Exhaustion. Fatigue. Hunger. Each feeling was present as I threw one foot paw in front of the other, inhaling and exhaling at a steady pace. I pushed forward, breaking the limits the body sets, with sweat dripping from my short grey-ish fur.

The sun peeked over the horizon, a beam of light shined over parts of earth, and to my dismay, my face, causing me to stop in my tracks and shield my eyes. The musky condensation coming from my body just fell to the ground beneath as I stood there.

If you must know, my name is Drake, and I am a wolf/tiger hybrid, standing five foot ten inches, and weigh around one hundred-sixty pounds, a good size for a fourteen year old. My fur is grey, but at times it can confuse others, most people mistaken it for white, especially because of the stripes I have on my arms, back, and legs. They look at me and see a white tiger, not a grey hybrid.

But that's enough about me, let's get into what's important. I live in a small town, Madison. Madison is small, compared to the rest of the world, but not tiny. It held a mall, few shopping centers, Wall-Mart, a park, and the usual fast food places: Burger Queen, Mr. Donald's, and other big franchises, but not many.

I stood on a hill and gazed over the town. I was on my morning jog, and I guess distant and time escaped me, because now I was on the outskirts of town.

The sun continued to rise until it was overhead, shining it's light over Madison. I looked down to see the town, almost dead with it being so early in the morning. Only a few cars could be spotted, and even fewer furs. The town would be busy soon -very busy.

Today was the start of school for our little town. It was weird, such a small town had few attractions, but when it came to education, Madison excelled. The elementary was small; middle school was the size of your average high school, but the High School... It almost looked like a mall itself. The building was five stories high, containing hundreds of classrooms, a basement gym that looked as if you needed a membership to join, an in and outdoor swimming pool, football field, basketball court (in and outdoor), two tennis fields, and a baseball field. Best school in the state of LiNoise.

It was every kid's dream to grow up and attend Madison High, and I was finally going to live it. Today was the start of my freshmen year, a new school year, in a new school, so the excitement was pretty high.

The sun was overhead, that could only mean school would start soon. I turned away from the town and began a steady jog home -I didn't want to be late on my first day.

When I arrives home I hopped in the shower, shampooing my fur with a nice scented soap. The first day of school was always the best, and most memorable. It's the time to smell good, dress nice, and impress peers.

Once I stepped out of the shower it was time to put on something decent. I walked from the bathroom into my room. The room wasn't anything special, just your average teenage sleeping quarters. It consisted of a bed placed in the center, dresser with a 32 inch LCD occupying the PS3 next to it, a nightstand, desk with my laptop on it, and a closet.

I walked over to my bed, sitting next to an outfit I had placed there before my jog. It wasn't anything major, just a pair of black Levi Jeans, a white shirt with "High Life" plastered in it in green letters and a marijuana plant in the center, with a pair of black and white Air Jordan's. I slipped into the clothes, starting with my pants, shoes, then shirt.

Once everything was put on the correct parts of my body, I grabbed my laptop, cellphone, backpack and jetted out of my room, down the stairs, and out of my home.

As I walked down the street, headed for school, I looked down at my watch to see the time "8:05". School wouldn't start for another twenty minutes, though the walk was only a five minute time, taking a shortcut. I decided to take the long way, it would give me a five minute interval between arrival and class.

I took this way because my cousin, or what some furs like to call my brother, lived in the area -Caleb. Caleb and I were in the same grade, but I was the oldest by a few months. Furs say we are brothers, always arguing against something they know nothing of.

A few minutes breezed by before was on the block which my cousin lived. Once in front of his house, he walked out, holding a notebook, occupied with a spiderman backpack. The wolf/tiger hybrid walked down a small walkway to meet me at the sidewalk passing in front of his home.

The hybrid was the exact same breed as myself, both having identical features, fur color, facial expressions, and even voice. Everyone always told us we were twins, but we knew the truth. Our birthdays were different, and we had different mom's.

"Dude, you're just in time!" Caleb said as he made his way over, sticking his paw out. We did a handshake, and began walking.

"Exhausted man... just finish with my ten mile jog..."

Caleb guffawed and reach in his pocket, fishing around in it. He pulled out a lighter, following a short, white, stick-like object. I knew exactly what he had in his paw -a joint.

