The Bouncer. Part 4

With direction from Lance we arrive back at his home, which appears to be a modern three story detached town house, however, the house and the gardens do not seem as they would be owned by Lance, I mean let's face it Lance is on the exterior at least, a hardnosed, no shit taking Doberman, if you see him for the first time walking towards you on the street, you would cross the road to get out of his way.

And yet, the same house and gardens DO seem to fit the Doberman within, in the short time that I have known him I have seen nothing but care and love in his heart, the house and gardens show the same care and love, the lawn is exquisitely manicured, the paint on the outside walls of the house, lovingly refreshed.

I shut off the Maloo's engine and slowly exit the truck, my eyes never leaving the beauty of the house and grounds; I hear the passenger door open, and the sound of a quite chuckle.

"Well, it ain't much, but it's all mine, well I mean ours. If you like the outside, I'm pretty sure the inside will blow your mind"

Lance takes his keys form his bloodstained jacket pocket and he unlocks the door, I let out a gasp as I slowly enter the house, Lance follows me inside and then closes the door behind him, he removes his boots and leaves them on a mat by the door, he then removes his jacket and hangs it up on the solid oak coat rack.

After a few seconds I slowly follow suit, removing my own boots, stab vest and under jacket, I hang my two jackets next to Lance's on the coat rack and then I turn to him.

"Sweetheart, you have an incredible place here"

Lance chuckles again.

"Jake, you have only seen the outside, and the hallway inside, there is so much more to the place, but I will give you the tour tomorrow, for now this Doberman feels as though he has fought fifteen rounds with Mike Tyson and lost, so I'm going to crash out on my bed, you can either join me, or you can use one of the spare rooms for tonight"

As tempting as Lance's offer of sharing his bed was, I elected to take the spare room next to his bedroom, oh sure I'm no prude, but getting into the sack with a guy I just met was pushing things a little too far even for me.

I enter one of the spare rooms, my eyes feeling heavy, the bed in the room is bare, no sheets or pillows adorn it, but right now I couldn't care less, I flop down to the bed and I am asleep before my head hits the mattress.

I'm woken up a few hours later by the sound of a deep chuckle; it's a chuckle that I know pretty well.

"You know Jake, there is a wooden chest at the end of the bed that has the necessary pillows and sheets to make the bed, and surely it would have been more comfortable than just sleeping on the bare mattress"

My playful mind wakes up unfortunately for Lance as I give him my answer.

"To be honest Lance, I was just so tired that I didn't bother with bed decoration, and don't call me Shirley (surely)"

Lance holds his belly as he laughs heavily recognising as he does a quote from the comedy movie, "Airplane"

"I see that a certain Rottie loved the late, great Leslie Nielsen in the Airplane movie, well I can't be mad at you for that, it just so happens to be one of my favourite movies too. Now, get your sexy ass off that bed and I will treat us to a breakfast, the likes of which I will guarantee that you have never tasted before"

Well who can refuse an offer like that from a stunning and sexy Doberman, most certainly I can't, and so I wearily rise up from the mattress and we both head downstairs. We arrive at the door mat and put our boots back on. The weather outside is glorious, the sun is shining and there is not a cloud in the sky. As we head towards the truck Lance holds out his paw and asks me for the truck keys, as I have no idea of where we are heading I hand over the keys.

Lance takes the keys from my paw and he unlocks the truck, we both park our butts in the bucket seats and he fires up the engine, with the doors closed and our safety belts on, we begin the drive to our mysterious destination. After an hour of driving, Lance lets out a sigh.

"Damn it, I forgot one thing that I need to do"

Without anymore words he pulls over to the side of the road and applies the parking brake, he then fishes a blindfold from his jacket pocket and leans over towards me.

"Sorry babe, but I'm gonna have to blindfold you, I don't want to ruin the surprise for you"

I tilt my head a little in confusion but I offer no resistance as I have complete trust in what Lance does.

"Lance, babe will I like the surprise?"

Lance giggles at me and replies.

"You better, because the place I'm taking you to is very special to me, the only other furs to see this place other than you are my parents, I promise you this much though, the surprise is nothing to be afraid of"

Lance slowly and gently wraps the blindfold around my head so that it covers my eyes completely, and then we continue our journey.

We have been driving for a short while since our unscheduled stop; my guess is about fifteen to twenty minutes, suddenly the sound of the asphalt road under the tires changes to one of a dirt road sound. Even though the blindfold is covering my eyes I can still make out the change from light into darkness, and since we started out early morning that rules out the fact that it is now night, so my deduction leads me to the conclusion that we are under cover somewhere, I try to sniff the air to see if I can gauge the area that we are in, but Lance it seems has already thought of that and has disabled the electric windows to prevent any tell tale smells reaching my nostrils.

