It was a full moon the mountain trail was lit by the rays of the silver moon. A lone Lucario was returning from a hunt for his pack, mate, and young son. As he sniffed the air an odd scent came through his nose, it was a strong scent that made his blood boil. It was something he had not smelled in a long time, he dropped the prey he caught and rushed to the pack grounds. To his shock he found his pack members lying, dead, their bodies ripped in two. Almost all of the bodies of his brethren were hard to tell apart except for the body of his beloved mate. He howls in pain and loss as he walked over to his mate's body. Her beautiful lustful fur covered in blood and scars. Her once crimson eyes closed forever. He kisses his dearly departed love, it seemed as years went by as he kissed his mate for the last time.

A howl rang and others joined him as if summoning death to take the fallen souls. The Lucario breaks and runs from the bodies, haunted by the lost of his loved one and friends. The sound of the howls grew louder and louder echoing in his mind and heart. He ran and ran trying to come to an understanding why has this happened, why him? What has he done to anger the great beings above? He ran aimlessly, memories of his fallen pack rushed through his mind. He then shut his eyes and began to cry, but he did not find release in the memory. He runs off a hill side and was sent rolling down the rocky slope. His body became bruised and beaten as he rolled down even if he was slashed or hacked, it would not even compare to his lost love. At the foot of the hill was a tiny village, dimly lit by the torches outside of the houses. The Lucario fell from the slope to a house slamming into the side causing a loud thud.

A boy rushed out and found the Lucario laying there passed out, wounded with tears rolling down his face. "You poor thing, what has happened to you?"The boy stood and slowly picked up the Lucario but found he was too heavy for a young one to carry far, so he grabbed the beast by the his foot finding it odd it had such soft, yet rough, tender pads, dragging him to the barn nearby. The boy found it amazing to see a creature like this since most of them who came near the village were killed or chased away. He looks in awe at the Lucario and sees he is wounded severely. He wraps up the wounds with bandages he took from a first aid kit stashed away inside the barn. Footsteps came from afar and the boy quickly covered the creature with a sheet and came out to meet his father, who was confused to see his son out this late but happy that he found him since there were chores to be done. A few minutes passed and the Lucario awoke to find himself alone in the dark place. "Alone" he thought to himself. Then a bit of light peeked in from the door, and slowly it grew. A figure was standing in front of him. It was too bright for his eyes to take. The door slams shut and the light dies and everything goes back to darkness. The boy lights a candle and sits in front of the Lucario.

The Lucario blinks. His eyes begin to adjust allowing him to see that the figure was not a god but just a boy. He growls in defense against the stranger. He began to see that the boy was holding a dagger by his side. He knows that humans have killed his kind before. The boy fell, landing on his side as he heard the growl dropping the candle making it roll to the Lucario's paw, burning him. The Lucario yelped and pushes the boy sending him through the air, making him hit the ground. The boy slowly gets up, dusting himself off and walks back to the Lucario. "Hey now, I mean no harm." The boy removes his dagger and throws it a side to a pile of hay. The Lucario turned away from the boy and the boy places an apple in front of the beast.

" Go on now, eat up." The Lucario pushes the apple with his tail in front of him and picks it up, bringing it nearer his muzzle. The boy looks at the beast with awe and places one of his hands onto the beast's back feeling it warm, soft, tan, fur. Like a flash the Lucario turned around making the boy feel his chest spike and kicks him lightly on the stomach. Before the blow landed, the boy blocks the hit with his elbows. Even though the kick was weak it, was powerful enough to tear his sleeves apart showing his white skin bruised red by the kick. The boy stands there, unmoved by what happened, he was not afraid of the beast, it was more that the beast was afraid of him.

"Who are you?" Lucario asks. They boy looks that the Pokémon with confusion. "Did you speak?"

"Do you see anyone else?" The boy closes his eyes then opens them again. "I guess it was my image-" The Lucario interrupted, "No,no it's not I can speak with you with telepathy. Now going back to my question, Who are you?"

 "I'm Zion, D-do you have a name?"

"I am Connan." Zion smiles and got closer to Connan then sits next to him. Connan was both curious and puzzled that the boy, he gets up hastily then fell to his knees, feeling that he opened up his wounds. The boy rapidly came to his aid with the  bandages. "Please careful, you can stay here if you wish." Connan looks that Zion, he was shocked and impressed of his kindness.

Connan, only known humans to be violent monsters that kill out of pleasure but for the first time he was wrong. "T-thank you." Zion helps the Lucario up. "You'll have to stay here till your gashes heal, you'll be sleeping on the second floor is-" Connan interrupted again, "Thank you for your kindness but I must take my leave." That was a lie, Connan knew there was no where to go. He wanted to be alone to dwell in his self pity. Zion interrupted.

"Please, stay. Not for me but my father's hunting group is going around town and they'll kill you, no doubt."

Connan looks that the boy, then their eyes meet. He felt a feeling of worry in the boy's green eyes. "Fine, I'll stay." Zion pats the Lucario's  head. Zion shows Connan to a ladder and pointed at the suspended platform that was visible from the ground. "That's where you'll be sleeping if that fine with you." Connan says nothing and ascends up the ladder. Zion makes his retreat outside, leaving Connan.

Zion went straight back home to lay his tried head on his bed. Connan looks out the small window of the bran and stares into the moon fantasizing about his mate. Then just now the thought crossed his mind, what has become of his child, is there some way he's still alive or did he fall victim to the massacre. Connan howls that the full moon, hoping his son will hear his plead. A howl replay but it was not the howl of his so but a how trying to comforting him. He howls back in thanks and says to himself, "Thank you who ever you are thank you."
