#6 of A New World

Hey guys, chapter 6 is here sorry for the wait, especially e2s86 i am sorry for your wait but please enjoy.

"Morning Dan." Nathan greeted happily watching the sleepy half-awake human walk into the main guild hall looking somewhat lost for what to do. Seeing his friend sitting at a table with Kiba, Furvus and another dragon Dan walked over to join them surprised by the amount of greetings that he was getting as he walked past the other guild members that were up and there in the morning. He returned the greetings as politely as he could but rushed over to where the others were sat.

The moment he sat down a steaming bowl of what looked like porridge was set in front of him and Sasha fell onto the bench to his left, the mouse had obviously not been up long either as she was wearing a simple shirt with breeches that looked like bed ware. Dan realised that this was the first time that he had been able to get a good look at her, the other times when he had seen he had barely spared her a glance because everything else that was happening at the time. Her fur was a light brown with a soft white streak running from the bottom of her muzzle and down her neck; her fur was ruffled in more than a few places giving her a look that Dan could only describe as bed ragged. Nathan was sat to Dan's right with Kiba, Furvus and the new dragon sat opposite them; Sasha wordlessly passed out a bowl to each of them but gave Dan a warm smile when he said a quick thank you, her green eyes flashing slightly when she looked at him. Before he had a chance to start his breakfast though Nathan gestured to the new dragon.

"Dan this is Ignitus, he just got back from a mission yesterday so I doubt you've had a chance to meet him yet." The dragon had rusty red scales and looked at Dan kindly with a pair of blood red eyes that had slit like pupils, he had two slightly curved horns coming from the top of his head and flat fin like protrusions that started at the top of his head and worked their way down his neck and, Dan guessed, down his back and the top of his tail. Ignitus wore a bright red robe that covered most of his breeches, he didn't have a weapon on his that Dan could see but there were a pair of heavy dark leather gloves sat on top of the table that Dan presumed were his.

"Hi, I'm Daniel." Dan said a little awkwardly extending his hand for the dragon to shake, everyone in the guild must have known his name by now but Dan was trying to be polite. Ignitus looked at Dan's hand for a moment before chuckling and smiling at him in a way that made Dan feel like he had just done something wrong but before he could ask, Ignitus pulled a small vile of water out of his robe and poured the liquid onto the palm of his hand. Dan gasped when the water vaporised the moment it touched his scales. "Whoa."

"It's a side effect of my magic, but it's a pleasure to meet you Daniel." Ignitus bowed his head slightly in a way of greeting that Dan copied out of respect. After that the little group dug into their breakfast enjoying the comfortable silence that had enveloped them until Ignitus asked Dan a question. "So Dan, may I call you Dan?"

"Urm-Sure I kind of prefer it actually." Dan admitted, stopping as he was about to eat another spoonful of porridge, he didn't notice it yesterday with all the excitement but he had lost a lot of weight over the time that he had spent unconscious and yesterday when he was in the shower he remembered that he was only one step up from flesh and bones, fighting a fever and infection for three straight weeks had really taken its toll on him.

"Thank you, I was wondering if you could tell me more about this power of yours, I'm sort of a minor scholar as well as a guild member you see so I'm very much interested about it." The way he said it made feel like Dan was about to become a test subject for the dragon in the immediate future but he seemed to be honestly curious and Dan realised that the rest of them were paying rapt attention as well, he couldn't really blame them, if this were happening to anyone else then he doubted he would be able to stop himself from being curious.

"I don't really know that much about it to be honest." Dan replied, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. "It's only happened a few times and I only really paid attention to it when Nathan was trying to hit me yesterday." He explained noting the disappointed look on all their faces apart from Nathan who seemed to be staring off in the distance his tail curled around his leg, Kiba raised an eyebrow at him but didn't comment on it while Dan smiled; he knew exactly what the magnamon was thinking about. Nathan trying to punch Dan was immediately followed by Sam having a 'talk' with him.

