This is a revamp and reworking of a story I did over five years ago when I was a lot younger, I was amazed to how far I have come when I compare it to the older version.

I'm going to be leaving the older version up for nostalgia reasons and if the mood so takes any of the readers they can go read the older one and see the changes to writing, and maturity.

Chapter 1: A fateful day

It was the breaking of dawn just as the sun rose over the precipice of the steeping canyon walls the sunlight slowly blanketing the shadows cast by the receeding night, easing the image of a large forested area into sight and glistening the leaves and grass with morning dew. Few things stirred at this hour as the sun crept up the side of a white peaked mountain further into the canyon, its great shadow shortening to make a small clearing on the forest distinctly visible. It sat there as though a scar in the undergrowth a marking the direct centre of the vast greenland.

Further down at ground level in the clearing it was still partly impossible to see as the large fir and beach trees cast long shadows, only thin beams of light were able to break through the low lying canopy; these shed some light on some of the more defined features. A small fresh water stream trickled through here, washing over the smoothing pebbles underneath; these were traced easily as the ripples of small fish drew some small attention to it.

The silence was broken by chirping as a tiny bird hoped down into the clearing, it appeared to be a Pidgey. This small Pokemon started pecking around at the woodland floor, turning up small twigs and leaves in hopes of finding food, it continued its work completely oblivious to the fact it was being observed, but the sound of shuffling feet broke its concentration and shoot up its head now aware it was not alone. It Quirked its head to one side as if considering what could be beyond the bushes that formed what looked like a natural barrier around the clearing. The Pidgey shot up into a nearby fir tree as the other presence entered the opening, it sat on the branch surveying this newcomer with an obsession.

The figure was actually quite large, and the Pidgey was surprised at how something with such a large body mass could have had the guile to approach unnoticed. It was largely silhouetted as it had entered with the beams of light on his back, it took a step forward and entered one of the larger thicker beams to reveal to some extent his identity. His large outline was due to the fact he had a large shell, the back of which shone with light dancing off it, his blue slightly scaled skin covered his face hands and legs which in some respects could be considered stumpy. This aside he was well built his arms and legs were over averagely toned, defining some good features about him, he stood about twelve feet tall, easily able to reach where the small bird Pokemon was now perched, his face was clearly visible, although it was expected to look gruff and in tune with the rest of his body, it seemed the be the entire opposite on all fronts, it was a gentle face that showed a degree of soothing compassion, but also slightly stern in the manner a father would be with a disobdient child, it took another few steps forward to where the Pidgey had been and chuckled to itself in a low tone.

"Heh, sorry little guy, didn't mean to startle you."

His voice was clear and masculine, this was unusual to most Pokemon as they were most likely either, very high pitched, or very deep voiced with some kind of slurr of speech impairment. He was a special one, his voice was in the middle and was as clear as ice water.

The only response was that the bird Pokemon tilted its head to the side before fluttering away.

"Holy crap, didn't know I was so ugly....HA!"

When the Pidgey was clearly out of sight the large shelled Pokemon looked around, he eyed all the clear features of the clearing the lazy morning sun, the small stream and the cluster of rock at the rockish boulders at where the stream met the bushes, and the stream seemed to end.

He slowly shuffled over to these rocks, brushing a hand over one of the rough surfaces feeling a thin layer of cushion like moss covering it like a sheet; he turned abruptly and sat down on his front.

"Yeah.... this seems like a good spot" His eyes grew weary as he opening his mouth into a yawn "gotta see if I... can rest... my..."

He failed to complete his sentence as he receded into his shell, first pulling in his legs then his head and arms. It was not long before the slow sounds of his light breathing could faintly be heard, and as he slept his shell sank slightly into the mud of the streams banks, this made him look not to unlike a rock, and without knowing and so meaning to he had become camouflaged.

He slept through until almost midday undisturbed, and when he did finally realize he was awake he did not wake of his own accord.