"Hey man! We can't go to with that..." I said waving my paws at it. He lit the joint's tip and inhaled deeply, the end of the paper glowed.

Caleb let out the smoke and coughed.

"Don't be such a bitch." He said, handing the joint to me. I shrugged and apprehended it.

"Fuck you..." I inhaled the joint. "I thought we smoked all of this yesterday?"

Caleb grinned, showing a few of his sharp teeth.

"We did, but I couldn't go to school on the first day sober." I shook my head, a little disappointed in him for buying something without me.

I took another hit of the joint before passing it to him and almost coughing up a lung. The effects of the plant was starting to kick in as everything became brighter. My legs shook a little, it was getting harder to keep my balance. I could only imagine what we were smoking.

"So you're ready for today, ey?" I asked.

Caleb inhaled and blew out smoke in my direction. He grinned his toothy grin again, looking at me with his hazel eyes.

"Of course!" Caleb took in more of the marijuana. "Do you have any idea how many chicks are going to be there!? The school alone is huge, think about the number of girls..."

"I know dude!" A loud cough escaped my muzzle, an echo could be heard. "I'm...pretty...sure...we're going to have new chicks to come! Plus the juniors and seniors..."

"Damn right!" The joint was hit once more before Caleb put it out and placed it in his backpack.

We conversed for a bit longer about things going on in life like family, girl's we thought were hot, music, and the lot we smoked in the past, comparing and giving details about the highs. We both came to the conclusion that OG Kush was the best ever, then pulled out our phones. He retracted a Zoid, and I pulled my ePhone from my pocket. The rest of the way we just enjoyed our music.

The first day of school, it's always the best. You meet new people, make friends, learn if you're going to like a class, see friends you missed for months. It was a experience you enjoyed because on that day you would set your image, especially if it's your freshmen year of High school!

Students paced through the halls of Madison High, halls filled with hundreds of students. They all stood around with supplies in paw, talking to each other, comparing schedules, and catching up before the bell.

I walked through the halls of Madison high, a freshmen, with my head held high, higher than most. My name is Jakob, a wolf. I stand six feet high, being one of the tallest guys in my class. I had Carmel fur throughout my body, starting from my ears, ending with my tail, except my tail had a white tip.

Fur's say I have a big ego, and they are right. I stand tall, and my confidence is up with it. Star quarter back here, lead my team undefeated last year. As much as I hated tutting my own horn, I was only in the eight grade and even college recruiters came to see me play -I was that good.

Not only did I have the sports area wrapped around my paw, but was very popular with the school, especially the ladies. Every hot chick at this school wanted a piece of me, yet none had the opportunity. The most important thing to me was football, everything else came second.

"Heyy Jaaagob"

A random girl called my name. I smiled, nodded, and kept walking, heading for my class. Once I made it I found a desk in the classroom near a window. The room was decorated with timelines, past presidents, and books. I obviously had history first period.

The bell rang shortly after my arrival. Students emptied the hallways, all in a sprint to get to their next class. History filled up quick, my guess is the students stayed close so they would not be chewed out by the teacher.

Class began with the teacher walking in with a greetings!

"Hey class!" A short, spunky, female skunk said, walking in with a huge smile on her face. "I hope you guys enjoyed your summer, because that is in the 'past'." Her attempt to make others laugh failed horribly as each student just sat there or whispered to one another.

"Very well," She said. " My name is Mrs. Sterlin, and here are syllabi for the course."

She handed each fur in the room a syllabus, containing what everyone would need, assignments, and learning outcome. After everyone received one she gave a speech about what is and not allowed in class.

The rest of class was spent introducing ourselves and going around the room to find friends, or in Mrs. Sterline words, "Like Minded People". I didn't really fell the need to get to know other's, they all probably knew of me, and if not, they soon would.

I was just sitting there, kicked back in my chair, surveying the room, when someone disturbed my peace. A paw tapped me on the back, causing me to spin around and catch sight of a brown bear.

He wore a plain blue shirt with blue Levis. In his ear were two earings, both tiny diamonds. He was larger than most of the guys in the class to be a freshmen, but not bigger than myself. His arms, legs, and back showed definition, which meant he worked out. To be a bear, he looked very nice.

