Chapter 1- An Unexpected Guest
"Spike, are you sure you didn't see who gave us this book?" Twilight asked one night.
"I told you Twilight, I found it just lying on the ground in front of our door with no pony in sight," Spike answered while shelving away a large stack of books, "What's the big deal about it anyway? It's just a book, right?"
"It's not just any book Spike, this is a book of the history of Equestria. What's strange though is that it has a chapter in it about a long lost tribe of ponies called the Pure Ones."
"Sounds kinda creepy if you ask me."
"Well, I think I'll ask Zecora about it tomorrow. She might know something about them since the ruins are in the Everfree forest."
Just then, a rapid knocking sounded from the door, scaring Spike and making him fall from a ladder into a pile of books.
"Twilight, open up! It's me, Applejack!"
Twilight rushed to the door to open it. "Applejack, what's wrong?"
"This is what's wrong," Applejack said with a worried look on her face. She turned to show a feeble looking colt lying across her back, seemingly unconscious. He had a light-grey coat of fur with a shaggy, black mane covering his forehead and his right eye. He seemed to be the same age as Twilight and her friends, but she couldn't see a cutie mark on his flank.
"Oh my gosh, bring him inside, quickly," Twilight ordered, "Put him on my spare bed."
Applejack did as she was told, gently setting him down on the bed across from Twilight's. Spike had already come up to see what was happening.
"What's wrong with him?" Spike asked, "Is he going to be okay?"
"I don't know," Twilight answered, "Applejack, what happened?"
"I don't know, I just found him like this outside my barn a while ago and he hasn't even moved since I found him!"
"Well, let's just hope that he's okay," Twilight said as she laid a hoof on the colt's head. Just as she touched him though, a bolt of energy surged through her, making her gasp in pain and quickly pull her hoof away.
"What's wrong?" Spike asked.
"Nothing, it was just static," She answered, not so sure of what it was herself.
"Hey, what's that on his forehead?" Spike asked with an inquisitive look on his face.
"Maybe it's an injury, or a bruise?" Applejack inferred as she brushed the colt's hair out of the way, "That's no bruise."
Applejack was right. The colt's forehead seemed to have four empty circles arranged in a diamond shape on it. Twilight gasped as she realized something about that mark.
"What is it Twilight?" Spike asked.
"I've seen that mark before," Twilight answered, "It's one of the markings of the Pure Ones!"
"One of the what now?" Applejack asked.
"Here," Twilight said as she used her magic to hold the book in front of Applejack on the last chapter, "Read this, I just got it today."
"Whoa Nelly. Twilight, are you seriously considering that he could be a Pure One?" Applejack asked after quickly reading the short chapter. Just then, the mysterious colt groaned and started to open his eyes.
"Only one way to find out," Twilight answered, looking towards the colt.
Everyone gasped as they saw the colt's eyes. They were silver.
After a few small coughs, in a weak voice, he asked, "Where am I?"