The actual reason for his disturbance was he had heard the crushing of nearby undergrowth by foot, and the murmured voice of a presence close by. He blinked lazily a few times to restore his slightly blurred vision and opened his mouth wide to yawn silently, then he extended his neck outwards by a few inches to investigate the cause of his awaking. His head only barley out of his shell when his eyes grew wide and his heart rate increased, because what he saw was not some small bug Pokemon like he had suspected, no this seemed to be a fully grown Charizard! It was literally in the bush directly next to him, and seemed to be staring straight at him, but not acknowledging him and this got him thinking.

"Why doesn't she see me? I'm right in front of her." More though pouring into his mind and he quickly became nervous.

"Shit! What if she sees me, she obviously hasn't already." He did consider whether or not to reveal himself in an attempt to run, or to stay still and hope she didn't discover him. But at this particular time luck seemed to not be on his side, because the sound of beating wings and a soft thud to his other side suggested that someone else had arrived.

Slowly he craned his neck around to see if his fears were true, and snapped his neck back into his shell.

"Aww crap, another Charizard, my luck cannot be this bad" his head was strained he couldn't possibly run now he was sure to be discovered... and maybe caught. A horrible thought crossed his mind. 'Have they been captured!?! Is there a human near by to?!?'

As his thoughts continued his ears picked up the voice of this newcomer, unlike the first but definatly female, this one had a deeper voice that sounded a bit agitated.

The most recently arrived Charizard placed both her hands on her hips and let out a huff "Aww nuts... Where the hell is she?"

The young Blastoise was now on the brink of panic, if he stayed where he was he would definitely be discovered sooner or later if they did not move on, still though making a break for it was out of the question, as fast as he was they could surely out fly him if they wished to give chase.

His heart skipped a beat, the second Charizard had just walked up to him and started studying the formation of 'boulders'. He drew in his breath and readied himself for the worst, but thankfully his luck wasn't that bad, the Charizard shrugged turned on the spot and took a run into a fly, flying over the tree tops with a heading to the east.

The Blastoise Heaved a deep sigh of relief, the Charizard still present in the bushes next to him playfully giggled and revealed herself from her hiding place.

"It should be easy enough to run now, if I can startle her...maybe make her fall over..." But again he was wrong, for as he was plotting his escape the first 'Zard' had dreamily walked over to where he was, and without realising what he really was sat on him, mistaking him for a boulder!

Now two things happened on this fateful day, which the Blastoise really did not want to occur, as she sat on him he sank further into the soft mud causing some of the thick muck to seep into his mouth making him hack and cough, thus also causing a reaction for him to move away from the mud with a suffling movement. As he did, she leapt up her voice quaking as she let out a decisive 'eep!' She stepped back a look of fear on he face.

"W-w-who's there?" she inquired in a voice little above a whisper.

The Blastoise silently cursed himself for becoming startled by such a trivial thing, and to something that he had deemed part of his element aswell! He saw no point in concealing himself any longer, he had already lost the element of surprise anyway, so trying to run was out of the question. With a nervous groan and little effort he fully produced his arms, legs and head out of his shell, his ascent was long and slow as his muscles were still stiff from his sleep, finally he stood tall his full twelve feet easily towering high above the oppsing being in the clearing, the small amounts of mud that had gathered falling off his shell.

The female gasped taking another step back at seeing this twelve foot tall, muscular Blastoise rise up as if out of nowhere.

"Oh god, where did he come from? He... he's so huge, he's kinda cute.... Oh crap where did that come from!?" As she mentally scolded herself the look on confusal was easily readable upon her face.

"Err...Hmm... Well hi there" said the water type as he bicked up some courage "well... Isn't this embarrassing?"

This is the first time he actually saw her fully in the light, how it shimmered on her and made her skin appear to shine, her figure was perfect for a Charizard with her femmine curves complementing her further, and her deep crystal eyes adding to a now increasing sense innocence. He didn't admit it there and then but...

She was gorgeous.

As his eyes travelled further down her body, she noticed, and blushed a deep shade of red covering her face with her wing to hide her embarrassment. The Blastoise ashamed of being seen 'checking her out' turned a shade of purple, this faded quickly as his ears stood up twitching, his pupils shrank, he broke into a flat out sprint straight towards the female.

