Chapter 4

I awoke when the light of the digital sun hit my eyes. Raya was still in my sleeping bag, that's when I remember Taomon. I turned towards her and saw that her pillow covered her eyes. I breathed a sigh of relief, if Taomon were to catch us she'd make mincemeat out of me. I lightly shook Raya to get her fully awake. "Hey Raya time to get up" I whispered. Raya began to stir and finally woke up.

"Yeah, yeah I'm up. So, how'd you like last night?"

"I wouldn't trade it for the world"

"Oh, and is my mother up yet?" She sounded pretty scared.

"Don't worry she's still asleep, though we should wake her up soon and get back to our original plan. You'll just have to get out of the bag so I can get dressed"

"Alright, give me a moment" She shuffled out of the bag and noticed her fur was a little messy "down there" so she got it cleaned up while I got dressed. Once everything was on and checked I had Raya wake her mother up while I cleaned up the campsite.

"Mother, time to get up..." Taomon didn't get up so Raya tried shaking her...still nothing. That's when I got a great idea.

"Raya wait, how about we get a little humor in before we go"

"How so?"

"Well, humans do things called "pranks" on people. They're really funny but only if they don't physically or mentally hurt the person they prank. What we're gonna do is spray some of this stuff" I pointed to a can of whipped cream I brought, just for this reason "into her paw and then we'll tickle her nose with your tail. Then she'll move her paw to her face to scratch it then BAM she's got a face full of it. It's a classic."

"That would be quite funny, let's try it" She was eager to proceed.

"Alright, just let me get it set up" I got everything ready and gave Raya the signal "Okay Raya, do your stuff" She gave a nod and moved the pillow from Taomon's face, then tickled her mother's nose with her tail. Taomon brought her paw to her face...but nothing happened. Taomon opened her eyes and stood up.

"Thought I was asleep huh? Well let's see how you like it" She slapped my face with her cream filled paw. The cream was a nice cushion so it didn't hurt but now my face was covered in it. Raya was laughing so hard she couldn't open her eyes. I decided it was her turn so I took some of the cream into my hand and threw it at her. It landed on the tip of her muzzle and her laughing ceased. She looked so adorable I couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh no! Rabid Renamon! HAHAHAHA" Everyone joined in on the laugh. After a while we settled down and Raya and I cleaned each other's faces. We set out on our journey yet again.

It was somewhere around noon, we were still following the digivice when Taomon spoke up "I sense a Digimon nearby, be on guard" Something jumped us from behind and attacked us. Raya and her mother we able to get out of the way fast enough but unfortunately I wasn't as an attack made itself known. I felt a claw pierce my back. I couldn't move as a second push forced the claw through my body, coming out of my chest was a black claw. Raya screamed in terror at the site that happened right before her eyes.The pain was intense and blood was pouring out of my wound. The creature then kicked my back and pushed me off its claw. I landed on my stomach face down in a puddle of my own blood as I breathed shallow breaths. I was going to die, I knew I was, consciousness slowly seeped out of my mind as I could tell this was my last moment with Raya. I could only hope that Taomon would keep Raya safe. The darkness finally consumed my mind and I knew I was no more.

Raya looked on in shock, unable to move. What had attacked her once beloved tamer was a Devimon. It laughed maniacally as the two looked on in shock but Taomon quickly gained her composure. She quickly took a defensive position in front of Raya to shield her from any attack.

The Devimon gloated upon his kill, "Humans are so pitiful, you'll wish you had his fate when I'm finished with you!" Devimon started moving forward, walking toward the two. He was about 5 feet from them when something hit him across the face. Raya and Taomon quickly turned to see who their savior was. I stood there with a clenched fist and eyes filled with hatred, and the hole in my chest had stopped bleeding. Devimon furious "How can you be alive, Human?! I'm going to teach you how to die properly!" He lunged at me, I didn't move an inch, a claw came forward at my neck. The next moment my head was rolling on the ground, my body just stood there. Another shreak could be heard from Raya and some laughter from Devimon. Everything came to a halt when my body began to move. It moved over to my head, picked it up and placed it back on my shoulders and shoved my spinal cord back together with a sickening CRACK! I looked toward him and spoke "You wanna play a game?" My consciousness recognized this from the movie "Saw" when the antagonist gives an introduction to his victims. Devimon's eyes became wide and his pupils dilated, his consciousness was occupied by mine.

