#1 of IDENTITY CRISIS

This is my RE-release of IDENTITY CRISIS! I did some mindmapping and found the story was going to fall apart fast without some clarification. This is a look at the world that my story takes place in. There is some religious bits scattered about (Stop running away! It's just the fluffy bits!) and hope that everyone will press on anyway and enjoy the world I've built.

IDENTITY CRISIS

The world...

"How long have I been here? How many versions of this world have I seen? How did I get to this one? Am I from here?"

You remember Earth right? Terra I think you called it. "Nice place" you may say, though I'm sure you know it is usually not all that great. Life is hard there, with many groups vying for control of each other, economic collapse, ecological catastrophes happening all over. Well, for those of you that think about it, it would be the same for any planet that had humans in it as the dominant intelligent life.

How about if they weren't alone?

My world... is Eden.

Now don't flake out on me, I'm gonna bring up some religious stuff but it's important to the story, okay? After my explanation, probably no more mentions. Probably (they are a little loopy in my world).

It is a garden of many intelligent races, growing up together since the dawn of time. Well, kind of. See, there was that whole thing with Adam and Eve. With the fallen angel and all that jazz? Well in my dimension God let olé' Lucy go and have his own place, influencing humans in a different way than him. The story goes on and humans try to reach the heavens, and God makes them all speak different languages. Time goes on some more, and humans turn all hornball and freaky, same sex and beastiality and stuff...

Well this is where the story veers a bit.

God turned them each into a hybrid of all the creatures on the planet! BAM! Anthros were born! Humans were still there of course; Nora and her family I think. Well, time went on some more and idols of false gods were made. Well God didn't like that, but Lucy gave him some ideas.

Oh boy, the story is about to run right off the mountain here...

Through all this time Lucy convinced God he was right and angels should have free will too. God knew this was (duh!) a trick, so again he (I think 'He' is a 'Shi'... random I know, sue me) transformed the populations into the likeness of their idols! BAM! Kitsune's like me, and all other sorts of mythological creatures (including angels and demons) were born! Mysticism (Not magic per-say, but ended up being called it anyway) came with these forms and as such wars broke out for the sake of every races survival. Most of these mystic figures hid from the world, to keep from dying out.

Oddly enough, though it took an extra thousand years, our countries separated the same way. The same bad things happened even; failed attempts to exterminate a race, countries fighting over resources. Mostly same technology, though ours is more automated and diverse (because some races don't exactly hold, or have the ability to hold, objects).

Our currency is coins of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Copper. As such, wearing any of these minerals is seen as a sign of wealth (or arrogance). We trade in forge notes (no banks) and forge coins. A forge is a place to get notes, and to reforge your coins from others into your own currency. Your seal is essentially your identity, so the governments run the forges. It's security tightly wrapped in security with lava security deterrents, if I had to describe it. It's worth putting up with though. This makes prices of goods stay relatively the same over time. That and knowledge.

Because of the way things went down (no flood and all that sacrificial lamb... PFF! Would have been hilarious to see your world, then see ours; a Jesus lamb...) humans are essentially giants (about eight feet, average), and live upwards of six hundred years. However, most anthros live about one hundred years. Just take your animal lifespan in your world and add a zero to the end. Don't ask me why it's like that, I didn't make all this mess!

Governments... Right. Mostly the same, though now they use what you call the Olympics to settle disputes. Countries are some perversion of their original names: Afurka, Yipan (that's my home!), Grrmany, Yerrope, Kanneda, Soviat Crusha (Huskys are way too serious), Marerica, etc...

Most countries have a few mega cities instead of hundreds of thousands of towns. Well, those are tribes; groups of savage anthros who refuse technology and have succumbed to their inner animal. They are the reason for mega cities, really. Anything smaller could be pillaged.

So your wondering about the mystical creatures and how everything isn't dead? Well, they are not allowed in any position of power, which most accept, and they usually work factories... Or are factories! Those who do this are usually very rich and famous (or country secrets). In some ironic twist though, most took the life of solitude and seclusion. Most couldn't handle becoming something they worshipped and killed themselves... Very sad time the dark ages were. So mythological creatures are rare, and usually don't procreate.

Ah, yes. Procreation. Since we all came from humans (or some cruel twist of fate) we are all compatible. This led to hybrids of many... MANY different forms. Of course some are abominations, poor souls... BUT the time of experimenting is over and we (mostly) know what does and doesn't work.

Okay, last mention of the God person. Think he was satisfied and left. Really. Not many religions around because of all the things that happened, and any of his worshippers get no treatment different than the rest of us. I think that is why we kept the name of Eden. Our whole planet is beautiful, and very peaceful.

Of course there are deserts (war in the old days involved a lot of salting), but the world is very lush with all forms of life! Their isn't much in the form of starvation. Rain forests and jungles are more common than a "normal" forest!

So that's my world. Pretty neat, huh?