This shocking action took her aback, she was being charged straight at by this fully grown muscular Blastoise, at an astonishing speed. Though her surprise quickly turned to annoyance as she was roughly thrown aside onto the grass and leaves, she quickly sat up and turned to shoot him an angry glare, only to see a bright flash then him writhe in agony and be flung back a few feet. He warily sat up hand on the back of his head, with a large still glowing painful looking burn on his chest.

"Did he just save me?" she could not think of another explanation other than this, but as she advanced to help him she felt a vice like grip on her wrist and was spun around. She now faced a large male Charizard just smaller than the Blastoise, his dark orange scales seemed to shun the light, and the malicious toothy grin his was portraying showed he meant no good.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? ... Hmmm ah! I know you your Kalos's kid aren't ya? Ohh... what was it? Yes Amber, that's it."

His grin became larger and he savagely licked the side of her face, his tongue dragging along her cheek leaving a trail of saliva to which she shuddered and tried to pull away, but to no avail his grip was to strong.

"Oh yes, I'm gonna enjoy thi... ARGH!"

His sentence was cut short as he was propelled fifteen feet leftwards through two trees, splintering them on contact; shards of the debris flew through the air and fell to the ground in their hundreds, piercing the flesh of the downed male 'zard'. This is because a large strong blast of high pressure, icy water had hit him squarely in the face, hard. Some of the excess spay falling on Amber, and as they landed they felt like thousands of burning prickles, though she did not feel them until moments after because of the adrenaline rushing through her.

She hastily turned around trying to figure where such a strong attack had come from, and then she saw him, amazingly standing there, upright, was the Blastoise with sweat dripping from his brow in a firm battle stance cannons pivoting on each shoulder, droplets of water dripping off the ends.

He smiled and looked at Amber, it was one of those don't worry everything will be alright kind of looks.

"Seems I've got into a knack of saving you" his voice was in a joking sort of manner. "Now quickly get behind me, if things take a turn for the worse run." She stood staring at him, a look of complete disbelief on her.

"W-why are you doing this for me, I-I-I don't even know you." her voice now a shiver.

"Well err... GET DOWN!" Amber just managed to throw herself to the floor as a searing flamethrower burst over her head. The Charizard had got up and started to walk towards them, his eyes were filled with utter loath, he pulled a large piece of tree out of his left shoulder, spraying some of his blood on the grass beneath him. The Blastoise's eyes narrowed.

"You attack a female from behind, you treat her as though she is an object, and then you try to sexually intimidate her... you clearly have no idea how to treat a woman." He lowered his body ready to blast again "so turn around... AND FUCK OFF!"

The sheer surprise of the outburst shocked Amber, she was frightened and stood frozen, not matter how much she wanted to move she couldn't, she knew a brawl was about to start, and she was right, again. The Male Charizard unexpectedly launched himself at the battle ready turtle and somehow landed a fire punch right in his stomach, the Blastoise recoiled from this and doubled over forwards, he rose back up to his feet only to be set upon by punch after punch to his face, and finally fell onto his side panting, blood pouring from his muzzle. He looked up and stared dazed into the male Charizard's face, as he was lifted off his feet by the front of his shell, the Charizard flared up his fist ready to finish him.

"NO!" Amber ran out to aid her saviour, but as she reached them she was hit by the back of his free arm across the face and she fell to the floor crying.

"Shut up bitch! Your next!" He yelled as she was flung to the floor.

The sound of the pain, distress Amber was in sent an emotion through the Blastoise's body, one that he had not experienced before. It was strange but what ever it was it seemed to be fuelled off the want to protect this female he had never even met before, he felt a new rush of power course through his weakened muscles.

"Don't touch her" His voice was dark, angry almost. the 'Zard' just laughed at this and took another swing for him, but this time it do not go to plan, as half way through the punch his hand was caught by the Blastoise's larger hand. With this advantage he used all the strength he had in his hand to crush the smaller hand in his grasp.

Panicing the offending fire type lost his grip on the Blastoise and tried to release his other hand frantically clawing to stop the pain it was causing, the Blastoise rose up standing a good head above his distressed opponent.

The male Charizard was now trembling, blood now oozing out the gaps between his fingers and down his arm, his eyes went blank and he dropped down onto one knee, with the opening he had been waiting for now there, the Blastoise brought his own knee up with lightning speed to bear with the Charizard's stomach. With such force all he had to do was release the 'Zard's' hand and he was sent rocketing upwards through the dense forest, and could be heard crashing down some far way off.