Inside Devimon's mind was a strange trap, a trap that I had seen before. Devimon "woke up" in a chair in the middle of a room. He screamed as a huge amount of pain engulfed his body. On his body were chains, chains that were connected to different parts of his body. There were rings going through his wrists, the back of his legs, parts of his back skin, and finally going through his lower jaw. In front of him was a television and what looked like a bomb with a timer. The television turned on, revealing the "Jigsaw" puppet from Saw. The puppet spoke, "Hello, you don't know me but I know you. You have caused many wrongs in your life, but what will you do to keep your own life? This is a test to see how far you will go to save yourself. You have exactly 120 seconds to get out of these chains and out of this room before the bomb will go off, and you will die. You'd better make good use of your time because you have only 110 seconds left" and the T.V. turned off, the bomb's timer was counting down from 110. Devimon finally realized the danger he was in, he quickly took hold of the rings on his back legs and tried to pull on them. They caused immense pain but he kept pulling, finally one of his legs gave way and he pulled the ring out. He gave a shriek of pain. 90...89...88. The counter continued to count down. He took hold of the second chain and pulled as hard as he could. It ripped out of his leg as he gave another shriek of agony, 60...59...58. It wasn't going to stop. He grabbed chains on his back and began to pull.

On the outside of the Demon Digimon's mind both Raya and Taomon were watching in anticipation at was unfolding. While his body made no sound rips could be heard from his legs. Raya leaned to the right just as Devimon's left leg gave a horrifying RIP as if something was being pulled out of it. Raya was about to vomit as a few moments later his other leg gave a rip, then a large tear in the Demon's flesh was seen. Raya somehow kept herself from getting sick as a third rip could be heard and a spray of blood came from the attacker's back. Taomon looked on in horror 'What could possibly be the cause of this?!' she asked herself as another rip was heard from the Digimon's back.

33...32...31...Devimon was trying with all his might not to pass out from the intense pain. He began to pull at the rings in his wrist. He finally succeeded in pulling out one ring, it left a large hole in the space between his index finger and thumb. It felt like he was going to die just from the pain if bomb didn't get to him first. He pulled the other chain it hurt twice as much as the last one due to the massive wound on his other hand. He pulled it out as the counter hit 10. He quickly brought his hands up to the chain connected to his jaw as he pulled with all his might. It began to tear through his skin and muscle, nothing felt worse than this exact moment. 3...2...1...

Devimon's body exploded with gore, leaving a huge heap of organs and limbs splayed out. Raya couldn't hold back any longer and vomited all over the ground. Taomon turned and covered her face in horror and sickness. I regained all of my conscious, I noticed my chest had healed up and I was breathing normally. I focused in front of myself to see the gore that used to be the Devimon. I turned to Taomon who still couldn't find it in herself to look at the remains of our earlier foe. I wasn't sure if I was the cause of the death so I spoke up, "Did I do that?" Taomon jerked her head towards me and cowered in fear. She had pieced together that I caused the death and thought I was going to kill her. I could tell she didn't want to talk so I went to the now crying Raya and sat down next to her. I spoke to her "So, we're all okay?" She quickly turned towards me. She looked frightened but when she saw my eyes had changed back she embraced me and cried onto my shoulder. When she finished she spoke.

"H...How did that happen?"

"I don't know and I'm sure I don't want to know. I have no answers for anyone, I don't know what happened, I don't know what caused it, and I definitely don't want to see you crying like that again. Your mother thinks I might kill her so the whole process of getting back on track doesn't seem like it might end very soon"

"Well we should get started as quickly as we can if we wish to get to my home soon" We walked over to Taomon crouched down, "Mother, we should get going soon" Taomon looked up at her daughter and noticed me.

"I'm not going anywhere with that...that Thing!" I got annoyed and did the only thing I thought of to get her moving.

"Well if you don't want to come then..." I took out the digivice and scooted around Taomon so that she I was facing both Taomon and our destination, I used my best "evil guy" voice and said, "You wanna play a game?" Taomon quickly turned pale and just as fast started running right in the direction I wanted her to.

"Oh you are so evil" Raya joked.

"I know and I love it!" We started running after Taomon, she wasn't going to be stopping any time soon.
