A recent short-short from the perspective of my eponymous character.

It rained the day I met Kagami. The sky didn't weep -- the rain was a symphony; the rain was a caress; the rain was a promise, whispered, half-forgotten. I didn't shrink from the rain; I was in my element, and soon indoors.

Imagine the club: comfortable, Victorian, staid fire crackling, soft velvet and the gleam of the polished wood bar driving away the seasonal chill. A refined salon with dark undertones. My favorite haunt.

Imagine Kagami: vixen white as frost, erect against the wall, silent, emotions wound spring-taut. My opposite: myobu, celestial, her many tails a diffident banner. Waterfall of silver hair. Heterochromia. Elegant dress. Porcelain-delicate, with cracks running already through. Something in me enjoys shattering fragile things. I am, after all, a creature of chaos.

I wanted her immediately.

I'm accustomed to acquiring what I want. I drew her in with my eyes, the flash of silver on the sea of chaos. I drew her with my fingers, caresses light yet warm, nimble as a scalpel. With my tongue, a bouquet of words. With my lips, and then my teeth. Not sex, no -- that came later, that was incidental. Before then, she was mine.

Unexpectedly, it cost me myself. If my chaos infected her, her calm returned the favor. A fair price, gladly given.

It's raining today, and the rain is a heartbeat; the rain is an inhalation; the rain is a lacuna. Soon my storms will meet her mountain waters again. I count the hours.
