Chapter 8: Burning Anger Inside.

The leaves of the trees began to fall, floating along the breeze. The forest was colored with the beautiful, vibrant hues of autumn. It was slightly cool out, just that perfect temperature to git rid of the summer heat. The clouds had been gathering in the sky forming a blanket to hide away the warming sun. Out in an opening near a mountain was a particular scruffy looking grey wolf, his intense eyes focused on the large tree in front of him. The raging fire inside of him was one of intense fury. He growled driving his fist clenched paws into the sturdy maple tree. A thunderous crack was heard throught the surrounding area. This only drove the animal more mad. He struck the tree over and over, the sounds emanating from his strikes sounding like primal drumming. He howled out has he dragged his claws across the tree, disfiguring the once beautiful tree. "That filthy bastard must die." He growled out as he bounded off on all fours.

John walked into the apartment. "SURPRISE!!" several people yelled out. "Oh wow thanks guys, you didn't have to throw a party." John said smiling. The ceiling was decorated with banners. Streamers hung like long spider webs from the walls. The were balloons strewn about the room each one unique in color. A white furred wolf came up kissed John and gave him a smile. "Happy Birthday John." Krystal said. "Thanks everyone." John said smiling. Sky, Light, Krystal and a few other people were now huddled around him. "Hey look I even made a cake!" Sky said happily as the calico's tail swished about. "It's all great guys, thanks." John said. The walked over and began to slice up the cake and eat it. Everyone was smiling and laughing as they joked and played some games.

The group eventually began to die down as the hours wore on. It was now late into the night. The only vistor left was Sky. "Later John, Oh yeah hey, could you stop by the lab tomorrow? We have something we want to test." Sky asked. "As long as it's not another rocket suit." John said remember the last thing Sky wanted him to test, almost killing him in the process. "No it's not." Sky said smiling. "See you tomorrow then." Sky said walking out the door. John sighed as he slouched back on the couch. Krystal snuggled up against him. "This was the most interesting birthday for sure. Who would have thought I would have a party with some aliens on another planet?" John said chuckling. "Not in a million years." Krystal said. "But I am glad you showed up." Krystal said kissing him and snuggling up against him. "Me too." John finished. Light had scruied off to his room about an hour after the party started. Light was now asleep. John and Krystal snuggled feeling the night work it's magic as the two became even more sleepy and eventually drifted off.

The moons were high in the sky shining down upon the darkend land. Soon the sun would rise and the inhabitants of the world would begin their busy days, but for now they lie sleeping think of many different wonderful things. One soul was not sleeping though, he hadn't been able to sleep for some time now. His incesant anger drove to the point of madness. The hate inside poisoned his body, it fueled his almost demonic energy. His mind had been plotting and now he could no longer wait, if he did not act his madness would destroy him. His clothes had long been seperated from him, his form now more animal and primal then previously. He looked at the moons, he let his primal rage out in a bloody howl.

The morning sun glistened with it's golden light. The shadows began to disappear. John was awaken by the movement of the beautiful wolf next to him. He smiled at her. "Morning sweetie." He said to Krystal. "Morning." She yawned out stretching. John kissed her and she licked his face. "We should be getting up now, huh?" Krystal asked opening her eyes to see the rays of the sun dancing along the wall. "Yeah I would say so." John said sitting up. Krystal went to shower and get ready as John dawned some of his old earth clothes, oh how he missed such simple things. He got up stretched and walked by their bedroom. "Hey I'm going to head off now." John called out. "Ok then I'll see you in a little bit." Krystal said. John headed out the door walking along the suspended bridge to the Skyport. He got onto the familiar white hovercycle. It whirred to life and began to rise in the air, soon he was zooming off towards the lab.

The air rushed past his face. Within two minutes he was at the lab. he got off the bike, locked it to the ground, and went into the lab. As usual he said hi to a few of the furs that he had gotten to know. John walked down the hall and past the room where he first met Krystal, Sky, and Red. His trip down memory lane was cut short as Sky seen him in the hall. "Hey John you're just in time. We have our test set up." Sky said. "Ok then." John said following. They arrived at a small room, it was all white. There was a small table with a black box on it, along with some different shaped and colored objects. "Here, this is a microphone, go ahead and stand by that table." Sky said. "Hey what is going to happen?" John said a little nervous. "Don't worry about it, the guys and I will be watching from that room over there." Sky said pointing to a glass window. Sky left the room and John walked to the table.