"Oh well that's disappointing, is there anything that you can tell me about it or are you just too unfamiliar with it?" Ignitus asked picking at his porridge with a spoon until Sasha threw one of his gloves at him.

"You're melting the spoon again you idiot!" She shouted and true to her word the spoon in the dragons hand was a bright red and dripping molten metal into the porridge as it melted from the heat coming from his body. Ignitus let out a short cry as he looked at the spoon now dropped in the bowl; it was almost completely warped out of its original shape. The others gave a collective sigh when Sasha threw his other glove in his face. "How many times do I have to tell you to keep them on?" She demanded surprising Dan by giving a short growl, he didn't think a mouse could growl but she made it sound perfectly natural.

"How can not feel that?" Kiba asked in disbelief gesturing to the spoon which was still sizzling in the dragon's breakfast making Dan pale at the thought of shaking hands with Ignitus. "You just turned that spoon into sludge and you didn't notice?" Ignitus gave a nervous chuckle as he pulled his gloves back on but gave them a strange look before extending his hand out to Dan.

"You still want to shake hands?" Dan stared at the dragon's gloved hand clearly hesitant about touching it after what he had just seen but, trusting that the others wouldn't let Ignitus melt his hand into goo, reached out to shake Ignitus's hand. The leather was warm but far from unbearable and Dan found himself staring at the runes engraved into them. "Heat suppression, amplification and manipulation."

"What?" Dan asked, not understanding what he meant but Ignitus pointed to his gloves and the runes on them.

"Some of these are seals are to suppress the heat coming from my hands so that I don't melt everything that I touch." He explained looking pointedly at the spoon. "But the others are for amplification, turning the heat from my hands into fire for me to use and manipulation so I can use the fire for actual combat." Ignitus said happily demonstrating by creating a small ball of fire in the palm of his hand, Dan stared at it in a slight awe, aside from Nathan's magic this was the first that he had actually seen up close, snapping out of his trace Dan noticed that more than half the runes on the glove starting glowing a bright red that stood out from the dark leather.

"Cool, so you're gloves amplify your own body heat to create the flames?" Dan asked getting a happy nod from Ignitus but the dragon tilted his head when Dan frowned. "But what's fuelling the flames, there's enough oxygen in the air to sustain them and the heat is coming from you but what about the fuel?" Dan missed the twinkle in the dragon's eye as he was staring at the gloves but the others didn't and groaned, hoping that Dan wasn't going to turn out like their resident scholar.

Nathan sighed, leaning back to look at Sasha behind Dan and rolled his eyes at the pair getting a small smile for his trouble. Once Ignitus started his overly intricate and needlessly in-depth explanations that lead to truly impressive lectures there was no stopping him but Dan didn't seem to mind one bit and listened intently. It was all unnecessary though the fuel for Ignitus's fire could be summed up in two words, magic energy, the runes across his gloves fed on his own natural magical energy in order to stay active even when all it was doing was suppressing his hands body heat. It was only a slight drain however and if someone wore the gloves constantly then their own reserves of magic energy would increase gradually from the constant use of magic. It was actually quite a common thing to have a seal on your person or some form of equipment that would steadily drain a mages magical energy so that their reserves would increase.

That could have been all Ignitus explained but he then went and started explaining the basics about magic itself, or what he thought were the basics. The best way to explain magic was to imagine it as a muscle; the more you exercised it the stronger it would get and the more you exercised it the more stamina one would build up to use it for longer.

"Wait but how do you use it?" Dan interrupted the excited dragon getting a series of confused looks from everyone at the table; he took a moment to think before asking. "Is using magic like a mental ability, do you have to really think about it to make it happen or is it more of a... I don't more like just something that you can do?" Understanding what he was trying to get at Nathan started to fill in the blanks before Ignitus could.

