A Word From The Author,
This story was originally started in 2008, when I began writing a background history for a character in a Dungeons and Dragons game that a friend was hosting. It was supposed to be a simple few paragraphs, but (as I do with many of my projects) I wound up going a bit overboard, turning it into a short story of sorts.
The intent was, as I recall, to continue writing the story to keep track of what happened in the game. Sadly, the game fell apart, as most do, because of scheduling conflicts. The story was left sitting on my computer for several years.
I rediscovered this story sitting on my computer in the summer of 2011. A great wealth of time on my hands resulted in my decision to attempt to turn this into an actual novel of sorts. Over the past six months, I've been taking the story to a professional editor, which I believe has changed the story for the better. As one of my friends put it "I'd have originally listed it as Young Adult Fiction. Now it's Fantasy."
This is my first novel, and it most definitely shows it. Hopefully my readers will be willing to overlook (or even better, to notify me of) any mistakes or inconsistencies that I may have overlooked while writing and proofing this story.
I'll be posting chapters of this story as my editor finally approves them. We took a good four months going through the first five chapters, and I had to rewrite them several times. Now, we usually only get through about one chapter a week. I hope to finish it sometime in the next three months.
