Country Life
#11 of Poems and Such
Me doing something along the lines of country music.
Nothing you can say or do would ever cause me to change my ways
I love the country life and the thunder that echoes across the plains
Its music to my ears when I hear George Strait on the radio
Or when the national anthem is sung at a rodeo
Bring me a beer from the cooler and don't forget my Marlboro
It's almost time for the Fourth of July's fireworks show
So dust off your boots and get on my pick-up truck
Together we'll hit the bar and if we have any luck
We'll drink our blues away until they close the bar
because country life is too short to be spent driving some fancy car
When did Budweiser stop being the King of beers? Can you tell me that?
And why are older women called cougars when we all know their not cat's
So hand me a beer and play another country song
We'll drink the night away to "Tuesday's Gone"
You can take a person out of the country but you can't take the country out of a person
At least we like to think that when beer hasn't clouded our vision
So dust off your hat and get on my pick up truck
Slap on some Seager and we'll test our luck
Say here I am, On the road again, There I am drunk at the bar
Country life is too short to be spent driving some fancy car
