Journey to Another World 6

Ch. 104

I knew that the Glaceon was on the road to recovery now, now that both her and I had taken those first crucial steps in getting her over her past, but what to do about the Articuno? Unlike the Glaceon, the Articuno had been the instigator in the incident and by the expression on its face; it seemed to have enjoyed molesting the poor/weaker ice type. The first thing to come to mind was to use a bit of some reverse psychology on it, but that might prove to be a double edged sword. 'Heck, it might even enjoy being tied down and such.' At that though a shiver ran up my spine and I quickly shook my head to clear it of the unsettling idea.

Slowly I turned back to look over my shoulder and a smile slowly spread across my face. It seemed that my suspicion of Kit and the Glaceon hitting it off was about right as the two were walking side by side and I could almost swear that their steps were synchronized. 'Well, they did have some...troubling backgrounds with their previous trainers.' Though seeing how the two were of different types, being on the opposite side of the spectrum and all, it only made me happier that they could find some common ground to build a friendship out of. Slowly turning back around I began to think again as to the problem at hand. 'There is no way that I can introduce the rest of the group to Articuno. Who knows what would happen.' With that I slowly began to walk around, not realizing that instead of walking in a circle that I thought I was, I was walking off into the distance. It was only when Jenavee spoke up that I stopped in my tracks and realized that I'd walked off.

"I can understand your reluctance to tell the others about the Articuno, but I do wish to know about your plans for her. Surely she can be helped...right?" As I turned and looked over to her I saw that she didn't have our child with her, but still looked quite concerned.

"I'm not so sure. Helping the Glaceon is already looking like it'll work, but I'm not so sure for the Articuno." I spotted a fallen log and took up a seat upon it. "The Glaceon was psychically assaulted and mentally traumatized while under that of the Trainers instruction and influence. But the Articuno is a whole other matter entirely."

"How so?" Jenavee asked as she took up a seat right next to me, adjusting her flowing dress a bit so that it sat a little better and covered up her legs at the same time.

"To put it simply. It looked like the Articuno was...enjoying what it was doing to that Glaceon." I went silent for a bit as I put my elbows on my thighs, interlaced my fingers, and rested my chin on the interlaced fingers. "In my world, there is such a person who enjoys causing others pain. We call them Sadists."

"Sad...Sadis... I do not believe I have ever heard of this world."

"And I don't expect you to have. It is a term that is or comes from my world. In simple terms, it is a person who enjoys causing or inflicting dominance over others. Though they will use unusual tactics to do this, pain, words, you name it...they probably use it."

"If this Sad...what's it comes from your world Donovin, how did it get into ours?"

"I wish I knew Jenavee, I really wish I knew." I then turned my head up to the sky and took in a long and slow breath. "Worse yet is, I don't know if this is a thing that 'can' be dealt with or cured of. Helping a victim of this who doesn't want something like this to happen to them is rape and that can be helped, but the one who seems to enjoy doing this to others, that...is a whole other matter entirely."

Jenavee seemed to have a hard time understanding this and it was no wonder. I knew that she knew about my past and the truth about who and where I come from, but to deal with something like this, out of my world and into that of a world that was practically rated G... "It doesn't mean that there are methods to deal with this."

"You mean that there is hope for the Articuno?" She seemed to brighten at that and looked over at me with hopeful eyes.

"I believe so, but it is something that I am not too fond of thinking of or applying."

"But if you believe that there is hope then there is no reason for us to give up on her."

'That is true, but I still don't like the idea that I'm thinking of or implementing to try and help this overly large bird.' I thought to myself, hoping that Jenavee wouldn't overhear my thoughts and see the idea that I had in mind. As my mind continued on the same path, I hoped that it would lead to the same outcome as putting down some vicious animals back home. But could I consider a legendary/sentient being to death just because of this? As one person stated, 'Who has the right to decide the fate of others? For those who do, it is as if that person is stepping on the toes of god or gods.'

