For now I am leaving this story untitled, and until I can come up with one it shall stay that way. This is just a small prologue to help set up a plot for me to write with.

Lightening flared through the windows, briefly illuminating the darkned bedroom. James lay on his bed, the covers pulled up to his neck as he cowered under the blanket from the storm assaulting Goldenrod City. It was going to be the most violent one this season the reporter on his pokegear's radio said, but that the worst that would happen was some wind damage. Another flash tore across the sky causing James to fling the covers over his head in fright. Thunder shook the house's window soon after the lightening, and then left nothing but the steady patter of rain after it faded.

Out of nowhere came a soft cry, so soft in fact that at first James thought he was imagining it until it came again. Louder this time. Forgetting his fear, he tore off his covers and jumped from his bed to look out his window. Wiping the fog from the glass, he stared out into the streets of Goldenrod. Walking out there looking almost like a drowned Raticate was an Eevee. It seemed unaware of the rain, crying out its name over and over and its front right leg didn't seem to be able to hold it up as it put its weight down on it.

Grabbing his jacket from the headboard, James vaulted out his bedroom door and ran down the stairs. Forgetting his shoes, James unlocked the front door and sprinted outside into the pouring rain which soaked through his jacket and pajamas in an instant. The Eevee jumped when it heard the door slammed open but it didn't run. It just stood there, staring at James as he drew closer. As soon as he drew to only about a foot away from the pokemon, without warning it tackled him, knocking him into a puddle soaking him even more.

What surprised James even more was that the tackle wasn't even an attack out of aggression, because even as he sat there, the Eevee tried to snuggle up even closer to his body. Its entire body ran with chills and it didn't help that its brown fur had been completely soaked by the rain. Wrapping it in his jacket, he picked up the tiny pokemon and rushed it back to the warmth of his house.

James' parents, having heard the commotion, were already downstair as James shut the door behind him. Dripping wet, he walked pass them, carrying the shivering pokemon to their laundry room where he grabbed several dirty towels and dried the pokemon off. Almost as soon as the pokemon was dry it fell asleep on bedding of clothing James had made for it.

His parents could only look at each other in amazement as their eight year old son gently took care of the pokemon and completely ignoring them. They both sighed and went back upstairs knowing soon they would have to make arrangement for the addition to their family.
