Chapter 2

"The Beginning"

The sun was out and glowing as young Angelia played in the grassy field. Of course as usual her parents were busy looking out over the entirety of Heaven so all she could do was sit in the grass and play with her stuffed angel that she had since birth. She always wondered why it had wings but she did not, she knew she was an angel, but all the adults had wings, even her own parents had them. Not only did she wish she had wings, but she wished she had a friend to play with. All the other children seemed to either avoid her or tease her. She hugged her angel tight against her as the wind blew over her. Still it was a nice day out and the field did look beautiful. Just as she was getting up to sit under the one tree in the field a gust of wind hit her in the back and sent her down the hill. At the bottom was a straight drop to the rocky surface below. She tried grabbing the ground but it didn't slow her rolling.

"Please, help me daddy!" she screamed in her mind she got closer to the edge.

Even with her eyes closed and the rolling of her body filled her ears she could still hear footsteps getting closer.

"I got ya." is all she heard when she stopped.

She was only a foot away from the ledge when she stopped.

"Whew, that was really close."

She turned herself around to find her rescuer not to be her father, but a young boy roughly her age. He had his hand around the silver bow on her waist and his other on what looked like a metal rod in the ground. He wore a small red jacket and short kaki pants and white shoes, he also had a pair of red goggles on his head for some reason. Under the ground she could hear what sounded like a small motor running before they shot up to the top of the cliff. She was about to be sick before they stopped at the top. Even if he looked weird he still saved her.

"Thank you for saving me." she told him as she caught her breathe.

"No problem, just be careful. You can slip on these hills." he said.

They both raised their heard and for the first time got a look at each others face. His blue eyes were so pretty she thought to herself.

"Wait a minute, you're the so called bratty princess Angelia everyone keeps talking about!" he exclaimed as he pointed at her.

She prepared to be scolded once again by another kid but instead she felt his hand on her head.

"You don't seem bratty, your very pretty."

She was pretty? That was the first time she had ever heard that from another boy.

"You don't?"

"Nah, you seem like a good kid, of course I've only known you for four minutes."

She looked down at the device in his hand and saw it was the same metal pole that he had grabbed to keep himself from falling over the side. He saw that she took interest in it and showed it to her.

"It's just something my dad made to help carve symbols in armor. It's nothing special."

For a seven year old he sure sounded older. She couldn't help but give him a big tight hug. She didn't stop until she felt him struggling.

"I'm Icarus. Master inventor."

"Master inventor?'

He scratched the back of his head as he told her the truth.

"Not really, but I like to mess around with abandoned parts and make my own little devices."

"So you can't make anything." she said bluntly.

"Oh ho! But I have."

He pulled out two small colored balls and threw them to the ground. The smoke enveloped both of them but nothing happened, instead both of them were colored a different color, Angelia was yellow and he was blue.

"Gah! Don't worry, just a minor error!" he exclaimed as he turned around to wipe his body off.

For once someone made her giggle and almost laugh out loud. He may have been strange, but he seemed really nice and he actually excepted her. Little did they know that through the years their friendship would get stronger then weaker but then stronger again as time went by.

Present Day...

This was it, his time has come to shine. If he could pass the test he would finally be accepted into the force where he could be of much better use. Still Angelia was distracting him a bit. Did she really have to wear her casual outfit. It's not that she didn't look great in it but it kind of revealed her womanly features a little to much. She wore white stockings and small bits of her armor over her legs, arms and shoulders, and a white skirt that covered up the southern area but up north, oh boy. That thing barely covered up her chest! She was the daughter of the creator of everything in existence and she chooses that. He dared not say anything perverted or else it would be a kick to the face and with those white boots, it certainly wouldn't be pleasant.

Finally the academy, for a school it was pretty huge. The staircase inside lead up twenty flights of stairs, each stopping at a hallway outlined with rooms. That would be a challenge in itself to make it up to the eighteenth where the test was being held.

"I guess this is it. The final battle. I'm not going to hold back."

She was going to say something, but then again he always made tests sound like a battle.

"Look, even if you don't pass you can always try next time."

"You don't have to worry your pretty little head about me, this test is in the bag." he said as he looked back at her with a grin.

He was just like she remembered when they were kids, he even wore the same colored goggles. She watched as he ran up the stone steps towards what could be his future