Finally, after another few minutes we come to a stop, Lance unfastens both of our safety belts and then he exits the truck and walks around to the passenger side to help me out of my seat. It's now that I get my first clues as to our destination, my nose picks up the fresh aroma of pine trees and my ears pick up the song of the birds, so we are in a forest somewhere, but why?

Lance takes hold of my right hand paw and leads me across the forest floor, suddenly we come to a stop and Lance begins to untie my blindfold.

"Close your eyes for a moment babe and then open them slowly to allow them to adjust to the light"

I do as Lance asks and slowly open my eyes, what meets my view can only be described as breathtaking, a beautiful log cabin surrounded by a forest of pine trees, my jaw drops open at the sheer beauty of the place, the only sound that can be heard is the sound of the birds and the soft and gentle breathing of me and Lance.

"Lance, it...it...it is beautiful"

Lance solemnly nods his head; it's plain to me that there is some painful story behind this idyllic looking cabin.

"This place used to be the family holiday home, a place where we could get away from the rat race for a week or two, but after they died six years ago in a boating accident, it became a place of solitude, a place where I came to remember and to grieve. I wanted to bring you here because I want the place to become synonymous with love and not grief and regret"

A stray tear falls from Lance's right eye and I gently lean in and lick it away, it's then that his stoic pride kicks back in as he wraps an arm around my neck.

"Well babe, I don't know about you, but I'm hungry, the cabin is fully stocked as I was only here last weekend, so why don't we head inside and I will treat you to bacon and eggs a la Silver"

Lance fishes the door key from his jacket pocket and then leads me to the cabin. Once inside I see that the cabin is a simple one, but functional none the less, no TV's, no internet, hell the only phones we have are our mobiles, but that kind of works for me because it means that we can make our own entertainment.

We fully enter the cabin and Lance closes the door, he flips a switch and the inside of the main room is bathed in a soft light, he then heads over to a log burning stove and opens the firebox.

"Sweetheart, would you do me a huge favour? Outside, behind the cabin is a log store which holds my store of logs which I use for heating and cooking, be a dear and bring three in please"

Who was I to argue, I was after all getting a fresh, home cooked breakfast out of it, so it is only right that I work for it. I head out to the wood store and collect three logs, I carry them back into the cabin but find no sight of Lance, I can however hear his voice, it seems to be coming from what I guess is one of the bedrooms, I gently lower the logs to the floor in front of the stove and then I make my way towards the sound of Lance's voice.

I get to the doorway of the room where his voice is louder, and I'm about to knock on the door when I hear my name mentioned, and so I stand there and listen to the rest of what is said.

"...Mum, Dad, I know that you knew that I was gay, I know to that you loved and supported me, I also know that you wished that I would find someone to love and live with, well guys, I think that Jake IS that someone, he is a Rottweiler, he's good looking, but more than that, he is so very kind and gentle, and I love him so very much, I know that you would love him as much as I do if you were here, I just pray that you will continue to love and support me, well us now, I miss you guys so very much"

Tears fell from my eyes as I heard the sweet things that he was saying about me, but hearing the fact that he had stopped talking I quickly headed back to the cabins main room, once there I started loading the stoves firebox with the logs, tears still streaming from my eyes, what I hadn't realised was that Lance was standing behind me and could see me crying.

"Why are you crying Jake?"

I jump out of my skin as I hear his voice and start rapidly trying to hide the fact that I'm crying by wiping my eyes on my jacket sleeve, but Lance has already seen my tears and hugs me tight.

"Jake, what the hell, did you hurt yourself with the logs, or did you see something outside that scared you?"

I shake my head and then I try to form my sentence.

"I...I'm sorry L...Lance, I didn't mean to listen in..."

A look of realisation floods across his muzzle, I stand there and wait for the yelling to start, or the slap to my face, but they don't come, instead as I look up at Lance's face I see a small and gentle smile.

"Well, the room I was in used to be where my mum and dad would sleep, and so when they died I placed a framed photograph of them on the wall, and now whenever I'm here I stand in front of the photo and talk to them, I guess you could say that I feel as though they are still with me, and I want them to know everything that goes on in my life, so it was only right that I told them about you"

Lance then kissed me on the cheek before continuing.

"I know that had they been here now, they would love you just as much as I do, and they would be happy to see you stand at my side"

I hug the loving Dobie back tightly before we separate allowing Lance to begin our breakfast. I have never felt love like this before, and as I stand there watching Lance at work, I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with him.