"It's just natural for us Dan, the powers and abilities that we use are all from practice and training designed to shape our magic into what we want it to be but the magic itself is just a part of us. It's hard to explain." Nathan rubbed the back of his head, scratching at his scaly horns. "We can use our magic like you move your arms or legs. It's not exactly a conscious thought, its more natural and instinctive." Dan nodded slowly, he sort of understood now but it was kind of daunting that they had such a strong power that was natural.

"But enough about that tell me about your power." Ignitus asked excitedly, leaning forward to stare at Dan more intensely and Dan couldn't help but feel like a trapped test subject. "After all a human that has no magic shouldn't have any powers at all." Trying not to take that as an insult Dan thought back to yesterday and tried to remember exactly what happened when he was sparring with Kiba.

"It's only happened since I came here and only when I was sparring against Kiba and Aercus." Dan explained getting a nod from the dragon that was becoming uncomfortably close. "When Kiba's blade was coming towards me it was like... it just slowed down and not only that, I was able to think so clearly that I figured out where it was going to go in an instant, that's why I was able to block it."

"Dan how fast did my blade seem to be moving yesterday?" Kiba asked suddenly breaking the others attention on Dan for a moment. Dan thought for a moment before making a slow sweeping motion with his arm. "What does that mean?"

"That's how fast you were moving." Dan answered as if it were a simple thing, the others however were in a state of shock and awe, even Ignitus though he hadn't seen the spar; he knew how fast Kiba could be from past experience and couldn't believe that a human with no magic could refer to his friends speed as being next to nothing in his eyes without even realising it.

Kiba stared at Dan almost open mouthed, he had worked for years to build up his speed to the point where only a few in the guild could match him and Dan just told him that it didn't matter how fast he moved because it would never be enough. The wolf had to admit that he was a little bit jealous but quickly stomped on the feeling, how could he even think that? He had trained his whole life for what he had so maybe he had a little right to be jealous but Dan had to lose his entire world to even glimpse this power.

"Your blocks were really fast though." Dan mumbled quietly although it was still loud enough for the others to hear him, obviously deep in thought Dan was frowning down at his hands, freshly bandaged from an early morning visit from Samantha. Dan would never be more grateful of the fact that she had chosen this morning to be polite and knock and then wait for him to give the ok before coming into his room this morning. If she hadn't... shaking his head to clear away such thoughts Dan spoke a little louder. "You blocks were really fast, I could barely keep track of where your sword was when you were blocking me."

"Fascinating!" Ignitus spoke up after a few moments silence staring at Dan's bandages over his clasped hands before turning to look at Kiba sat next to him. "How hard would you say your strikes were? " Instead of replying Kiba held up his own hands as evidence the palms of which were covered with large strips of bandage. Sasha let out a low whistle when she saw his hands voicing everyone's thoughts.

"If yours are that bad and you were attacking then... Dan how bad were your hands yesterday, they must have been shredded?" She asked.

"I don't know." Dan admitted his hands didn't look that bad when Sam replaced the bandages this morning and the wounds were a lot less painful then they had been yesterday. "I didn't have the chance to look at them yesterday before Sam slapped that stuff on them and bandaged me up."

"Your body isn't conditioned for that speed of combat though, even if it was only blocking Kiba's and Aercus's attacks it is still and incredible feat." Ignitus admits looking at Dan's hands closely before frowning up at Dan. "Was there no other injuries after the spar?"

"I was just tired after our spar, Aercus messed my arms up but-"

"Yes they told me about that, your arms are all better now I take it?" Ignitus interrupts not even bothering to look up anymore, deciding that staring at the table was better as he thought. "Your muscles should have torn themselves apart, there is no way that you should have been able to move that fast without some kind of negative effect, Kiba said that he was exhausted after the spar and that was from using his magic to the max to try and slip through your guard with pure speed and you didn't even register that as a threat."

"It is strange." Sasha confirms attracting all eyes to her as she looks at Dan. "Not only the power to see everything being thrown at him but the body to use it without tearing himself to shreds, how is that possible?" Everyone shares a moment of silence before Furvus speaks up for the first time.