It was then that I heard Rena calling over to us and saw that she was waving mostly to that of Jenavee and saying something along the lines that she wanted to introduce our children to the Glaceon. Jenavee gave her a nod but turned back to me, as if to ask if everything was alright as well as if she could go and watch over the kids while they played with the Glaceon. With a nod from me I saw her give me a forced smile then watched as she walked back to our little group and began to introduce her little one to the Glaceon. The Glaceon was a little reluctant to come close to the little ones, but when Kit gave her a bit a nudge with one of her tails did she get the message and give in. At first her actions were a little hesitant but with time she grew a bit more confident with everything and began to show off a bit to the kids delight. I was a little surprised that she wasn't using her natural ice abilities, but I simply chocked that up to either caution or she might not know those abilities yet. I would've loved to watch the sight for the rest of the day but I knew that there were other things that I needed to do. 'There are things to be done, and it's not good to put them off for too long.' With that thought I got up off my log and walked further away from the group.

I eventually stopped twice the distance that I'd been from my family when Jenavee had snapped me out of my train of thought and pulled off the Articuno's ball. Holding it aloft I depressed the button of the front and called out the verbal release command. "Come on out Articuno. We need to have a chat." With that I gave the ball an upwards toss and watched as the ball arched in the air, only to stop at its peak, and then pop open. The light that spilled out of the ball quickly shot to the ground where it exploded and left a large blue ice bird in its wake. The bird didn't waste any time in opening its eyes and looking about, but when it spotted me it's eyes grew hard and it scowled at me.

"Now before you get it in your head to attack me, I want you to remember what happened the last time we met." I said, hoping that I'd avoid it doing what I thought it was about to do. "And as a second note, I want you to know that you won't be rapping/molesting/ or any other such dirty acts to any Pokémon while a part of my/this team." This only seemed to make the bird even angrier, but I did little to show any sign of weakness or backing down. Some people believe that if faced with that of a predator, the first thing you should do is run, not true. The first thing you should do is size up the situation, for it becomes apparent that if faced with a threat, the threat might just think your running away to mark you as pray or weak and instantly give chase. Though me being able to not only knock this big blue bird out, but also being that of a sword fighter, told me that I could take this bird.

As the birds eyes began to show more menace I slowly reached for my blade strapped to my left side. Within that of a moment my whole body tensed as I grasped the handle with my right hand with my left on the hilt to prepare for a quick draw. "Just try it!" I said in a menacing tone. "And if you do, I'll ground you for life!" And to accentuate or drive home the point I slowly began to draw my blade. The bird slowly began to look me up and down and as it did so I slowly inched my foot forward, in attempt to either intimidate or prepare for a quick draw/cut. Once our eyes met again I could see that my tactic had paid off and the fierceness in the bird's eyes slowly lessoned, but I wasn't fooled for a second.

"I don't know what went on with your pervious trainer, but whatever he taught you, it stops right now. I am your trainer now, and I 'DON'T' permit anything of that while your apart of this team." It was then that the bird thought that I'd loosened up a bit and attacked with a quick Ice Beam attack.

Though being as prepared as I was, I simply side stepped the attack and lunged forward, only to stop my blade as it ended up pressed against the bird's right shoulder. But as time seemed to catch up with us, the bird fell to its knees and opened its eyes in shock, for not only did it now have a blade pressed against its shoulder but also a great pain in its stomach area.

(Time slowed)

Anticipating the birds retaliation I'd quickly moved out of its direct firing range, as I knew that an Ice Beam or many more attack/s were line of sight. So as I quickly moved forward, I drew my blade in a diagonal movement that ended up with the flat part of the blade slapping the bird in its stomach area with an upward diagonal movement, then following the same trajectory, I'd grabbed the blade with my left hand and arched the blade up and over the birds head to have it come down and stop just above the bird's right shoulder.

