- * The Children of the Dragon -- By Dravus Airwing We start this story in the Region of England known as Locksley.......home of the famous Robin Locksley (better known as Robin Hood) The Era of the said person has not long since past and the Castle of Locksley has been rebuilt The New Lord of Locksley is Lord Jacob Locksley......He is of no relation to Robin....but his surname allowed him to make claim to the land Lord Jacob brought is two children with him..........Luke and Laura Locksley.....Luke was aged 16 and Laura 15 Both Luke and Laura didn't follow their Father's way of thinking and behaviour Jacob was a mean person.......violent and full of malice, He constantly neglected his children.....ignoring their needs......just keeping them as an asset to his claim to the land Neither Luke or Laura had a violent bone in their body and despite their Father....They enjoyed themselves......playing in the gardens and spending hours on end looking out of a window out into the landscape beyond....dreaming of one day being able to be free of their father's grip on their lives Neither knew it.....But that dream would come true......in a way they would never of dreamed possible Our story begins as most days in Castle Locksley does......Terribly
- * "LUKE! LAURA! GET UP NOW!" their Father screamed up the stairs to them Luke woke first and quickly tossed the bed covers aside to get his sister up before their father had a reason to punish them "Laura wake up!" Luke pleaded to his sister Laura woke up....eyelids drooping as she was not totally awake "What is it Luke?" Laura asked with a tiredly "Father wants us awake.......and you and I both know what he'll do if he finds us still sleeping" Luke said....a hint of fear crept into his voice as he spoke Laura looked to the stairwell and swiftly got herself out of bed before her father did indeed catch them still in bed "Luke!...Go make your bed quickly!" Laura chided as she set about making her own Luke quickly make his bed for he didn't need telling twice, He knew the punishment for leaving an untidy bed..........it was nearly as bad as being caught sleeping Both were smoothing out the creases in the bed covers as they heard the footsteps coming up the stairwell and they quickly finished as the sounds reached the top.....it WAS their Father Jacob inspected the room as he always did....looking for a reason to give out punishment "Right you two......Downstairs and get your breakfasts then go do whatever till noon then be back here to ready my horse" "Yes Sir" Both piped quickly before bolting for the stairs to escape from their Father Once they arrived at the Hearth they poured out a sizeable amount of porridge to last them to noon It was Luke who was the first to eye the doors out and Laura knew why....Escape and find somewhere to hide till noon "Luke...Eat your porridge first......then run" Laura said before Luke managed to say something "I wish we could get away from him........anything would be better than this torture we are facing" Luke said sharply "I agree.......but where would we go?...It is about 15 miles to the nearest town and even then we'd be found out and brought back here" Laura said sighing Luke looked away from Laura to hide the tears forming "We have to get away from Father.....I'd rather die than stay here" Luke said without turning "Don't say that Luke!" Laura too nearly turned to tears on her brother's words Luke sat down to eat his porridge without further words Laura to ate her porridge, watching her brother with a certain empathy for she knew that he was right..........anything would be better than staying here.....even Death After Luke finished his porridge he went to a basin and washed the bowl and placed it on a rack to dry then made for the door Jacob put his hand on the door as Luke grabbed the handle, Luke let go of the door handle and backed away "You remember what I said Boy!?" Jacob demanded Luke nodded staying out of arm's reach of his Father "Good....now get out of my sight!" Jacob shouted at Luke letting go of the door returning to his study Luke grabbed the door handle and ran out of the castle.....unable to hide his tears from his sister Laura watched Luke close the door behind him, She quickly finished her porridge and washed her bowl quickly and placing it next to Luke's to dry Laura then left the Castle in search of her brother knowing that he couldn't of gotten far * * * Unbeknownst to the populace of the Locksley and Nottingham regions, they shared there home with a Creature that had been hunted for most of the medieval period....A Dragon This Dragon in particular was a Green......which most would class as a Dragon of poison or of the earth......This Dragon was neither The Dragon set it's home on the Locksley border.....Favouring the Locksley lands as it had been uninhabited for a good long while since the Castle was burned to the ground by the Sheriff of Nottingham and his Men Our Dragon had planned to set up a nest as our Dragon was a Female Her Name was Alarna and despite her breed.....she was a Caring and loving soul Greens were reputed to be vile and nasty Dragons.....Alarna wasn't Alarna was into her early adulthood and she was well built for one of her age Her muscles were well defined and her hide gleamed in health The only defining feature Alarna possessed was a single black scale on top of her head