"A legacy." He says as if that's enough of an explanation and returns to eating his breakfast and while Dan looks at the wingless dragon like he's gone mad the others all seem like someone has just flicked a switch on in their head.

"Of course!" they all exclaimed at once turning more than a few heads in the main hall, thank god there weren't that many people there at this time. Furvus sat with a pleased smile on his face while Dan went back to eating his breakfast waiting for the others to finish saying how it couldn't be anything else.

"What's a legacy?" Dan asked getting them all to stop and look at him.

"Sorry Dan forgot that you're not from here for a second." Dan glared lightly at Nathan as he said it, more for pointing out that fact rather than reminding him about it. "A legacy is a theory posed by a mage who passed into the human world. Your world is like a magic void Dan, it's one of the reasons why we can't stay there for very long eventually it would drain us off our magic."

"What does that have to do with my 'legacy'?" Dan asked before Ignitus exclaimed.

"Everything! It proves that your world HAD magic but somewhere down the line it... dried up for lack of a better term." The excited dragon explains before anyone can shut him up. "Because of this that mage put forward a theory that humanity was once able to use magic, maybe not to the same extent as we do now or maybe even more we don't know."

"I still don't get how this affects me; even if you're right that time would have been hundreds of years ago." Ignitus sighs dramatically but Sasha beats him to the punch much to the dragon's obvious displeasure as he pouted at the mouse.

"Our magic is mostly genetic Dan if one of our parents has magic then chances are that we'll develop it at some point as well, part of the theory is that the ability to use magic is still somewhere in some of humanities bloodlines and that if exposed to the magic from our world then their abilities would reawaken and manifest in some way." She explains looking at Nathan when he almost shouted; the magnamon was smiling like he had just figured something out.

"Of course that would explain why my magic dispelled when we came through the portal, your body must have rejected it." Dan was sure his expression was about as blank as his mind right now because Nathan happily went on explaining. "You remember how hurt you were when you woke up the other day? Well I... I couldn't heal your wounds but I could...I don't know how to explain it, you could say that I sealed them, stopped the bleeding and infection and other things but when we came through the portal everything that I did was undone and even Sam couldn't use her magic to heal you. You just wouldn't respond to it."

"Wait but why would me having magic affect that, I mean you guys have magic and Sam's healing must work on you right?" Dan asks looking around at the unanimous nods from the little group before Kiba speaks up.

"Yeah healing magic works on us but it wouldn't if we were flooding our body with our own magic. When Nathan and Targaerus brought you in, everyone could feel it Dan." At the mention of the portal guard Dan felt slightly guilty that he had forgotten about the big wolf but he quickly pushed that thought aside for later as he focused on Kiba.

"Feel what?"

"You." Everyone at the table jumped when Aercus seemingly appeared behind Dan wearing a simple blue robe that blended in with his fur but the dragon continued like nothing had happened. "The entire guild could feel your magical presence Daniel." Aercus spared a quick glance at Nathan when Dan made a barely noticeable flinch at his full name but again didn't make a comment and continued. "It was like an enormous pressure was forced upon all of us, the younger and weaker members of the guild were forced to go on missions simply to avoid blacking out because of it and even some of the older and stronger members, Samantha was particularly affected by it as she was treating you."

"That includes us." Ignitus chirped happily indicating himself, Kiba, Sasha and Furvus who seemed unhappy at being reminded that they had to leave especially Furvus. "We broke out in sweats and were panting within an hour of you being brought here and even Targaerus was affected he looked like death warmed over when he finally dropped you off here."

"I'm sorry." Dan said meekly, staring intently at the table as he felt a surge of guilt take over him. 'I wasn't even awake and I was already causing trouble.'

"Don't apologise Dan you were unconscious no one can blame you for what happened and anyway you haven't heard the best bit yet." Kiba said, smirking evilly. "Even the master was affected."

Giving Kiba his best 'what the hell' look Dan turned to look behind him at Aercus.