Amber had since recovered and stood staring jaw wide open, Could she really believe what he had just said and done, and was it really for her? He turned to face her and smiled weakly before collapsing onto his side, with a large thud.

She rushed forward knowing full well he would not survive long if he was left out he unconscious by himself, and she was not about to abandon the one who had maybe just saved her life.

_____________________________________________________________________________

With a great amount of difficultly Amber had somehow managed to heave the heavy Blastoise to a hot spring, not too far from where they were. She looked down at him, he was in a sorry state, bruises started showing up all over his body, the numerous burns that scored his shell and arms, and his face, the repeated punching clearly showed up on his face, some were minor injuries, but others... she could not bear to look at them. Her hand glided slowly along the side of his face stroking it, then down his shell to his stomach, to where the first, and most powerful, attack had been. She pulled back her hand quickly because where he had been hit was still searing hot! She was over come with sympathy and grief, he had gone through so much to see that she was safe, yet he did not even know her.

The voice in her head was ringing out; she was hit by millions of her own questions "Why did he do this? Risk his life for a complete stranger?"

"Was he really trying to protect me?"

She thought back to what he had said in the middle of the battle hardly an hour ago, "You attack a female from behind, you treat her as though she is an object, and then you try to sexually intimidate her... you clearly have no idea how to treat a female."

"Why am I doing this? It's wrong I know it is... but yet, No! What am I thinking!? I'm a Charizard and he's a Blastoise... It doesn't matter if he did what he did, He should just be... be..."

She hadn't noticed yet because she was lost in thought but the Blastoise was stirring, she only came to when he made a loud hacking noise and coughed up some blood, 'He's alive!' The voice in her head sounded happy, as she lent over him to inspect him further.

As he came to his arm lifted and slowly covered his face, he mumbled in a cursing tone just loud enough to be heard, his eyes still closed. "Argh... when I get my hands on that..." He let out a hacking cough "Son of a bitch, I'm gonna cut off his..."

He stopped as he opened his eyes, to meet the gaze of the Attractive Charizard he had just saved, her face showing a relived smile, and then without warning she practically jumped on him, wrapping her arms around the back of his head, and kissed him passionately.

He fell onto his back Feeling fully this time the sheer warmth of her body, how smooth and perfect it was on top of him, her tongue exploring every inch of his mouth, he could do nothing but return the kiss. His cold breath contrasted heavily with her warm breath, as his tongue danced with hers... he loved it, every fibre in his body never wanting this to end, he could not control his body and he became aroused, again, for the third time that day.

Amber opened her eyes wide suddenly realising what she was doing, she did not know why but she had been over taken by a passion which she had never experienced before, making it even more pleasurable. Breaking the kiss she stood up and took a step back, looking deeply ashamed.

"Wow...what a wake up call!" The Blastoise sounded pleased his face completely shocked put at the same time extremely happy.

"I'm so sorry" her voice was quivering "I didn't intend to do that, I kind of just happened..."

She had deeply blushed a shade of red, the Blastoise being compassionate as he was got up, holding the burn on his chest rubbing it slowly, "Really it's no problem, everyone does these things now and again." he was doing his best to try and comfort her. "Ok then, well I know your name, Amber right?"

She nodded quickly turning her head to the side in an effort to hide her embarrassment, "ha there no need to be embarrassed, the name's Rafeile." he extended his arm out to motion some sort of hand shake, but she did not respond so he pulled back his arm and scratched the back of his head. "Ahem well...yeah" he had hoped for a more positive reaction.

"Why did you save me?" Amber had looked up and was staring into Rafeile's dark green eyes.

Rafeile was confounded by this question, it was impossible to explain the way he felt towards her, he would look like an idiot, but he knew there was no other way to get out of this situation, "well umm... it's because I sorta..." He blinked quickly looked to the side "I saw someone in danger and just sorta had to jump to tha rescue you know?" He said through gritted teeth, he wanted to smack his head on a rock for saying something so unbelievably lame.

