"Come on Fag! Get up and fight!"

Nathan couldn't even make out what he was saying. His ears were ringing slightly and his head was throbing extremely. He could taste the blood in his mouth. A horrible taste.

"Look at the queer, can't even take a few blows."

This was an exaggeration. It was more tham a few blows. From what he could recall, it was four fists to the face, seven to the stomach, one to the crotch and a few kicks now and then where ever they pleased. He knew who it was, from the voices. Steve Green and his gang of jocks. He was the biggest, tougest wolf in the school, and now Nathan was experiencing that wolf's fury.

Trying to open his swollen eye he noticed that it had gotten really dark. It had started when he was cycling home on the usual country road. He had a car but he was only 17, which ment he only had a provisional license. He preffered cycling anyway. He got to feel the country breeze in his fur, and the quiet of the rural area. It was a break from the sound of honking horns and smell of exaust fumes. But that was interupted by the sound of roaring engines and dump valves. He knew who the cars belonged too but befopre he could turn his head to look, he felt a long wooden object, probably a bat, strike the back of his skull. Skiding of the road, semi-conscious, Nathan landed in an open field, hitting the ground hard and rolling along the ground. Although a small bit dissorientated he counted 3 cars and about 8 different voices in the distance who he could mostly identify. There were some hay bails in the field, and one of these was were Nathan was dragged to. A few painfull hours later and here he was.

"Come on Steve, he's had enough"

Nathan didn't know this voice. He'd never heard it before. But now that he thought about it, a few minutes ago he could have sworn he heard another car pull up.

"Oh, so your sticking up for the Sheepdog queer are you?" Steve said with a hint of hostililty.

"No, I'm not. But if you carry on you might kill him! You know how you are, and with that basketball scolarship you got, a criminal charge won't look to good will it?!"

There was a short silence. To Nathan it felt like forever.

"Your right. Come on guys. Let's go. See ya later fag balls."

Then he felt saliva on his face. There saliva. It didn't tast too good compared to his blood. Laying on the ground, completely motionless, he heard the cars pull away one by one. He was alone. Completely alone. All because he came out yesterday to the public. He did it how most people would now a days. Twitter. He wish he hadn't obviously. He really hated himself now. He should have seen this coming. But before he could degrade himself anymore he heard a car pull up.

"H-help..." He mustered. His voice was low and broken from the beating he had taken and his vision wasn't much better. Then a paw and arm carefully wrapped around his stomach.

"Take it easy. I got you"

It was that voice...the one he'd never heard before. And what that starnger did was carry him to his car, where he layed him across the whole back seat and put a jacket over him. The door was shut and the stranger got in the driver seat where he slowly accelerated of the field and back on the road. The car was warm and Nathan could here music. He taught it was Evenescence.

"I'm going to drive you to the hospital. When they ask you who helped you, you say you didnt know. Ok?"

"O-Ok..." Nathan replied, barely audiable.

"I'm not pro gay or anything, but i want you too know I didnt touch you. No fur, even a fag, deserves that kind of beating"

The stranger had basically saved him, which he was thankful for. But before he could say "Thanks" he passed out. Those few painfull hours looped in his head. Punch by punch, kick by kick. He could see himself and how helpless he was. He owed his life to that fur. He racked his brain for any collections of what he looked like but he found nothing. Then he snapped back from limbo, and slowly opened his eyes. Infront of him was a nurse.

"Hello Mr. Nolan. We've notified your parents that your here and they should be on there way shortly"

Nathan was in a kind of shock. He was just trying to get a grip on everything. Trying to get his bearings.

"Whoever dropped you in saved your life. Can you remember who it was so we can try to contact them?"

"Uh..no..I don't. A stranger I think...I can't really remember. Why do you want to contact them?"

"To get there account on what happened or how you were when they found you. Thats all. Your very lucky. What happened to you?"

"I was...gay bashed.."

"Oh you poor thing! That happened to my cousin....God rest his soul. The bastards that did it got charged and sent to jail. I hope they rot. Do you know who it was?"

Nathan thought for a while. If he did say who it was there was no doubt in his mind that there would be charges pressed and the Gardaì woudl be involved. He didn't want that. Especially since Steve Greens father was the yop layer in the county and his Uncle was mayor. Things would get worse for him then.

"No..I don't.."

"Alright dear...I'll come back in a while to check on you."

"Nurse wait. Wjat day is it? And how long will I be here?"

"Today is Tuesday and you should be out by Sunday"

She smiled then left

Later that day his parents arrived. They were so woried, as parents would be. Father swore that he would kill whoever had done this to his son and mother cried. A lot. The few days in the hospital were daunting since all he had was a tv with 5 channels and his phone (which was filled with sympathy texts like "Get well soon" and "Miss you!" from friends). Going home was a relief but then he would have to face school the next day.

When that day came, his dad gave him a drive to school, and a drive back after it finished. They urged him not to go, but not going would make things worse. People would ask why, the jocks would get what they want and Nathan would just be the scared sheepdog queer. That wasn't happening. Of course he was afraid of what would happen today, but he would just face it head on. Walking into school, he got the most amazing start to his day. He got a hug from nearly every gir in school, with an occasional kiss on the cheek and a "You're so brave" comment. He wondered that maybe this was why the jocks hated him, hated gays. Because a gay person could get all the women. As friends obviously. And thtas what he needed. A friend. He had one friend, but he was on holidays in Italy at the moment. And he also knew Nathan was gay and took it very well. His thoughts were interupted by the school bell so he rushed to his first class; Science.

"Are you alright Nathan?" Said his science teacher, a tall fox, Mrs. Ryan.

"I'm fine Miss." Nathan smilled at her. "Thanks."

"Alright. Take a seat down there next to Cahill. He's new here. He's the wolf looking through his bag at the back."

Nathan nodded and walked down the room ignoring all the furs whispering his name.

"Hey" The wolf said with his head in the bag. "I'm Cahill."

Just as he took out his head to check his new seated partner, Cahill froze, as did the sheepdog.

Nathan just uttered one word, because thats all he could utter

"You...."

It was the stranger, the one who saved his life.