- * Alarna was resting on her usual spot...a large grassy hill, blending into the scenery perfectly thanks to her colour Alarna was admiring the landscape as she always did She sighed to herself looking towards the skies....flexing her wings irritably as she was unable to fly lest she be discovered and hunted like so many she once knew Then another thought crept into her mind.......one she worked so hard to quell......Children Unable to remove this thought she dwelled on it.....She wanted children badly....but unable to fly she couldn't mate and thus conceive She saw many human families traveling together before.....Fathers and Mothers caring for their children, blissfully unaware of Alarna watching them and envying them Alarna sometimes could hear them from her great distance......the Mothers crooning to her babies doting on them.......the Fathers teaching the older lads how to look after things and fight in case of a thief Alarna would usually try to ignore them the best she could.....but her heart got the better of her and she usually wept at her loss But that was the past.....she recently discovered a pair of children near the Locksley castle whom constantly were in fear of their Father and always had Escape on their minds Alarna would keep watching them......slowly becoming attached to them as if they were her own, She knew they were not but she couldn't help it There was one such event that clinched it.......there was a pack of wolves coming out of a nearby Wood......and from their thoughts.....the Wolves were hunting the Children Alarna acted without first thinking......intercepting the wolves without being seen and killing them all without mercy, only after she did this did she realise how attached she had become All Dragon mothers would kill to save their children and Alarna was no different After Alarna's kill she felt smug and happy at her actions.....she then took it upon herself to care for the two human children without them knowing she was doing so And today Alarna picked up on their sad thoughts as she did everyday......the same thoughts were always one the children's minds.....Escape Alarna got up from her sunbathing and silently moved around the hill to overlook Locksley castle.......blending in the grass completely Alarna then picked up the most distressing thought her protectees ever had........the single thought of death.....suicide Alarna was torn.....move to them and be discovered or stay and worry endlessly Alarna knew she couldn't do either, but she did move and slowly walked towards Locksley castle It was then that everything would change in both the Children's and Alarna's life Alarna stayed as low as she could, moving silently through the grass She spotted Luke in the distance and she stopped moving and watched him closely Luke had been running for a good while......this time determined to escape, but he didn't know that his sister was looking for him and neither did he know that his protector Alarna was watching over him as well Luke stopped running to recover his breath and he looked back to Locksley castle......a look of disgust spread across his face already marred by mud from repeated falls He then spotted his sister in the distance.......She was following him and he didn't know "Laura?!.....what are you doing?" Luke said to himself He begun pacing as we watched her walking after him.....then he looked back at the castle and saw several horsemen running out......no doubt after them both "LAURA!!.....RUN!!" Luke bellowed down the hill Alarna looked towards where Laura was running and she knew that she wouldn't make it and she moved down the hill staying low to not alert Luke Laura barely heard her brother's shout but she heard the word "run" and she looked back and saw several horseriders galloping after them both Laura broke into a run not wanting to go back.....not after what they are doing and will get punished severely for Alarna had moved out of Luke's sight and broke into a run herself running down the hill towards her child.....but she knew she couldn't carry her and still be able to run.......and the fright alone would make things worse Alarna then wept as she would be forced to eat the child......if only to get her to safety Alarna knew the child would be safe within her as her stomach was built differently anyway.....there was a sac just before the sphincter to her stomach....she could use it to hold her child in knowledge that Laura would be safe.....but Alarna thoughts were not about Laura safety....but her mind.....this would shock her greatly.......the fright alone could hurt her Alarna couldn't allow her children anymore pain from their Father and she would do anything to prevent their capture.....even if it meant eatting them Alarna was getting close and she choked back further tears before increasing her speed and prepared to eat Laura Lucky for Alarna....Luke's sight would be impeded by a dip in the landscape and thus hiding Alarna's act from his sight Alarna had Laura in her sights and she set her mind solid on the fact that this would help Laura in the long run Alarna opened her maw to ready to devour Laura and in doing so Laura saw her and stopped running and froze solid......her face deadly white expecting Death Alarna scooped Laura into her mouth and quickly swallowed the child and kept running to get away before she was spotted by the riders coming up the hill Once the riders reached the top of the hill they stopped and milled around at the top of the hill...looking for Laura Luke couldn't understand it......Laura should be there and yet the riders obviously couldn't see her.....and when they turned around and returned to the castle Luke started back to locate his sister When he reached the top of the hill overlooking the dip he couldn't find her and he was worried "Laura?!.....Where are you?!" Luke bellowed down into the dip Luke then moved down into the dip....and saw deep claw marks in the soil.....running right through the dip and down into a field "LAURA?!!......LAURA!!!!" Luke