#9 of AN UMBREON'S QUEST

Ok I know my English is.. weak, so go easy on me if there is grammar.

I do not own Pokemon. I own the characters except for Shadow.

Please Enjoy ^.^

Shadow and I got to the town. It was near midnight. Not everyone survived the onslaught back at the stadium.

"Amadea, Keltorie, Garomun! Where are you guys?" I asked myself. "Over here. By the river." I then heard Amadea's voice in my head.

We trotted to the river, by the edge of the town. I looked around, they were not there.

"Uh, is it them over there?" Shadow asked me with soft and low voice, looking at a shrub.

I stretched my necked, looking behind the shrub. There stood an Espeon, a Flareon and a Jolteon.

"Yeah, its them. C'mon." I said to Shadow. As we walked closer to them, I called out, "Hey guys!"

They turned and looked at me. They were so reliefed to see me again.

However, as soon as they saw Shadow, aggresion took over. The gem on Amadea's head shined, sparks flew out from Keltorie's shoulders and smoke came out of Garomun's nostrils.

"Hey hey hey! He's no threat ok? He is gonna help us." I said as I stood between them and Shadow.

"Are you crazy?!" Garomun snapped.

"No wait li-"

"What is wrong with you?! He's Team Ater!" Keltorie retorted. Shadow was starting to back away.

"Look! He did not choose to be with them. He needs our help just as much as we need his." I said stern voice.

"Why should we help him huh?" Amadea asked. Her voice was cold.

I took a deep breath, looked at them with calm eyes and, "Because he's our chance on getting our families back. And we're his only chance on getting his family back." Their eyes slighty widened, they powered down.

Amadea then looked at Shadow in his eyes. "Is this true?" She asked him, with the same cold voice. Shadow nodded his head. "Ok then, welcome to the so called team I guess." She said, her voice returned to normal.

"Do you know where they are holding our families?" I asked Shadow.

"Maybe."

"Well, c'mon lets hear it."

"Back at the outpost where I was stationed at. There's a room full of documents, manifests, I was never allowed inside. We can get a lead on where they are." Shadow said.

"Lead the way then." Garomun walked up to him.

Shadow nodded and walked to our right, heading into the forest. We were heading North-East.eep up.

We entered the forest, the gibbous moon shined brightly. Shadow then picked up the pace. I was able to run along side of him, but my friends were struggling to keep up.

"Nicarun please wait!" I heard Keltorie calling. Shadow and I came to a halt. They soon appeared.

"I just went a round with him in a collapsing stadium and you guys are the ones who are tired." I said to them.

"We are not like you guys, nocturnal." Keltorie said, panting.

Shadow then turned, crouched down and silently moved behind a bush. I looked in his direction, I saw a Rattata about seven meters away. I watched him hunting the Pokemon.

Shadow moved like a Ghost, into another bush then he hid behind a small fallen log. He was about 2 meters away from Rattata, unaware of Shadow.

With just one leap, Shadow lunged in and pinned the mouse Pokemon down. Shadow ducked his head down on the Rattata. All I heard was squeaking, just high pitched sqeaking.

The squeaking was cut off without warning. Shadow lift his head, and I could see bright red flesh in his mouth. Strangely, I was not disturbed by this. He quickly chewed and swallowed the flesh in his mouth. He picked up the carcass by the neck with his mouth and dragged it back to us.

When he dropped the carcass in front of us, Keltorie's mouth hung open and she looked away. She looked like she about to hurl up. Garomun walked up to the dead Rattata. He and Shadow got down and began feasting. Keltorie was sickened, "Seriously Garomun?!"

I noticed Amadea turning around, she walked up to tree. The beautiful Espeon got up on her hind legs and her front legs were leaning against the tree. She craned her neck up, trying to reach a bunch of Sitrus berries, but was unsuccessful.

She then got back on all fours. Her eyes glowed light blue, then Sitrus berries were outlined in light blue. The twig that the berries were all attached to was sanpped away from the tree and were levitating. That bunch of berries float down to Amadea's mouth. She bit the twig and her eyes returned to normal and the berries were no longer outlined.

She brought back the berries to us. As soon she dropped them on the ground, Keltorie instantly took a berry and walked away, keeping her eyes away from the carcass.