"How is that the best bit and were you affected as well?" He asked getting a chuckle out of the blue dragon, which Dan thought was strange as he had Aercus pegged as a clam and stoic kind of Dragon.

"Yes I was affected like everyone else, I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for the master actually having to touch you when he carried you to your room, must have been a... daunting experience for him." He mused looking at the bar area of the guild hall to see the master looking at them smiling pleasantly, Dan still got a chill down his spine from those blazing emerald eyes but managed to smile back easily enough. "And when he says that it's the best part he means that you're the only one to ever even come close to defeating the master."

"But I was unconscious I didn't even fight him!" Dan exclaimed getting a full blown round of laughter from everyone present, even Furvus let himself chuckle.

"That's the point! You're the only one who's ever been able to make him sweat and you did it while you were blacked out." Nathan explained calming himself down somewhat.

"Although purely accidental we still fine it funny that the Master had a hard time carrying you to that room when Nathan wasn't affected at all." Ignitus said ignoring the shocked look on Dan's face for the moment as he continued. "But enough of that, you have an ability that we simple must research maybe we should...."

"NO YOU DON'T!" Dan almost screamed when Sam appeared and violently thrust Ignitus's head into the bowl containing his breakfast, he was certain that he heard the wood crack if not outright smash from the impact. "I have just patched him back together; Dan is not allowed to take part in your experiments. IS THAT CLEAR?" She cemented the question by banging Ignitus's head into the table with each word. By the end of it Ignitus was a twitching mess and Dan was shaking in his boots but he was still lucid enough to see the small thumbs up the dragon gave as a confirmation to her question and to notice that he was practically alone now with only Furvus left sitting at the table, Sam had mercifully let the dragon slide out of her grasp and onto the floor.

Dan was outright terrified when she nonchalantly slipped a smoking glove off of her hand and dropped it uncaringly onto the downed dragon. The white furred wolf looked down right demonic when she turned her glre to Dan.

"And you weren't thinking about getting all beat up again messing around with something that you don't understand right after I worked my tail off to get you back into some semblance of health were you, yesterday was bad enough." She demanded her golden eyes bouring painful holes through Dan's skull as he fearfull shook his head.

"N...N-no I wasn't." He stammered, sighing a wave of relief when he saw her hands unclench. How could she be so godamn scary when she had only ever helped him Dan did not know?

"Now Sam calm down, I'm sure he didn't mean right now, Daniel is obviously still recovering." 'No Furvus what are you doing?!?!' Dan thought in disbelief looking between the two of them as Sam's mood took a drastic turn. The second that Sam looked at Furvus her demonic homicidal aura disappeared and she rushed to hug the giant dragon. In that moment the guild hall was replaced by a creepily beautiful sunset beach with the two embracing each other lovingly within a bright sparkling pink love heart. It only lasted a few minutes before Sam kissed Furvus and wandered off walking right over Ignitus without so much as a second look, leaving a shell shocked Dan sat at the table.

"My...My eyes." Dan muttered rubbing his eyes, he wasn't sure what worried him the most, the fact that that scene was possible one of the most terrifying things that he had ever seen or the fact that it was forever burned into his retina.

"Pssst Dan" remembering that the others had disappeared Dan looked around for them when he heard Nathans voice. "Under the table." Looking at Furvus who simply shrugged, Dan looked under the table and was surprised to see Nathan and Kiba hugging each other tightly on one side and the same for Aercus and Sasha on the other. "Is she gone?" Nathan whispered looking around fearfully, actually rocking back and forth with Kiba. Nodding dumbly Dan looked back over to Sasha and Aercus before frowning at the dragon.

"Aercus, you to." As if only just realising what he was doing Aercus suddenly disappeared only to reappear behind Dan, Dan smiled when he noticed that the dragon must have been using his magic because Sasha fell over without Aercus there and wondered where he had gone.

"I think I'll take my leave." The dragon said as he walked away obviously trying to keep some of his dignity intact as he headed in the opiste direction that Sam had gone.