John stood in front of the table as he watched the others talk among themselves. The window must have been quite thick because he could not hear a sound. A itercom had come on and Sky's voice was heard. "Ok John you have to put these shaped objects into that puzzle box." Sky said. John looked at the box. It looked like a toddler's toy. "That's it?" John asked skeptical. "Yep." Sky said. "I'm ready then." John said confident. "GO." Sky said. John picked up the first block and then went to put it into the hole. All of a sudden John felt very, very, heavy. The small 3'' shaped block felt like it weighed fifty pounds. "What the Hell!?" John said. It was hard for him to breath and stand. He tried to prop himself up on the table. He grabbed onto the basketball sized box and the small puzzle piece as he fell to the floor. He pushed himself up from the floor and slipped the block into the hole. John felt weightless and began to float in the air as the blocks floated in the room.

John tried to keep from vomiting. "Are you guys playing with the gravity or something?" John said into his microphone a bit angry that Sky didn't tell him before. "Well sort of." Sky said. John tried to push off the wall to retrieve the next block. He grasped it and felt himself hit the floor as the gravity went back to 'normal'. John let out a grunt as he hit the floor hard. He quickly shoved the block in its hole. He then shoved another quickly into its spot. He grabbed the last one as he went up into the air again. This time everything was completely dark, he couldn't see anything and felt for the hole pushing it back where it belonged and then braced himself as the lights came back on and his feet hit the floor. "Good job." Sky said as he came back in. "What exactly where you testing?" John asked getting up and walking over to Sky. "Well we wanted to see how quickly you could adapt to the changing situations." Sky said. "Oh I see." John said, now satified.

"EVERYONE RUN NOW!" a dragon yelled running down the hall. "What the Hell is going on!? " John yelled out. He grabbed a cat running past him. "What is happening?" John asked. The cat was panicked. He responded and Sky said why. "He's back." Sky said, his face was very grim. "Who!?" John asked. His body was full of adrenaline. "Red." Sky's voice was dead quiet, John only barely heard it. "Shit!" John said. That's when the blood currdling, howling, scream was heard. "JOHN!!!!" Red bellowed out in his beast-like tone. John ran to the training room nearby where Sky hid in a closet and John grabbed a gun and his collapsable sword. The white metal door in front of his was broken in as the mad grey wolf ran through the door hopping over the twisted piece of steel that used to be the door.

John had never felt life more real in that moment, he could feel the sweat on his forehead, he felt the way gravity pulled on things, he felt time passing. Everything was incredibly slow. The wolf was in midair, he was heading right for him, only two feet away. John swung the heavy sword in his left and hit the creature in the muzzle making him fall in the opposite direction a few feet away. Time seemed to return to it's normal flow. "AAUUUGHHH!" Red yelled, he was dazed. John raised the gun to his face. "Don't move Red it's over." John said. "Over for you, you filthy human. You don't deserve to be alive." Red said raising his paw to strike John. John reacted on instinct and cut his paw clean off with one swift swing of his sword. Red seemed unaffected by it immediately lashing his other paw towards John's face, John countered and cleaved the other paw off also Red calmed some. Red was awestruck, the rage that clouded the pain was now gone. Fully armed guardds rushed into the room, it wasn't hard to find out where Red was as he left a huge trail of debris. The guards fired about ten darts into the wolf. He dropped uncoscious and the guards dragged him out of the building.

John followed them out. "What's going to happen to him?" John asked. Sky walked up behind him. "They are going to lock him up...somewhere where he will never get out." Sky said. "Good." John said. Krystal ran up to John. "I just found out what happend, Oh my god! Are you alright?" She asked concerned. "I'm fine sweetie." John said kissing her. Red was hauled off to a maximum security facility. He was put in what was esentially a ten foot thick solid steel box. He was constantly drugged to keep from any further pyschosis. His meals where feed to him by fully armored guards, being as now he only had his two hind paws. He would no longer be a danger to anyone, nor would he ever get out of that place.
