A concept story i wrote up this morning. Another one of my "From a dream" things.

Let me know what you think. Should i continue this or let it go.

If it gets a good review, i think i will be putting it and a few other stories together in a portfolio that paying customers can read for 10$ a month or something.

Synopsis: Brigand and Charlie have made many small discoveries in their short lifetimes, but a new cave has drawn their attention. Inside is a new adventure, a new set of mysteries. However, not everything should be rediscovered. Somethings are better left, locked away in the minds of young boys playing on the farms. In this cave lies a long forgotten secret, and also the future of the young adventurers. This cave is only the beginning of the greatest adventure in Brigand and Charlie's lives!

Prologue: Brigand slowly pulled at the rusty latch. Bubbles floated up past his eye as the latch stayed put and he grunted a little. Setting his foot against the rock beneath the wooden door, he put his full strength against the latch. A soft screeching sound came as the rust began to crack and scrape. With one final jerk, Brigand wrenched the latch up and the door out, opening a small dimly lit side cavern. Letting go of the latch, he pushed off of the slimy stones and quickly swam back up along the wall to the surface of the cavern lake. As he broke the surface, Charlie waved at him from a few meters away. "Brig! Come here and look at this!" Charlie shouted excitedly, his voice reverberating off of the cavern walls wildly. He was pointing down to the right of the door that Brigand had just managed to open, about seventy meters over. Brigand swam over slowly, catching his breath and thinking about that smaller cavern through the door. When he reached Charlie, he followed where his friend was pointing and peered off into the waters. Nothing became apparent imediately. "Duck under the water and look over there." Charlie explained and then demonstrated. So Brigand followed suit and sank under the water, letting his eye's adjust again to the cool fluid. In the darkness, he could make out Charlie's arm pointing again. Following it, he looked out into the floor of the lake. There, sprawled across the cavern floor, was a giant man, in armor. Brigand could only see his legs and lower abdomen. The giant wore massive sandals suitable for warriors of a bygone time, immense grieves surrounded his lower legs. Next to him lay a sword that was so large, it could cleave a great oak like so many overgrown weeds. Brigand and Charlie both surfaced and their excitement bubbled over. What was this gigantic creature they had found? Was it really a creature, or was it merely a massive statue left by some unknown race long ago? What was its purpose? The two friends gasped for breath as they posed question after question to one another. Finally they decided that they should investigate to alleviate some of their curiousity. Pulling their floating lantern behind them, they swam closer to the giant. The water grew colder the closer they got. Suddenly they ran into something. "Why can't we go any further?" Brigand asked outloud. Reaching out, he touched what felt like a frozen waterfall, even though he could not see anything. His hand quickly started to become numb. Charlie only shook his head in wonderment. Neither of them had seen real magic aside from a few enchanted trinkets that the traveling entertainers brought now and then, but those usually only did something like bounce perpetually or change colors. This was real magic. Shivering, Charlie requested, "Lets go back and warm up, then we can think about this." Brigand nodded and followed him back to the lake's shore. "What was this place..." He thought to himself. It contained magic, and something someone obviously didn't want shared. "What happened here..."