(Present)

The bird looked to be in that of a penitence pose, as it had its head lowered and eyes closed in pain. Though as I stood over it I slowly moved my blade from its shoulder and placed it over its neck, as if I were some kind of executioner. "That will be the first, and the last time you ever try to attack someone without my say so." I then tapped it on the back of its neck to let the bird know who had the upper hand at the moment. "I'm not like all those other trainers that you know or heard about. I don't just sit back and allow my team to come to harm by one of their own or from someone or something else." I then brought my sword around and lifted the birds head up with it as I place it under its chin and lifted. "That goes for Pokémon as well as other living human beings. DO...I...MAKE...MYSELF...CLEAR!?" I asked in a menacing tone that left little to the imagination that there'd be consequences if said rule was broken.

The Articuno's eyes slowly opened and I could see that the defiance or scowl was gone and in its place was that of fear. There came no response for a while, but as I slowly began to rotate my hand and began to get closer to having an actual edge to the bird's throat, the bird quickly gave a nod and began to shake. It seemed to get the big picture now, and knew that I was a trainer like no other it'd ever heard or thought was in existence.

'I really didn't want to have to use this method, but I'm not going to submit to some overgrown ice bird just to have it continue with its pleasure of hurting others. Especially the ones I care about.' Knowing now that my point was drawn or deeply embedded in the birds head, I slowly took away the blade and slid it back home into its sheath but stopped when there was only about an inch left outside the scabbard. "With that said and done, I'll let you know about the things that are expected of you." I then forced the last inch of the sword home that made a slight clanking sound of metal on metal be heard. "I don't expect you to fly me or my team all over the place, but I do expect you to treat the rest of the team with respect. In return for giving said respect, you will be shown respect back and I promise to take good care of you."

I don't know how long the two of us stood there in the field but after a while the bird finally nodded to my conditions and was recalled to its ball for the duration. Once it was finally back in its ball did I relax and turned to walk back to the others, but it wasn't more than a dozen paces before I felt the overwhelming urge to cough. Not being able to suppress it I leaned over, covered my mouth, and then let out a deep cough that felt slightly wet coming up. When I brought my hand away from my mouth I looked down at it and stared down at it in horror. Covering most of my hand was that of a deep red color and I knew that something within me had ruptured and was spilling blood into my system. I quickly raised up my head and was about to cry out for help, but was wracked with another cough.

Before I fell to the ground in a coughing fit, I heard a mental cry and saw both Rena and Jenavee crest the grassy hill. Not being able to speak I cried out mentally to them and saw Rena flash. The next seconds were lost to me as my whole body began to spasm with each cough, but that didn't last long as some kind of ease slowly spread through my system. ' Just stay still for a moment Donovin. I will have you fixed up in a jiffy.' I heard Rena's voice say in my head.

'What in the world happened Donovin? Were you attacked by the bird?' Jenavee's voice sounded just as shaky and upset as Rena's was, but through that I could also detect a hint of malice in the back of her voice.

Once the fit had passed and the glow from Rena's paws had lessened did I finally find myself able to focus on something other than the coughing. 'No. It was my fault. I pushed myself beyond what I thought I was ready for. As for the Articuno, she knows that it's dangerous to her health to try and attack one of us. I don't think that she's going to take my instructions during a battle, but at least she knows that there are consequences to attacking one or any of us.' With that thought I slowly began to rise up, but Jenavee only allowed me to get into a sitting position, as Rena still had more healing to do on my insides.

As I sat there and allowed Rena to work on my back, I eventually heard the sound of someone or some people coming over the rise and saw that it was the rest of my team and family. Kit had the kids ridding upon that of her back while the Glaceon was sticking close to her right side, and Undine slithered along on Kit's other. With everyone now here Jenavee explained what was going on and with a few other stern words or looks from the others on that of me getting sick again, I promised not to excerpt myself to that point ever again. "I'll just have to train harder then. That way I won't end up in this same predicament ever again."

How little did I know that those skills would shortly be put to the test a few days later.