"Hey, I'm Brandon," He stuck a paw out and smiled, looking me directly in the eye.

I paused, or more like hesitated. The bear's eyes were... Perfect! They gleamed as a sparkle danced in the set of light brown spectacles. They were calm and friendly, without any hate behind them. He appeared to be one of the most carefree fur I've ever met.

I had to put myself together before speaking, amazed from the soothing pupils.

"Name's Jakob." I extended my paw. We shook paws and he took the desk next to me.

"Yeah, I know," He smiled once more. The bear looked like a super model, his teeth, smile, and eyes were just so perfect. If I didn't watch my back he could be major competition with the females.

"You're the Quarter back for the freshmen team... that's sort of why I came over to introduce myself."

"Yes I am." I said, sort of proud that people were actually keeping up with my career. "Hopefully by the end of the season the coaches will let me play varsity."

"That sounds like a big step."

"It is," I replied. "So what do you need?"

The bear smiled, but this time a hint of nervousness was present. He scratched the back of his head as he directed his attention to the floor.

"Well... My...ummm... Uncle wants me to play football," He began, still giving off a nervous scent. "Say I have to play a sport in high school because it's good for me, health wise."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," He shot his eyes back up, now gazing in mine once more. "I missed Spring Training and now I can't play! I'm really good, and... I was just wondering if you could talk to the coaches, ask them to make an exception?"

"Sure," I shrugged and faced forward, not wanting to look at his perfect features any longer. Even though I was a strong believer in the rules coaches set, something about him made me want to help out. Probably the light brown eyes.

"Thanks man!" Brandon stood up and walked away, smiling ear-to-ear.

For some reason the bear had captured my attention. I turned around and watched him walk away, with grace in each step. What was it about him that actually attracted me. I turned my attention to the front where our teacher sat.

"This year will be very interesting...."

Life was about the popular. If you weren't the popular kid, then why even attend high school. Your entire high school career should be about party's, dating the hottest guy, or even hooking up with the hottest guy's friend.

Long hair, lipgloss, perfect body... They just didn't make popular kids like they use to. I looked around the halls of Madison High in disgust, thinking to myself about who looks lame, and who is possibly dating material. To my dismay, none of these furs would do any good.

I stood at my locker, leaned back into it with my books in paw, waving my long blond hair. Guys who walked by paused to check me out -bingo!

The name is Amber. I'm a freshmen cheetah, with an attitude. I had long blond hair, with a perfect coat of fur, short and almost fluffy -not common on your average cheetah. Spots covered my orange fur, all being the same in length and width.

Attitude.

I had a lot of attitude, but others would say I'm sassy. No matter what people called me, the one thing they couldn't say is that I'm any where near ugly. Height wasn't my strong suit, but I made up for height with spunk.

Why was I like this? Well, since I could walk my mom had me in gymnastics, preparing me for cheer leading. In the end all the sweat, blood, and money paid off.

As I stood next to my locker, flicking my hair each time a cute guy walked by, the bell rang. I made my way to class, in regret. Second period had already rolled around and I didn't like the class -Algebra.

I was the last to enter the room, almost every desk full. All eyes were on me, as always. I just blushed, toyed with my hair a little, and found an empty desk. The desk I chose was next to a Lion and wolf-ish tiger or something, neither paid me any mind as I took my seat.

Class started.

A turtle came in and took his place behind a desk. He seemed very old, having grey hair and oily wrinkled skin. As he made it to the center of the room with a marker in his hand, "Mr. Angar".

"Class, I'm Mr. Angar." The turtle said, weakly, almost as it he wanted to die in the middle of class. "There won't be much work today... But... You will have homework. Someone pass out these worksheets, and you all come and receive a text... book."

The turtle randomly picked someone to help pass out the papers before turning to his desk to assign books. The class took this as a ticket to converse. The room filled itself with whispers and laughter.

There wasn't a recognizable face, since I was on the cheer leading squad my circle of friends were usually the girls. As I looked around there were none around, at least none were cheerleaders. Since I hated being the antisocial type, I turned to wolf, or whatever he was.

"Hey! I'm Amber!"