Amadea and I both lowered our heads and took a berry each. I took a few bites out of the hard berry and ate it up. So did Amadea and Keltorie.

"Who are your family Shadow?" I asked Shadow.

"Uh, every eeveelution species except for the dark one."

"Whoa thats a pretty big family." I said. He did not respond.

"Are we all ready? Lets go." Garomun said, cleaning himself.

Shadow and I ran up ahead, this time very slowly at a pace they can keep up.

We cleared about 2 kilometers, It was still late at night. "Shh. We'll walk slowly now." Shadow quietly said.

As we walked cautiously, I saw various tracks on the ground.

"Ok, be very quiet now." Shadow whispered to us.

At last, we got to the edge of the forest, and a light rain came. In the clearing, wire fence strecthed far across the land, a massive rectangular paddock. Inside, there were bricked up buildings. Dark pokemons were inside the outpost, there were rows of trucks. The tallest one was no less than eight storeys high.

"How are we gonna get in?" Keltorie asked.

"Get to the back of the outpost quietly. I'll meet you there." Shadow whispered to us. Before we could say anything to him, he scampered off to the dirt road, walking to the entrance of the outpost.

I could see a man walking up to him, he was wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt and and a pair of brown cargo pants. They had a very short conversation before he let Shadow in.

"Alright, lets go." I whispered to Garomun, Keltorie and Amadea. I stopped my rings from glowing.

It took us about two minutes to get behind the fence, at the back of the outpost. The ground was so soggy and slippery.

We were waiting for that Umbreon, we were very near danger. An Absol was patroling in the back of the compound, pacing back and forth. She had the mark on her left hind leg. Keltorie took a step back, but stepped on a twig and it made a small 'snap' sound. My heart pounded rapidly.

The Absol turned her head towards us. She looked weary. We all froze, hoping she did not see us.

Then, she turned around, to an Umbreon inside the outpost who was trotting towards her. The Umbreon's forehead ring was blue in colour, it was Shadow.

I could not hear what they were saying, but the Absol stopped her patrolling and went to the front of the outpost.

Shadow saw us. It was very dark at where we were, including where Shadow was. We rushed in, climbed over the fence, and Shadow lead us to the back of the tallest building. There was a back door. Shadow got onto his hind legs and opened the door with both of his front paws.

We were inside of the building. To my surprise, it was completely empty.

"Where are the guards or something?" Amadea asked Shadow.

"All patrolling outside at the front of the outpost."

We got to the sixth floor. Brown walls and wooden floor. Boxes were everywhere. Only five lightbulbs on the ceiling lit up the place. Shadow brought us to a black colored door in the right side corner of the floor.

"You all get inside and find something. Two knocks means someone's coming. One knock means its all clear." Shadow quietly said as he got up on his hind legs and opened the door with his front paws.

We got into the room and Shadow closed the door. I used flash to brighten the place. Stacks of paper were taller than us, A wooden table was filled with files.

"C'mon. Lets start searching." Keltorie looked through the papers. Lists of Pokemons, order forms of those Voltorb look alike balls, maps and photographs of every clothes I've the humans wearing.

I took a few steps, turning around and looking in every direction. Then, I accidently bumped into a tall shelf. It was two meters tall. Rows of flat, circular pieces of plastic or metal, I could not tell what was the material. Each had a small, circular hole in the middle.

They were hooked by the the circular hole onto an extremly long nail, drilled into the wall. They shaking in a vigorous way when I bumped into the shelf. One the pieces of plastic or metal about to fall off. I saw a label pasted on the shelf under that particular row. The label had the letters 'DaP'. It fell off the shelf and miraculously landed on my head.

I looked up without tilting my head. I could feel that it was spinning. I did not hurt or anything, but I felt a little funny and I didn't know what to do, my friends weren't paying any attention to me. Thankfully, the spinning quickly stopped and it fell off my head.

"Psst, Nicarun. Come here." Garomun said to me. I walked to them. They were looking at an opened book. Information of all eeveelutions and maps with marks on particular areas.

"Lets just grab this book and get outta here." Keltorie said as she picked up the book with her mouth.

Abruptly, there were two knocks on the door. I turned off the light in my rings. Frantically, Garomun, Amadea and I buried ourselves under the pile of papaer while Keltorie hid behind the table, still having the book in her mouth.

