Our Sickness
#12 of Poems and Such
Another poem by me which turned into a song. Go figure.
I once walked with the best, my head held high
We pushed further into the cold dead of night
We had fought hard and still we pushed on
And when the night had faded we looked forward to the new dawn
I know I'll never be the same again
But here I stand, my heart had been stained
With the taste of tragedy, came the bitter truth of war
I think of what I'm fighting for
I know I'll never be the same again
What is there to feel besides the pain?
With a taste for victory, my life torn apart by war
I know peace is what I'm dying for
Its our sickness, when push comes to shove
When your staring down, the barrel of my gun
Taste my hatred, for what I hold true
And know, I saved this shot for you
It's a calming dream shattered by gunfire
Piecing together the decimated remains
Carrying the broken pieces I hold tight my desires
Into the fight I'm down again
I ask none to bare my shame
What is the truth am I insane?
Another day, another way to kill the pain
And with the new dawn, came another reason to remain
It's my curse, my own design
Its what I like, death by my own mind
A shattered soldier, I never asked for more
I am the end, I am your war
Its our sickness, when push comes to shove
When your staring down, the barrel of my gun
Taste my hatred, for what I hold true
And know, I saved this shot for you
Your name just another mark upon my soul
I never hold back I just let it flow
And know another enemies dead
I stand among the few who are left
I know I'll never be the same again
But here I stand, my heart had been stained
With the taste of tragedy, came the bitter truth of war
I think of what I'm fighting for
I know I'll never be the same again
What is there to feel besides the pain?
With a taste for victory, my life torn apart by war
I know peace is what I'm dying for
Bring me, a quick death
Leave me, a dying mess
Feed me, my atrocity
Show me death by high velocity
Covered in blood I still remain
An unknown soldier on this plain
Bring me down if you can
This is it, time to make my stand
I am all that's left
Death a gift I kindly accept
In the name of honor
I'll fight and die by the hands of war