She thought over his answer furrowing her brow deeply and began fiddling with her claws on the ends of her hands nervously."Thank you but..."

Rafeile's heart sank to his feet, he thought that he had just completely blocked himself out and maybe she was just going to pick up and leave back to where ever she came from.

That is until she gripped her hands tightly into fists and looked up staring at him with a pleading gaze, "I just wanted to know if you find me well... attractive?"

His head shot up his eyes were bright and wild, did she really just ask him that? He frantically fumbled through his mind to come up with something romantic to say, but under the pressure he couldn't think of much.

"Well you're the most attractive Pokemon that I've ever seen, and believe me I've seen a lot of women."

Amber took this to heart very affectionately, but she did not blush, instead she actually started to cry. Rafeile looked dismayed, had what he said really been that bad?

"Please don't cry, I'm sorry, I know I'm an idiot, I-I was under pressure I didn't know what to say", but to his surprise when he noticed it she was not crying out of sadness but out of happiness. She walked hastily and hugged him, resting her head on his muscular chest, this was not hard because he stood a good foot and a half taller than her, Rafeile closed his arms slowly around her until they was resting on her back. Amber felt strangely secure in his grip, and without meaning let out a quiet purr, to which she covered it up with a well timed cough.

Rafeile smiled and looked down at the top of her head, he chanced a kiss on her forehead, she was pleasantly surprised and let out a louder purr unable to conceal it he continued to smile.

And then like a thunderbolt it hit them, though as unlikely as it ever could be, they had actually fallen for each other, it was truly love at first umm, mistake, fight... no that's not it... oh yeah... it was love at first sight.

"Rafeile?"

"Yes?"

"Rafeile I-I think I have some very confusing feelings for you... good feelings..." she was staring at him a sort of ambition burning within her eyes, waiting in anticipation for his answer.

"You know what amber? I was just thinking the same thing... I don't exactly know how to explain it but... well yeah you know what I mean." His throat was drying out.

She stroked the side of his face and pulled it closer; the two embraced in a long affectionate kiss, each savouring the taste of the others mouth. It seemed as though it would last forever, but as things go it did not last, for as though out of a nightmare, voices became clear through the wooded area just beyond them.

"Come on, Spread out! He can't have gotten far. Stop sitting down and find the piece of shit that took out Zidane!"

The voice sounded fierce, it had to belong to a Charizard, no other Pokemon Rafeile had ever heard other than a Charizard could sound like that, and he knew they would be all over them in seconds.

Without hesitation Rafeile positioned himself between Amber and where the sound had originated from, "If anything goes wrong then I want you to run" that dark tone returning to his voice.

"But..."

"NO BUTS! ... I'm sorry, it's just please, you have to promise me" his body was tensing up as he cracked his knuckles.

"...Ok" she replied but her head drooped.

Then all from directly ahead from where Rafeile was stood, three large male Charizard trudged through the under brush, two of them wore an evil grimace while the third was solemn and emotionless.

"Heh" the largest one in the middle of the three darkly chuckled, he stood tall and proud, "You really did a number on Zidane back there you know?"

Rafeile clenched his teeth and snarled, "Is that right?, well I'll do the same to you, if your not out of here in the next five seconds" his anger was clearly rising.

The Charizard just shrugged and looked to his side, grinning at the zard to his left, "Ha! Cool it off hot shot, hmm actually I've just thought of something, this is a one in a life time offer so think carefully about your answer", he tried to make his voice sound as nice as possible, though it kind of sounded like he was choking. "How'd you like to join the raiders?"

This was a joke it had to be, did they even know who he was, obviously not. "Oh yeah that is a one in a life time offer", Rafeile's retort was short and sarcastic, "let me think about this... umm, no, I'd rather just kick your ass."

"Ooo look at this we got us a mouthy one, do you know what we... huh? Wait a second..." He had now directed his attention at Amber, "Well who woulda thought, the little princess out here, out in the big bad world." The Charizard to his left snickered.

"Well I guess Zidane wasn't lying after all, Kalos's kid is here." Stopped and looked from Rafeile to Amber then nearly lost control laughing.

"What the fuck is so funny?!" Rafeile was nearly off the edge with anger, his face darker than ever.