He looked in my direction, his eyes dark and calm, piercing my soul. He wore a white shirt with "High Life" written in the center. This had to be one of the 'To Cool for School' type.

With his eyes still aimed at me, he simply said, "So?"

My eyes almost popped out of my head. No one treated me this way, how dare he give me the cold shoulder. I snapped, losing my cool and launched at him.

"Excuse me! I was only being nice!" The hybrid turned his attention, facing forward, his eyes low and red.

"Look, I'm going to kick it to you like this, iight?" The guy never looked at me, even as he spoke. "You came to me expecting me to be grateful you said a few words, but you're no one... How about you settle down before you make a scene, and I embarrass yo' lil' ass."

"I-I..."

I was speechless. My mouth open, yet no words. This low life stoner kid had spoke out of term, especially to a person like me! I could make his life a living hell if I pleased. He didn't know who he was messing with.

"HOW..." A paw grazed my right shoulder. I turned my attention from the hybrid and looked at the fur on the opposite side -The lion. He was a smaller lion, barely five foot eight. Compared to other Lion's he would be considered a pipsqueak. The lion's mane had come in, but not as it should. Most people would say the guy had some growing up to do.

"Hey! Don't worry about Drake... He doesn't get along with anyone." The lion smiled so bright it lit up his face. "By the way, the Name's Tyran."

The feline could only bring out a smile from me. For his age, his voice was a little high pitched, only a little, and the illuminating smile he gave was cute, in a cub-cute sense.

"I'm Amber! It's nice to meet you Tyran!"

He chuckled and blushed, as his eyes shot to the floor and back to the front of the classroom.

"You're very pretty..." He said timidly.

A blush now stained my cheeks. I tried to hide it by covering my face and look off to the side, but I knew just about anyone could see the crimson covered face.

No one had actually called me pretty before, at least not the males. The usual comments were thrown at me: "Damn you fine" or "sexy" or that's one bad kitty!". That was the first time any guy had called me pretty. It kind of made me feel warm inside.

"T-thanks..."

He looked at me and smiled, exposing every canine in his muzzle.

"No problem... "Amber"."

The moment my name escaped his maw, Mr. Angar called me to sign off on a book. I went to the front of the room and took a book before giving him the number inside, then went back to my desk. Tyran and I talked for the remainder of the class. We compared schedules to find out algebra wasn't the only class we shared. Lunch and fifth period was also going to be spent with Tyran. I also learned that Tyran had an older brother who was a junior. The entire rest of the period was just me and Tyran talking and finally exchanging numbers once the bell rung.

We exited the classroom laughing and having a good time. It had been a while since a guy actually brought a smile to my face, and it felt nice around Tyran, like I could be myself.

He was sweet enough to walk me to my class. He said by, giving that cute little smile of his and turned away, strolling off to his third period. I watched him walk away, amazed. He was so much like myself.

Max

***

Deep down, everyone knows what the best part of the first day is... Seventh period! After a long, dreaded day all anyone ever want to do us to home and not think about school. All the excitement people had before first period had vanished, now wanting to plop down in their beds.

Lucky for me my final class of the day was PE/Weightlifting. Even though I was completely drained, I enjoyed the workout, I had to keep my body nice and fit.

My name is Max. I'm a Husky with black and white fur, standing five foot nine. Like most of the Husky species I had a very nice body, lean, muscular, almost no body fat. I kept good care of this body, usually working out five days a week.

A few girls behind me giggled and pointed in my direction, they enjoyed the sight of my sweat drenched shirt hugging my body, showing each line in definition. The chicks loved how tight my body was and how well I kept it in shape, but sadly none of them would ever be able to put paws on it.

I'm gay, a complete fag, yet it doesn't show. I had the body, voice, and looks of a straight guy, even the same desires and interest, yet I liked men. No one knew, except a friend of mine, but that's it. Furs could not tell that such a cute, hot Husky was a fag.

I grabbed a towel and wiped myself off, trying to clear as much sweat as possible before grabbing a pair of boxing gloves. I strapped them on each paw and looked up at a boxing ring. Standing inside was a friend of mine, Drake, a wolf/tiger hybrid, and a great boxer. I stepped inside the ring.

"So how has my favorite sparring buddy been?" Drake and I walked to the center of the ring and bumped gloves, quickly stepping back and out of harms way.