yelled at the top of his lungs Alarna was nearby and she wept readily clutching her belly with her child inside Alarna couldn't stop herself......she walked around and back into the dip......tears streaming down her scaled cheeks Luke was frozen to the spot......seeing a Dragon was the last thing he'd expected but seeing how Alarna was holding her belly made everything start to fall in place "Luke?......I am very sorry about this" Alarna said in her rich voice...her voice like silk on the ears "Who........who are you?!" Luke said fearfully "My name is Alarna.........I am very sorry about this but I had to!" Alarna said choking back more tears Seeing the Dragon weep brought a great amount of sympathy from Luke and he slowly approached the large Green "What did you do that makes you want to apologize?" Luke asked keeping a high amount of respect in his voice "You'll hate me for this greatly........I ate your sister to keep her from getting caught by the horse riders" Luke was wide-eyed and he sunk to his knees.....his eyes slowly going blank and tears forming in his eyes "Laura........no......NO!!....HOW DARE YOU!!" Luke said with anger Luke lost control and ran up to the Dragon and beat against her chest unable to see sense Alarna didn't fight back....she deserved it.......But then she realized "Luke.....she is not dead......please believe me........I didn't kill her.......she is still alive" Alarna pleaded to the enraged Luke "Still........alive?" Luke said all confused while backing away now realizing what he was doing "Yes........I would never harm my children" Alarna said without realizing her own words "your children?!..........you consider me and Laura your children?!" Luke said completely bewildered and shocked......but yet, with a hint of pleasant surprise "Yes I do......I have watched you both for many months.......cared for you while you were wandering the plains" Alarna explained Alarna then realized what she forgot to do and lay her head against the floor.....reversing the flow in her throat....bringing Laura back up "What are you doing?......what's wrong?!" Luke asked in worry having lost all fear of the Dragon towering over him Alarna opened her mouth and Laura came sliding out of her Seeing her brother she got up quickly and hid behind him "Keep that dragon away from me Luke!" Laura screamed in Luke's ear Alarna wept again knowing this would happen.......to be hated for her actions despite the fact she had saved Laura from a far worse fate Luke ignoring his sister moved over to Alarna and held her great head and soothed her "It's OK, Mother" Luke said calmly "You.........You called me Mother!" Alarna said choking back another set of tears......her heart leapt in joy as she finally gained a child.....even if the child is not a Dragon child, it was a child all the same "Yes......I did........you are the only Parent that even cares about us" Luke said warmly "Luke!!.....What are you doing?!" Laura demanded seeing her brother calling the very Dragon that ate her....mother "Laura......do you not realize with she has done for you.........we have escaped from Father at last and we have a Mother......This Dragon has been caring for us while we have been out here.....and she saved you from Father's troops.......do you not see?" Luke said It took time for Laura to understand it but seeing her brother happily embracing the Dragon towering over him she saw the love between them......and she recalled that the Dragon was weeping not long after eating her "Mom?" Laura finally said Alarna wept again....but this time in joy......she finally has children of her own Laura got up slowly and moved over to Alarna and once Laura's fingers touched Alarna's scales.....Laura couldn't help but embrace the Dragon also "My children!" Alarna beamed and embraced them both to her chest Alarna looked around and realised the danger they were still in and the thudding of galloping horses spiked her to do something "You two.....we have to run........I think your Father is coming" Alarna said, her voice shaking as she didn't want to lose her children now she had them Luke was the first to act and he stroked Alarna's lower jaw "Then eat us......like you did for Laura before.......and carry us inside you" Luke said without a hint of fear in his voice.....his voice carried encouragement "Yes.....you must eat us Mother......in fact I like it in there....so warm and soft" Laura said with a blush Alarna nearly wept again as her children readily gave her permission to eat them Alarna didn't spend a moment to ponder the decision and she quickly scooped them into her mouth and this time her body responded differently......she savoured the feel of her children inside her mouth When Alarna swallowed them both.....she gasped in pleasure and her body became warm and she felt complete Alarna quickly ran off....not wanting her children's vile Father to ever get his hands on them ever again.......they were her's and no-one else's now Once Alarna got a far enough distance from the hills and returned to her usual place of rest she settled gently on her side and gently rubbed her belly and feeling her children under her scales.....Alarna called on her magic for the first time in ages and created a single use passage between her prestomach to her womb and gently fed both her children to the safest place she knew.........once they both were snuggled gently inside her womb she destroyed the passage she used to get them there Her body flared in warmth and she did not do anything more but carry her brood for as long as they desired Mother and children......united under the strangest of circumstances To live as a family should......with love and care! -- END --
