Rye took the guns and put them back in the storage room. Cloud stayed close behind him but so did the manager.

"You two should shower," Ryan suggested. "I'm going home though so just lock up when you leave."

"Okay."

Ryan left through a back gate while Cloud and Rye headed toward the locker room. Rye turned on a shower in the far corner and had it spray against the wall and he sat down in the stream of water with his back resting against the tile wall that the water was streaming off of. Cloud sat next to him, smiling.

"I didn't know you actually felt that way towards me," Cloud finally said with overflowing happiness after a long silent pause.

"Um, yeah," Rye said chuckling nervously. His heart felt heavy but light at the same time. "Sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

Cloud put his arm around Rye's shoulders and leaned closer to him with his grin growing. "You don't need to apologize."

Rye and Cloud sat in the water letting it rinse them off for another minute, just enjoying each other's presence, before Cloud got up and led Rye toward the exit. Painted on Rye's face was a grin.

Rye locked the locker room and lobby up before they left and started walking back to Rye's apartment. Again making the first move; Rye put his arm around Cloud's waist as they walked down the street but soon Cloud put his arm around Rye's waist too. They still didn't speak until they reached Rye's apartment and he led Cloud in, finally letting go of his waist.

"I hope you won't mind if I stay over again," Cloud said with a similar grin as Rye's. It was obvious that he already knew the answer.

"Not at all," Rye replied with enthusiasm. "Please stay."

"Okay. Where should I sleep?" Cloud eyed the couch and the bedroom.

"With me of course," Rye couldn't hold down his giggles. Without turning the lights on, Rye went into his room followed by Cloud. Rye started to prepare his bed to sleep in.

"Do you think we should change out of these swimming trunks first?" Cloud asked.

"You can slip into something more comfortable if you want."

Cloud slipped off his shorts right in front of Rye who looked away even though it was dark. His eyes were adjusted to the dim light well-enough to see Cloud in the dark. "I hope you don't mind but I still find it weird wearing your underwear."

Rye laughed and slipped off his own shorts and crawled into bed naked. "That's fine with me." Rye waited for Cloud.

Cloud smiled and lied down on the bed, getting comfortable and Rye soon wrapped his arms around Cloud, who returned the favor. Tired from the day, it didn't take long for the two otters to fall asleep soundly in the night.
