(edit) changing the name of the series to Vincent's quest

this story and most of the material in it are copyright to Regidor.

this story will not have any furry in the first chapter, but good things come to those who wait.

Vincent Treadraw was just your average highschool student. He had blonde hair, green eyes and was about five feet and ten inches. He was known as Vince around school. He had a rather slender build and didn't work out much. He went to school in McPherson, kansas and lived in a small house with his mother and younger brother. His family was never really financially stable. They were always living on the brink of debt, yet somehow they managed to scrape by each month. Vince had never met his dad before, but he always had something to remember him by. It was a small silver pendant shaped like the side of a dragons head with a ruby as the eye. Vincent had often thought about pawning this pendant for money to help his mother with rent, but every time he would arrive at the pawn shop a strong urge would cause him to turn back.

"HEY! watch it kid", the driver of the blue ferarri said as Vince nearly crossed the road without looking. Vince had been lost in thought a lot recently. His family had finally gone into debt and he was trying to think of ways to scrape up a little money for his mom. He thought about the pendant hanging around his neck but thought that, just like the last times he had tried to sell it, he would not be able to sell it. Stealing was a last resort, but if he couldn't find the money soon, he would have to resort to it. He had stollen things to pay the rent before. When Vince did steal, he would always leave the money somewhere his mom could find, like her purse or her sock drawer. She never asked him about the extra money.

As Vince arrived at his house, he saw black cars. He knew they were collectors from the bank. Vince waited outside the door where he could hear the debt collectors talking to his mother. "look misses Treadraw, if you don't pay soon we will have to reposess your car." Ell, Vince's mother said "well i am trying. i will pay as soon as i get the money okay?" The debt collectors were silent, then left. Vince glared at them as they left. As Vince entered the house he said hi to his mother and gave his brother Gabriel a hug. "How ya doing little man?" Vince asked. Gabe (as his Vince called him) replied "not so good. Can we go play a game in your room?" Vince in turn said "Of course buddy". Gabe had always looked up to Vince. And in the absence of a real father, he was the closest thing Gabe had to a real father. Gabe was only Vinces half brother, but that didn't matter to Vince.

As Vince and Gabe were playing their game, they talked about the bank collectors and how they were going to get money to pay the rent. Vince didn't really like Gabe to worry that much, so he sent him to bed with a promis that they would get through it. Vince had a plan tonight. Vinces only friend, marsh, had been scoping out a warehouse that had just recently gotten a delivery. The delivery van had been guarded by several police cars. Whatever was inside had to be good. Vince was going to steal whatever he could carry and sell it all.

Vince met up with Marsh to find out about the warehouse. Marsh said, "there's only one security guard, but all of the doors are locked. there doesn't seem to be a security system either." Vince replies, "were you seen? i don't want you to be implicated if i get caught." To that Marsh replies, "don't worry man, you know me, like the shadows". they parted ways at that. Later that night, when Vince was sure nobody was looking, he snuck up to the door of the warehouse and slid his school I.D. between the door and the wall. with not much noise, Vince pulled the door open. The warehouse was fairly dark and he didn't see the guard anywhere. Slowly, like a lithe cat, Vince snuck further into the warehouse. He could see his goal, there, maybe twenty paces in front of him, were boxes of potentially expensive things. Suddenly, Vince was grabbed from behind. The unknown person said "whoah there boy, you're trespassing". Vince silently cursed as the guard took him to be carted off to jail.

The holding cell Vince was in was the drunk tank. It smelled of urine and vomit. that was the trouble with these small town jails, they didn't have temporary holding cells. The police had notified Vinces mother to come and pick him up. As soon as his mother showed up he could tell she was angry. Vince got his court date assigned to him and left with his mom. Ell didn't say a word until they were home. When they got in the house Ell partially yelled "i can't believe you would do this to me. now i not only have debt collectors to deal with, but now i have your court costs to pay. just, get out of here". Vince replied, "Oh i will leave. I'm never coming back too. you would probably be better off without me anyway." and with that, he left.

It was early moring, maybe around three A.M. and the roads were pretty clear. Vince was always more of an inside person. He never really explored outside the town. After a short walk to the edge of the city, Vince decide he was going to go walk around the refinery. Since vince was already in trouble and was probably going to get kicked out of his house, he decided he was going to jump the fence surrounding the refinery. As he walked around the refinery, he started to notice a warmth on his chest. He looked down at his pendant, and noticed that it was glowing and slightly shaking. Vince decided he would keep walking in that same direction. After about thirty seconds, the pendant started to lift and tug to the left. What Vince saw over there were some oil tanks and a slab of standing rock. As Vince approached, the pendant started to tug harder. Vince decided he would take off the pendant, lest it be yanked from his neck. When Vince was but a few steps from the slab, he could barely keep the pendant in his hand. The pendant pulled him into the slab, and there was a great flash of white, followed only by darkness.

And that was chapter one. i hope this will turn into something. maybe some suggestions on how to better impove this one?