"Pretend all you want you do know I saw all of that right." Dan was of course referring to his legacy activating the moment Aercus starting using his magic and caught every second of his movement from the undignified yelp that no one seemed to hear to his panicked escape from out under the table.

"Those eyes of yours are going to be a problem aren't they?" Aercus asked turning to look at the still smiling Dan. "Never mind come find me if you want to test the limits of your legacy." Dan gave a wave to let the dragon know that he heard but went back to eating his breakfast as he waited for the others to surface from underneath the table.

"So Furvus." Tired of how long the others were taking Dan looked to the sweetheart of the dragon claws rea...reaper.....Dan turned around to look at Sam who was standing behind him, no wonder the others hadn't come up yet, he should have followed Aercus's example and made a quick escape, thinking quickly Dan said the first thing that came to mind. "Hey Sam, thanks for bandaging my hands again this morning."

'Karma is a bitch! Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady, Sam is a nice lady.' Dan didn't know how he was able to keep a straight face while thinking this he was sure that he would be sweating bullets any moment now, so it came as a surprise when Sam sat down on his right so that she was opposite Furvus. 'Oh thank god she's not going to pulverise my brain cells, I should have known better than thinking she could hear me call her a rea- No, better not to tempt fate.'

"Don't mention it, it's not fair that all you've been able to experience since you came here is pain I'm just trying to help anyway I can." Sam smiled digging into her own breakfast as Dan was left speechless, he was getting whiplash from trying to keep up with her emotional state, maybe it was because Furvus was sat there or maybe it was because he was still technically her patient that she was nicer to him than she was to the others. It didn't matter either way though as Dan smiled at the wolf.

"Thanks." Dan said actually meaning it as he finished his bowl. "Its... nice knowing that there's someone who can patch me up if I get into trouble." He admitted choosing not to notice the look Furvus and Sam gave each other while he looked under the table again only to find that the others weren't there. 'Where di...?'

Dan was broken out of his thoughts when Nathan sat down on his left and Sasha and Kiba picked Ignitus up and took him away somewhere. The dragon he didn't look like he was conscious he knew that Sam was strong, after all you had to be to make an imprint of someone's head in a metal bowl just by throwing it at them but Dan found it really surprising that she could actually smash the dragon's head like she did safely, after all he didn't think Sam would actually hurt him enough to warrant any actual attention because then she would be the one having to patch him up.

"I thought you only venture out of your cave to come prey on us mere mortals not eat with us." Nathan teased leaning on the table so that he could look at her past the front of Dan. The comment didn't go unnoticed though as Sam's eyes twitched a little. Furvus had a small smile on his face when Sam set her spoon down for a moment to look back at Nathan.

"Now why would you think that foot face?" Sam voice was soft and calm but there was an undertone of her crazy homicidal side that was badly hidden coating the words. Dan was beginning to understand why she was so hostile to Nathan and didn't like where this was going it felt like Nathan was using him as a shield to keep Sam from going demonic on him while still managing to get his shots in where he could but Dan realised that Sam was taking the same liberties, as Nathan twitched at being call foot face.

"I told you to stop calling me that witch." Nathan hissed but Sam just growled at being called a witch.

"Bloody Lizard."

"Crazy Pup."

"Why don't you find a nice rock to go crawl under and die?"

"Wouldn't want to give you the satisfaction of burying me." This carried on for a few minutes until Dan just looked at Furvus who was smiling as they traded insults back and forth, chuckling when Sam brought up Nathans sex life of lack thereof.

"They do this all the time when Sam's not in one of her violent moods." Furvus explained seemingly safe as they were being ignored by the squabbling pair. "Come on they could be there for hours, if they are left alone." He said standing to leave with Dan following close behind him, Sam and Nathan oblivious to their absence.

"Doesn't he remember the fact that she can apparently beat the crap out of him without anyone stopping her?" Dan asked looking back at his friend now only an inch away from the violent wolf who was still spilling curses at him.

