Three weeks later

Monika woke slowly. There was intense pain in her ribs and crotch, and she couldn't move. She had no idea where she was, but knew she couldn't be in the motel. The lights were too bright. Then she heard the beep. She was in the hospital. She tried to move her head, to look around, but the tube in her throat kept her from doing so.

The doctor was there within an instant. He was a kind looking rabbit, but Monika struggled to get away from him anyway. His smile turned to a look of concern as he called out to a nurse. A woman joined them, touching Monika's shoulder softly and cooing. Monika couldn't really understand what they were saying, their words were garbled. She felt like she was under water. The doctor left, the panda nurse smiling down at her, trying to speak. Monika didn't understand her, and drifted back into sleep.

The panda was still there when she woke again. The lights were dimmer, and she still had the tube in her throat. She moved her arm, reaching for the plastic tube and tape. She wanted it out, wanted to move.

"No, no dear, don't touch that." The panda's voice was as warm as her eyes. Her soft touch took Monika's arm and layed it back at her side. "The doctor will be in soon, and we can go from there, okay?" Monika started to cry again. She didn't want the rabbit to come back. Honestly she didn't want any man to come into the room. She simply wanted to die.

As promised, the doctor returned. He smiled at Monika, who once again tried to back away. She didn't want him to touch her. He looked down at her and she closed her eyes, sobbing once again, tears running down her face and dropping on the pillow.

"There, there." He spoke, and his voice was soft. Slowly the memories of that night flooded back to her. She wanted to scream and began to struggle again. "Calm down, now!! You are going to hurt yourself." She felt his paw, on her shoulder, and she tried to scream again. The nurse joined him, holding her other shoulder.

"Calm down sweetie." She spoke, smiling at Monika. "Everything is going to be okay! Doctor Lapin here is going to help you, don't you worry." With a free hand the large nurse petted Monika's hair, humming softly and trying to sooth the frightened snow leopard. Then she heard his voice again.

"We are going to remove the tube from your throat. I need you to lay perfectly still." She saw him wrap his paw around the tube and she struggled again. His paw and the nurse pressed down on her again. "Now now, you need to work with us, not against us miss!" The panda was humming again. Monika tried to relax. How could she tell them this would be easier if he wasn't around?

"Alright now sugar. Close your eyes. That will make this eaiser." The panda was still petting her hair. Monika did as she was asked. "There now, deep breaths. In, out. In, out. Very good. Now, on three. One, Two, Three!"

Monika felt the rigid plastic pull free from her maw and she let out a scream which was interrupted by a fit of coughing. She opened her eyes, seeing the tube in the hands of the doctor and a mask coming down over her face. Oxygen. Monika wanted to scream again.

"Calm down now, sugar. You are going to be fine. Just breath." The panda was talking again. Her voice was so sweet and calming. Monika couldn't help but listen to her and do as she said. "That's the way. Deep breaths now. Good." The nurse smiled at Monika, then pulled the mask away. "How do you feel?"

"Where am I?" The snow leopard asked, trying to move her head and look around. Immediately she was met with pain in her neck and stopped.

"You are at San Carlos Hospital."

"How did I get here?" She asked, her voice starting to turn raspy and panicked.

"You were found in a motel room outside of town. You were naked, tied to the bed and bleeding. You were almost dead. Thank God the housekeeper found you."

"What do you mean almost dead?" Monika could feel her mind slipping again.

"Hush now. No more questions. Sleep." The nurse ran a hand down over Monika's eyes, and she drifted off again quickly.

She spent another week with breif moments of conciousness. Slow she pieced together what had happened. She had fainted when Rodolpho's tiger buddy had pressed into her from behind. They had finished their game with her after an hour, ejaculating in her tail hole, on her face and stomach, leaving her a mess. They came back several hours later, the lizard and Doberman proceeding to rape her again, Rodolpho sitting off to the side watching.

After a full day and night of being kept tied up and raped, the foursome decided they had had enough fun and were going to leave. She was covered in semen from all four furs, and her tail hole and vagina were raw and bleeding. As the four left the room, Rodolpho decided that he wasn't going to risk them getting caught, and had stabbed her just below her right breast between the ribs. It had taken almost three hundred stiches to close the wound.

The tip of the knife had collapsed her right lung, and when the housekeeper found her the next morning, she had lost quite a bit of blood. She had immediately called 911 before the motel manager, and help transported her to the hospital. They found her drivers license in her purse that had been dumped in a garbage can outside the office door. Her parents had been notified and informed they didn't think Monika was going to live.

A rape kit had been run on her, and they results were being stored, needing her permission to process and forward on to the police. Monika agreed, though she adamantly refused to talk to a male officer. She told what she remembered to a female detective, who asked her questions and wrote the answers with a straight face.

It took another week for her to heal to a point they felt she could be relased. In that time, a counsoler had come to visit with her, and diagnosed her with Post Tramatic Stress. She had been awake for most of the rape, but had blocked it out, not lost conciousness until she had been stabbed. They informed her there was nothing they could do, but time would heal all.

Antonio and her parents were there to pick her up. They all smiled to see her, though she didn't return their enthusiasm. She had been raped and almost killed. Her beloved home of Buenos Aries, of Argentina had been spoiled for her. She knew they wouldn't catch Rodolpho or his friends. They had talked about leaving for Brazil in the car, but she couldn't bring herself to tell that to the police. She still loved him, despite all he had done.

The case they had been working on had been finished up while she was in the hospital. They had won. All her and Antonio's hard work had paid off, and their client had been paid a large settlement, giving the lawyer and his paralegal both large bonus checks. Antonio was ecstatic, but Monika couldn't bring herself to smile. She needed to get away. When Antonio told her the amount of the bonus, she knew just what she was going to do.

"I'm leaving Argentina." She announced a week later.

"What?" Her mother asked, almost dropping her tea cup.

"I'm leaving. I can't stay here anymore. There is too much fear, too many tainted memories for me here. I have to start over."

"This is just your disorder." Her father offered.

"No, papa. I have to do this. I can't heal here. I need the nightmares to stop." She motioned to the door. "My things are all packed. I have an apartment in Texas. Most of my things are already on their way there."

"Texas?" Antonio asked.

"Yes, Texas. United States. The land where anything can happen." At least she hoped.

"I'm moving too, then." Her cousin chimed. "I can open up my law firm anywhere and find work. You can continue to work for me." There was no discussion. Monika nodded.

"I must go now. My plane leaves in two hours." She turned to the door, picking up her suitcase. "I will write when I can." She spoke over her shoulder, opening the door. Monika stepped out, looking around. She hoped she was making the right choice. America would be a land to heal for her. A land of hope. And hopefully, a place for her to start anew, and maybe even find Love.