The Charizard wiped a tear from his face and settled himself down, "Well thets just say, if Kalos knew about this" He pointed between Rafiele and Amber, "I wouldn't have to kill you!" He resumed his casual stance, "anyway this has been fun and all but I have a job to do, boys get the girl, we might be able to ransom here off later, that is of course after we've had some fun with her." Amber whimpered, as strong as Rafeile was she knew he couldn't take on three fully grown male Charizards.

That's when Rafeile lost all care for his own life, he couldn't control his anger any longer, he just would not imagine what they would do to her, but he wouldn't let them not while he lived, "YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HER!" Rafeile went wild and tore forward straight for them, demonstrating again his lightning speed.

The larger Charizard lifted off just in time to evade Rafeile's attack, but the two unfortunate lackeys either side of him were too slow, and found their faces in the grasp of the enraged Blastoise, they were completely helpless as they were flung at an incredible speed towards the ground, and upon impact their heads indented into the ground but this didn't make Rafiele let up, he kept pushing them into the ground until they stopped squirming and the fires on their tails simmered down to a flicker.

The Charizard that had escaped his wrath was now fully exposed in the late evening light, he appeared well built with his 'fair' share of scars on his chest and wings, the point that was most noticeable was the colour of his skin, he was the same shade of dark orange as the other Charizard was before, could that mean that they were related?

Amber who had only once before seen Rafeile's display of power now stood in shock, "He just took both of them out in one attack, and again for me, could he possibly Have developed feelings for me that fast?"

"Coward!" Rafeile roared he was baring his teeth as he focused on the Charizard hovering meters above, "you would attack a female three to one! You truly are scum!"

He was taken aback by the smile that had spread across the males face, "heh whatever you say shell for brains, you know you would have made an excellent addition to our little group, ohh well" he looked at Amber again "Wait till your boyfriend isn't around then you'll get it." A gleam in his eye.

He kicked up a strong gust of wind as he propelled him self through the air, scattering some leaves and dust, Rafeile stood there for a while in complete silence for what seemed a while until he sat roughly onto his backside. Amber rushed forward and embraced Rafeile in a loving hug wrapping her arms tightly around his chest and kissed him lightly on the cheek.

"Thank you, it seems I owe you a great deal, you've saved my life twice today, and you've given me someone to to care about." He blushed a light pink, and turned to face her, his face alight with pride. She gasped.

"Oh! Your face, you're hurt."

He had some how gained a long thin gash down the right side of his face, going straight from the top of his scalish eyebrow, down the side of his cheek, it looked as though it would scar.

"It's nothing really... Ack!" He coughed up a small amount of blood and spat it to his side.

"You need a healer or that won't seal up, I'm not that good yet." her voice had a worried tone.

"I mean it I'm fine... ah shit..." He spat again this time more blood was produced, Amber placed her hands on her hips, giving him that your going if you like it or not kind of look.

Pouting slightly he let out a defeated sigh "Ohh... alright but where are we gonna find one around here?"

Amber looked thoughtful and craned her head to the south, her face showed she had an idea, so she let out an excited giggle.

"I know! We can go see my mother, she's a wonderful healer, and she can do almost anything!"

Rafeile groaned "Wait? What! No way, I can't go into Charizard territory, I wouldn't be the most welcome person in the world now would I? I mean it's no like I mmprh..." His last words were engulfed in the sensation of kissing.

Amber had locked lips with him, making sure he knew she didn't really care as long as they were together, when she broke the kiss she giggled at him, "You'll be fine as long as your with me, oh yeah and stow the cannons would you please?"

Rafeile realised that he still had his cannons drawn, and quickly worked to re-sheath them.

When he was finished he rose up and started to walk over to where the Charizard lackeys laid unconscious, "fine I'll go just wait there" he heaved them onto his shoulders and walked back to Amber.

"These two will need dealing with, I'll let your farther deal with that though, he seems to be the authority of power around here," he stated with a light chuckle.

The pair set off in to the forest towards the White Mountain, leaving a scene of battle in their wake, trees in splinters, rocks in dust and the grass stained with blood, unaware they were still being watched...