"Why do you think they all hide when she walked over to us?" Furvus chuckled stopping to glance around the room Dan noticed that the wingless dragon didn't have his massive claymore with him. "And with how quickly they dragged Ignitus off."

"I thought it might have had something to do with her calmly expressing her displeasure with Ignitus's idea." Dan said in a dry tone before looking pointy at the mound of muscle standing next to him. "And I noticed that you didn't even flinch at your... girlfriends display?" Dan wasn't expecting or ready for the clap on the shoulder that Furvus gave him and had to stumble to try and catch his balance again.

"Yes, she and I have been mates for a little over a month now and she is a fine female." Dan almost couldn't believe that the dragon had just said that, if he had said that to any girl back on earth then... well he didn't know what the reaction would be but he doubted that it would be a positive response. But the look in Furvus eyes and that way he said the words made Dan think that it was meant to be the highest praise that he could offer. Unable to resist the chance to tease the big dragon Dan smiled.

"So we can all be expecting the cubs soon then?" Furvus turned on Dan so fast that he thought he would get whiplash to stare at him with bulging eyes.

"What?"

"Well you know you're both consenting adults, I assume I actually don't know how old anyone is." Dan admitted crying inside that his attempts to tease Furvus were waylaid by a lack of such simple knowledge.

"Nathan and Kiba are both seventeen, Sasha is eighteen, I and Sam are twenty-seven and twenty-five respectfully, Ignitus is thirty though." Furvus was licking his lips nervously. "What were you saying about cubs?"

"Ok, I guess telling someone's age is going to take a while to get used to." Dan said nodding to himself and smirking inside, he still had Furvus on the proverbial hook. "What about the Master and Aercus and do you usually have members as young as me, Kiba, Sasha and Nathan?" Dan smiled innocently up at Furvus the older dragon being a few feet taller than him.

"No we don't but those three are all orphans that we took in." Furvus said sadly looking back at Nathan. "The reason that Sam gets away with so much around them is because she's like and older sister to them. Aercus too, he's only nineteen, Kiba's always looked up to Aercus and has been trying to match his speed for as long as i can remember. Seeing them when they were all kids was..." Dan saw his chance and interrupted Furvus quickly.

"Oh yes Cubs how could I forget." When Furvus tensed again Dan knew he had the dragon. "You are both consenting adults and an obviously emotionally driven couple you must have had sex and as a younger couple your probably forgot to use protection." Dan didn't know if the black dragon could pale but he defiantly seemed a little drained of colour. "So one add one equals two, she could be preganet right know and your might not know, i mean as a master healer she would know but." Seeing the clear worry in his eyes Dan decided that maybe he was going a little too far with this and started running damage control before it got out of hand, after all making Furvus paranoid could alter their relationship and Dan doubted Sam would control herself if she found out it was his fault, what woman would? "But then again maybe not, after all what are the chances I mean you're not even the same species."

That obviously reassured Furvus enough to get him to calm down bu he had a small smile on his face when he looked back at Sam, a smile that Dan knew meant that he didn't hate the idea that she might be ablt to give them children, just maybe not now. 'He really does love he...

_ _ Dan's eyes bulged and he gripped his head in pain as the voice ripped through him again. 'No not now! Leave me alone!' Despite his best efforts Dan couldn't stop himself swaying or prevent himself from losing his balance and falling onto Furvus, who caught him with surprising quickness and sat him in a nearby chair.

"Sorry just had a bit of a dizzy spell." At any other time Dan would have found that funny but not now, he was still griping his head and could see the black start creeping in and spreading at the edge of his vision, it was taking all his willpower to just stay conscious he barely noticed Furvus talking.

"...Weak from the fever I'll get you something more for you to eat and drink." Dan did notice the lack of a warm hand supporting his shoulder and promptly fell back into the chair.

No one noticed the strange look Nathan was giving Dan.

Ok please leave a comment and let me know what you think.