I covered my muzzle as I bounced around, throwing a few light jabs, nothing major. Drake dodged these with ease, as expected. He step in and landed a few jabs of his own.

"Just around, hanging with Brandon and all." I said, shortly before stepping into a punch, but landing one as well. We both separated and retreated to opposite sides.

"Heh, cool!" The hybrid swung a right hook barely missing my muzzle. I returned an attack, but it was dodged and my sides were attacked with three body shots. Drake jumped back, snickering.

"Hey, let's step up the pace."

I leaned against the ropes and sighed, shaking my head. I knew once he entered his boxing mode there was nothing to stop him from giving you a serious injury. I stepped out of the ring, panting.

"Naw... I got my workout for today..."

"Awwwh!" Drake whined and stomped a footpaw, resembling a cub. "There is still 40 minutes!"

I took off the gloves and threw them on a rack.

"I know. Going to the library for the Library Aid position..." I said, grabbing the towel from earlier.

Drake pushed a paw to his forehead and sighed. "You're such a nerd..."

I laughed as I walked away, flipping him off as I left.

In ten minutes I had showered and made my way to the library. This year was the start of everything. I had to make sure my transcript was complete for college. There was so much to do: sports, clubs, student council.

I may look like a jock, but deep down I'm actually a nerd. Since I can remember I have wanted to succeed in everything. I excelled in grades, shined in sports, and flattered anyone I met. It was all apart of my goal to one day be President of the WSA.

I walked into the library. It was bigger than I expected, and empty. At first glance it seemed like I was the only one here, but a fur was spotted in the back reading. I walked over to whoever. It was a jet black wolf, reading to himself, with a pair of large, cushioned headphones.

I got his attention by tapping the table. He looked up, removed the headphones, and simply said, "Hi."

"Hello, my name is Max, and I was looking for...."

"The librarians?" He interrupted.

"Y-yes..." I said, head cocked to the side.

He pointed to a seat next to him. "They're on a late lunch. Technical difficulties earlier caused a delay. They'll be back soon... By the way, I'm Taylor."

I extended a paw and he grabbed it, his handshake soft, yet firm. "Nice to meet you, Taylor. Do you know when they will be back?"

Taylor shrugged, placing his book down. "No clue. Not much longer I hope... Here for the Library Aid?"

"Yup!" I said.

"Cool! Me too," He grinned wide, showing off more of his features. It wasnt until he smiled when I saw how cute he was with his bright yellow eyes, and black coat of fur. He was tall, about my height, but not as defined as me. Even though his body didn't look like mine it still fell on the attractive side.

"I enjoy books, a lot, always reading." The book received a nice pat, as the wolf smiled and sighed contently. "Do you like to read or something?"

I shook my head, knowing exactly why I wanted this position. It was no where as deep and personal as the wolf's reason, but important, nonetheless.

"I want to do everything I can around school to put on my transcript, to be honest..."

"Neat! Good luck with that!"

Taylor stood up and placed the book he was just reading into a back pack before throwing it over a shoulder. He pushed his chair under the table before turning to me again.

"It was very nice meeting you, Max!" He said with so much joy, each word had its own excitement behind it. A paw was extended again. "Sorry for having to run out on you so quickly... I'm new Madison to and there's just so much for me to do! Can't wait for some hungry Librarians to get back..."

I grabbed his paw. "No big deal, it was nice meeting you as well. If you umm... need anything just ask. Maybe I could show you around town!"

Taylor looked away with a blush, his grip getting tighter around my paw.

"Y-yeah..." He turned around and walked off. "See ya' dude!"

What a strange kid, he was different, of course, but something didn't seem right. The way he blushed and squeezed my paw when I offered to be his personal guide almost seemed like he was to shy to accept. Knowing me I was probably over analyzing things, which I did a lot of. It didn't help that he was cute, that alone put my mind in a frenzy. Maybe his shy attitude was from him being a homosexual. I wanted to believe that, my mind kept telling me to, but this wasn't a fairy tail.

I sighed and looked at the empty library, thinking to myself how big it was, and why. Not to mention the thought of being in charge of putting books in their right place made me want to run for the hills.

"This is going to be SO boring!"