A woman came opened the door, she was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. I could see Shadow curled up in a ball, pretending to sleep. I could feel Amadea's right paw on my thighs.

"Lets see. Uhh, Night Slash." The woman said as she took another one of those things that fell on my head, but on another row. She left the room, slamming the door.

Soon, to our relief, there was a knock on the door. We came out of the room to meet Shadow.

"This book should give us a lead." I said to him and he just gave a nod.

"We have to get outta here now." Keltorie said as she was about to take the stairs.

"No wait, I got a faster way out." Amadea said as she slid open the window. "Garomun, come here."

He walked up to her and she said, "I want you to jump off."

"WHAT?!"

"Trust me, I'll catch you."

"IS THAT GEM ON YOUR HEAD FITTED TOO TIGHT FOR YOU?!"

"I'll use psychic to break your fall. And do not scream."

Garomun nervously stepped at the edge.

"Please trust me." Amadea looked at him in the eye.

Garomun then took a small leaped, falling at quite a great speed. Thank goodness he did not screamed.

Her eyes glowed light blue, then Garomun was outlined in light blue. He was floating three meters off the ground. She released him and he landed on his feet.

"Keltorie, your turn." Amadea said.

With no questions, Keltorie leaped off the building. The same thing happened to her and she landed safely.

"Nicarun. C'mon lets go." She said to me.

"Psychic is not going to work on us remember?" I said to at her. "Oh no, I forgot about that. What now?" She asked.

I looked around, staring at the boxes around the room. Amadea looked at them and said, "We'll use them as stepping stones?"

Shadow and I nodded in agreement. Her eyes glowed and two large boxes were outlined in blue. They were lift off from ground and they float out of the window. They went down and stopped in mid-air, one higher than the other.

Amadea leaped out the window, landed on the box, then jumped down to the other and landed on the ground. Amadea's eyes were still glowing, the boxes were still levitating. Shadow then jumped out of the window, onto the first box, then to the second box, and then jumped down to the ground.

I looked down, I could see the boxes clearly, just the glowing outlines. It was a little nerve wrecking. I gathered my courage, took the _'leap of faith' _on the first box. I looked to the left, there the second box was floating three meters off the ground. I leaped to the second box, then I jumped down to the wet and soggy ground.

"Good thinking Amadea." I complimented her.

Then we heard a deep male voice calling out "Shadow report in now!"

"You hide inside that truck, I'll be back." Shadow said to us as he ran of to the front of the outpost. We quickly got inside the back of the vehicle. I took a torn blanket that was in the truck and hid ourselves under it.

About a minute later, I heard Shadow's voice, "Nicarun? Where are you?"

"In here."

He climbed into the truck and lift up the blanket. "I have to go somewhere with this TA grunt. Just stay put." He said. He was still inside in the truck with us.

I heard the engine getting started. The truck reversed and drove straight, out of the outpost. As we were getting a 'free ride', I took a peep outside of the blanket.

I saw a sign on the road and said "Hump Ahead". Oh no, the hump came and we were launched upwards.

"What is that?!" The grunt shouted. I turned my head and looked, Garomun's tail came out of the blanket.

Garomun stood up and lost his balance. He was holding on to the edge of the truck. Keltorie reached out with the book still in her mouth, holding onto Garomun's paws.

The TA grunt stepped on the gas, the truck's speed greatly increased. Garomun, Keltorie and the book fell off the truck. I could see them rolling and bouncing on the road, their screams faded into the wind.

Shadow tripped on the blanket. His claw glowed into red and sunk his claws into the truck, the metal screeching sound was unbearable.

The TA grunt steered the vehicle left and right, shaking us off. Shadow lost his grip, he was flying out of the car with a yell. He disappered into the night.

I turned my head to the grunt. I opened my mouth and was about to fire a Shadow Ball. Instead, a beam of black and purple rings appear, the beam blasted the TA grunt in the head. He tilted to the side, out of his seat and out of the truck. I could hear the crunching of bones as the truck ran over him.

"What power was that?!" Amadea shouted.

"I don't know! Hold on!" I had no idea what attack I just did.

The truck slowed down. I looked ahead and saw the road splitting into left and right. The other side of the road was a cliff, and the truck was heading right for it.

I just gave a groan, "Aww nuts."
