This is part one of a series of stories. A female in late term meets a male with young of his own. She has no mate and his mate died. This is how they fell in love. If you are wondering the setting is the region from "The extinction of humanity" series. The supplements can provide a better understanding of the region.

Deep int the Five Temple Region the city of Clovis was a mixed city of humans and pokémon. This was an uncommon city for the region. A persian late term was scrounging for food in a trash can. Her trainer abandoned her after she was showing signs of pregnancy. She was alone, and starving. She was trying to be quiet as a male umbreon walked past with three vulpix's and one eevee fallowing him. She thought, "Where is the mother they are only a couple weeks' old?" She became dizzy and fell next to the trash can making a noise. The umbreon came over and asked, "Are you all right and where is your mate?" She replied, "I do not have one I was drunk when it happened. Then my trainer left me." She began to cry. "I lost mine two days age from random gunfire. I cannot help you find your mate. I have four mouths to feed and I have not slept in days." He said and began to walk away. "Waite, I can watch them, and you sleep, just take me to your den and let me stay for two days." She pleaded. He stopped and thought for a minute. "After two days we separate, is that clear?" "It is." She replied. He guided her to his den. It was a huge abandoned factory, Three stories and many out buildings. She watched his kids as he slept. For hours it was peaceful until he woke up to screaming. He was concerned for his young and ran to the sound. The persian was giving birth. She had a litter of six kittens, four meowth's and two perrloin's. She looked worried as he came to her and said, "It is now two weeks then leave." She was relieved two weeks and they could travel and see. Then, he licked her face, and he was falling for her. All the young saw her as a mother and wanted her to stay. She asked some question to the umbreon. She first asked, "Can I stay here in one of the out building and then, we can be safer than alone." He thought and replied, "You can but, do not invite others. The more who live here means there are more fights and humans; they like to capture us in poké balls around here. The rest of the region does not do that. Many trainers who enter the league are from other regions." "What is your name? Mine is Susan." She asked "It is Gordon." He replied.
She had a small outbuilding and there was plenty of trees and bushes for food but, clean water was valuable and hard to find. Susan and Gordon would stroll around and mark territory. Over the next couple months their children saw her as their mother and would play together. The area was safe from others and humans. It was a full moon when Gordon asked her, "Stay with me, we are not mates but, we could be?" She blushed and replied, "Gordon, you are my best friend. I would love to stay under the same roof." She began to cuddle with him. She looked down and was seeing a poochyena with a vulpix and commented, "They look like a good pair. I think it is about time for her to leave on her own life." Her kittens had mates or humans. That was the last of their mixed family to leave them. Winter was approaching there was enough food for the two of them to survive. Gordon loved the night, and the two would hunt in the streets and meet friends. Their friends thought they were in love. They thought they would mate soon but when they found out Susan gave birth to live young and did not push it any further. Susan said something strange, "Gordon, have you ever had a trainer?" He looked depressed, "I had two. My second trainer had a gorgeous ninetales. It took months for us to mate and then, she died from a gunshot." He started to cry. "I know you miss her, but I was thinking we could have a litter this year?" She said. He looked at her, "You really mean it?" She replied, "I do." She was not in season yet but knew a park with a very romantic view. She asked Gordon, "What happened to your human?" He began to tell his story. "I was a young eevee when I met my first human. I was a house pet for her and she loved me. She had a male mate who she was dating he hated me, and he hurt me every chance he got. She saw blouses and did not know the cause. I was at an opera when I evolved backstage. I was with her and she was going to keep me. He hated me even more and tried to throw me out in the streets. She found me and brought me home. I bit him and he threw me against the wall and emitted he hated me. She left him and tried to heal me, but I was afraid he would return. She gave me to a new human who was entering a battle league. That is when I saw and met the gorgeous ninetales. The trainer got caught up in drugs and overdosed. She was with kits it took months for us to mate and she died from a gunshot. Our kits were sleeping and I saw her die. I had to take care of them alone and I never was a parent. They you came along and I learned." Susan felt uncomfortable from the story. She decided to tell her story. "My trainer was a painter and loved to paint me. He was getting old and gave me to a student. She saw me as a tool and I felt lonely. She was an alcoholic and I was really hungry. I missed my first human and began to drink to handle the loss. I was in heat and got drunk. That is when I became pregnant. I could hide it for a couple of weeks, but she found out and left me in the streets. I survived by scavenging. I now know the father was my neighbors' liepard. I know you miss her but we can have a litter together." They slept together in the main building that night. Gordon was thinking a lot that night and the next morning he asked Susan, "Do you want to try a test run before you are ready?" She looked confused, "Are you trying to tease me or see how good I am?" He replied, "Both." He grinned and said, "No I just wanted to tease you and see your face. I was thinking of going to a play tonight. Do you want to come with me?" "Your human must have been rich." She said sarcastically. He replied, "No, she worked there."
Susan came to the play. Gordon's first human saw him and he saw her. She thought he was dead, and then greeted him. She said, "You have a friend with you I hope, you two are happy. I live in a place that does not allow pokémon, I cannot bring you two home." Then she got them some food to enjoy the show on the upper level used for storage and the lights.
